DESCRIPTION​

Electrokinesis, not to be confused with the more maleficent Force lightning, is a rare Jedi Force ability that allowed for the manipulation of electricity for offense and defense. It is also known as purple lightning or Electric Judgement in some circles. The use of this ability, even for those who manage to achieve it, is controversial due to its similarities to the malignant nature of Sith lightning.It is a power that makes use of both natural electricity and bio-electricity, rather than warped Force energy like its dark side counterpart, and allows a Jedi to create, shape, and manipulate said electricity.

The most common application of this power is to emit powerful electrical blasts of energy from the hands or fingertips, but, depending on the degree of mastery one has with this ability, it can have a variety of other applications as well. The most common is to lace blasts of kinetic energy or a lightsaber with the electricity. However, this does require separate uses of the Force and can thus be more tiring than a simple arc from the fingers.

Jedi Masters were often capable of altering their environment, manipulating pre-existing weather conditions and a super-charged atmosphere to call down bolts of lightning from a stormy sky. These bolts could only be called down one at a time, but they had all of the impact and power of a natural lightning bolt. Any use of this ability required complete concentration and took up to a minute to prepare the proper weather conditions.

Because it is formed of natural electricity, brought forth by the Force, a Jedi is able to use this power without using the dark side of the Force. As a result, the electrical energy produced by this technique contains no malice or negative emotions, and does not require warping the Force (as with Force lightning) to generate electrical blasts. However, this means that attacks borne of this ability tend to be weaker than Force lightning, leading most Sith to consider it a facsimile of their ability.

SPECIAL NOTES​

This ability is always weaker than Force Lightning, often as much as half the strength of true Sith Lightning. It is important to understand that this ability is largely about intent. If the intent of the Force users is to torture or kill rather than capture or incapacitate it becomes Force Lightning and is inherently corrupting. Doing so is grounds for immediate dismissal from any light side organization. Use against other organics is highly discouraged by the Jedi Order.
