Tactical Commander:
The Tactical Commander leads the Ascendancy's military to the fullest degree, holding a seat on the Council of Eminence and serving as the Grand Imperator's second in command.

Grand Magister:
Only one may be Grand Magister. This one Marine leads all other Marines. This is a position of great power, and authority. The Grand Magister’s word is taken very seriously. They control hundreds of thousands of ground troops, as well as every Marine in the Chiss forces. They control a massive assault fleet, sometimes numbering hundreds of ships.

High Magister:
High Magisters are powerful entities whose words ring in every ear. They have proven their worth in more battles than nearly any other soldier. Their Chiss Assault fleets protect the Ascendancy from the front lines. Only Magisters who have shown unwavering loyalty and regard to Chiss law can become High Magisters. They control tens of thousands of Marines, and dozens of capital ships.

Magister:
If a Marine survives all that is thrown at them, they have the chance to rise to a high position. Through suicidal missions, they have proven their loyalty, and dedication to the Chiss. As such, they can become Magisters. Magisters are under the naval branch, as assault commanders. A Magister is in control of thousands of Marines, as well as a small assault fleet consisting of five ships. Magisters are rare to see, as so few ever live to rise to this rank. Magisters are often used as temporary military governors of newly conquered territory until a more permanent government can be put into place.

Centurion Prime:
Marine Centurions who have miraculously survived the trip through the ranks, and continued to fight, may become Centurion Primes. This rank is reserved for those who become legends and heroes among the Marines. These Marines are those who lead from the front lines, the first into battle, and the last to leave. They lead through example, and never back down. They are in charge of five to ten Centurions.

Centurion:
A Centurion is a Marine who has survived countless battles, trained many soldiers, shown great valor, leadership, and loyalty. These Marines are among the greatest warriors on any battlefield. Trained in nearly every art of war, and forged through the crucible of battle, they face any foe with unwavering courage. These Marines lead groups of three to ten Legionnaire Primes into Battle. This is usually the highest rank a Marine will ever live to see.

Legionnaire Prime:
A Legionnaire Prime is a Marine’s first true taste of leadership and power. They have survived at least ten missions, and have shown natural leadership abilities as well as the ability to plan on their feet. They lead a group of ten to twenty Legionnaires and Recruits. Many Marine Legionnaire Primes are sent to the academy to teach Marine Cadets.

Legionnaire:
To become a Legionnaire, means that a Recruit has completed at least two successful missions and survived. These Marines not only have incredible training, but have survived some of the toughest missions the Chiss armed forces can throw at them. Only the strong make it to this rank.

Recruit:
A Marine Recruit has completed the deadly four year training required to transform a soldier, into a Marine. However, as they lack any real combat experience, they are at the lowest level and not given a true rank. Still they are a force to be reckoned with. Floods of recruits are trained each year.

I like having similar ranks to Army ranks in the navy's fighting force, but it's built like a sub-faction. They seem to orient around being special shock troops, but don't have the Force sensitivity as a feature like the Immortals. The Marine Corps seemed like a branch of a sub-faction, as a type of specialization to choose in the military board, rather than its own division. As a part of the military though, it would be managed by the Tactical Commander as the sub-faction supervisor and holding the seat on the council, but the branch could be personally oversaw by a general that coordinates that group. The same is being done with the individual branches of CAIN.

In short, I would edit the top few ranks, but their military standards are fine. The marines would operate cooperatively with the Expansionary Defense Force's Navy, so their command would be legitimate.

Is the grand Mangister going to have a seat on the council?

No, the Grand Magister will not. That is the job of the Tactical Commander. And these are still being worked out!

I've added this post in the Marine Corps writeup. I'm undecided if it will be its own writeup or added to the Expansionary Defense Force descriptions and ranks.
