Trys glanced over at Zareen (@Nefieslab ) as the fellow Ranger joined her. The last time the two women met was when the latter had asked Trys to do a handstand. That day now seemed forever ago as she thought of Rook, Vera and others present that she would never see again. The memory came back with a sharp pang, but now was not the time to reflect on it.

“You do now,” Trys said simply when Zareen asked if she had authority to commandeer vehicles. She commed Ruzed (@Die Shize ), “Need you to get to the sinkhole two miles west of us and create a large boom. Needs to be as noisy as you can make it. Zareen and I will be on speeders to corral the herd over.”

Trys was surprised to see another ship hover by and droids dropping in. The sight brought her a huge amount of relief and she glanced at the man zipping down.

“I’m Aran,” She said as she quickly walked towards the man (@Wit), “Can you take over the evac? The plan is to create an explosion to draw the infected away from here. Zareen and I will herd them away, but we need someone to evacuate that entire complex,” She pointed back behind herself where at least a thousand refugees were hiding out, “The commotion could very well draw in more infected so we need the droids on defense to safely route them through."

Trys turned towards the droids that landed from her comming Newton, "Report to ISC Ranger...?" She pointed at the man, "Report to him for directions. Expect to have another horde come and flank."

Trys raised her comlink and spoke into the shared channel, “Virtus (@Exhilian ), can we have some evac shuttles sent to my coordinates? Guessing approximately 600 people, but could be up to a thousand,” It was impossible to take a look from here and gauge how many of the rooms were actually filled.

She jogged back towards Zareen, “Let’s find some speeders and do this,” Trys contacted Ruzed again, “We wait for your signal, Ruzed. Light it up.”

She had the authority to commandeer vehicles because the Sith Slayer said so? She was going to abuse the kark out of that because, really, who wouldn't? Thankfully she didn't need to take long to figure out what she was going to be stealing commandeering because the speeder bikes she had seen before would be perfect for the plan.

Though calling it a plan seemed like it was a bit much - they had a vague idea and a hope that it should work. She wasn't above working with that given the current literal hell that the planet was currently experiencing though.

"Fan-karking-tastic, this just got doable."

Grabbing some supplies from one of the other nearby Rangers turned up a pair of the grappling guns that let people rapel down buildings. They might need them to get down to street level and back up higher when they needed pick up - she wasn't about to risk taking the lifts during the Infected apocalypse because she didn't want to end up as tinned food for the Infected.

"Like I said, saw a few of them two blocks over, back on the street level, LT. Five by my quick count."
she reported as she handed one of the rapel guns to Trys in case she didn't have one herself, "If we're quick and quiet we should be able to get to the bikes before too many of them decide my arse looks like a snack."

With her blaster pistol in one hand, Sakas started in the direction of the speeder bikes. Taking cover behind the burned out shell of a crashed starfighter, she eyed the street critically.

"Looks like three wandering - I'll throw something as a distraction, you run on ahead on my mark."
she suggested to Trys, picking up the remains of a wing-mirror from some kind of speeder before nodding to Trys and tossing it as hard as she could, catching the attention of the Infected in the street who started shuffling after it, "Go go!"

Rhax’ra looked to Lt.Velt as he spoke to her in perfect Huttese. Well at least there will be someone to communicate with. Well two if Clane understands and speaks Huttese that would make two. But at least there won't be a communication barrier with at least one of them. The Tusken nodded, "Yes, Sir." she replied to the blonde. Not wasting any time at all to move over to join Corran and Clane she will take up a position to Velt's left but slightly behind him to avoid blocking his or Clane's field of vision.

Listening carefully as the man told who is in their small group what is going on. Rhax'ra took it that what he is telling them is their objective as well. While she is new to being a Ranger Rhax'ra is exactly new to a combat type of situation so the female Tusken was quick to mirror Velt as she too started jogging towards the barrier wall exit. She didn't like how narrow the walkway appeared, to her at least. To the Tusken it was assumed the group would have to take almost a straight line as they go across it. Though as they got closer she could see that the walkway is just wide enough.

The amount of noise is one thing that is different from any battle she had found herself in back on Tatooine. The noise here felt somewhat disorienting. But the new recruit made sure not to let it all get to her as she followed the other two.

He was glad to hear the Lieutenant immediate spring into action, taking his reinforcements into account and coming up with a plan of action. The Sector Rangers were a lot less militaristic as compared to their ISC brethren, so he hadn't been sure of what to expect in such a situation. So when she instructed him to help with the evacuation he nodded and started moving towards the complex to get a better look at the situation.

"Ultor," he chimed in as the Lieutenant was directing the droids to follow him, "Kal Ultor."

He gestured for the droids to follow him as everyone else sprang into action. "Have all the gunships circle around and head for the rooftop, we'll start evacuating from there. And plant a few snipers up there to keep an eye out on anything approaching from our flanks." His droid commander nodded and started relaying the instructions. "Take your company and form a perimeter, we don't want anything getting through till the evacuation is complete." The additional droids that Aran had assigned to him started moving to follow his orders, breaking into two groups and setting up a few dozen feet away from the building complex on either flank.

As for Kal, he made his way to the complex itself, a few droids with him to ensure the crowd made way as he headed towards the building's lobby entrance. "Alright, listen up! I want everyone to start making their way upstairs to the roof. We'll be letting you in in small batches, children, injured, and the elderly will make for the express-chutes to take you up, everyone else will start climbing the stairs." There was of course a whole lot of shouting all at once as everyone tried to get a word in to be the first ones up. He ignored them, the droids kept them back for now, and he gestured for the commander droid to follow him into the building. "Send a unit up each stairwell to ensure it is safe, station half of your remaining forces here and begin letting people in to begin climbing up, a small group every fifteen minutes. Send the rest out to keep the crowd from rushing. Just be gentle, try to keep injuries to a minimum."

The droid nodded and marched off to follow its orders, leaving him all alone in the lobby for a few moments. As Green 1 arrived at the rooftop, he ran a hand through his hair and let out a long breath of air. Preparing himself for the logistical nightmare that was to follow.

Two miles west… Sinkhole… Large boom… Noisy as I can make it… “Do. Done. Did.” Zad nodded in compliance to the orders given. The Ranger was pretty good at making things go boom, for better or worse. In this case for the better.

Two other Rangers would rustle the cattle, corral the herd; whup that steed and yee that haw then hear the scream of thousands of Infected plummeting to their doom. They were already dead.

Two miles were, yet, roughly ten thousand feet, and Zad Ruzed would cover that distance a whole lot better with a speeder bike of his own, so he followed the group to theirs to commandeer one of his then took off speeding.

The handle twisted in his hand like an enemy’s neck, burn, and the speeder bike burned engine and sped away. The Ranger did not miss a beat or skip a step, navigating his way from Point A to Point B while negotiating a way between debris and dead body.

At least one of the latter was still moving; a swift kick from outstretched leg sent the Infected flying. A backhand from the adjacent arm sent another falling. So far, so good. Do.

There was noise all around even beside the sound of the speeder: whining engines from shuttles distant, whining from AMS nearby, screams from the surrounded soon to surrender, howls from the dead and dying, and all about them the roar of victory closing in by any and every Ranger who would not yield to 98%.

“At the site,” Zad confirmed over com to his squad and leader. “Moving in.” He moved in, greeted a goon with a bolt to the head, planted charges on a downed starship by the sinkhole, and waited for the signal. “Light it up”, Trys said. Done.

The Ranger’s bike spurred like a steed afeared, whipped into the wild like an Utapau on the Rim, and whatever that meant Zad could think of it later. For now he had a safe distance to reach and, when he did, his hand would lead the way...as would his voice over comlink. Did. “Boom.”

Finger on the switch. BOOM!

The starship blew into smithereens, sending steel soaring in all directions, but they were silent against the deafening, blinding cry of a hell exploded. A cloud of red and orange and yellow ballooned above the surface of the world, plumes of black smoke dancing toward the stars.

Swirling trails of fire splayed like tentacles curled up, steel splinters as long as a man’s arm flung as shrapnel, and one witness spotted one of them impale an Infected gurgling nearby the explosion.

Were the fireworks enough? If they weren’t then Zad Ruzed would find himself galloping around the sinkhole to let off some more and then some.

Confirmation by the Blackwell Attaché meant nothing but green lights to head forward with aerial droid support. Even thinking that was an odd thing. Like using a tool for the first time without fully knowing what it does. Best way to find out was to use it when the opportunity arose. Rangers Clane and Rhrax'ra had fallen in as requested and taken up excellent positions as they moved across the elevated cat-walks. Not much further behind, Bast and Rylee were bringing up the rear. They'd likely be forced to split up just to stay mobile.

The catwalks came to an end on a rooftop of a single-story house. It had been fortified with ramshackle metals to keep infected from entering and gaining access to the crosswalk. Lieutenant Velt checked over the side with his rifle and found the street below surprisingly empty. A small handful of infected shuffled about, mindlessly groaning. Greater number must have been siphoned off towards the main landing sight nearby; the engines of shuttles drawing them towards the barricades.

Corran wasn't one to look a gift bantha in the mouth. A mechanism on the side of the house provided a draw-bridge ladder down to the street blow into a side alley. He released the level and the ladder lower steadily until it hit pavement. Slinging rifle over his shoulder, Corran slid down without using the steps. Boots hit the ground hard. The rifle immediately was secured in hand again and searching for immediate threats. A single infected bonked its head into a wall further down the alleyway, but did not attack. "Clear for descent," the blond ranger said through their secure commlinks in both Basic and Huttese.

When others came down, he'd gesture for them towards the smelting factory in the distance - only a few streets over by now. If they got there loud or quiet was a matter of choice or luck. Drawing too much hostiles from sound could slow down their rescue attempt but could also mean less threats on the return trip. Above all else, getting to the stranded was most important.

It appeared that formalities were not required when speaking with Bast. This was something Rylee could adapt to, but she could not promise the odd "Ma'am" or signifier of rank would not slip out from time to time. As instructed, Ranger Asuchi followed along after Lt. Emblai and the other group led by Lt. Velt, though the two women were a little way back from the other three to begin with. They passed along catwalks raised above ground level, perfect for avoiding what terrors may wait for them on the floors below. Eventually they reached an improvised barrier at the end of the crosswalk. Lt. Velt's group had reached it first and the blonde haired man had lowered the drawbridge down to the street beneath, taking point.

Even from the raised position at the end of the catwalk, Rylee's golden eyes could see a small handful infected citizens shambling around through the visors in her helmet. So far they did not seem to have been disturbed. This was good and things should remain that way for as long as possible. Rylee would follow Bast's instructions and follow Corran's team down to the street once they had been told it was clear. It was at this point, she whipped her trusty A280C blaster rifle from her back and held the weapon up, vigilantly searching through its sights for signs of any additional movement. Sure, there was one zombie mindlessly bumping into a wall nearby, but who knew how many others waited in the alleyways and lanes beyond? They were in the danger zone now and had to get to the smelt works to evacuate the trapped survivors before it was too late.

Clane followed suit after the Lieutenant, descending the ladder in relative stealth after slinging his special rifle. They'd managed some luck when they reached the street level, only a few infected. Blasterfire would draw more, so he withdrew a dagger from its home on his belt.

It would be foolish to leave some infected near the ladder and so he would quick step to the nearest infected and plunged the dagger into the base of it's skull, twisting the dagger to end it's existence. As the body dropped, he'd catch it with the free hand to lower it. "We should probably kill these quietly. Leaving too many along the route may screw us over in the long run."

Calloused fingers fiddled with the safety on Bast’s DG7 blaster pistol. She swallowed. The sky was an ugly hazy red-grey, like an infected cut. People—no, beings— meandered about below, some in worse states than others. A young boy, a toddler, crying. A larger form, bloated and yellowing, one of its arms black from injury. A humanoid missing patches of hair, eyes glazed in the stare of death. But it was not death. None of the beings were at peace. AMS was a mockery of life, not quite life or death, just a deteriorating in-between. The Corellian glanced over to see if Rylee was watching the unfortunate people. The rookie was tough as nails, but some things could not be unseen.

“You alright?” Bast was entirely sincere. She did not want to patronize the Pantoran, but it was more important she understood there was no shame in looking away. It was a gruesome spectacular, hard to watch, harder to leave up to the imagination.

Up ahead, Corran, Ranger Desperado, and Ranger Ra had reached the end of the catwalk and descended down a ladder. Bast followed suit, leaving the land of high indifference to that of duracrete reality, ushered by rusted metal rungs.

It was eerily quiet, with only the infected making incomprehensible noise. Dusty easily knocked one of the infected out. He had a point, but she was only carrying one blaster, and the shot would echo in every alley within a five kilometer radius. Following the other group, Bast turned off a block earlier, beckoning for Rylee to follow. Her message over the commlink could be heard by all.

“Ranger Asuchi and I will enter through the fire escape and help evacuate the injured through the main breach entrance. Any objections?”

Though she was aware of the AMS virus spreading throughout the galaxy, Ranger Asuchi had never encountered it in person. She had been fully briefed before the mission and had watched the news reports, but seeing what it had done to this planet up close and personal was unnerving. The virus was a new and unpredictable enemy, but her job was still the same. The Pantoran was a military veteran, had served years in the line of duty for her homeworld. Utapau was just another warzone, but this time the enemy was the undead. A militia formed of the citizens of the planet that had the misfortune to be exposed to AMS without warning and without protection. What the infection had done to these people was awful and Rylee mourned such a pointless loss of life, but they had a job to do and she would not be shaken.

"Never been better" was the Pantoran's reply to Bast. She then turned to see Ranger Clane sink his knife into the zombie that had been loitering near their entry point. There was a trade off to using a knife to dispatch these infected targets. Whilst it was the least noisy method, it meant you had to be within reach of the infected, risked them biting and scratching at your armor (if you had any) and after the kill were likely to end up with their blood on you. This was not the most effective way of avoiding contact with the virus. Furthermore, in a one on one situation it may have been a viable tactic, but with a horde of these ravenous monsters baring down on you, a blaster would be the sensible option. Ranger Asuchi was equipped with her usual load out comprised of her A280C rifle, Bryar pistol and combat fusion cutter, so had the means of fighting both at range and in close quarters if needed.

Eventually Bast and Rylee split from Corran's party. They were to enter the smelt works through a different route and evacuate any survivors through the main entrance. The purple haired woman followed along beside Lt. Emblai as instructed, but it was not long before the pair encountered their first obstacle. A lone infected life form stood in the middle of the street. A hulking great shaggy Wookiee with blood coating and clagging it's fur was standing over the bodies of two other beings. Rylee could not make out what they were, but it was quite obvious that they were stone dead. It was quite possible that they had been infected too, but the more dominant Wookiee had ended them in a fit of rage.

"Enemy at 12 o'clock, we should proceed with caution. Wookiees are formidable at the best of times, who knows what that virus has done to it?" warned Rylee to her superior officer, "It could quite easily wound us through our protective gear. Blasters would be the best option but we'd need to suppress the noise as much as possible. Any number of others could be near by..."

Rhax’ra followed the blonde across the walkway. As the other two descended down the ladder the Tusken kept her eyes fixed on the street below to keep a watch out for any zombies. Yes there are some but they weren't charging at the two comrades. When Clane reached the bottom the Tusken slinged her weapon then quietly moved down the ladder. Even her feet touching the ground was relatively quiet.

Unslinging her rifle she caught sight of Clane plunge his dagger into the base of the zombie's skull. Well it made sense to use the dagger instead of something noisy like a rifle. Slinging her rifle Rhax’ra pulled her Gaderffii Stick from her belt.

Following close behind Velt and Clane as they approached the Smelt Works. She really needs to come up with someway for her comlink to translate what others are saying, "What is all this she is saying?" Rhax'ra asked through her comm for some clarification. Yeah for sure she will use her tinkering skills to come up with a way to communicate and understand what others are saying when speaking basic. All the while she watched their surroundings and even spotted a zombie in an alley to their left. It wasn't close enough to be a threat though, "There is an enemy to our 9 o'clock." She told Velt and Clane.

Draco Virtus would be on his way back from orbit as he came back down. His eyes scanning the landscape as he heard from Lieutenant Trys that she needed evacuation ships being sent her way. Nodding to himself as he flicked the switch on the side of his cockpit and came over the main comlink. "Roger thar, inbound." he would switch over to the shuttles that were going back and forth.

"I need ships to regroup on me and follow me in, we got survivors needin' extract." with that he would come down to Trys's location and hover over watching the evacuation ships begin to come and land to load up the survivors. With this he would begin to engage any long range targets out that were slowly makin' their way ther. It seemed Lt Trys sent out a Ranger to to distract them and create a explosion.

It was quite effective but pockets of infected still were spread out among the masses as Draco began to make runs on the infected with his laser cannons. Doing quick strafing runs back and forth smashing them into multiple pieces as he came back around to make sure the shuttles were unharmed.

As Ranger Clane drew his blade back from the skull of a now re-dead infected, Corran found himself agreeing with the man's sentiment. Leaving too many problems on their return trip with civilians would complicate things immensely. A tight-rope needed to be walked between getting bogged down clearing a path and leaving too many dangers for the refugees. Either way, Clane needed something better than a knife to do the dirty work. "Good idea on the close-quarters weaponry, but you'll tire yourself out using a dagger. We need to get you something bigger," Lieutenant Velt cautioned. The Tusken Ranger who came down the ramp right after them drew her Gaderffii stick and hefted it dangerously. With its piercing and bludgeoning weapons on both ends, and spear-like length, the polearm was actually ideal for silent kills of low-level infected. Corran pointed to the traditional weapon, "Something like that."

He was slinging his blaster rifle over his shoulder when the voice of his Corellian partner provided her unit's plan of action. Taking a flanking action to the fire escape and getting people out via a breach. A good plan. Corran pressed his all-open commlink, "Roger that, Lt. Emblai. No objections here. We'll sweep the smelter for survivors. Contact us if you need support and we'll provide. Over and out." The blond ranger was about to set off again when Rhax'ra spoke up. Oh, duh. She didn't speak Basic. He moved to palm his forehead for forgetfulness but melt only the visor that shielded his face. Corran switched to his fluent Huttese and communicated his own orders and Bast's nearly verbatim, "<They'll be taking a fire escape on the side of the Smelt works to aid survivors. We'll clear the Smelter itself.>"

A phrik-coated vibrosword was drawn from its sheath on Lieutenant Velt's back. It had sliced the limbs of infected before and provided the heft and length to keep them at a distance. "Don't get blood in your mouth or wounds," he warned in Basic and Huttese, "Or you'll be shambling like the rest of them." Taking Rhax'ra's warning and Ranger Clane's advice, Corran swung his sword with both hands and it sent a head rolling across the pavement. Still sharp as the day it cut his face. With a silent hand-wave, he motioned for the other two to follow.

Along the path, they dispatched a few more zombies. Not many were groaning about and most were desiccated Utapauns. Tall but lanky. As they neared the smelt works, now towering above them, infected became more sparse. Soon the alleyways were barren. The trio came to an opening where the buildings cleared. A large, open space with little cover led to the front doors of the smelter. Its windows had been boarded up with metal and only the belching smoke above signaled any hope of survivors. Lieutenant Velt raised a fist to make the two other Rangers stop. Something wasn't right. What was trapping these people?

The answer came in the corrupted, belching cry of herbivore turned monstrous. It crept out from the rocky wall, defying gravity due to its gripping claws and reptilian pads. The beast's feathers were horribly molted, it's eyes dried and blacked out. Dark green and brown saliva dripped from its beak. An infected Varactyl prowled the courtyard. And it began to sniff. Looking for the Rangers.

Corran opened his commlink to the Blackwell overwatch, "Mr. Arden, we've got a problem. Big, giant, people-eating lizard. Do you have a solution for that?" If he didn't, they'd have to face this thing alone.

Rhax'ra wasn't the only Ranger present with a gaffi stick, in fact, Jaxon Clane had carved a path through battle with such a weapon, something about aiding a wandering tribe. Dusty was more a finesse fighter, something opposite of what his adopted persona was. Hells, he missed his rapier, but he definitely didn't think about the large wooden stick on his back designed just for the purpose of busting skulls. "Was a little quicker than pulling this big bastard out, L.T." he'd say with a laugh as he sheathed his dagger.

Pulling the gaffi stick free, he silently cursed Clane. His arms were definitely going to be sore tomorrow. There was one thing he knew for sure: The real Jaxon Clane was somewhere up in some kind of afterlife smiling as his pretender went to town on some undead with Captain Coruscant and a Tusken to make the Bash Rangers.

Thankfully with his pressurized suit, he didn't have to worry too much about the blood and hopefully the armor would keep the teeth at bay. Hopefully. So onward they went, slashing, bashing, and skelooping infected as they went. Dusty would hate to admit it, but he was having a helluva hoot. Even when it came down to driving the spike of the gaffi stick into the side of the head of some seven yr old devil spawn trying to take a bite out of Coruscant's Ass.

And on and on and on they went, until they reached the smelter. So close, it was he-his thoughts were cut off by the most haunting barking he had ever heard in his life and the source was the cutest infected he had ever seen in his life. The little guy made him think of his own baby varactyl aboard his ship. Gripping the blood and matter stained gaffi stick tightly he prepared himself to snuff out some cuteness. "Come on Old Yeller, time to go home.."

Things were going quiet across the Nobel, M7 and Rigel had the ship had the ship well in the air, safe from on-high. Newton was watching the live video feeds of the going-ons in Corran's AO from his screens. The droids he sent towards Lt. Aran are being directed by another ranger on the ground. Hopefully they use them well, but it saves Newton from having to direct his energy from micromanaging two different groups of droids.

Newton observed and heard through his flying droids that the Rangers there were looking to get past some of the zombies quietly, so he had his droids hang back and restraining his droids from attacking. The droids could have probably destroyed the zombies with impunity, but perhaps that would draw more droids to this location, with the sounds of blasters attracting them.

But then a giant lizard thing showed up, it had skin decay, had red, bloodshot eyes, it was obviously infected. Newton raised an eye-brow, he knew the effects on regular sentient beings, but never observed it's effect on a animal like this. "I might" he replied to Corran. Newton only had one method of dealing with that problem, his flying droids on the scene.

"Hawking Droids, raise altitude and encircle it, and fire at will." With this the flying droids would then start swarming on the creature in the courtyard, raising the altitude further to make sure the creature can't jump on them on them or claw them. They didn't have a whole lot of airspace to work with in the Utapau cities, but they had enough. They would also try to box the creature in and surronding it, attacking it from as many directions as possible with their twin-linked blasters, the beast would be backpedaling while taking fire, but it would not last.

The creature was tough, but with continued twin-blaster cannon fire from all the droids, the beast slumped down, seemingly dead again. The blaster fire would then cease. In the end, the creature be full of blaster scorch marks in it as well chunks from the beast missing. Still, Newton wasn't convinced it would be dead. "Fire at the head, now!" all the droids would then fire in sync at the beast, and when the shots connect the head of the beast would just be a bloody mess.

"Threat neutralized. You are cleared to proceed Lt. Velt" Newton would relax in his seat, after confirming through the feeds that the target won't be re-animating again, it has no head to do so.

Trys didn’t need to be told twice. As soon as Zareen gave her the go, she bolted towards the speeders. She glanced over her shoulder a few times to make sure the other Ranger wasn’t swarmed. Trys spotted another two infected on the way and some quick aiming took them down easily. She checked the first speeder but didn’t find the keycard in it. They didn’t have time to hotwire anything.

However, the ones beyond the first still had the cards in them, suggesting that the users left in a rush. Trys hopped on a speederbike and revved up the engines, hearing several other infected rushing her way.

Up ahead, the boom that echoed from Ruzed’s actions was unmistakable. Trys grinned to herself as she looked over to the side to see how Zareen was faring.

“You ready?”

As if on cue, there was a loud, collective screech behind them. A glance back confirmed that hundreds of infected had turned towards the noise. They all turned and began to charge directly towards Trys and Zareen. From here it was quite possibly the most terrifying sight ever, but Trys opted not to waste time fretting.

“Let’s fucking GO!” She shouted as she slammed on the acceleration and charged forward on the speederbike. Trys and Zareen would have to ensure that the entire massive horde followed them without breaking off to the side. If the infected began to veer, one of them would have to rush in front of them to lead them back to the straight line trajectory.

This meant that the refugee complex perimeters began to clear enough for Kalen and the droids to move in. Unfortunately this also meant that at least 50 other infected were coming in from the sides to intercept.

Distracting Infected wasn’t hard when you had the chance to throw something noisy in a different direction – though they were dangerous as all Seven Corellian Hells when faced in combat, the Infected were the new standards of “dumbass brute”. The Wookiees and Trandoshans of the Galaxy had held the title for years according to the core but she could definitively say that the Infected made even the dumbest of them look like Chandrillan Scholars.

Her noise-making distraction caught the attention of enough of the Infected that Trys was able to make it to the speeder bikes without incident and Sakas started running after her. Unlike Trys, the Infected did make note of Sakas as the noise had died down from the distraction and her pounding footsteps were louder.

Kark it all.

Drawing her pistol as she ran, she didn’t aim for the heads while she was sprinting but rather for any of their limbs or even the side of their torsos. She blasted twice, catching the two Infected closest to her in different places; she blasted the right knee of one of them apart, sending it spiraling to the ground and the other staggered off to one side as the blaster bolt to its shoulder also sent it spinning.

Infected didn’t do balance very well in her experience.

Throwing herself atop the other speeder bike, she thanked the Gods and the Forcers’ weird magic energy field that the bike had been abandoned rather than parked. She revved her bike in response to Trys’ question.

“Lets ride, LT.”

Riding close enough to the roiling masses of the Infected to get their attention was the order of the day and Sakas rode her stolen bike in a wide circle, buzzing right past several grasping hands as she did so. Swearing up a storm, she found herself grinning as she revved the arse off of her speeder bike with a laugh.

“Come on, come on! Follow the tastiest piece of meat you ever did see!”

Shooting off, Sakas would ride parallel to Trys try and make sure the whole mass of Infected was interested in at least one of them. How could that possibly go wrong, eh?

Rhax’ra looked back and forth between Velt and Clane as the two spoke to one another as she joined them at the bottom of the ladder. When Velt gestured to her Gaderffii Stivk the Tusjen caught onto, somewhat, what they are talking about. She gripped her precious weaopn tightly, watching as Clane freed his own Gaffi Stick.

He murdered one of her kind or did he buy it from someone who had it? Rhax’ra remained silent as she observed how the man held the weapon in his hands. Which appeared similar to how someone inexperienced with the heavy weapon would hold it. Clearly the man doesn't use his Gaffi Stick often.

The Tusken's attention was then drawn back to Velt as he told her what the woman was saying through the comm. So that was what Lt. Emblai was saying. Alright. Following after the Lieutenant, Rhax'ra watched him cut down the one she warned him about. But it seemed the one Velt cut down isn't the only one. Dusty will take out one as well followed by Rhax’ra taking out a teenage Utapuan by tripping it up with the bent end of her Stick and running the spear end through it's skull.

Continuing to follow Velt she came to a stop when the Lieutenant raised a closed fist to tell them to stop. Looking to Dusty she spoke up, "If you're having a hard time using your Gaderffii Stick it's because you are holding it wrong. Hold it like this." She told him and showed the other Ranger how she is holding hers. Rhax'ra heard the cry from strange beast that she has never seen before in her life. How wre tgey supposed to take that thing out? Though the beast was taken care of through the use of some droids.

She glanced around expecting some more zombies to show up, holding her weapon tightly as she waited for Velt to give the signal for them to get moving.

Having two squad-mates armed with Gaffi sticks proved to be an unexpected boon. Blasters were too loud, bladed weapons too close and infective if used improperly. The traditional weapon of the Tusken people with its length and heft proved nearly the perfect melee weapon against these types of biological enemies. A few heads smashed like melons provided all the proof. Corran overheard Rhax'ra speak in Huttese to Clane about holding his weapon correctly and he decided not to help translate. Partially because a physical demonstration would be easy to recognize and his attention was glued to the haunting, deformed lizard in the courtyard.

Drones swept in like a miniature flight of starfighters. They bobbed and hovered about the open space, staying above the reach of the animal. A hail of blaster fire hounded it from all angles. Unable to make sense of the attackers, it writhed backwards. Not nearly enough. It fell to the dirt in a great, last roar, sending dust puffing up all around it. A firing squad of hovering droids obliterated the head in unison, truly felling the beast for good. Lieutenant Velt blinked in astonishment. Those Blackwell machines were no toys. "Good shooting, Mr. Arden," the blond ranger replied to the executive, "Thanks for the assist. Proceeding on foot, over and out."

A two-fingered gesture forward ordered the other two Rangers to follow on Corran's tail. He made sure to give the corpse a wide berth. You never knew if something like that would rear up like a decapitated fowl and crush somebody. Ahead of them the grey, rust down, and black monolith beckoned. All the visible entrances on the ground floor like doors and windows were nailed or welded shut with random bits of metal. At first glance, there didn't seem to be an easy way in. Lieutenant Velt pressed on his commlink to Bast's unit, "Lt. Emblai, we've made it to the smelter. Trying to find a way in. Over and out." Keeping their counterparts informed of their progress was a good way to make sure they all stayed vertical.

Corran craned his neck to look at any obvious latter or mechanism to get in. If the locals had survived here, they must have had a way to get in or out in case of supply runs or emergencies. "Let's take a look around," he said to Clane and Rhax'ra, "See if we can find something." The trio didn't have a lot of time. While the Blackwell droids had been impressively effective against a larger target, their blaster fire might have attracted a larger gathering of infected by sound alone. If they got cornered in the open like this, things wouldn't look good.

Having grown up on Tattooine, Dusty was fairly used to signing to Tuskens, and he had felt bad that it had taken him this long to put together that their comrade didn't even speak basic. So, he'd sign back. <"My thanks my friend, it's been some time since I have had to use one of these.. and these old bones aren't what they used to be.">

When he turned back to face the beast, Blackwell droids would swoop in and hit the poor thing with the prenup. "Tell that Blackstone Guy, that if we make it out of this, drinks are on me." He almost felt bad, moreso for the beast than the civilians. Besides, the locals were already creepy enough, infected? Nightmare fuel. He'd need a good few doses of therapy after this mission. The downside to the droids, they were -very- loud. "We'll definitely need to move quick. Those walkers are definitely gonna be drawn here by that." he'd say, turning to inspect their rear. "Worst comes to worst.. we may have to try to climb a bit. Get some high ground between us and any that come, if we can't find an immediate entrance."

Turning back briefly to the monolith, his visor would sweep upwards, maybe his jumpboots would allow him to get to an upper window that wasn't boarded up.
