The Chiss-Imperium Internship Program, formerly known as the Chiss-Empire Internship Program, was an initiative established prior to the Third Galactic Civil War to foster better relations and interactions between the Chiss Ascendancy and the Elyurius Empire, created in 1,001 ABY. CAIN Director Arch’elie’lia and The Emperor’s Sword, Stern Stark, hoped it would promote trade and decrease tensions that had briefly arisen after the Jal Shey Rebellion that had attempted to rock the foundation of the empire, though failed after Stark assassinated its leader, Atlas La Rouge. Prior to the Purge, the internship program focused on exploration, education, medicine, Force training and implementation, and trade.
When Darth Aevum’s Sith took over, the internship program temporarily was suspended. Most Chiss in Imperial Space fled back home. Some of the Imperials serving in Chiss Space fled to places unknown, returned home, or sought sanctuary with the Chiss; of the latter, some were accepted while others were returned to the empire as leverage. For two years, the Chiss ceased communication with the empire to wait for the Sith development to either dissipate or solidify. Darth Aevum concreted Sith dominance over the empire, slaying Emperor Luthor Elyurius and taming his Sword. However, after a while, communications resumed. Cautious at first, the Chiss resumed talks with the empire and reestablished the Chiss-Empire Internship Program, only sending a minute amount of Chiss as compared to pre-Purge conditions. One of these interns was Brask’ai’nuruodo, whose participation and eventual elevation to Grand Admiral in the Imperial Fleet gave hope that the internship could be resumed to full.
Still, the renewed internship program came with some changes. No longer were education, exploration, and medicine avenues of the internship program. Instead, the internship program began to focus on military, science, and trade. Once, the internship program allowed training from the Imperial Knights. Now, Force instruction and tutelage were done by the Sith. The Chiss Internship Program allowed another possibility too. Prior to Grand Imperator Arch’elie’lia’s declaration of war on the Galactic Alliance ‘for hostilities towards Chiss allies the Imperium and the Mandalorians’, the internship program allowed for Chiss to partake in the Third Galactic Civil War while keeping its neutrality in the war. Now, as an active member in the Third Galactic Civil War, the internship program is flourishing, allowing for a stronger bond between the technologically advanced Chiss and the powerful New Sith Imperium.
The Chiss-Imperium Internship Program is run through the Chiss Ascendancy Intelligence Network (commonly referred to as CAIN) and the Imperium’s Diplomatic Bureau, headed Arch’elie’lia and Stern Stark, respectively.

Due to the Imperium serving as a bulwark in space, the Chiss Ascendancy and the Mandalorians did not interact much before the war. Philosophical and cultural differences didn’t promote too much interaction, though did not prevent the occasional interaction. Trade was carried out between the Chiss and the Mandalorians prior to the war, but not much was done past that.
However, when the Purge happened, the Chiss were concerned. Seeking allies, the Chiss contacted the Mandalorians for a five year pact to insure each would aid the other if the Sith took over the empire and sought war with either party. A small internship program began, with some Chiss taking Mandalorian training and vice versa. However, it would not be until nine years after the Purge did the Imperium begin its war. With the pact dissolved by time, neither the Mandalorians nor the Chiss restored the pact, the temporary internship program having faded away. By the time war began, it was too late to do much.
Eventually, the Mandalorians and Chiss Ascendancy would restore political ties to one another. Through the work of Mandalore Corden Vencu and CAIN Director Arch’elie’lia, a new internship program was formed. The Chiss-Mandalorian Internship Program. This one promoted more interaction and training, along with more trade. Chiss would receive Mandalorian training while Chiss allowed Mandalorians access to Chiss resources for MandalMotors while also providing their own militaristic training. Just as Brask’ai’nuruodo became a poster child of the Chiss-Imperium Internship Program, Cordia Dawn became famous in the internship program by becoming High Immortal of the Immortal Order briefly.
