Crime-Watch-3.png

The news tune plays and a camera moves away from the Crime Wach News logo to pan in to the Zeltron and Rodian anchors. The head-anchor Rynn Run and his beautiful co-ancher Vana Walk... No wait, is that Preef Callo!? Again!? Where's Vana Walk? Did she really get infected by the AMS virus? Is she dead?

Rynn, a true professional, scrapes his throat and shuffles the two datapads on his fancy desk. "Welcome to Crime Watch News, I'm Rynn Run," his voice sounds betrays he has gotten used to the presence of his new co-anchor, somewhat, but he did slowly shake his head before looking to his right, where the legendary gunslinger Preef Callo sits, smiling to the camera. "Joined again today by none other than the Legendary Gunslinger-" he paused, clearly still not quite comfortable with praising the shooting skills of a murderer, "-Preef Callo."

"Thanks, Rynn." Preef said in a much more professional way than the first time. He had clearly practiced this time. "Our top story tonight will come to no surprise for anyone living in that part of the galaxy that was formerly known as Hutt Space." It was still called Hutt space, but Preef didn't need an excuse to say it was at least contested now and the other syndicates didn't quite seem up to challenging him in this regard, eager as they were to take some of the Hutt rackets for their own in the aftermath of the Hutt's inevitable demise. "For months now they have tried to retake Nar Shaddaa, unsuccesfully, obviously, while we try to curb the spread of the AMS virus. Selfish actions from selfish beings, so-" Rynn involuntarily gulped, fearing what was about to come next, "-you see a ship flying with Hutt transponder codes? Take it. You see a Hutt? Kill it. Hutticide is no longer a punishible offense in Syndicate space."

Rynn reclaimed the camera with a shuffle of his datapad and the screen behind him showed a picture of an angry Hutt shooting some of his rodian slaves. "In the same news-" he feared he was never going to have other news to share while he was "detained" on Nar Shaddaa and dancing to Preef Callo's every whim. "-the Hutts on Rorak IV have begun mass bombardments on communities that were largely unaffected by the virus. Their reasoning being that they couldn't let the locals and their infections jeopardize the massive slave markets." The cartel's slaving operation had become their main source of income simply because Preef was against it. With the Crymorah backing out of the slave trade it left a vacuum that was allowed to operate much more independently than the spice, racketeering or smuggling rackets that the Crymorah did try to take over.

At this news Preef visibly shook his head and the camera man assumed -correctly- that the gunslinger wanted to voice his disgust. "It's terrible what's happening, Rynn. As a child I was enslaved to the Hutt Cartel myself, you know-" he knew, for their was a HoloNet movie specifically detailing how he -add creative liberty here- rescued himself from a slaving existence by taking on a feared and infamous enforce and defeating him in a High Noon duel.. at the age of twelve. "-and everyone knows I forbid it. I don't want to see it on the new Nar Shaddaa. But I can't go out and take the Hutts off the map without an AMS vaccine. We invested a lot in its development. We invested a lot in Morata Corporation. Their CEO gave me assurance personally. Still no vaccine shipments coming our way."

Rynn, ever the eager journalist, couldn't help but bite. "Are you saying the New Republic, the FWA and even the Independent Systems Consortium are stopping the vaccines from coming to the planets outside their direct control?" Preef merely shrugged knowingly, "Maybe it's a sick scheme to extend their influence and power over the truly independent planets."

Rynn Run's eyes widened. That would be a terrible and above all heartless scheme by those Republic politicians.

"And on that bombshell, For Crime Watch News, this was Preef Callo and Rynn Run. Good night, and good news."
