DESCRIPTION
The DC-15A blaster rifle is a "battle rifle" produced by BlasTech Industries, one of the Galaxy's premier small arms manufacturers. Originally designed for the Grand Army of the Republic as the standard sidearm for its Clone Troopers, the DC-15A belongs to the old school of infantry weapon design, with an emphasis on long-range capability and power rather than convenient handling. It was in the process of being phased out even before the end of the Clone Wars, however the shear number of examples produced ensures that it sees use even into the present day.

The DC-15A would be considered a "longblaster" by modern definitions, being 1.3 meters long and having an effective range of 350 meters. The weapon weighs 4.4 kilograms, and is primarily meant to be fired from the shoulder, or while prone. The weapon does have some disadvantages over its short-range counterparts; it is long and awkward to use at close range, and is limited to a rather sedate rate of fire, with a longer than usual recharge cycle between shots. The DC-15A will go through a standard power pack after 30 shots. Its bolts are a distinctive blue color.

Notably, the stock DC-15A does not include any kind of magnifying scope, although this can be added if desired. Originally, the weapon was designed to interface with a Clone Trooper's helmet optics to provide the necessary magnification and targeting data for long-range sniping, although a set of iron sights was also included.

In the present day, DC-15As are still found in many parts of the Galaxy. They still see military use, especially on backwater worlds, but are primarily used by law enforcement, civilians, mercenaries and criminals. Despite their age, they are still considered a fine weapon, if a bit large and awkward for some situations.

LEGALITY
Legal. Due to its age and lack of a stock optic, the DC-15A is not restricted in the same way modern sharpshooter weapons often are. The addition of a scope, however, may bring unwanted attention by authorities.

INTENT
To bring a weapon from Star Wars Canon into our site's fanon.
