  • Name: Deucalia
  • Coordinates: T 17
  • Hyperlane: N/A
  • Climate: Deucalia is a frigid husk of a world. As it has drifted from its star it has become colder and colder part of the planet have next to no precipitation as nothing unfreezes, the same snow merely billows about for eons. Temperatures of 0 degrees C are the norm and it can get considerably lower during the long night. All the seas are nearly permanently frozen only the very bottom of the water is in any kind of liquid state and it seldom stays that way for long. Blizzards and hail are common as are lightning storms in the far north.
  • Terrain: Vast glaciers cover the planet moving like monoliths with singular purpose. Cracks form in the unending white, but not signs of life save for the large towers inscribed with the works of man long past. Trees are gone, animals all dead, there is only the blistering cold and the howling wind and miles of snow covering rigid mountains or lying flat upon vast oceanic planes.
  • Rotation: As it drifts further from it's mother star, Deucalia suffers progressively longer days and nights. A full cycle of Deucalia takes approximately 23 Earth days and will continue to grow as time progresses.
  • Inhabitants: Only the basest and hardiest single celled organisms continue a small ecosystem in the deep unfrozen oceans far below what anyone could normally access. All else is frozen and long dead.
  • Resources: The planet is rich in metals deep below the thick sheets of ice and also holds considerable amounts of artifacts from The Deucalians of old. While the trinkets themselves may not have much intrinsic value, a savvy explorer and entrepreneur could make a killing selling to the right clan, provided they don't kill them and take it.
  • Government: N/A
  • Culture: N/A
  • Technology: Large towers inscribed in glowing blue runes as well as deep caves carved within the planets core exist. Within these places there exists a power that continues to burn to this day. Using the weakening geothermal power and the fading power of the star these ancient enclaves produce a cryptic signal in old Deucalian. Even those who knew the language would hear it and not know it's meaning. Within those enclaves exists ancient Deucalian weaponry, plans for crafts of war and civilian usage, all things that were to set the stage for glory tragically cut short. No one knows why.
  • Satellites: No
  • History: Before Deucalia began to drift from its star a people prospered upon the world. It was warm and green then, lush with life both hostile and generous in the energy of the ever giving sun. This people built mighty towers, huge cities, their navies roared across the vast oceans and their people looked to the stars with lust for conquest. Then a crop failed, and another, and another, from famine came war and from war came the breaking of the people.

Days grew longer yet darker, nights grew blacker and bleaker, winters became horrors as many starved. Great beasts were hunted to extinction, but the meat from their bodies and the furs from their hides did not stutter the slow creep of the planet towards its doom. The people upon it would not accept this doom however, taking up the gifts their ancestors had given them, they embarked into the black heading in all directions.

Leaving the dying world behind they turned to see a world of blue growing bleaker and smaller and sadder. Like a mother grown old, that which gave them life and love had to be abandoned. But still it drifts, heading into the nothingness, colder and colder with each long night.

  • Intent: The homeworld of The Deucalians this will form the base of a plot I wish to propose of several PC characters and Deucalian explorers returning to investigate the signals of this hostile world. Once it is rediscovered the world can be a reoccurring place of pilgrimage for Deucalians and a place of exploration for all others. One cannot go forward without knowing where they've been and this was where the Deucalians had been, what came before them was the mystery I sought to reveal with others if it is approved. For your consideration.

When you say it needs to be rediscovered, do you currently have a plot for that?

I was actually going to propose one after it was approved but can do so before that happened just wanted to make sure it wasn't going to be a waste of time
