The sun was setting in its crimson radiance. Below was the former industrial center of Coruscant known simply as the Works. For generations it lingers as a ruined husk, large sections claimed by toxic waste and the rest mostly abandoned. Despite that fact a sizable crowd gathered in front of a former droid plant in addition to the group of landspeeders lined up together.

A few were leaning or sitting on a few scattered crates while some stood around, talking with one another and searching through the Holonet on their handheld devices. Others were with their vehicles, among them a blue skinned Mon Calamari who was sweating from heat made some final adjustments to her white speeder’s controls. Compared to many of the crowd and racers who wore flashy outfits, Chant Sindhu’s attire was a brown sweater and dark pants. The speeder’s charts displayed the results of her work, causing the aquatic alien to nod her head.

Just got this old Corellian model, despite its age it runs good. Glad I wasn’t ripped off.

Her sastificition was interrupted when a green Twi’lek male in with two human women in each arm walked by. She noted his eyes examining her vehicle before chuckling out loud along with his two companions. Irritated Chant looked away from the group who headed to a more stylish speeder of orange color surrounded by several other Twi’leks.

Briefly, the Mon Calamari squeezed the wheel with both hands in silent anger. Closing her eyes and taking a deep breath she released it. Quietly she whispered. “Okay calm down me. Forget about that pretty boy bastard and focus on the race coming up.”

Chant had only just arrived on Coruscant a night ago before learning of an illegal race being hosted in the Works. She had heard there credits to be earned in this ’unofficial event’ and so got herself involved. The local racers will have an advantage in knowing the layout of the course. She wasn’t one to back down from a challenge though and the pay was good. A grin filled with determination surfaced on her face.

Let’s see if these locals got what’s takes.

There was nothing like returning home, the emotions, the old streets, the old faces, and the painful memories. Kenii and Myr by all means were accomplishing their goals, they had found stable work, and both had won races that secured them as legit drivers in this galaxy. The only problem was, there was another Starblazer on the way, just like his father had predicted.

Coming home to tell them went about as well as expected, his mother was happy while his father called him a bucket of bolts. He didn't need his father's approval in the end, it was too late to go back now, and he would finally see what it felt like to be his father. I won't be like him.. He told himself as he drove along the old haunts, taking in the sights with a sigh. His brand new landspeeder, a rebuilt S4000 zoomed across the streets, windows rolled up, and the upbeat music always playing on a low setting.

Even if his life was on the ropes, this was his kingdom, in this seat with two hands on the wheel, and where he went was the king's decree. He'd pop onto the lower highway systems and across the highways that lead towards a large spiral like structure. The Jungund Togue Races as they called them, though the title was a bit misleading.

It was no mountain pass, but instead an old abandoned skyscraper complex that had been repurposed in secret to allow for racing from the top of the tower to the base or from the base to the top. It was a simple race, one man in the start, the other in the back. If you managed to hold your position you'd win, other wise you lost. It was a technical race with sharp turns and narrow passes, which required the sharpest mind and skills to complete. But, Kenii loved these types of races and zoomed towards it. Let's see what's lurking at the base.

Chant sat in her seat, waiting. She knew the race won’t start until all the racers get here. The issue she didn’t how many were involved already there were more than a dozen judging by all the speeders surrounding her. Some of the participants were not even in their vehicles yet. From her angle on the left the Mon Calamari glances over the crowd.

Some were making bets with one another already as she watched them. A few more like the Twi’lek were showing off to their flunkies. Others were hanging with friends or lovers. They all seemed so confident and carefree. Growing uncomfortable at the sight of the latter, Chant turned away.

Closing her eyes she whispered to herself. “That used to be me.” The confession was more painful to admit than just thinking about it. Unlike many here Chant did not have any friends present at this event and she wasn’t interested in making new ones right now. in her opinion only the thrill of the race provided solace for the time being.

Suddenly the former fighter pilot heard the whine of an incoming landspeeder. She barely twisted her head to the right when she saw the new arrival swifty coming into the rendezvous point. Curious, with one hand Chant rubbed her jaw, wondered.

Who’s this hotshot?
