EDEN

System

Region Outer Rim.
Coordinates Somewhere in the bottom-left corner of F-17; hidden behind a massive nebula and an asteroid belt.
Hyperlane(s) None.
Orbital Period Roughly 333 standard days.

Climate The climate on Eden varies from place to place. Due to the large planet's lack of rotation, one half of Eden is permanently in the light; and the other permanently in darkness; which makes for an extreme variation between the light side's weather and the dark side's. For example, there is far less rain on the dark side of Eden than on the light side, due to it's lack of heat from the system's star to cause evaporation. Concurrently, there is also a lack of 'oxygen-based' life on the dark side ~ instead it has far more unique and terrifying creatures (which I will delve into later).

Atmosphere Mostly Type I (breathable), parts of the Dark Side are Type II.

Sky From purple to blue to orange on the Light Side ~ Almost pitch black on the Dark Side.

Terrain

Light Side~
Few mountain ranges.
Many castle ruins.
Countless beautiful, dense forests; colours of foliage range from green to orange and even to purple.
Most of the Light Side has Overlands.
Common hot springs.

Dark Side~
Lava lakes are common.
Many cave systems.
Almost 100% rugged, rocky terrain.
High mineral density.
Volcanic activity high.

On the dark side of Eden, the geography of the planet is rugged and black, covered in sharp rocks and riddled with lava pools and complex cave systems. On the other, the ground is covered in foliage and rich soil (fuelled by the radiant, golden hot springs heated by the dark side's volcanoes {see top}), with a lack of topographical movement, and makes for one of the most habitable planets known to any race. However, on both sides, many of these things will vary. Some places on the Light Side have very rugged terrain, for example, and some parts of the Dark Side have flat, and on rare occasions, even fertile landscapes.

The dangerous plant-life of Eden

However, hidden behind it's stunning beauty - although nowhere near as dangerous as the Dark Side - the Light Side is riddled with predators and pitfalls of every kind. Most of Eden's Light Side terrain could be described as (slightly) similar to that of Endor, but more exotic ~ instead with man-eating plants and colourful, poisonous plant-life.

Arguably the most visually stunning aspect of Eden is it's aptly-named Overlands: mountains, covered in foliage, floating, seemingly locked in an eternal battle with gravity (the reasoning behind the gliding mountains is nothing ethereal; the rocks float due to the planet's unique magnetic field).

The Overlands of Eden

Rotation One of the things that makes Eden such a unique planet is it's lack of rotation. As it orbits the star at the centre of it's system, Eden's relative rotation is fixed to the star ~ rendering one side permanently in darkness, and the other permanently in the light.

The Dark Side of Eden

Inhabitants Due to it's massive surface area, Eden is inhabited by many, many non-sentient creatures ~ locals speculate only ten percent have been documented so far.

Some of the known creatures include:
Parroda ~ usually Light Side ~ massive, albino, Liger-like creatures with daggers for teeth.
Valkyrii ~ usually Light Side ~ often white; scaly, winged beasts whose skin is impenetrable to blaster fire. Only the most courageous of Guardians and Wanderers dare tame these wondrous beasts.
Thraku ~ usually Dark Side ~ rare, mind-blowingly gigantic and extremely hostile monsters.

The dominant sentient society that inhabits Eden are known as Edians ~ a native, force-sensitive near-human race. Outsiders - smugglers and people hiding from galactic authorities - frequent the planet, repeatedly taking advantage of its invisibility to Jedi, Republic and Sith authorities over the years. However, there are also rumours of another sentient race that lives solely on the dark side of Eden, nicknamed "Ghosts", or more officially, Darians; and although very no credible sources have ever seen them, Edians have discovered many rock formations on the Dark Side that look an awful lot like sculptures and statues.

Culture The general population of Raen lived simple lives (before the war): working as craftsmen, smiths, hunters, cooks, as well as poets and historians, guardians (basically knights) and venturers, etcetera. Art was among the most loved topics for Edians, and many great poets and writers would gather to tell their stories in theatres and halls. Guardians, the great protectors of their magnificent city, are appointed by the princess herself, and will often sacrifice their own life for their home. Sadly, that wouldn't be enough when defending from an invasion by Imperial forces.

Now, the last Edians try to rebuild their homes, following the war; working as hunter-gatherers for the most part, and devoid of any local 'currency' except food and water.

For Edians who lived outside of Raen City in the wilderness of the Light Side of the planet, known as the Rangers, life is all about adventure, courage and harmony with nature. Great rangers, with their natural force sensitivity, strive live at peace with all creatures and tame even the most bloodthirsty of predators.

Resources The interesting thing about Eden's rings are their high density of kyber crystals, leading some to believe that Lyrin was a very kyber-dense planet before the collision. This is also thought to be why Eden itself has such a high amount of kyber, although most kyber found on Eden can only be found on the dark side. Aside from Eden's kyber, specifically on the mineral-rich dark side, it is also has a relatively high presence of chromium and gold.

Besides their mineral deposits, Eden also has all sorts of edible plant life. These range from simple fruits to some that can be used for narcotic purposes.

Government Most of Eden's vast forests and beautiful landscape remains to be explored, but the closest thing to a sort of 'governing' body for the planet was the Empire of Eden, in the only city on the planet, Raen City (the city was once known simply as 'Eden', however Raen City was renamed after it's princess to account for the entire planet being named after the city). Everywhere else on Eden is an anarchy, and as no major factions have attempted to gain control for the planet yet, it has become somewhat of a hideout for smugglers.

Technology Edians are currently nowhere near as advanced as most of the galaxy, and their prime weapons are swords, bows and arrows, and the Force (although this is likely to change drastically due to Eden being discovered by the outside galaxy in the near future). These weapons do suffice when hunting deer-like creatures for food, but obviously would not stand the slightest chance if they were to come across an outsider.

The Edian's inability to build spacecraft was one of the main reasons the planet remained unknown to the rest of the known galaxy; although it is also to do with the fact that it's system is full of meteors and asteroids, and as such it takes a skilled pilot to find his way to the planet alive. However, since the recent end to their war with their Sith captors, Edian philosophers have been studying the remnants of Sith machinery.

Satellites
Moons ~ Three ~ Kyth, Lyrin and Mythrae.

Lyrin ~ the smallest of the three, Lyrin is the main source of light for the Dark Side of the planet ~ orbit length: 2 standard days ~ size: 0.05 of Eden

Mythrae ~ although slightly bigger than Lyrin, Mythrae seems smaller in the sky due to its vastly wide orbit ~ orbit length: 37 standard days ~ size: 0.2 of Eden

e1dbb13ad4747f0d06d45766bc7df045.jpg

Kyth ~ Moon of Eden

Kyth ~ the biggest of the three moons, with a very wide, elliptical orbit that passes by Eden causing occasional volcanic activity on the Dark Side. Unlike Lyrin and Mythrae, Kyth is a fertile, habitable planet with plants and animals ~ orbit length: 111 standard days ~ size: 0.¯3 of Eden

Many, many millions of years ago, Eden ~ a very wide orbiting and therefore hostile planet at the time ~ was struck by a dwarf planet named Lyrin. This collision caused Eden's orbit around the system's star to become more circular (and therefore habitable), as well as bringing about it's kyber-filled rings and it's moon: still to this day named Lyrin. Eden's large size (1.5 Earth), and therefore strong gravitational field, means that it can hold onto moons that are very far away; less of the case is Lyrin, but mainly Mythrae ~ a small golf-ball-sized circle seen in Eden's magenta skies.

History The history of all life on Eden is all thanks to its collision with Lyrin. But the epic novel that is Eden's history was only just getting started. In much more recent history, the Edian equivalents of barons and lords vied for territory, clashing in massive battles. Castles rose and castles fell. A small group of honourable warriors known as the Guardians of Eden gathered their friends and family, and built walls around their small village, to keep out the attacking knights and barons, as well as the aggressive prowls of Parroda. This village would, under many years of protection by the Guardians of Eden, grow into the planets capital, Eden City.

Then, in very recent history, Imperial forces set fire to Eden City, and killed a large part of the Edian population. The rest of them were put in starcraft and sent across the galaxy to be used as slaves. But the Sith who oversaw the operation under anticipated the Edian population's will to live, and many Edians rebelled and took over control of the starships, stealing weapons and bringing them back down to Eden.

The last survivors, known as the Remnant, fought back (as detailed in the poem "When They Reach The End" by an Anonymous Edian poet {in my signature}) with the help of bounty hunters and smugglers who didn't want Eden ~ their safe haven from authorities ~ to become another imperial-controlled planet, and many of them died taking back Eden City. Finally, the Sith on Eden were completely killed off, and all Sith who knew of the covert operation to take Eden were hunted down and killed by the surviving bounty hunters; effectively making Eden unknown to all Sith authorities.

Following the war, Orissa Raen, the Duchess who led the rebellion, was unanimously crowned Princess of the Remnant. Now, she leads the fractured people group in rebuilding what they renamed Raen City, and expanding their territory.

Intent Eden would be perfect to become an hideout for people in hiding / on the run from authorities (as in, smugglers, people with bounties on their heads, etc.); to make Eden their safe haven, as it's invisible to both Sith and Jedi authorities, hidden behind the nebula and the asteroid cloud that fills almost the entirety of the system.

Eden would also be a great starting point for a neutrally-aligned faction that I am considering creating.

Accepted.

Run any additions by me before you make them. This planet and its people have a lot of potential. I'm eager to see them in the RP.

Will do.

Also, if you have any ideas for improving the planet (seeing as you said you might make a char from Eden), please let me know!
