DESCRIPTION​

The DT-Series Sentry Droid was a military-grade security droid used by the Galactic Empire in the early days of the Galactic Civil War. The DT-Series, like other Imperial combat droids, was marketed as a 'security droid' to avoid post Clone War regulations and stigmas surrounding battle droids. Unlike the KX and Viper Probe droids, however, the DT-Series is far less subtle in its design and functions, and as such served primarily away from the public eye. The Empire was also eager to knowledge of the droid's specifications a secret, as the DT-Series was developed by Baktoid Combat Automata, the same company responsible for the infamous B-Series Separatist battle droids.

While DT-Series will follow orders from organics, these droids are designed to operate semi-autonomously, guarding key installations and locations without the assistance of organic personnel. The droids were designed to act as a mobile hardpoint in confined spaces, emphasizing armor and firepower over speed and agility with a wide frame and plodding feet. While these features were useless in open battle they turned the DT-Series into mobile walls capable of trapping and annihilating hostile forces. To help with this process the DT-Series are equipped with a modified, integrated E-11 blaster rifle in their right arms, which comes with an automatic reloading system. DT-Series droids were also created in small units of four or more due to a special feature integrated into their systems. If one DT droid came under attack or was unofficially deactivated, all other DT units in the local network would activate and converge on the units location. Intruders could quickly find themselves overwhelmed by walls of DT units closing in from multiple directions and firing with their built-in blaster rifles.

Few DT-Series units were developed for Imperial use, especially after the introduction of the more versatile KX series, and so even fewer units survive to this day, making them extremely rare and expensive to acquire. Still, the superior armor and built in firepower of the DT-Series have made the droid popular among mercenaries and criminal syndicates looking for loyal, unquestioning security forces.

LEGALITY​

Illegal. The DT-series are special security droids with integrated weapons systems, and as such are restricted under most interstellar law, with personal ownership being banned.

To create a canon droid platform for NPCs or PCs.

RESTRICTIONS​

A DT-series security droid is an exceptionally rare and expensive piece of equipment, with individual ownership being difficult in the present day, although not impossible. Characters based on the DT may be created, but will be subject to increased scrutiny by members of staff.
