The Ranger HQ was hit.

And their apartment was blown to crap.

His mom hadn't even been on the planet but he had and he hadn't known she wasn't. Not like she usually told him about her missions but it still kind of sucked to find out that she wasn't in any danger after throwing himself into the line of fire. The relief was enough that he didn't feel even slightly annoyed about it though, not really. Oh sure he made a show of being annoyed but it was just that really; nothing but a show. It would have been a bit weird if he'd just gushed about how happy he was that she was alright.

They were close but he wasn't really the hugging type these days.

Trouble with finding out he was Force sensitive was finding out abilities one at a time and having no clue if he was doing them right or if he was just imagining them. He'd given his mom a hug a couple months ago and gotten a flash of a memory of the gloves she was wearing being used to break a guy's nose. It had been a trippy experience the first time but having it happen again would probably give the game away... and he really didn't want his mom to find out he was one of the space-wizarding-weirdos by deducing it herself from clues.

She deserved to hear it from him directly but he just didn't know how to say it. How was he gonna tell her 'sorry mom but I got magic powers so I guess off I go to wave a laser sword around and get into an eternal war'? She'd made sure he knew how to defend himself but she'd never given him the impression she wanted him in the Rangers, let alone on the front-lines of a war.

He could have done something productive with his time afterward but he didn't feel like it. Hence why he was sitting around, smoking a cigara, with both hands elbow-deep in a swoop bike. It wasn't his bike (which anyone who knew him at all was thankful for) but he'd told the guy he could make it run a bit better so he was doing it.

Crix just wanted to focus on something simple and fixing up a bike counted.

She was bored to kriffin' tears.

Most of her pals had been unresponsive on the comms, Tweeter, and Instapost. All the clubs were for '
adults', like they even bothered to card-check, and her dad gave her a credit limit to spend of only, like, twenty. Didn't he know how much care her hair needed just to be washed every day? Honestly.

She had her earbuds in, popping along to her latest find, the Sparks. Not bad, bit of a vintage name, but their aesthetic was all she lived for, really. Decked out in a black crop top turtlenecl, blue synthweave shorts, and a long dark jacket to her knees and her knee-high boots, Willa felt pretty dang good about herself. But there was much to be said about others' vibes just not pingin' with hers, and one of which was one of her own buddies.

Speak of tha' devil, there he is, she thought to herself, grinning. Oh, he was cute, in a wholesome, good-boy straightlaced way. The cigara, however, was somethin' new, and she just had to stare for a beat before strolling over, pulling her earbuds free. "'Nother project, Crix?" she beamed, hands on her hips. She had to admit, he was good with machines. Better than she was, anyways, she just liked to ride. "Looks kinda dinged up, need a caf?" Not that she did, but from the mood he was vibing, it was coming off in waves and it was big. Like when he took off the other day big.

He'd fess up eventually, or at least she'd try to get him to fess. Or just try. Or hells, even just chill. That would be rad. But where was the rest of the gang?

Kark, he almost jumped.

Not because Willa surprised him so much as he had a feeling that she was behind him before she gave any indication that she was, before he heard her footsteps and before she spoke. It was probably one of those weird, Force related, things that he was going to have to get used to. How the hells Jedi didn't twitch all the time, knowing where people were before they came within twenty feet of them, was beyond him.

Probably just got really good at working on their poker faces or something. Thankfully for him, he didn't jump so he didn't almost swallow his cigara. Instead he rolled it around from the centre of his mouth to the corner as he eyed her for a moment with a slightly lop-sided grin.

"Trying to get me on a caf date Willa? I'm flattered."
he flirted idly before taking a pull from the cigara and exhaling the smoke through his nose, "Get me a double shot and I'll remember to wash my hands before I grub up your outfit and your dad shites himself over the mess."

He enjoyed teasing Willa and even on a day like today it helped relax him a little.

"Guy round the corner from my place - got tired of hearing his engine screaming in protest so figured I'd lend a hand."

She gave a broad smirk at his reply, brows waggling teasingly. "Oooh yeah, you're such a tough guy, yeah?" she snickered, a hand propped on her hip. "I dunno, grease stains on my shorts might enhance the look," she teased right back. It was always harmless, meaningless flirtatious attitude. He was cute and all, but they were buds. Peeps that gelled together pretty well, if she was to be frank. "Seen any other of the group?" she tilted her head, eyeing up and down the street with pursed lips.

"With how quiet its' been, ya woulda thought people'd be eager to be hoppin' around again," she muttered, but winked at him again. "Double shot it is. An' I'll even cover for the rest, if they should happen ta be walking by." She never could get the Core accent right; too much of her mother in her, much to her father's dismay. And he liked reminding her of that fact. Turning off on one heel, she kept bouncing along, popping in an earbud once more.

Who knew, maybe more of their little band would show. She couldn't explain it, but something about Crix today made her want to try harder to make him smile. Or at least some sorta reaction other that distant look in his eyes.

Tough guy? Oh yeah that was him to a T for sure!

She was such a smartass.

"Tough enough for you, titch."
he shot back with a short bark of a laugh that almost did have him swallowing his cigara, "If your look involves oil and grease you might be working a bit too hard darlin'."

He made a point of blowing a ring of cigara smoke in her general direction and spat his almost-spent cigara out to the side. Removing his hands from inside the belly of the machine, he leaned back on his hands and just looked up at the towering buildings of Coruscant and the illusion of the sky above.

And it was an illusion - the 'stars' above them right now were just endless rows of speeders and spaceships stuck in a never-ending cycle of traffic.

"If they make their way over I'll do us all a favour and not start this thing up."
he grimaced, rubbing at the bridge of his nose, smudging some grease across it as he glared at the swoop bike, "Thing backs up worse than a Hutt eating his second favorite twi-lek slave girl..."

He paused, tilting his head before shaking it.

"Nah that one doesn't work as slang."

Speaking of engines- here came Enby now, the modified engine of her Skyblade swoop bike rumbling loudly through the night air. Swirling and chaotic pain designs, normally fairly muted colours, glowed brightly bright along with her outfit each time she past by the shining neon lights of Coruscant. She'd been one of the few friends who responded, and as she wasn't doing anything better, had hopped on her bike to go hang out. Why not, right?

The swoop slowed rapidly when it approached the other two, spinning into a stylish flourish and braking to a full stop a full one-eighty degrees from the direction it had been coming from. Enby laughed and hopped off the bike after setting it to neutral, approaching the two with an energetic wave and an adjustment of her gleaming cap.

"Yo, what's up!?" she cheered out, dropping the mask over her lower face down around her neck now that she was off the bike. She had all-natural eye protection, but that wouldn't stop stuff getting in her mouth. Plus, y'know, fashion. She walked over to the two, gave Willa a once-over and a wink, and then leaned over Crix to look at his handiwork, triangular earrings glimmering in the half light.

"Watcha doin' to it? Gonna be fast?" Something about Crix seemed off today, she could just feel it. She bet it had something to do his mom's work exploding all over the place, not that it took a genius to figure that much out. She gave him an affectionate slap on the shoulder by way personalized greeting and leaned up against the nearby wall. He looked alright, even with the sludge from working his mechanical magic on a speeder, but something about his face, maybe?

He didn't need the Force to tell him that Enby was coming.

If she managed to achieve her dream of being even more neon then he would be able to spot her from space as opposed to the half a mile he could see her from as she was now. Reaching into his pockets, he searched for a moment before fishing out his pack of cigara. Tossing one in Willa's direction, he would flick one to Enby as well as she approached.

True enough he didn't have anything on her stupid-levels of accuracy when it came to throwing things but even he could toss a cigara over a few feet.

Of course she immediately zeroed in on the swoop bike he was working on - sometimes he got the impression she might like the fact that he could repair and tune up her bike more than she liked actually hanging out with him. Just being around her for a few seconds put that to rest though. He was trying to be 'more in tune' with the emotions of people around him, like all the holovids and crap said Jedi were able to be.

There must have been a trick to it he just wasn't getting though cus he didn't feel anything. He knew she was hyper but that was just because she was Enby; she was always hyper. Crix didn't go for another cigara himself though, he didn't want to form an addiction to the stuff and he could quit any time he wanted.

His right hand shook a little bit so he quickly shook it out, acting like it was no big deal but feeling a little bit worried that it'd been happening at odd points since the explosions and the HQ and all that... stuff.

"Yeah just..."
he shrugged a little bit, "Rigging it to run quieter at top speed you know? Some of the guys around here have no riding ettiquite. Always riding too hard, too fast and never treating them right and gentle, you know?"

She sniggered at his reply, waving her hands down her front with an exaggerated waggle of her eyebrows. "Look, I ain't sayin' nothin', handsome, but perhaps a little grease might spice up my latest album look," she teased back, hands propping on her hips. At the flashy entrance of Enby, however, a broad grin split her lips, and she popped the girl an air kiss and a wink. "Hey boo," came the cooing reply. "Lookin' mighty shiny with your new ride, slick."

Like Willa, the lady came over to inspect Crix's new habit. Well, the bikes, not the smokes. Her pa often lectured her on hanging with these kids, but they were memories, right? If she lived long enough, she'd need somethin' sweet. An' they were good inspo for her new beats.

Brown eyes caught the faintest tremor to Crix' hand, and for just a moment, the faintest frown popped on her brows, pursed in her lips. But soon it was replaced with a coy grin, dark brows arched in a look of sly mischief.
"Don't go droolin' on it, Pinky," she teased Enby, popping the girl's hip with her own. "He wants his new 'ject all set for the lucky guy, no good for us grease monkeys yeah?" She winked again at Crix, turning away. "I'm gettin' those cafs 'round the corner; got anything you want too, doll?" she tossed over her shoulder, looking at the neon girl.

The situation was so relaxed, so normal, that Crix could begin to feel himself relax a little bit with every minute that went by, every little in-joke and witty comment. These two girls were two of the people he felt most comfortable with in the Galaxy and it had that kind of effect on him. Listening to them flirt and joke with each other made him grin as he leaned back against the propped up swoop bike to just enjoy it for a moment.

If he kept up this level of sap he might start getting wrinkles though so he just flicked some grease off his fingers at Willa - sure she said she wouldn't mind but having it splashed on her face was probably not what she had in mind.

"Off to grab the caf, you."
he joked with her, "I'll get the next round, promise, just gotta get the mouth-breather who owns this swoop to pay me."

He wasn't messing around with it for free just because he liked them running quieter when he was looking to get to sleep after all - he needed credits now more than ever. Going back to the swoop bike, he started messing around with the exhaust but he wasn't really doing much to it. If either of them noticed they would see he was basically tuning it up and then immediately putting it back the way it was, just wanting to do something with his hands.

Still though he did need to bite the blaster and get something over with...

"Either of you got room for me to crash at yours tonight?"
he asked, trying to act nonchalant about the sudden request, "Just... looking for a change of scenery, you know?"

Why didn't he just tell them?

Well because he was so close to them he didn't want them to overreact about the fact that the Sith had bombed the crap out of his apartment as part of their attack on the Rangers. There was nothing to worry about!

Enby grinned wolfishly toward Willa and gave her a very light tap on the arm with her fist. "Shiney's right, babe. S'too bad y'can't see it properly, though," she teased. Wasn't Willa's fault she couldn't see in ultraviolet, but at least there were plenty of lights around that reacted with the stuff Enby used for paint. ""An' I'm not droolin' on it, I just like watchin' him work. His face gets all serious, it's adorable." Enby only teased them 'cause she liked them, and figured they knew enough by now that dislike looked a lot different. It was a Firrerreon thing. Probably. She caught the cigarra between a couple fingers and slipped it between her coloured lips, lighting it with the lighter from inside her jacket and exhaling a cloud of cheap smoke.

"Nah, I'm good on caf."

Speaking of Firrerreon things, she couldn't help but pick up the sound what seemed to be an exhaust system being repeatedly adjusted back and forth. There was a reason she knew when her bike needed a tune up, it was the sounds the engine made. That probably wasn't right, but she didn't feel like bringing it up and making it awkward. He definitely was giving off weird vibes and his face was kinda-sorty scrunchy looking in places. It was a nice face and all, but it was off.

"Yeah, sure ya can. There's no one at my place anyway." Envy offered, shrugging. Really there were only people there during the day most of time and they generally weren't her parents. Not that they'd care, anyway, she guessed. S'not like they were dating.

They'd been on Coruscant for at least a two weeks now. Riyo was starting to get a little familiar with the planet again. 'at least he hasn't tried hopping to a different planet yet.' he had heard his father jokingly say. Well, Riyocho had a tendency to go where he wanted, regardless of what his parents or anybody else thought. Even if that place was a system or two away.

The teen pulled out a piece of light green gum and popped it into his mouth as he walked along the skywalk. Atop his head sitting over his hair was his glowing LED rimmed mask. The kid put the gum back in his jacket pocket since he had only just opened it. Coruscant was interesting enough to not need him to hop around. There were always things to do and this wasn't his family's first time here. A few years back Drew family had been on Coruscant for over a year. It had been one of the more fun periods of time in Riyocho's life. The youth was glad to be back in the city spanning planet.

Suddenly, Riyocho's jaw clenched up and he his pursed. He forgot the gum he had picked was the ultra-sour kind. His eyes darted for a moment but glad that nobody saw his eyes beginning to water with how sour it was. He continued to chew it for a bit as he walked but it quickly lost its flavor.

"Never enough vacation days..."" He said to outloud as he heard the tail end of what the Zabrak had shouted. The He gave a friendly wave, wondering if Crix remembered him. At least that was what Riyocho hoped his name was. He double checked on his friends list which he had yet to update. So hopefully the Zabrak hadn't gone through some name change. There were a few other people the pantoran had texted before arriving but so far nobody had responded. "You don't happen to rent or sell bikes too?" The mechanic's mother had come up on the news once or twice even if Riyocho remembered correctly. But the teen didn't want to bring that up with the guy who maybe didn't even remember him from a few years ago. There were others there too, which each got a bit of a blushed smile turning his blue skin a shade of dark purple. "Hey"

Crix made sure to try and keep his face looking more neutral as he worked on the swoop bike. Not just to prove Enby wrong but, yeah, to prove her wrong. His concentration face was full of steely determination - it was decidedly NOT adorable or whatever else she wanted to call it. His cheeks were a little bit flush at her choice of words but that wasn't anything out of the ordinary.

Enby being Enby.

Though having somewhere to actually sleep that didn't involve burning through the emergency credits his mom had set aside for him was nice. Enough to let him relax just a little bit and breathe out slowly. He flashed her a grin that probably didn't hide how genuinely grateful he was for it.

"Thanks B - I'll make sure I make myself useful."
he joked with a roll of his eyes, "Give that death-trap you call a bike a quick tune up or something, alright?"

He went ahead and fixed the exhaust, no longer feeling like he needed to mess around.

Spotting Riyocho coming through, he pulled one of his arms free from the swoop to give the other teen a quick wave before he began sealing the bike back up. He'd done what he said he would do for the guy and he wasn't going to do a single extra thing for free. If he wanted anything else he'd have to pay extra.

"Hey Yo-Cho."
he grinned a little bit as he wiped his hands on a rag he'd been carrying around for just such a use, "'fraid not. This one is just some jerkoff's bike that he's been riding around. You know the one who rides past our apartment block at like, 3am, with the busted arse exhaust? Told him I'd fix it for caf costs."

Anything to stop the headache... of course he immediately noticed the way the blue guy get more purple. Not that he blamed the dude - his friends were pretty hot.

N-not that he ever spent long looking!

Ah crap now his cheeks were warm. Thankfully it was hard to tell when a Zabrak blushed.

She didn't flinch away from the grease slung her way, but a few droplets landed on her cheeks. Brown eyes sparkled with dangerous delight as she swaggered away, earbuds still in place. "Don't be jelly~" she cooed in a singsong voice, "I know it looks better on me..."

She would have offered a place to crash at hers, but for once the old man was sticking it out on home base. Why he even bothered she had no idea, there was nothing to do that was interesting.
Gem of the Core Worlds my ass, she thought bitterly.

When she came back with the caf, there was a fourth to their little group. Some Pinky with blue skin, kinda cute in a lil' kid sort of way. Her head bopping to the music on her headphones, she handed over Crix his caf before eyeing over the edge of her caf to the newcomer, brown-gold eyes sparkling with mischief.

"Well hey there handsome,"
she cooed, sidling over. "Whatcha doin' this side of the tracks? Ain't seen ya since chem class," black brows waggling teasingly as she bumped her hip against him. Her eyes skipped over her other friends, a smirk touching her lips. "Got a new song, gonna upload tonight. Y'all game to listen?"

He had been running for what seemed like ages. Emryc had been among the group sent to cause disruption on Coruscant. He was way out of his element, but he wasn’t allowed to express that. Instead, he used his fear to fuel his rage and lash out with his unbridled powers. Now that the Sith were in all out war, he didn’t have dedicated time to train and control the Force.

The Sector Ranger HQ was blown up, and he could only hope that Detective Aran died in the blast. He was split off from the rest of his group and forced to find his own way off the planet. Emryc was exhausted and out of breath, looking over his shoulder constantly.

As he leaned against a building to catch his breath, he could pick up a faint Force signature. He paused to focus for a moment, honing in on the presence that felt so very different than what he sensed in Sith. Or even Jedi for that matter.

Emryc peeked over the edge to see a group of people around his age gathered around a bike. It was just fixed and had the engines running as it was tested. He knew this may be his only way out, and he ignored the other Force presence for now.

Gathering up the Force in his hand, he abruptly sent a concussive blast at the group to send them flying in different directions. He bolted into the scene, intending to jump on the bike and quickly make a getaway.

The pantoran's mouth quirked into a smile for a moment at how Crix greeted him. He had forgotten that had been a nickname here. At least one of them. Checking out the bike, the kid listened and frowned at the bad news about the bike.

Riyocho's spirits were lifted however a bit after noticing other friends from the past. He reflexively returned the hip bump with the hints of a grin on his face. "Family moved off planet. Now I'm back..." He shrugged over simplifying it. He didn't want to bore them with his life story. "Oh you're recording songs now?" Maybe she had been doing that before. The pantoran took a few steps around the garage, taking it in. But eventually he came back around, looking outside after seeing Crix rev up the bike. A meschiveous glint in his eye had a bad idea building before he looked out into the evening air before his world was suddenly thrown upside down.

The Pantoran was thrown back several meters before being stopped by a wall. All he could do was slump to the ground. Blinking, he tried getting to his feet, reaching for anything that could help him pull himself up while trying to slide back up the wall he had just been thrown against. Coughing. There was a lot more coughing than he would have expected. He blinked at the bike, wondering why it didn't look damaged. Hadn't it exploded? Who was that running towards them?

She smirked, about to offer up some sort of smart reply. Riyo was smart, light and more than a little more fun to mess with every now and then. She was about to split the news; her upload was about to go viral-- when something ticked at her senses. It felt like danger... but this is Coruscant, danger is everywhe--

She barely finished that thought when a blast forcefully shoved her off her feet. She grunted as her world tilted crazily, putting up her hands to catch herself, scraping her palms on the duracrete, then her knees when she thudded back to ground.
Aw, kriff, that hurt! She snarled internally, looking up to see her friends. She lifted into a crouch, prepared to ask them what the hell they were trying to pull, anger immediately flaring up in her chest at what felt like a practical joke... when some strange little prankster started bolting towards Crix' project.

Anger roared to life in her chest. The guy destroyed the caf she bought and made her scrape up, and attacked them.

Kark it, he was a cutie. But he was gonna be a hurtin' cutie in a split sec.

Digging the balls of her feet down, she sprang up, intending to close the distance and tackle the kid if she had to. The movement felt different... faster. Stronger. She couldn't explain it, but she wasn't gonna wait to figure out why. However, her knees friggin' hurt. If he tore a hole in her jacket or somethin', he was gonna have to pay for it.

Family moving off planet with you and getting pulled up, roots and all? Yeah that kind of thing sounded familiar even if he had technically not been gone all that long. He'd come back and mostly nothing had changed. What HAD changed was him but, hey, that was apparently a normal thing for people his age, right?

He rolled his eyes playfully.

"She records but does anybody listen?" he joked likely as he sipped at his caf, stepping away from the bike, "Nah but seriously she's got a couple decent ones and..."

Crix trailed off.

There was a split second where he could have sworn he felt something wrong with the Galaxy before he was suddenly moving. Something hit him all along one side of his body, flinging him in a different direction and sending him spiraling to the ground. Cursing at the hot coffee that splashed on him, he spun around on the ground to see someone new.

Someone who was, apparently, trying to steal the karking bike.

So Crix drew on him.

His blaster had been fixed permanently into the stun setting so he didn't even feel too bad about it either. Of course his draw wasn't as smooth as his mom's so it took him a second to get it properly sat right in his hand before he fired twice. His accuracy was as best as he could make it but it wasn't gonna win awards.

"Off the bike ya bloody fecking wanker!" he growled, "It's not even mine!"

Enby turned to look toward the new arrival before he spoke, the sound of his footsteps giving him away. She grinned at him, leaning back into the wall. "Hey blue," she greeted simply before her attention was drawn to Willa's return. "New stuff? Gimme a listen, totally."

While everyone else was talking the sound of hurried footsteps drew her attention, barely audible over the speeder's engine. She'd just been turning to see who it was when she felt something like a wall of air impact her, sending her spiraling ass over head along the edge of the wall away from the speeder. Enby twisted her body in the air, scraping briefly along the ground before tumbling into a roll and back to her feet. Like a switch was flipped her skin shifted to silver tones, eyes dilated, and prominent canines bared in a snarl. A throaty growl of anger rumbled from behind her fangs as she rose back up, increasing in volume as she spotted some pointy-eared asshole rushing toward the speeder.

Willa had gotten back up to run at him while Crix had gone for his stun blaster. Adrenaline surged in the face of apparent danger, and Firrerreon fight or flight instincts tended to lean toward the former. She was scraped up, blood dripping down her arm, but she was also tougher than she looked. She drew her stun blaster and charged forward at the apparent source of danger, fully intending to tackle him down and beat him across the face. She was far more likely to hit him with the blaster than actually fire it, especially with Willa so close. Enby's aim wasn't as good as Crix's and she was more of a wild shot.

"Back off!" she demanded as she ran, more or less repeating Crix's sentiment.

Emryc could feel a tingling sensation in the Force that screamed danger. However, he was so close to just speeding out of range and getting the hell out of dodge. A quick glance back told him the Zabrak was leveling a blaster. Emryc quickly veered to the right, expecting the shot.

To his surprise, the shot was completely off and towards where he turned. With a curse, he immediately crashed into a dumpster and went flying over the front of the bike. The bike was effectively rendered useless and Emryc landed on the other side on the ground.

He slowly got to his feet after a moment, groaning in pain. He was sluggish enough to where the others would catch up to him. Emryc looked up at them, wiping the blood that dribbled down to his chin.

“Shit,” He grumbled quietly, fixing his silver gaze on the Zabrak as his friends surrounded him, “Didn’t expect a Force user to have such shit aim.”

Surprise surprise, no one was happy with being blasted away by some elf-looking pretty boy. There was a joke in there that he probably would have told Enby but he was a little bit too distracted to banter right now. His shooting wasn’t great – firing from the draw was a skill he hadn’t had time to practice – but it seemed that worked in his favour.

Either that or he was the luckiest son of a gun this side of Corellia.

Still, he got a better grip on the pistol as he hurried closer to where the bike had crashed. The guy didn’t look very intimidating if he was honest – he looked like a waif if ever he had seen one. This was the kind of guy they showed in those crappy cartoons looking breathless as some other cartoon dude stood with his face like right next to his.

He’d seen the kind of pictures that Enby had on her datapad from those shows – yaoi she called it? Well that was it’s name. She’d gone off about it being “art” or some such nonsense… and his mind really did race when he was facing the unknown didn’t it? He narrowed his eyes when the elf-man just casually mentioned that he was Force Sensitive… which meant this guy was probably trained.

“Yeah well I ain’t had much chance to practice quickdraw, twinkle-toes.” He shot back before glancing to his friends even as he held the other teenager at blaster point, “Was gonna say something tonight but… yeah… I’m Force Sensitive and it’s kind of weird. Try not make a big deal of it, k?”

The way he managed to say that revelation was just like he had told them be was bi a couple years ago; very blunt to the point that there was nothing important about it and that it was as simple as the suns being kind of big.

He was still nervous about how they’d respond and this? This was definitely not the way he wanted to be outed. Very inconsiderate little elf-boy indeed.

“Now one question; what the fecking hells you doing?”

Totally nailed the intimidating first question of an interrogation.
