Ask Plot Nar Shaddaa Chilling in the Shade

Xath boarded the ship with apprehension. He didn't know what to think of the dwarf he'd met on Nar Shaadaa, whether he could be trusted or not. Nevertheless, they were of the same organization. He coughed and shook his head.

The Mistress Shade was beautifully crafted; he'd have been honored to own anything of the sort. Whoever this guy was, he had money...a lot of it. He turned to the left, winced, and looked down to see the character. "Look..." He rasped, coughing again. "We've not been officially introduced and I shouldn't talk to strangers, let alone go into the ship." He laughed before another spasm caught him. "Name's..." He hesitated. He had his Sith clothes on, and though he wanted to trust this man, he wasn't sure he could.

"Well, you can call me the Cimmerian" His alias wasn't the best, but it'd do. It sure did fit his personality, that was certain. Then again, did he really fear the late? Or was it just a hate? Strong dislike? Fear leads to anger...they were all connected. Didn't matter.

[Argyle Paltos]

Argyle had managed to find the man he felt in the Force, he had helped him evade prying eyes to get them both back to Paltos' ship and to relative safety...and seclusion. He stared up at the ramp and patted his side. His coin purse of onset funds had almost been dried. I'll have to replenish once I return to Coruscant he thought to himself as he looked up to the man who now addressed himself as the Cimmerian.

"How poetic" he stated with heavy voice as he came aboard, pulling his hood down to reveal his clean shaven face and heavy eyes, "I'm Argyle. Tell me my dear fellow" he said looking around as if looking for something, "Would you like something to drink? Wine Perhaps? Or even a spot of Spotchka?" he said with a grin, tapping on what was apparently a small refrigerator unit...

Xath shrugged and shook his head. Although he'd like some wine...That wasn't what he was there for.
"Actually, my good man...I have a proposition." He rasped his words out one at a time, hoping the dwarf could hear him. "You're...like me...I can sense it. I know. And I need your help." He turned, shrugged, and went on.

"As to my proposition, I mean a business one." He stopped and pulled out a holoprojector, immediately displaying a space station. "See this thing? It's for sale. For thousands. And thousands. And I repeat, THOUSANDS of credits. I don't care how much money in the kriffing world you have, you'll never be able to afford this thing." He closed the projector and looked the dwarf in the eyes.

"Nevertheless...there's always more than one way to get something."

[Argyle Paltos]

Argyle stared at the fellow Sith and heard his proposition. His face began to betray a wide smirk across its surface as the station began to come into focus. He folded his arms and leaned against a bulk head before clicking a button, sealing the ramp and making sure that no one could hear the following.

"First of all comrade glad to be in good company." he stated as he began to pour some Nabooian Wine into some goblets, giving one to his cohort and began to sip, "Second of all I'm insanely interested in your idea. I can see the possibilities of using such a station for a plethora of uses is tempting. But the key will either be to gain the capital needed to gain such station OR we'll have to well...persuade the current owner to part with such a facility." he said as he continued to sip, "What do you propose on how to gain this asset for the cause?" he said as he climbed onto a stool, gauging to see how his cohort would react...

Xath grinned maliciously under his mask. "Ahh, yes...persuade is the correct word to use. Assuming my research has been correct, you should be quite wealthy, and I know I can contribute in the slightest..." He paused. "But we won't have enough." He stared at the station. "I may be able to have some...others help us with that part." His voice rasped meticulously.

"Current events have made it difficult for us to operate in secrecy. If we could obtain this asset, we could operate from it with incredible efficiency; not to mention, if war is what the Eternal wants, we will need funds. A business is just the way to do that."

He closed the image and accepted the wine. "We must get this asset. Whether we threaten him, make him think we're someone we're not, or kill everyone he loves right in front of his face, he will turn it over."

Argyle nodded at the options the other Sith laid before him, sipping on his own wine while he began to pace the interior of his shuttle, "All Valid...all effective...all resulting" he said agreeing, "...I have another one...but it will require careful planning, careful study...and most importantly a weakness" he said with a sly and merciless grin across his face as he gulped down the wine, reaching for the jug and filling it back up, "Everyone has a weakness...Mine is wine, women, song, and a hunger for knowledge...the latter has gained me considerable capital so far but blackmailing low level politicians can only get you so much scraps....now...for a man like our target he has something much more...substantial...We must do research on this brigand. Find out his Vices...his Demons...maybe even find something he wants. We can either use it to dangle over his head and make him comply...or use it so either he gives into our demands or we..." Suddenly a glass behind Xath exploded, "...crush him..." Argyle finished maintaining eye contact with Xath...

Xath flinched as the glass exploded and grinned under the mask. He liked this dwarf, and he didn't like a lot of people..."Only problem is..." He held up the holoprojector, showing the face of an alien. "He's not some old man. He's a medium-aged danger, someone who won't exactly be pushed around without a fight." He closed the projector.

"First thing's first, we have to meet him. He's actually right outside the planet, only about a 10 minute flight. We get there, meet him, and start scrutinizing from there. After we get what we need...as you say, a 'weakness,' then we can spring the trap."

He stared into an abyss, his look wandering around the shuttle. "For the Eternal."

 

[Argyle Paltos]

"For the Eternal" replied as he clanged their glasses, "Except you have it backwards....We find his weaknesses first...Make sure we have the leverage before we meet him...and if he doesn't cooperate...we bend him to our will" he said as he sipped the wine, "We shall depart at once and begin our hunt. Do you prefer to find the dirt on our new best friend...or should I?" he asked as he looked towards his pilot droid, nodding him to prep the ship for take off, "Is there anything you'd like to collect before we make our journey?" he asked.

"Ahh, my friend, I like the way you think. I'm more headstrong, like to blaze my way into a storm. I think it's a better idea to, as you say, 'find the dirt.' As for me, I'm not necessarily one who would do well at that job. I'll leave the specifics, in terms of that, to you. Meanwhile, I'll fly my ship over here so we can go separately."

He turned his back and walked out of the ship as the bay opened. This could work...but it was all for the Eternal. He had big plans in life, but they could not take precedent over his true allegiance.

Argyle watched as Xath took his leave. He grinned as he polished off his wine and allowed the ramp to close. Afterwards he went to the cockpit and commanded his droid to take off, "Xath will keep our man busy whilst i find some dirt. Hopefully a scum of this caliber should have more than enough dirt to convince him to...cooperate" he said with a grin as the Shade Took flight. He watched as Xath's ship came along side him, watching him for a moment before his comrade took the lead towards the station...

Xath qued his com and spoke in his raspy voice; "Heads up, we'll be there soon. I'll keep him occupied...you do what you need to do. Hell, I don't care if you tell him you need to take a bathroom break and then steal all his computer files. Do what you've gotta do..."

His tie flew through the planet's atmosphere quickly; Ties probably weren't the best thing to be flying in this case but too late now, right? The station slowly came into view, growing larger and larger with each passing second. A call came up over the coms as a starfighter took off. Escorts were so annoying...

"Hey, this that guy who wants to buy the station?" A voice spoke in a gruff tone. "Yessir, Jalen Kari at your service." Xath tried to speak as clearly as he could, drawing some clothes over his robes. "I'm bringing a friend, just someone who helps me with papers and the like." He ensured his com was still on so Argyle could here the conversation. "Well, hurry up. I don't have all day."

Xath smiled. They were in business.

Argyle followed Xath as the station in question came into view. A grin fell across his face as Argyle observed the outer hull of the Station. Yes this station will do just fine for our situation, he thought to himself, we just need to get it. He followed Xath to the hangar, setting down and throwing a cape over his body and waited for the ramp to drop. Within moments it did and he walked down with a strange grace for a man of his stature. He stood at the bottom of the ramp, waiting for his cohort to take a step forward. He would then follow him to the one who sought to sell the station...or whatever he was trying to do. Argyle stood there and waited, looking around to notice to his surprise that the stations security was a bit...lax for something of its size...

Xath landed gracefully in the hangar and stepped out, noticing Argyle's ramp lowering simultaneously. He climbed to the ground and landed with a thump before surveying the area. "Security sure is light..." He thought, shrugging.

At that moment, a...dwarf?!?...came into few, a couple of B-1's flanking him, obviously bodyguards. "Ahh, Mr. Kari. Didn't take you long at all." He laughed sarcastically. "I'm on a tight schedule, and I've got a couple others shooting to get this thing out of my hands. I'll give you a fast tour, then we can sit down and discuss business."

Xath nodded and spoke up. "Sounds good, Mr. Ora. We'll get out of your hair as quickly as possible." The dwarf nodded towards Argyle, appreciating their similarity, before addressing him directly. "And this is your friend? Nice to see you have someone of such...respectable demeanor."

Argyle stepped off the ramp, meeting with Xath and to his surprise another dwarf. He gave the similarly sized man a smile before shaking his hand and hearing his words, "Nice to see someone of respectable demeanor as well" he said with a grin as he released his grip, "Shall we have a word with your employer then? I hear he is exquisitely anxious to rid himself of this hulk" he said with a strangely cheerful demeanor. The dwarf nodded and led Argyle and Xath from the hangar to a vast series of empty rooms, parlors and offices. Argyle attempted to take note of everything to ensure he remembered the layout of the station. If this was to be his new base of operations, he might as well memorize every small detail...

Xath mentally noted the dwarf surveying the place; sure was a smart thing to do. He didn't have that kind of patience. Instead, he focused on what to do, say, and whatnot...had to make a good impression or they'd never get the place...peacefully, anyways.

After a few hallways, blast doors, and chandeliers, they finally got to a wealthy looking room, furnished heavily with tables. A man sat alone at one of them, reading a book. He looked up as the trio came into the room.

"Ahhh!! My new business partners...what can I say, do, tell you today? Anything, anything...besides lower the cost I'm offering." He laughed at his own stupid joke, and Xath sighed. This was going to be miserable.

"As you can see, this place used to be a casino. I was very wealthy, until I lost everything I owned in a game of sabacc, everything but the station itself. I'm in need of money now, and can't settle for much less than the said price." Xath thought of the number; it had too many zeroes in it for them.

"We're not here to discuss the money yet, sir; instead, we'd like to, well, learn more about you. About this place." Yes, that was a good place to start...

Good Good, Thought Argyle, "I agree. Where you say you lost everything I honestly see promise...and a possible business partner" he stated with a slight grin as he gave the owner a bow, "Shall we all discuss this over say...a bottle of wine?" he suggested as he gestured to an abandoned bar, "If you don't even have that never fear. I have some on my ship if any of us are in a drinking mood" he said eyeing Xath, giving him a bit of a nod...

Xath eyed the dwarf; he liked the way he thought. He nodded and looked back at the owner. "Yes, plenty of promise...I'm sure you'd be glad to have this place restored back to its former glory."

The other dwarf at walked behind the bar and pulled out a bottle, bringing a few glasses as well. As he poured the wine, the owner began talking.

"Once a famous casino, as I told you, I had a lot of wealth. We've about 50 rooms with the main one being here; we let customers stay in them at a price...Now I'm trying to get someone...the right someone...to take it out of my hands."

He grinned. "I won't be rejecting you immediately for any other reason than were you to be one of those red-sabers...they scare me extensively." Xath nodded. "Yes, of course we're not in league with them...they're awful." He was laughing inside; they now had a fear that they could...exploit.

Argyle grinned as he looked to find as seat to take, "Yes...dreadful creatures those red-Sabers" he noted almost feeling a tad giddy before returning his focus to the task at hand, "Troubling times we have here indeed don't you think my friend?" he asked as he waited for Xath to give him a cup of wine, "So tell me. I did have some thoughts about the place in general. Does it have potential to expand out? Additions and the like?" he asked as he split his focus between talking to the owner...and slowly with his will pulling a small cylinder from behind him to his fingers without anyone noticing...

The owner turned towards the dwarf as he asked the question. "Ahh, expansions? Additions? Anything you like. I added a few myself; thing is, I don't have quite the right amount of money to do that anymore..." He laughed.

"My assistant here will show you around, and you can sleep on it. Come back tomorrow, make me an offer. I'll be here." Xath nodded and thanked the man before turning around.

The dwarf looked up at them, or at least, up at Xath. "Right this way," he said grumpily.

Argyle sipped on his wine for a moment as he heard, good good, that means that we may make it even larger than it already is...perfect for hiding spots as well, He thought before setting the finished the wine, "Excellent! Well see what we can offer tomorrow!" he noted looking around, particularly the little dwarf who began to lead them back to their ships. He let their walk be as slow as possible before walking up behind the other dwarf, "You're boss seems to be a rather cheery fellow is he not?" he asked, making sure to gauge the fellow dwarf's response...
