OOC:
Location: Ansion
Timing: After Sith Invasion & Glee Anselm Deceleration but before New Alderaan

The politics of the galaxy were rapidly shifting. Alex had played her hand on Glee Anselm. She could not…no nowould not support a people salivating for racial cleansing. The Anselmi deserved a home free from persecution. Glee Anselm may not have joined the Resistance today, but the seeds were planted. The Empire was seen for what it truly was…power hungry and willing to do anything to get it. She now had a chance to capitalize on a rare victory. The Sith came for blood and conquest on Ansion. They left with neither. In their wake, families had been broken and tattered. It was the Jedi who threw back the invaders. She made a mental note that Tiberius had shown himself extremely capable on more than one occasion.

The Grandmasters shuttle landed on a pad attached to the large government center. The same center the Jedi had poured forth from when the Sith landed. Ansion had done nothing to provoke the Empire. They had remained neutral for much of the war. Their only crime seemed to be existing. Now was her time to bring them into the fold. The Jedi had fought with them, the Sith had burned their cities, the people of Ansion were primed for a change.

She just had to convince them now was the right time. The Resistance was growing. A beautiful structure molded on top of the Rebellion but there was still much work to be done. They could afford no mistakes and they had to capitalize on every opportunity. Alex stepped into the government center. The small Council that governed Ansion was waiting for her. Alex took a deep breath. She promised war. She promised to fight on the front lines. It was time to follow those promises.

After repelling the sith invasion of Ansion, Tiberius had stayed to help the denizens of the planet rebuild. Although the battle was short lived there was work that needed to be done. Whether that was repairs to buildings or healing the injured, Tiberius had been there to help them and to foster the budding alliance.

It was Caris that had alerted the Council of the Jedi victory here, and it was not long after the relaying of the news that the Grandmaster of the Jedi order had come to Ansion. No doubt she was here to formalize the alliance between the Jedi and the Citizens of Ansion. Tiberius was been in the capital building and watched as the shuttle descended onto the landing pad.

The knight walked out to greet the Grandmaster. He had never actually met Alex Voran, but every Jedi knew who she was from the youngest youngling all the way up to… well the Grandmaster and it was likely that she knew who Tiberius was as well. She was the leader of the order after all and she had her ways of knowing who everyone was, at least that’s what Tiberius believed.

“Master Voran.” Tiberius began with a bow before taking up a position on her left as they walked towards the government building. “The council has been awaiting your arrival.” The doors to the building made a “whooshing” noise as they opened to allow the jedi access. A short walk through the building took the Jedi to the doors of the council Chambers. The doors opened and the Jedi were allowed into a small room where the council sat in a circle. A chair had been left vacant for Alex

Her eyes flicked to Tiberius as he greeted her. Alex smiled. He had stayed behind after driving the Sith back. “Tiberius.” Her voice was light as they walked into the building. “Tell me about the attack.” The Jedi’s footfalls rang in the building while they stepped towards the Council Chamber. “I’ve read the reports, I’ve seen the holo coverage…but I need to hear it from you.” Alex’s mouth pulled into a frown. “I know it was Draugr again…” They had taken him once. Locked him away on Dantooine. Another killer set free on their watch. Another monster free to roam and grow into his dark soul. She shook her head. She was finished with that.

They pushed into the Council Chamber. Four of the Ansion councilors stared back at them. Haggard and tired eyes locked onto the Jedi. Her own gaze floating to the empty chair meant for her. Alex stayed standing. “Thank you for seeing us, despite everything your people have endured.” She gestured towards Tiberius.

“Knight Fenric is one of the Jedi who drove back the invaders. He faced this particular brand of Sith brutality before.” Now she gestured towards the chair. “I know you expected to hear from me…but what can I say that you haven’t heard before.” Alex nodded slowly. “Tiberius, sit, and tell the council why they should place their faith in us.” She moved towards the side of the room to allow the young Jedi Knight to take a seat. She was believer in the power of action. Tiberius had shown that ability.

It had not been long after the battle on Ansion. Edaara was not badly injured, but she had been quiet ever since her short and almost ineffective fight against the masked Sith. She followed Tiberius and the Grandmaster behind a few paces, staying silent as the two talked in hushed voices. She wanted to do as much as she could for the Jedi, and secure the Ansion people's faith and alliance with the Jedi. It looked hopeful; Ansion had every reason to hate the Sith.

As Tiberius sat down, Edaara stayed standing silently a little to the Grandmaster's left. She was not one to claim her part in the victory. In all honesty, she felt as if she hadn't done well enough. Caris had taken out two Sith rather quickly, and even with both Tiberius and Edaara, they had barely managed to hurt the last stubborn Sith. She waited for Tiberius to speak, both listening to what he had to say and reflecting on today's events.

As the Jedi made their way to the Ansion’s council chambers Tiberius gave Alex a recounting of the events of the invasion as she requested. It was clear that she already knew who had led the invasion, and the knight nodded to confirm her suspicion. It had been Draugr, who else would it be, though? The zabrak had been a thorn in the jedi’s side, leading many invasions again them and their allies. As the group neared the doors of the council chamber Tiberius wrapped up his tale “…After Draugr fell the rest of the sith forces began to retreat.”

The doors to the council chamber opened and the trio of jedi entered. Tiberius stood to the right slightly behind the Grandmaster. He remained silent as Alex made her introduction. He assumed that this meeting between the Jedi and the Ansion council was more of a formality more than anything. Maybe a photo-op for Jedi PR. He wasn’t anticipating the need for himself to give a speech. When the Grandmaster ask him to address to council his eyes widened and darted towards Alex. There was a split second where a chill ran through the knight’s body as he tried to think of what he would say. He then nodded, acknowledging Master Voran’s request.

Tiberius stepped forward and took the seat that had been meant for the leader of the order. “Council, as many of you know we have been here since before the invasion aiding your people.” He gestured with his left hand indicating Edaara who was standing behind himself and the Grandmaster. “When the sith attacked we did not hesitate to join with the Ansionian people, fighting on the front lines to drive off the attackers and preventing the spread of the sith empire’s tyranny.” Tiberius paused for a moment as he gaze travelled over the faces of the council members to get a feel for their reactions. Much of the battle had taken place near the building that they all currently occupied, and it was likely that many of them had watched the fighting with their own eyes. “After successfully repelling the sith forces,” Tiberius continued, “the jedi remained to help you rebuild what the sith had destroyed.”

Recent memories of helping the people of Ansion recover after the sith invasion came to Tiberius mind as he moved on with his thoughts. “You have been a neutral party thus far in the affairs of the galaxy. The sith had no reason to attack your planet other than to expand the boarders of their empire. Who’s to say they won’t try again?” The knight paused briefly again to give the council members a moment to contemplate the possibility of another invasion. Tiberius began again. “As your ally, the Jedi Order will continue to show you the loyalty that we have already demonstrated.”

Tiberius concluded and looked around for a response from the council.

Alex listened carefully to Tiberius. His words cut through the silence in the room. She raised a questioning eyebrow towards Edaara. She was impressed. The Morellian Jedi made a quiet note to keep a closer eye on the young Jedi Knight. An elderly human male leaned forward. Councilor Vabras…the elder statesmen. Her reports indicated the man was a pain in the ass. “An impassioned plea, Jedi Fenric…but why would we tie ourselves to the Order if you’ll come anyways?” A sly smile crossed the Councilor’s face. “Seems a foolish risk to take.” Alex fought the frown off. She remained off to the side as she spoke.

“We will always come, Councilor. It simply may not be in time.” A sliver of shock ran through the Council. “We were lucky. You were lucky. Our numbers are finite. We cannot be everywhere all at once. We were here this time but the same my not be true again.” Vabras scoffed and leaned back. “A threat Grandmaster?” Alex smiled and spread her hands apart. “Just the truth. Luck is rarely on our side.” A cackle escaped the venerable councilman.

“Oh, enough games then. We’ve already agreed on formally joining your Resistance but on one condition. A cell of Draugr’s forces remained encamped on the outskirts of the Capital. Our local forces have been dedicated to repairs following the attack. Rid us of these last vestiges of the Empire and Ansion will fight with you.” Crafty old man. She had expected as much. The Empire had not bothered to resist their efforts to sway Ansion which meant another kind of diplomacy was needed. The type with lightsabers. “It shall be done.” Alex bowed deeply and headed towards the lift. She assumed Tiberius and Edaara would follow. The job just got easier.

Edaara stayed silent for the brief meeting. The Mirialan knew she stood out in a room of mostly humans, but she did not let it bother her. What did bother, however, was the councilor's words. He was trying to manipulate them, but then again, that was a politician's job wasn't it? Even the best couldn't deny it.

She noticed the Grandmaster's gaze and gave her a tentative smile. She wondered what the woman was thinking. When the councilor said they would ally if the Jedi eliminated the remaining Sith. Edaara nodded. If that's what it would take. it shouldn't be too difficult; they had the Grandmaster working with them.

She followed Tiberius and Alex out towards the lift.

There was a moment’s silence after Tiberius finished his remarks, but the quiet was soon interrupted by the voice of Councilor Vabras. He was one of the oldest members on the council, or at least he appeared to be. He was balding on the top of his head, but the hair that did remain on his head was white, like fresh snow. His long beard was equally as white and it began to wag as he addressed the jedi.

The elder statesman finished speaking. Tiberius was about to replay when the voice of Alex rang out from behind the knight. She had literally taken the words out of Tiberius’ mouth. He remained seated and listened to the Grandmaster’s answer to the councilor. Once again Vabras answered the Jedi this time laying out the conditions for Ansion to officially join the Jedi and the Resistance.

At the Grandmaster’s closing remark Tiberius stood and, like Master Voran, bowed to the council before heading to the lift. Once the last jedi boarded the lift the doors closed behind them. “Well, that went well.” Tiberius said to no one in particular. The look on his face indicated that he was rather proud of himself. Glancing at his two companions he continued to speak. “Driving off some straggling sith forces, easy as a blue milk run.”

“Careful, Tiberius, the Force has a terrible sense of humor.” Alex smiled widely. “Success is almost always met with failure.” Her smile grew even wider. “Now that sounded properly wise.” A small laugh escaped the Grandmaster. It felt good to be away from the Temple…even better to do something besides just talking in circle. Her reputation had changed over the years. Grandmaster Voran has the prevailing piece of her soul. Long forgotten was the sarcastic Jedi Knight who just as easily made fun of herself as others. Too few Jedi knew her. They all saw the Grandmaster and nothing more.

She led them into the lift. Pressing the ground floor button. “Although, this should be easy enough. Draugr is off world, and I don’t sense Raze.” With Andruil fading from public life, she had only to concern herself with the Dark Lord. There would be few others capable of standing her equal. “But we should be cautious. We can’t know what they left behind.” She smiled again. “You two will protect me.” Alex winked at Edaara. “You can laugh at my jokes, Edaara. I won’t burst into flames.” They were funny, right? She hadn’t lost her edge. One last bright smile flicked as the lift doors opened.

The Force screamed in her mind.

Too late.

Alex was a torrent in the Force. The Light burse from her in a rapidly expanding barrier. In an instant, her full power racing forward. It would not be enough. She could see that. She gritted her teeth and shoved the barrier towards Tiberius and Edaara. The heat and pain hit her nearly head on. Alex was slammed into the back of the lift…her armor tattered shreds…her vision swimming…and blood pooling around her. Smoke began to pillow into the lift. “I told you.” Don’t pass out Alex.

Edaara smiled a little as the tension eased significantly on their walk to the lift. It seemed this whole ordeal would soon be over. A few straggling Sith would not pose much of a threat to two well trained Jedi and the Grandmaster.

Edaara opened her mouth to reply to Alex when they got in the lift but she never got a chance. A hidden attack suddenly sent the Grandmaster flying into the back of the lift. Edaara's smile fell and she had her saber out and ignited in a split second. The lift shuddered to a halt. Edaara could see no threat but that didn't mean it wasn't there. She turned to Tiberius. "Watch my back, I'm going to try and help her," she said, gesturing to the Grandmaster. A puddle of blood was gathering around her limp body.

Edaara knelt beside Alex, turning off her saber and hooking it back to her belt. She looked for the source of the wound.

Things seemed to be going well. Their task had been laid out before them and the trio seemed to be sharing a bonding moment as the lift began to descend. Tiberius’ interactions with the grandmaster had been few and never as intimate as this current interaction. The grandmaster had always seemed like a distant figure head who was busy leading the order, but Tiberius was learning that she was approachable and friendly, even if she did rain on his parade with her “words of wisdom.”

The lift lurched as it came to a stop at the ground floor. Tiberius looked straights ahead anticipating the doors of the lift opening. As the doors in front of him opened Tiberius caught something out of the corner of his eye. There was something going on with the grandmaster, but before he could turn to look he was being pushed up against the lift walls by a barrier.

Almost as soon as it had started it had ended. As the barrier that held the knight against the wall dissipated Tiberius fell to the floor. He looked over Alex and found that she too was on the floor, but in much worse condition. This must have been that terrible sense of humor master Voran had warned them about only seconds before.

Tiberius pushed himself up off the ground and the voice of Edaara met his ears. She was going to try and help the grandmaster. Tiberius had no idea what Edaara’s healing abilities were like, but she had to have at least a rudimentary knowledge of what to do. The knight nodded in response and stepped into the doorway of the lift. He held out his hands and created his own barrier to protect the group from any follow up attacks, or at least he hoped it would.

As he stood in the doorway he scanned the ground floor. There didn’t seem to be anyone down here. “What was that?” he asked out loud keeping his eyes forward.

Breath deeply Alex. Shuttering breaths heaved in and out. You’ve been here before. You have to look. She scrunched her eyes closed and then open. Her gaze drifted to her left side. Oh shit. A shard of durasteel was jammed into her right side. She could feel it had slid right between her ribs, dangerously close to her lungs. Her mind sprung into action. The Force locking away the pain. Her fingers pressed into her side to stop the bleeding. Smoke was pouring into the top of the lift, the doors a tattered mess. She could hear the distant sound of blaster fire. A wave of nausea coming over her, not from the wound, but from the sudden darkness. “The Sith did not wait for us.” Another ragged breath. Speak clearly.

“Tiberius, find them and sounds the alarm.” She was getting lightheaded. “We can’t allow them to find the Council.” Her eyes tried to focus on Edaara. The Force warning her of impending disaster. “The durasteel is lodged between my 4th and 5th ribs. We can’t move it without puncturing my lung.” Yes, there was a lot of blood. “I’m bleeding…a lot.” Alex locked eyes with Edaara. “I can’t heal this myself with it stuck in place.” The torrent of Light slowing through her was the only piece keeping Alex from descending into unconsciousness. “You are going to need to pull it out.”

She smiled weakly. “When you do, I am going to pass out. You need to repair the internal damage first and work your way outward. I find it helps to physically touch the person.” She reached out for Edaara’s hand to place it near the durasteel chunk. “You’ll both be fine. Don’t let me die, it’s not time yet.” Alex nodded at Edaara. She was ready.

Edaara took a deep breath and focused, letting Alex place her hand near the chunk of metal in her gut. Her fingers were immediately sticky with blood. As crazy as it sounded, Edaara had actually done this before; while still a padawan her master had had a piece of debri in his gut.

“Breathe out and hold it when I count to three,” she said, her voice calm despite the blood and the situation. She counted to three and then placed both hands on the metal and pulled it out quickly. Blood pumped from the wound in her side freely. She was losing too much blood. Edaara tossed the shard away, keeping her eyes on Alex. A briefly realized how ironic it was that she was saving the Grandmaster but did not let any thoughts linger. She needed total focus.

She pressed her hands gently against the gaping wound, summoning the Force from around her, from deep in her core. Warmth surged around her hands. She healed the interior damage first, and then the exterior wound. She skin knit together finally and Edaara sat back on her heels, her breath coming short. She had not used the Force that much in a long time.

She turned back to Tiberius. “See anything yet?” she asked, her voice still weak.

The grandmaster was right, the sith had not waited for them as Tiberius had hoped. Instead, the sith were bringing the fight to them. The sound of blaster fire was distant, but it was clear that it was getting closer. “Nothing yet.” He answered Edaara as he scanned the ground floor once again.

Alex gave the order for Tiberius to seek out the sith. He turned back to look at the grandmaster and his fellow knight. He was torn. Before him lay the Master of his order who was clearly in need of medical attention, and then there was the sith who were drawing ever nearer and could potentially destroy any plans the Jedi had of forming an alliance with this planet. Tiberius looked at Edaara. She was a capable Jedi, and he would not be leaving the grandmaster to fend for herself. He looked at the grandmaster who had grown pale from a loss of blood. He nodded in acknowledgement of her orders.

Tiberius turned and disappeared from the view of the other two Jedi. He made his way to the nearest exit. He ran into a quartet of security officers who had a look of panic on their faces at the sound of blaster fire. They turned to see Tiberius as he neared them. He stopped and looked at them. “You,” He pointed of one of the officers. “Go get back up and meet us on the front lines. You,” he pointed at the officer who was standing beside the first one. “Gather some forces and go protect the council.” As the first two officers turned to carry out their respective orders Tiberius faced the remaining officers. “You two come with me.”

The knight charged ahead and exited the building followed by the two security officers. They followed the sound of battle. Soon the trio had arrived on the front lines. The sith forces had engaged with the civilian population and the few security forces that had been patrolling the area at the time of the attack.

Tiberius paused to assess the situation. There did not seem to be a force wielding agent of the sith among the forces. “Let’s go.” He spoke to the two officers that had followed him. The knight charged into battle, entering the fray with a powerful force push that toppled over several of the sith forces.

Life flowed from Alex. Her blood pumping from the wound when the shard was removed. Her vision swam, her head seemingly floating above her body. She tried to maintain her grip on the Force, but her body was weakening. Slowly, she felt the flesh begin to knit together. The blood stopped and her vision slowly returned. The lift was covered in the bright red blood of the Grandmaster. She tried to push herself up with no success. Dizziness struck suddenly. The Force could heal the wound, Alex could pull strength from the Light…but she could not replace the blood she lost. Her body was weak. Deep breaths. She sunk further into the Force. It was all she could do to stay awake. She could feel how much energy Edaara had expended. She would need to push further.

“Edaara.” Alex’s voice was soft. “You need to find Tiberius.” The Force boiled in waves. Conflict. There was fighting in the tower, more than she had anticipated. Another deep breath. We need to find Tiberius.” She was not going to sit and sulk. “Help me up.” Alex smiled weakly. “That’s an order.” She stuck out her left hand for Edaara to yank her standing. Her right hand pulled out her saber blade. She was the Grandmaster for Force’s sake. They would not find her such easy prey.

Edaara took a breath in and released it before getting to her feet. They would make it out of here. They had to. She supposed this was how they would prove themselves even further to the council, solidifying their victory.

She extended a hand to the Grandmaster. She had been about to protest leaving her there, but Alex changed her mind, for which Edaara was grateful for. “I’ll cover you,” she said as they made their way out of the lift and into the darkened hallway which Tiberius had disappeared down. She keep her saber out but off; the blue light might give them away.

The remnant of sith forces was larger than Tiberius had expected. When the council had asked the jedi to deal with what remained of the sith forces Tiberius envisioned it being an easy task. However, It was currently proving to be the opposite. The words of the Grandmaster echoed in his head “The force has a terrible sense of humor.”

The battle raged on, but the arrival of the jedi on the battle field seemed to rally the denizens of Ansion and they were able to push back the sith forces for a time. Now, however, there seemed to be a stalemate. Neither sith was making progress either way.

Tiberius batted away a blaster bolt that was directed at him. “Stand your ground!” Tiberius shouted to be heard over the din of battle. “We cannot let them reach the capital building!” He batted away another blaster bolt and watched as it flew back to where it had originated, striking the attacker in the chest.

It was true, if the sith were allowed to enter the capitol building all the work of the jedi would potentially be undone. Perhaps the security officer he had sent to protect the council was smart enough to evacuate them, but there was no telling right now.

The knight sent out a force push knocking back a cluster of sith forces that had tried to charge through the battle lines. Tiberius thrust his hand to the ground and sent a barrage of freshly laid pavers at the enemy. He saw several of them make contact with the troops opposite himself. He wondered how Edaara and Alex were doing. Was Edaara able to heal the grandmaster? Would Tiberius and Edaara be known as the Jedi who let the grandmaster die?

Her body protested. Alex scowled. It was easy to forget just how easy the mortal body could fail. She had not needed such a harsh reminder. The Force could have shown her with a gentler example. Instead, she felt like every step was an exercise in agony. Even the powerful white light of the Force could not entirely keep the pain at bay. Conflict buzzed in her mind. She could feel Tiberius up ahead. A warning tingled in the back of her mind. Alex’s saber blade sprung to life. A soft white glow suddenly springing up around them. Several blaster bolts came flying out of the darkness. She batted them away lazily. Each motion an extended effort. Several groans sounded from down the hallway as the blaster fire stopped. Alex breathed a sigh of relief.

“There should be another lift.” She reached out in the Force…searching for anything. “An emergency passage to get to the Council. We have to find it.” She took another step and groaned. “Quickly would be best.” Alex smiled weakly. She felt some blood trickle from one of the wounds. Edaara’s healing had been incredible but not perfect. Alex’s wounds were simply too extensive. She would stay standing but eventually time would run out. The Force continued the power Alex forward.

The hall branched left and right at a small cross section. Of course. “Look left, I’ll look right. We both return as quickly as possible.” Alex turned to walk down the right side. The Force roared in her chest. Her determination unwavering. Her face a painful grimace. She would see this through.

Edaara stayed quiet as she walked beside the limping Grandmaster. She knew better than to let Alex lean on her. She still kept a watchful eye, her saber unignited in her right hand. She was glad for it when blaster bolts suddenly fired out of the darkness. Alex managed to get all of them, but Edaara kept her saber lit, the blue glow illuminating the way.

Edaara nodded at Alex's words. When she suggested that they split up, however, Edaara hesitated for a split second. She had done her best to heal the wounded Jedi but Alex had still lost a lot of blood, and it was showing. Before Edaara had a chance to argue, Alex had turned down the right hall. So Edaara went left.

It was quiet, the only sound her breathing. She tried to slow her breaths, making them as quiet as possible. She turned off her saber but kept her senses open. She heard the slightest whistling sound, as if someone was taking a slow breath in. She kept walking, her finger on the trigger of her light saber. Like she suspected, as soon as she took a step forward, shots were fired at her from a particularly close range. In a quick move, she ignited her saber and brought it up to guard the exposed side of her body. From the light of her saber she could see a masked figure. One of the bolts ricocheted off her saber and hit him square in the chest. He didn't have time to scream.

Alex grimaced as she walked. Her pain less from her wound and more from stupidity. How had she allowed the situation to devolve so completely? How could she not have seen this coming? The answer was simple. The threads of the future were lost to her. Like so many Jedi before her, the uncertainty of war and Darkness clouded the paths. She was forced to grope along and hope her feet found the right path. This particular path eventually took her to one of the auxiliary lifts. She released a sigh of relief. Alex put a hand on the wall to call the lift. Her mind flashing out towards Edaara. “Found the lift, come on.” She extended her senses and sunk to the floor. She was exhausted.

A flare of warning shot through her mind.

A familiar Darkness filled with fear…and pain. The spike in emotion was undeniable. The Council chamber. Alex stood on weak legs, pushing herself from the floor. Her mind flashed to Edaara again. “The Council is in danger, meet me there, hurry.” She took a deep calming breath and sunk deeper into the Force. Alex walked into the lift and hammered the button. It whisked her away to the Council chamber with ease. The lift dinged and the doors slid open. She stepped into a room strewn with the bodies of dead soldiers. The Council members stood huddled in a corner. Their fear palpable. Across from the lift stood a hulking Zabrak with a wicked saber in his hand. Alex stepped from the light, summoning a strength she did not have.

“It’s over. The lower levels are being cleared. You’ve lost.” Her voice was unwavering. The Sith just smiled. “You’re weak, Grandmaster, even I an sense that.” The smile grew larger. “Perhaps we have lost Ansion but a chance to kill you. Incredible.” Alex sighed as the man charged.
