Corporate Sector Authority

The Corporate Sector Authority (CSA) or simply referred to as the Corporate Sector or CorpSec, is a political entity of corporations that calls their region of space in the Outer Rim the Corporate Sector as their home. The Corporate Sector is well known for the mega-corporations in it's space holding most of the power with it being a 'corporatocracy'.

History

The Corporate Sector Authority was first founded in 490 BBY after a dispute between an group of large corporations and the Galactic Republic. To that end the corporations involved purchased the area that would become the Corporate Sector in the front end of the Tingel Arm which was surveyed and it was found there was no sentient life in the region at the time. The Corporations then created the Corporate Sector Authority and allowed the corporations to operate freely there. The Corporate Sector Authority launched an advertising campaigned that lured many immigrants to the Corporate Sector, promising a new frontier, a better life, and riches that await. To this day the Corporate Sector is diverse and has many variety of species in it's space as a result.

In major galactic conflicts, the Corporate Sector kept an official policy of neutrally, although it would typically provide indirect support either both sides or clearly the strongest side. The Corporate Sector did develop technologies for Emperor Palpatine's Galactic Empire to earn his favor and sold weapons and provided monetary support to both sides of the First Order-Resistance for profits and to hedge their bets.

Structure

The government of the Corporate Sector is composed of an array of corporations that operates as fiefdoms, where the corporations rule their respective territory freely as they see fit. The Corporations are managed by the Executive Directorship Board (or Direx Board), whose seats are filled up by high-ranking business executives from Corporations called Direxes. The Executive Board serves as the government's legislative branch. Presiding over the Direx board is the Head of State the Executive Officer (or ExO), who wields a good deal of power and influence. The Auditor-General serves as the Head of Government, who is subordinate to the ExO and main duties involve observing CSA operations as well as removing corruption and making processes more efficient.

Etti IV is the capital world and seat of power of the Corporate Sector, it hosts most of the government's main organs as well as the headquarters for most of the corporations that make up the Corporate Sector. Etti IV is also the main economic hub of the corporatocracy which many major trade routes converge there.

The Corporate Sector Authority is a member of the Galactic Senate, having ten seats for representation in it. The seats are filled by a corporation's representative whose title may vary, and they vote in interest of the corporation they are representing, rather than a planet or star system like the average senator.

The Security Division is the main military arm of the CSA, responsible for law enforcement and peacekeeping inside Corporate Sector Space, as well as defense against outside threats. The Picket Fleet is the navy of the CSA, which is a large fleet but made up mostly of vessels from the Galactic Civil War era. Although the Picket Fleet would not be ready for war against a major galactic power, it has been effective against pirates and smugglers. In addition to the Security Division, Mega-Corporations inside the Corporate Sector also employ their own private fleets and armies in order to protect their own interests. The structures for those private forces vary, as does their size and their level of tech.

Culture

The Corporate Sector has a diverse population and is a melting pot of differing cultures. The Corporate Sector society places most value on a person's the financial status above most else, not so much ones origins or their race.

While the CSA presents itself as a land of opportunity and freedom away from normal governments such as the Republic or Free Worlds, when they get to the other end they will usually find out it's not what they expected. Corporate Sector culture is mostly cold, joyless, miserable and bleak to the impoverished citizens while their superiors push efficiency and profit at their expense for their own gain.

Slavery is not outlawed in the CSA, and the less reputable do employ slaves for back-breaking labor. Others may instead give meager wages with little opportunity for advancement and live credit to credit. The top mega-corporations have shifted to droids for hard labor, which in the long term has lower costs and much more productive, resulting in much more profit.

Astrography

In the galactic northeast in the Outer Rim is where the Corporate Sector Authority is located, with it's capital being Etti IV. Although the CSA isn't as large as the major galactic governments, the CSA still has many star systems in it's space. Aside from the capital, other notable worlds the CSA controls are Bonadan and Cantonica; the former being a huge port world with massive population and the latter known for it's city Canto Bight and it's luxurious casinos.

Many worlds in Corporate Sector space have been strip-mined bare for resources in search of profit, devoted to production even if it causes pollution and destroys the environment.

Intent

The Corporate Sector gained a Galactic Senate representation in the roleplay, this write-up is to give a good input into how the CSA looks in the present in our site canon, a mix of traits from it's Legends & Canon versions. Also this is an NPC organization.
