Biography

Born on a slow haul Passenger Transport bound for Corellian where her sleazy Father was starting a new job in the Corellian Engineering Corporation. She was named after the medical droid L0-R4 by Lora’s appreciative Mother, who delivered the baby Captain in the ship's med-bay after a difficult labour. Lora spent the first few days of her life aboard the ship before spending the first few years of her life on Corellia.

She and her Mother would eventually move back to Vyndar after Lora’s father ran off with a Twi’lek barmaid. She would spend the next 10 years on Vyndar, living a fairly mundane life. She would frequently get in trouble with the authorities over petty things her and her friends would get up too. At the age of fourteen, Lora’s sense of adventure and need to get out of her mundane existence pushed her to acquire employment that’d take her off the planet. She eventually managed to get a job on a freighter unbeknownst to her Mother and effectively running away from home despite having no ill will toward her.

She saved up most of her credits for several years before buying her first ship at the age of 17, the biggest piece of junk that ever flew, the Jelly Fish. She flew it with her co-pilot and then boyfriend, Weems Candti for all of three months. She eventually was marooned on Ord Mantell to her fury, when Weems took off with the ship and all their credits while she was out gathering supplies. Taking a job in a dirty old spaceport cantina as a rather inept waitress, Lora began to save up her money again for yet another ship that could get her off world. It was at said dive cantina that she first met the unusual Mirialan, Fraya Korin who worked at the establishment as a dancing girl. The two young women became fast friends and helped each other out.

It was Fraya’s idea originally to pull a heist to get the money that Lora needed for a ship (and she herself needed in order to pay her debts and quit her job dancing). The Republic moved various products through the local spaceport before distributing it into the Outer-Rim. With a grin on her face and a cheap blaster in hand, Lora, along with Fraya, stole several crates of Republic merchandise from the spaceport and stashed it in Lora’s apartment, while Fraya took care of Lora’s savings, just in case. Unfortunately for them, the crates were filled with weapons that were heading to Mygeeto Security Forces. The Republic detachment naturally went berserk at the theft, making the recovery top priority. The Lora and Fraya meanwhile were finding it very hard to shift their unexpected prize, due to the Republic’s increased security and lack of any contacts who’d be interested.

Of course, Lora was completely unprepared when Republic Security burst through her door and arrested her for the theft. The case against her was pretty cut and dry, however being a technical minor, she was given a lenient sentence… of 15 years. Even though she was going away until she was in her early thirties, Lora chose not to rat out Fraya despite being offered a reduced sentence if she gave up her cohort.

She was sent to the Ord Mantell penal facility on the southern continent to carry out her sentence in medium security. While serving time, an old, Quarren starship mechanic by the name of Thewon Ban took a shine to the scrappy young woman, who was a similar age to his daughter. He had been locked up for accidently killing a man during a bar brawl. They would play physical Dejarik and Sabacc as a regular part of their days and becoming good friends in doing so.

Fortunately for Lora, both she and Thewon eventually shared a cell block with Whabua the Hutt, leader of the local organised crime gang. During Lora’s fourth year of incarceration, Whabua the Hutt’s men assaulted the prison and breached the cell block. During the ensuing chaos, Lora and Thewon made a break for freedom. They succeeded to steal a couple of blasters and a speeder so they could make their getaway to the spaceport.

Once there they sold the speeder for credits, they were desperate to lay low and with nowhere else to go, Lora and Thewon got in contact with Fraya who let them stay at her place. With the manhunt closing in and their options few and far between, Lora did the unthinkable… SHE came up with a plan. One that proved not to be half bad in the end.

Fraya sold most of what she had and withdrew all the credits she could, including the bits of Lora’s savings she hadn’t dipped into over the last four years. The Mirialan ran to the spaceport hangars, still wanting off Ord Mantell even after all this time, having completed her part of the plan. Meanwhile, Lora and Thewon had already been scoping out the hangars, disguised as robed and hooded Missionaries, looking for the perfect ship to steal.

It didn’t take Lora long to find the one she personally wanted, although she made some big argument as to why that ship would be the best choice. In reality, she just liked the aesthetic of it. Although it didn’t take long for Thewon to break into the ship's ramp controls, once onboard the trio found that the ship had a rather pesky control lockout. Alerted by local citizens who had seen the suspicious behaviour, Ord Mantell security arrived at the hangar, forcing Lora and Fraya to engage in a firefight with them while Thewon desperately tried to disable the lockout.

Just as things got dicey, with more reinforcements arriving for the Security personnel, Thewon disabled the lockout and started up the engines. Lora and Fraya charged back onto the ship with Lora taking the pilot's seat. The ship, and the trio, proceeded to blast their way through the security checkpoint in orbit and made the jump to lightspeed. They travelled all the way to Nar Shaddaa with the ship’s hold still filled with whatever cargo the original owners were carrying.

On the notorious moon, they resprayed the ship, picking beige as it was the cheapest, and had the ship’s transponder code changed at a hefty price. When asked by the Bith performing the code change what she wanted the new ship to called, Lora replied, “Stellar Flare” without hesitation. Using the ship's cargo as payment, Lora ordered several defensive and offensive modifications to the Stellar Flare. The ships sublight engines and hyperdrive were also given an overhaul, under Thewon's supervision, to boost the ships overall speed.

Since then, Lora and her crew have flown around as a somewhat dysfunctional family, doing all sorts of odd jobs throughout the Galaxy to pay their way to a better life. Lora became the uncontested Captain, with Fraya as her co-pilot and first mate while Thewon laid low as the ships mechanic. Hopefully they could stay one step ahead of any bounty hunters who might still be tracking them for the prices on their heads…

Personality

Lora is not what you think of when the term “Freighter Captain” is spoken. She is talkative and jocular, with a preoccupation for fast ships and seedy bars. She can be occasionally immature and rarely thinks a situation through. While she puts on the personae of a hardened, cunning freighter Captain when in business dealings, the reality couldn’t be further from the truth.

In reality Lora is a bit of a buffoon and not as bright as she makes out due to a lack of education. She’s just smart enough to realise that she’s not the sharpest vibro-blade in the storage locker but still vacuous enough that she thinks she can conceal this fact from those around her. She stands up straight, smiling the whole time and she rolls with situations to the best of her abilities. This has gotten her into trouble several times by taking jobs that are clearly to good to be true, and usually are.

The one thing she does have on her side is a seemingly endless supply of luck and a natural affinity as a pilot and gunslinger. Her most often used phrases, “I meant to do that”, or, “Trust me, I got this” are usually spoken to others with utmost confidence even as she herself is confused as to how she will pull/or just pulled that off.

Despite this, she has a way of being a little charming and can be endearing to people, especially her crew, who are loyal to a fault. She is tenacious, strong willed and will do whatever it takes to keep her crew and herself fed, clothed and cashed up. She loves the freedom and sense of adventure of her life, thinking of her ship as her home and her crew as her family.

Sorry for the long hiatus, IRL stuff. I would love to set up something. I don't know anyone on the site so that sounds real. I'm gonna send you a PM, hopefully we can set something up ^-^.

dope formatting. but some of that tech i don't think exists as canon though so you might want to select approved pieces. If i'm wrong then it is best to link the tech so people can look at it.

Oh I wasn't sure if the ship or H4-WK would need to be approved pieces, that's no issue though. I'll happily submit profiles for them if that's what's needed. The XZ-2100 was just a smuggler modified styled YT-1300 allegory and H4-WK was just a C3-P0 without a body but I'll write up some profiles and submit them ^-^.

Edit: Or new tech submissions could be closed T-T. I wasn't after anything fancy, flash or O.P., just wanted H4-WK as a cool little compact Droid and the Stellar Flare was mostly an aesthetic choice. ^-^'

This timeline takes place 1000 years before the clone wars more or less so YT-1300 aren't around yet. Everything is more basic and weaker than it is in that time period mostly.
