R5-9A, psychopathic medic extraordinaire, sat behind the closed doors that marked the Restricted Section of the Sith Library on Korriban. Despite his many decorated years of service to the Empire and its predecessors, going back to the Clone Wars even, R5-9A was still just regarded as an Agent at best and a mechanical asset at worst. And both meant that he had to be in the company of a Sith to access these restricted tomes. His impatience was threatening to overwhelm his circuits so he ran an internal diagnostic of his circuits and reassured himself that someone would come.
He didn't see why someone wouldn't come. Frankly, the Sith had been experiencing more than a couple of defeats at the hands of the Jedi recently and, with this business against the Pykes threatening to brew into another conflict, the Sith Empire could use all the help they could get in terms of manpower. That was where R5-9A's brilliant plan came in. In his many decades studying biology (mostly with unwilling subjects), R5 had come to the conclusion that the Trandoshan and Wookiee species, could, with some biological "tweaking" be combined to form a bizarre hybrid combining the regenerative capabilities of the Trandoshans with the strength of the Wookiees. With the right amount of funding and support, R5 could create armies of these hybrids as soon as he confirmed his findings.
And the confirmation was sure to be found among these dusty tomes. He'd heard tell that an ancient Sith Lord had conducted similar experiments and he absolutely needed to get his hands on that data before he could proceed. Hopefully, the Sith superiors he'd put the information request took him seriously and would send someone soon.
