DESCRIPTION​

The E-5 blaster rifle is a military infantry weapon originally produced by Baktoid Armor Workshops. Originally intended to be used by the company's battle droids, the E-5 is a stripped-down design, incorporating only those elements which were considered necessary for the weapon to function, making it uncomfortable for organics to wield but vastly reducing its cost. E-5s were issued primarily to B1-series battle droids, with most B1s being sold as a set along with their armament.

The E-5 is a standard short blaster rifle, capable of a range of 100 meters and able to fire 100 shots from a standard power pack; they lack a stun setting, however. They do incorporate a simple targeting optic, although they lack even a collapsible stock, making any kind of precision fire difficult. Being intended for droids, E-5s lack many ergonomic refinements, and notably tend to heat up after sustained firing, making them even more uncomfortable to hold.

After the end of the Clone Wars, the vast armies of battle droids mostly disappeared from the Galaxy, although their armament did not. Countless E-5s flooded the open market after the CIS' capitulation, and the type has remained common in the hands of rebels, mercenaries and criminals across the Galaxy.

LEGALITY​

Legal. Ownership of blaster rifles is not restricted in most of the Galaxy, however openly carrying such a weapon in public might be on more "civilized" worlds. On less civilized worlds, it still might draw unwanted scrutiny.
