"Uh...so you gonna tell me what these guys did or-" Byron stopped talking just long enough to avoid crashing into a speeder truck. "...or are you going to leave me in suspense?" Once again he kept a visual on the [URL='http://airspeeder ahead of him. The woman in Byron's own rented vehicle had more or less commandeered it and had told him to follow a specific airspeeder. The man had looked at her badge despite not having a clue about how to check if it was even valid.

Things always got exciting for the man when he least expected it. Go to Corellia, get some new starship parts, it'll be fun they said. Now look at me. Somewhere along the way he had accidentally dialed the music switch even louder. But it was not a vehicle he was used to. He did not dare take his eyes off the airspeeder ahead. He hoped the safety features of the ride were up to snuff because the last thing he needed was an airbag that wasn't working.

Thalia aimed her blaster as her driver tried to keep up with the thugs, she cursed herself for picking the worst driver in all of Corellia as he tried to keep control of his own speeder without splattering the both of them on the road. She gripped the top of the windshield sending several bolts into the back of the targeted speeder, watching it spark as she heard the driver asking questions. Thalia sighed, "They're arms dealers, they might be connected to some crime bosses who have a supply train from here to Coruscant!" she yelled out over the wind that whipped her blonde hair around her face.

Turning her attention back to the Thugs, they were gaining some distance on them. Focusing, Thalia aimed, she could feel the Force stir inside as she exhaled and fired again, this time the blot hit its mark, the speeder started to smoke. "Get beside it!" she said with a cough from the dirtied air of the speeder. At least they were slowing down and that meant her driver could also slow down and just perhaps he wouldn't crash them.

The last thing she wanted to happen were the thugs to bail and find another speeder. Switching her blaster setting back to stun, she readied her aim, however, they seemed to have attracted a guest as blaster fire flew over their heads. Thalia turned to look, her blaster aimed, "Kriff..." she whispered no longer feeling confident in catching her chase.

Byron was getting tired of being thought of as a lame driver. He could tell the Ranger thought that as she responded and maybe it triggered him a bit. As a result he maximized the acceleration, likely resulting in Thalia being thrown back from the change in momentum.

Subsequently the airspeeder got close. Dangerously close. A blaster bolt from the supposed arms dealr melted a hole in the windshield of the air speeder making him swear just as his frot bumper came along side the speeder with three arms dealers. One was driving, one was in the passenger seat with a blaster rifle and the third...

"HOLY-" He dropped the acceleration for a moment just as a stream of blaster bolts stretched in front of his rented airspeeder. The Nikto in the back seat had a weapon as big as Byron's torso. "Okay...yeah, they're definitly arms dealers." He said to himself more than anyone and brought the airspeeder alongside the target vehicle again. The person in the backseat with the rotary blaster must have overheated suddenly because the Byron was not turned the molten slag immediately. He hoped the crazy Sector Ranger had a plan.

Her driver had hit the accelerator, the speeder jerked forward, causing Thalia to gripped her grasp on the speeder and keep from flying into the backseat. They were able to get beside the speeder, the occupants clearly irritated that they picked up unwanted attention. She fired her blaster, the stun bolt completely missing its target as Byron let up on the accelerator, slowing the speeder and Thalia growled to herself and looked at Byron, "Yes! Why would I make that up!" she huffed.

Thalia aimed her blaster again, the thugs were working to cool and reset the rotary blaster to get it going again. She flicked the switch from stun to lethal, firing several times at the back engine of the speeder, doing whatever damage she could to get it to slow down or stop entirely. However, as she started to fire, blaster fire started from behind them, a second speeder arrived and were on their tail. Thalia fell back into her seat, "Ok, new plan, we're out numbered and we need to lose these guys behind us!" she yelled over the wind that whipped around them.

Holes and scoring marked the speeder ahead of them causing it to smoke more than what a blaster alone caused. The vehicle was clearly damaged and it began to get closer again without Byron needing to floor it. But something else drew his attention. The headlights glaring in his rearview mirror. A moment later the mirror was practically vaporized as a blaster bolt hit it from the approaching tail.

"Uh...hold on!" He slowed enough so that the read end of the rental airspeeder slammed into the front of the speeder behind it. They had attempted to slow down and swerve but still got clipped by the Byron's rental speeder throwing their aim off and causing them to further crash into the back end of a waste collection hover speeder. "....holy-....I can't believe that worked!" His tone of amazement fairly obvious.

A blaster bolt pulled him from his awe just in time to crack and shatter the windshield. His hand raised to protect himself from any shards but none of them managed to cause any deep cuts. He forgot about who they were chasing for a moment. Keep the peace. Yeah sure... but what do I do once it's already been broken? He thought to himself as he tried readjusting their position so the Sector Ranger in the back seat could do something about it.

Thalia noted the holes in the speeder now and grimaced, "I hope you have good insurance on this thing!" she said unaware of it being a rental. He did recognize their need to get away from the thugs on their tail, instructing her to brace, but Thalia was uncertain on what he was going to do or really who he was. She was certain he was still a civilian who was looking for a thrill instead of evacuating from his speeder when she got inside. However, she gripped the seat as he let up on the accelerator, the speeder that was on their tail and literally hitting the corner of their speeder to send them off course.

"Holy Wampa...I can't believe that worked!" she laughed at the same time as he let out his disbelief of the move working also. She gasped as another blaster bolt hit the windshield, shards of glass cut her driver, and she pulled herself up, her senses reaching outwards to feel the urgency that surrounded the speeder in front of them. She heard Bryron speak, or at least she thought he spoke out loud and frowned, "Its about damage control now, keeping them from disrupting the peace further!" she explained.

Thalia reached out with the Force, trying to find a grasp, her eyes closed her palms and fingers outstretched listening, and feeling until Force commanded her. Her fingers begun to move as though it were slowly pressing the keys of some instrument. The speeder's back-end begun to spark and the vehicle slowed, smoke trailed behind them, leaving a clear path to follow. Thalia opened her eyes, surveying her work, her brow narrowed in thought, "Slow down...give them space..." she said tapping his arm.

"Yeah...you say that like it's-" He replied but was interrupted as he focused on avoiding another collision. "...KARKIN' easy!" An aggressive huff followed as Byron swerved a little more smoothly between traffic and began to gain on their target.

"Wha-..force damn it..." The man eased off the accelerator despite having the ability to finally get closer again. He admitted he did not know how to persue a criminal group in a high speed chase but all the same took the woman's word as law. Looking ahead he began to see the target vehicle beginning to smoke. "Oh." The optimistic tone clear compared to how he spoke earlier. But looking in the rearview mirror and subsequently over his shoulder he saw how the Ranger began to manipulate the force. "oooooooooh." His expression towards the Ranger clearly indicating he expected her to give a good explanation for all of this after it was over.

Eventually the speeder they were chasing gave out, the engines surrendering to its damage and the thugs decided to take the street as they quickly exited. One though fell out of the speeder rather clumsily, rolling his ankle as the other two took off, but he was right behind them. Thalia already had one foot on the door of the speeder, "Going on foot! Stay put!" she called out and leaped out of the speeder also, chasing after the men. She wasn't too concerned about her driver, she figured he would wait behind with his wrecked up speeder now until either her or another officer came by so he could file an appropriate report for reimbursement damages.

Whether he followed or not, Thalia gave chase. The one thug who had tailed behind raised his blaster to firing indiscriminately toward those who were chasing them. The ranger though fired back, people running out of the way as blaster fire erupted in the streets. Thalia switched her blaster to stun, firing several bolts, but missed, her aim off and she let out a curse. She reached within herself, recalling the lessons from Max and his holocron as she felt the warmth of the Force spread from her core to the tips of her limbs and making her ability to navigate the crowd much manageable.

The one thug who continuously tailed behind was losing momentum and Thalia was able to catch up, tackling him to the ground, "Don't move!" she yelled, "You're under arrest by the Sector Rangers!"

The thug let out a yell as blaster fire rang out, Thalia felt something burn along her arm and she cried out in surprise, falling back from on top of the thug she was arresting. Her criminal jumped up and started to hobble, but was cut short as more blaster fire came; Thalia ducked out of the way, but the bolts were for their own, shooting him dead on the spot.

Pulling up beside the speeder after the thugs began running away, Byron looked over his shoulder to see Thalia leaping out of his airspeeder and shouting at him. "Not like I can do much else." He muttered. His own speeder sputtered for a moment and the criminal's vehicle clunked to the ground in response as its basic repulsors gave out.

More blaster shots followed down the alleyway that the Sector Ranger had taken. Byron's eyes tried to keep an eye on her. He could still see her when she tackled the lagging thug. A moment later she fell off of he perpitrator. Cursing under his breath Byron got out of his airspeeder and made a dash to see if she was alright.

His shoes nearly skidded on the pavement. In his hand he held his blaster pistol and made sure it was set to stun. "Ranger! Ranger are you alright?" He fired some panicked blaster bolts in the direction he saw the shots come from but didn't seem to hit anything. Not far away, Byron saw the smoking corpse of the man who had been alive moments before. Byron's eyes looked back towards the airspeeder, debating if he should encourage her to head back to the vehicle. Getting into a high speed chase was not what he had planned for the day let alone a fire fight with arms dealers. Aren't I supposed to be acting like a Jedi or something? What would a Jedi do in this situation?

She heard footsteps quickly approaching and she turned with her blaster raised, seeing Byron nearly skidding to stop himself as he asked if she were alright. Thalia didn't answer right away as she looked at smoldering body of the dealer she did apprehend, now of no further use to her or his own gang. "Yeah..." she said softly at first, the pain in her arm reminded her of the injury she just attained, "Yeah, I'm fine." she said looking at her arm, unhappy of the burn that blistered her skin; it hurt to even cover it with her hand.

The Ranger looked for her footing and stood up, holstering her weapon as she did, hearing Byron mention something about being a Jedi and Thalia froze. "You're a Jedi?!" her eyes widened, "Why are you asking me what you should be doing?" she hissed a little annoyed, more so at her situation, but now she had just used the Force in the presence of another Jedi made her uneasy. The worst case scenario would be her abilities and being not a Jedi would be misinterpreted.

Turning to look back down the alley, she tried to think clearly, but her arm stung more than she could tolerate. Thalia took out her comm and radioed in her location and badge number, getting clearance and a time that additional Rangers would come and clean up the mess. She then had this Jedi.

"Ok, what is your name, Jedi?" she asked, still sounding short.

The man looked at her with a slightly confused expression. The way she responded was not what he was expecting and he began to wonder if he should not have said he was a Jedi. "Oh....uh...I'm kind new to it?" He posed his answer with a shrug.

The woman would call in for more Rangers it sounded like. The man was not familiar with police chatter though he was beginning to think he should get to know it. As she made the call he would scoot around to her injury and look at it a bit closer. "I think I've got a med-kit in the speeder." He went over towards the vehicle and would get it before coming back.

As he opened up the first aid kit he didn't stop as he answered. "The name's Byron...Ranger" He said with a hint of sass in his tone. Byron tried to move her sleeve out of the way so he could treat it. "What's your's?"

She was reluctant to let him touch her even if it were to assist with the burn on her arm, but he was a Jedi after all, she had to give some trust that he knew what he was doing. As he moved her sleeve she flinched, but the pain was good, the burn was not as deep as it could have been. "Byron the Jedi...I'm Thalia." she said and then fell quiet, watching him work for a moment.

"Don't worry, I'm kind of new to doing this Ranger thing." she smirked, trying to make light of the situation for just a brief moment, knowing she had been fairly short with him.

Waiting until he was done, she jumped up from her seat, gently rolling her sleeve back down and dusted off her pants as though she were attempting to impress whoever was going to be arriving. A speeder pulled up and Thalia walked up to the officer, flashing her badge and filled in what had happened and the leaving them to investigate the death of the thug. Thalia glanced back at Byron before being dismissed by the officers.

"C'mon, leave the speeder, they'll take care of it." she waved for Byron to follow her, "We're going to go check something out." she told him, "But as far as they are concerned, you're escorting me to the hospital to be checked out."

Byron shook his head with a smile. "Byron's fine....Thalia." His tone genuinly trying to be friendly while also hoping to keep her from flinching or tensing as he took care of the wound. The man assumed she said her first name. He was pretty sure he knew someone in elementary school named Thalia.

Getting everything taken care of with his limited expertise, Byron grabbed the medkit again. Thalia was already walking to meet the newest arrival. He stood back, waiting to be asked questions or getting drug tested. The police still made him nervous like any ordinary citizen.

Thalia waved for him to follow. His inquisitive look was clear as he glanced at the speeder. Byron hoped that he wasn't going to have to pay out of pocket for the damages. "Oh...okay...." He thought about her words for a moment before he furrowed his brow. "Wait....whyyyyy would they need to have a different kind of concern? I mean if we're going to the hospital then let's go to the hospital why do you have to say it like we're about to do something morally ambiguous?"

His response gave her a smirk, "I don't need a hospital, I need to check in with the informant that lead me to this chase." she explained, "Its not morally ambiguous, I just need..." she shrugged, "...a few more answers to questions." she told him, trying to find the right wording. "Plus, aren't Jedi like a mini hospital, you can do that healing thing?" she asked, "So if I get a cut, you can bandage it up and do your tricks."

Thalia glanced back over her shoulder to ensure no one was following them as she took a turn down the street that lead away from the hospital and back to the district where she had commandeered Byron's speeder. That speeder now was part of Ranger' property in the investigation and he was probably not going to get it back, "I'm sorry about the speeder, you may want to get a report from the Sergeant so you can get reimbursed." Thalia frowned as she navigated through the returning crowds of Coronet's streets. Someone bumped into her injured arm and the woman gasped from the sudden sting. She tried to grasp it, but it only hurt more and instead took a couple deep breaths.

"So what were you doing here before I interrupted?" she asked.

"Like I said, 'I'm new to this.' so you'd be be better off relying on a medical professional....please." Byron hoped the Ranger didn't just see him like a bottle of pocket bacta. While he knew first aid, he didn't like the idea of anybody getting badly hurt.

They had already begun walking away from the speeder when Thalia suggested he get the information from the Sergeant. Looking up and groaning like a teenager he turned on his heel and went back to the uniformed officer. After some moments of trying to make sure he had everything he needed, Byron rejoined Thalia.

"I was trying to get some decent starship parts and maybe scout out a new ride altogether. Corellia seems like one of the better places to buy a ship after all...." His eyes looked towards the Ranger, not being able to help but actually look at her for the first time since she had commandeered his speeder. "...but I haven't been able to do much shopping since I arrived." A hint of blame in his voice but he knew that she had been doing her job. Sighing, Byron came to terms with his situation all the same. "What about you? I mean...before you were chasing down arms dealers." He had to remember to act appropriator since he was representing the Jedi Order in this interaction. Except I don't know how to act like a shabbing jedi He screamed at himself in the comfort of his own mind.

He explained his plans that were interrupted by her as his purpose for being on Corellia. Thalia thought it was odd for a Jedi to be even out here on such a task and skewed what she had believed about the Jedi. He added a piece about the lack of progress in his personal goal and looked at her, Thalia could feel his eyes on her and she looked at him in return, a wide grin across her face. He seemed to accept the detour in plans though, inquiring what she was doing.

She couldn't really think of anything other than work and gave Byron a shrug and a frown, hearing him scold himself about acting like a Jedi, "More work...I'm actually stationed on Coruscant, however, things seemed to pour here on Corellia. I thought about getting a transfer since I spend more time here than I do at my current station." Thalia glanced at Byron, her pace started to slow as she approached a shadier sector.

"Look, thank you for putting up with me and I'm sorry about your speeder. Though we did not get them, it will help with the investigation." she told Byron coming to a stop, "But you don't need to stick with me, I can go about my own business now and you can get your parts, and hopefully a new speeder." Thalia rested a hand on his arm in reassurance.

Byron kept up but slowed as he realized he began taking the lead. His head turned to look at Thalia and begin paying attention to where she looked. Her street smarts were understandably sharper than his own so he began to try and open himself up to his surroundings. At least that way he would make up for his lack of experience. hopefully

As they slowed Thalia began giving him a 'I'm letting you off the hook' speech. Byron smirked for a brief moment and then realized that she genuinely thought he was going to not follow through on this. "Thanks Thalia, but I'll sleep better knowing you've got backup." His gaze drifted to the side as he processed what he said with hindsight. "Even if it's me." His eyes looked back towards the Ranger and smiled. It felt like the right thing to do, to help her and Byron was going to follow that instinct. His arm turned slightly in Thalia's grasp and didn't pull away, but just grasped her forearm back to affirm his stubborn choice on the matter.

He returned the gesture, taking her own arm in his hand and squeezed it slightly to give reassurance of his word. She gave him a wide smile in return unsure if he knew what he was walking into with her, but she would give him the benefit of the doubt. He was a Jedi after all and she held him to the same standards as she held herself...even if they were both quite new to being who they were. "Alright." she nodded and gestured with a head tilt in the direction they were headed.

Leading the way, she took Byron through a couple of busier streets before stopping in front of a set of stairs that lead to a bar under one of the buildings. "Just sit back, look out for any trouble. I pretty much just need to rough up this guy for selling me poor information and see if I can't get a..." she shrugged, "...refund of some sort. Just find a place and stay put though." Thalia explained, brushing a feel of her blaster at her side, she lead the way down the steps and into the dimly bar. As soon as the door opened, they were hit with an overwhelming smell of cigara smoke and old booze. It did not seem to bother Thalia too much, she was uncertain if Byron would tolerate it. Regardless, she moved inside, not seeing her informant right away a she slowly walked through the bar, table to table.

She circled her way through the bar, but not seeing her guy, she went to join Byron instead.

As the two kept walking, Byron slowly began to recongize the indicators of the seedier part of town. When they stopped at the top of some stairs that headed down into a bar the Jedi gave Thalia another look. His anxious expression only increased in exageration as she started sounding more and more like a bounty hunter. But he also had never really interacted with law enforcement before so as far as he knew this was how it was done. "Oh...um...ok"

He consciously swallowed and tightened his hands into fists for a moment and then relaxed hoping he looked only half as alert as he actually felt. Byron blinked and followed her part of the way through until finding his way to the bar. The man kept an eye on Thalia at all times since she was the one that had brought him here. He felt worse than when he had gone to that party without knowing anybody. The ranger would come back to him after making a quick look around the establishment. "Uh...can I get a shot?"

"of what?" The bartender said with a gravely voice.

"uuh" He shrugged, not really having thought it through. Byron was just nervous and uncomfortable. A drink to calm his nerves seemed like the smartest thing to do. "just karkin whiskey I guess"

She stood closely beside Byron, having to squeeze in the the narrow space that was left, or was more created for her as she ordered a drink for herself. "I'll take a whiskey also." she told the bar tender who gave the two of them a look, though his gaze lasted a little longer on Byron. Thalia could feel his nerves, his feelings of unease and doubt wavered in the Force; she placed a hand on his arm, "The secret is to look confident even if you don't feel like you are." she said just loud enough for him to hear and then looked up, waiting to see him take heed to her words.

The bar tender returned with their drinks and Thalia laid down some credits, however, as she lifted the glass to her lips, there seemed to be a commotion coming from the back. Quickly Thalia took a sip of her drink, feeling the burn awaken her senses both physically and through the Force as the shouting and cursing grew louder before several figures burst into lounge. Silence paused though conversations like a wave through the bar as the arguing continued. Three larger thugs versus one intimidating looking duros who seemed to have gotten himself into hot water.

Thalia knew exactly who it was, it was the informant, and the thugs, well, Byron would recognize their dress as the ones they were chasing earlier.

Tables toppled and people begun to scatter out or the opposite end of the bar to still watch what was going to happen. Thalia took another sip before setting down her drink and whipping out her blaster. She glanced at Byron before her eyes fell onto the Duros who was now pressed into the top of a nearby table, begging to be spared.

"Roo, looks like things are a little difficult." she said loudly to draw some attention. The Duros looked at Thalia and smiled.

"Thaliahhhh...uhh, yeah, just you're average day as me!" he sarcastically proclaimed, however the thugs at this point recognized the two and threw the informant to the side and drew their blasters.
