Born into a wealthy merchant family on Pantora, the Chi Choni had a relatively peaceful childhood, far from any danger or tension. But growing older, strange things happened around the little girl, candle flames extinguished around her without any wind, things fell over without anyone colliding with them, but most disturbingly, smaller insects were ripped apart midair when she was surprised by them or found them in her room. Overwhelmed her superstitious parents gave her to the new Jedi Order, fearing that if they would not rid themselves of the girl, the worst was yet to come.
For a young girl of 14, Chi took the separation rather well. Being brought up mostly by private teachers and changing nurturers, she had not developed a deep connection to them, and instead found joy in books and stories. She relished in the classes that the Jedi still had, and did good in theory, as well as with the force. She was the prime example of a decent student, except for her impatience and eagerness for more. Lightsabers and fighting interested her especially, and she was often found lying to her fellow students or masters in hope of speeding her training up. After being reprimanded numerous times by her master, she eventually fell into a behavioural pattern more normal for a Jedi Padawan.
But no matter how much her master tried to drill it into her head, she never understood the way of the Jedi. When reading of the Jedi of old, you found amazing tacticians, cunning politicians and fighters of galaxy wide renown, yet now they seemed to be hermits, or healers for the needy. She could not understand how a once so great power had reduced itself to such pity. The notion that they where meant to serve because of their great power escaped her. If one was born in a position of great power, clearly distinguished amongst individuals, why would one not use this power?
The years past, and she became more and more decent at her lectures. She and her Master still did not come to terms on everything, but they had developed a certain way of working. When helping those in need, he would often help those in need directly, while she approached the more wealthy, the higher classes and politicians to try and wring help from them. She seemed gifted at those negotiations, and understood their views better than her master, who still could not belief why someone in a position to help would not, and instead enrich himself even more. This delegation of tasks accomplished her masters goals, and more importantly gave her a way of feeling appreciated for her talents, and the ability to linger in more worthy company.
But Even becoming a Knight was not enough. The stain the Jedi pulled with them, and their habit of apologising years and years for something that happened generations ago. She was tired of carrying that baggage, tired of being an apolegetic caretaker, whose only ambition was to help some poor farmers. Was she not destined for greatness?
Thanks to her better informed higher contacts, she caught wind of the exact opportunity to find this greatness on her own. A new Sith Order was shaping. While she had once liked the idea of becoming a noble Jedi, having to serve the needy, and bowing her head in excuse to everyone, she had had her taste of humility, and wanted her status back, back when she was influential and renown as her fathers daughter on Pantora. The distant memories, horribly misshapen by wishful thinking, seemed enticing. The Sith seemed to promise it all, faster training, stronger powers, status. All that the Jedi withheld from her, no from all of them.
She decided to turn over to the enemy, to give in to the desire of strength, but dreaming about it was harder than doing it. Years of Jedi teaching had shaped her after all, and even if she liked to imagine them as fools, many of them where still close to her. In her mind she formed a plan. In order to truly let go, she would need to sever her attachment to them, herself. In the most literal sense possible.
So one fateful day, she took her lightsaber crystal out, bent on breaking it. But it got wrong, her former master awoke when he felt her actions upstairs. What happened next is hard for Chi to understand, but it started when she heard him come up the stairs. panicked, she tried to reassemble her lightsaber hastily, cursing under the breath as the doorhandle inched downwards. When her master entered, his lightsaber in hand, Chi was filled with terror, and fear.
Her master did not act, for he was as surprised by his apprentice as she was with him, and as her sabre was completed in her hands, a certain feeling of certainty surged within her. She turned on her master, and the red glow of her sabre was the last thing he would ever see.
She fled the scene, trying to get away as fast as she could. She wants to link up with the Sith, and establish herself as part of the grander Sith Order, but doubt still clouds her decisiveness. She is determined to rid herself of these insecurities, and truly embrace the dark side, but doing that will take time

Chi Soni has inherited much from her family. She is cunning and manipulative, greatly self centred and has no hard time playing a role if it will get her what she wants. The diligence and eagerness she displayed as a student were a mere result of her personal interest in the topic, and she can hardly be motivated to tasks that she deems uninteresting. She believes herself superior by birth, something that is evident to her not only through her heritage, but also through the Force. She believes the Jedi have become an empty shell of what they ought to be, and grovel as weak caretakers, and that such work is below her. While there still remains a certain guilt over her actions, that feeling is mostly outweighed by the wish to become someone, to prove herself worthy of the powers bestowed on her.

But this personality is as much a role as many others she is playing, this time just to deceive herself. She is not as uncompromising and brutal as she would like to be, nor is she as independent. Beneath the iron shell lies a mess of insecurity and self doubt. Starting with her childhood, where her relative isolationism and detached upbringing, she had accepted that only those who accomplished were worthy of attention. Her parents merely complimented her on the feats well done, if she failed the teachers would scold her. She developed a make or break mentality, where results were most important. When she joined the Jedi she tried to deliver results in her training proving her worth, but being slowed down repeatedly and told to take her time she felt discriminated in their judgment. She had done well in her tests, yet her reward was punishment? She is trying to prove her worth, and her merit, and the surge of speed that came with the dark side, merely the difference in power once you let your darker thoughts guide you and shape you, has left her hungry for more. So on the search to gain skill and power as quickly as possible, she certainly clashed with the dark side. She is not yet lost completely, as dread over her betrayal and shock over her actions still run deep, but believes herself gone completely.
