DESCRIPTION
The Conductor-class starlaunch is a light utility spacecraft which was originally designed and manufactured by the Republic Fleet Systems corporation during the Old Republic era. Only slightly larger than the typical starfighter of its day, the Conductor's classification of "starlaunch" is an archaic one, denoting a small craft which is typically carried aboard a larger ship, used to ferry small parties and cargo over short distances, a role which is generally filled by full-sized shuttles in the present day.

The Conductor is a mere 19 meters in length, and is flown by a single pilot, with room for up to 5 passengers, all seated in ejection seats beneath a large, full-length transparisteel canopy. The ship can also carry up to 30 tons of cargo, plus 2 weeks worth of consumables. Top speed is only 40 MGLT, although maneuverability is decent, and it is fitted with a class 3 hyperdrive, an unusual feature for a ship of its type. Although not intended for combat roles, the Conductor is armed with a pair of forward-firing blaster cannons.

The Conductor-class starlaunch was widely used by the Republic Navy prior to the Ruusan Reformations, with examples serving on most large capital ships of the era. After the Republic Navy was stood down, however, the type was discontinued, although many were sold off on the civilian market, generating something of a following. In the present day, a reproduction using modern components is offered by Rekklemat Products, a company which specializes in building obsolete starship types for collectors and niche specialty markets.

LEGALITY
Legal. Starlaunches such as the Conductor are considered innocuous enough under most jurisdictions, and are not restricted in most systems.

INTENT
To bring a vessel from canon into our site's fanon.
