Few places in the galaxy were as known for their raucous entertainment, devilish delights, and obscene wealth as Canto Bight. A playground for the rich, famous, and downright dangerous, the city was home to all manner of criminals all here with different designs. It was to this pit of depravity that came the Five Syndicates, and they had a particular plan in mind.

Beneath the walls of Canto Casino was a vault so vast that its riches were scarcely countable. Fiercely guarded and monitored, anyone willing to try their hand at opening it had to be a real particular sort. And in this galaxy there were more than a few with that sort of ambition, and they'd gathered to try their luck in what could be the biggest test of their enterprising young careers. They had a plan, they had a team, it was time to put it into action.

Second on the list was their distraction. Even once they were on the floor, they couldn’t simply waltz down to the Casino’s heavily guarded lower levels, they needed to keep everyone else occupied while they did.

And so, what else, but a classic power outage stunt. And Cavalry seemed like just the person to help set that up ahead of time.

"The main transformer should be over here. It’s just plant the charge, in, and out. And no witnesses. However we accomplish that, I don’t mind" Marissa Peered around the edge of the overlook to the rear of the Casino below. They were well out of sight where they were, but patrols seemed to move back and forth constantly as they inspected the zone. They needed to be quick, quiet, and very possibly lethal to get the job done right. Marissa deferred to Cavalry on this one,

"Let’s get down there, I’ll follow your lead"

Cav normally didn’t like working with others, but a heist like this demanded more hands on deck. He hadn’t worked with the woman before, but she seemed competent enough. His reputation as a Syndicate crook almost rivaled that of his reputation as an outcast Mando.

As he looked over the casino, he couldn’t help but be giddy about the prize that awaited them. He and Marissa were out of sight for now, and the plan was to cut the power. Cav had robbed a few vaults, but he hadn’t done anything significant like this before.

When she spoke, he simply nodded and paused for a moment, “Do we know that cutting the power won’t put the vault on lockdown?” He had seen that before, and it made the job that much tougher. Cav understood the meaning of being discreet, even if that wasn’t always his first option.

He turned to regard her for a moment, “Another option is to set a fire and flush everyone out,” He pointed to his wrist which had a mounted flamethrower on it.

Cav had a point.

It was not as if Marissa expected the whole thing to go off without a hitch, but a lockdown would be awful trouble if they hadn’t accounted for it, and at this point that was still true. They still needed a distraction, and a big one at that to get the place in enough of a commotion that they could flush everyone and the guards out when the time came. A fire could do that, but the question was how to set it up,

“It would certainly cause a stir, we just need to be able to trigger it remotely to get the timing right” Marissa turned the idea over in her head. They could pull it off, she was sure, but they needed to do it with what they had,

“Detonators on the gas line instead of the power? It’d be loud, but dangerous if something went wrong. there’s no use triggering something before we need it” the risk was palpable, but it’d make for a much bigger emergency for the casino to deal with than just an outage. She liked the idea, but Marissa herself wasn’t too familiar with what it would take.

That said, Cav seemed like they would have an idea up their sleeve. With the fire idea locked in, they just needed to confirm how to pull it off. Then it was go time.

Dale hadn't robbed anything before, but he was more than happy to join in on a casino heist he had heard about through the syndicate. The women in charge of it seemed pretty competent, and the other person... well he seemed a bit too giddy to get the prize at the end. He himself was only doing it so he could buy a new ship...

Dale activated his voice scrambler, the eyes on his face mask went from blue to light orange, "How about we do both? If you have enough charges, give me on ill put it on a gas line, and you can cut the power, that's gotta be a distraction enough." Dale honestly had no idea what he was doing, he was confident in his shooting and his running, and he really needed the money.

Marissa looked over to her young companion and nodded with his words, but looking down at her pack she realised that sadly that wouldn't be the case,

"Bit of a... limited budget I'm afraid" Marissa said with a bit of a frown, a little extra damage wouldn't have gone astray, but they'd have to make do,

"Let's focus on the power, we need it out anyway to get through security doors, otherwise I don't know how we make it down to the vault" the heist would involve them making their way down an elevator shaft while the casino was busy trying to get electricity restored, she didn't have an alternative prepared. For now, they'd stick with it,

"Which means, that's our target down there" she pointed down below to a transformer at the casino's rear "let's plant the charge and get out before anyone sees, shall we?" she said coyly, before vaulting the low fence in front of them down onto the lower balcony. Scanning the ground before them she could see security patrols throughout the area. They needed to get them out of the way somehow,

"Any clever ideas?" she looked to Dale as she asked? She had to admit she was curious as to what he'd come up with.

Dale was a little disappointed by the lack of explosives, but he understood, and spreading themselves would be a bit too risky. He followed Cav down to the lower balcony, he could see the security issue now. Guards, almost everywhere he looked over to Cav, he hoped she had some sorta idea. but she deferred to him. Dale scratched his head, "I... could be bait? I can set my voice scambler to be maximum and lure them away, iv got confidence in my stamina. " The desert trained him well for a task like this

Marissa nodded along as Dale suggested using their voice scrambler. It wasn't a bad idea, and would certainly clear the way for them to get moving past them, hopefully make it through all this nice and quickly, and without any evidence they were ever there. Still, part of her worried about using the boy for bait,

"I like where you're going with this, though make sure you don't get caught. Can't be losing anyone before the big day" Marissa's voice was low as she replied, wary of giving away their position before they even got close. With the kid keeping them busy she could beeline it right there, assuming they all took it,

"In which case, we need them away from the transformer, if you can pull them around the other side and give them a slip, I'll meet you right back, deal?" her eyes were serious. This was the real deal now if this was the plan they were going to go for, and splitting up meant they wouldn't have support from eachother while they completed their respective goals. Not that she was nervous, no, never, she didn't get nervous.

Well, maybe a little bit.

But her ambition overpowered even that. She needed this heist to lift her up and out of the sad little position she found herself in, and this was the way to do it.

Nodding then to Dale, she gave him a cheeky salute before dropping down behind a set of shipping containers, and waited for his signal.

Dale looked down again at all the guards, just a little nervous, but the reward for doing this was too much to just give up. He adjusted his voice scrambler, the eyes on his mask went from a warm orange to bright green, signifying maximum volume. He jumped down and yelled "HEY! IV GOT AN EXPLOSIVE!" His voice scrambler did a great job of not only masking his voice but making it sound much louder. The yelling got their attention. He quickly ran the other way, trying to lead them away from where Marissa was, a few guards tried to grab him, but his skinny frame let him evade them, he could feel a few laser shots land behind him, and a few even almost hit him, but he kept running, trying to find a place to stop and take of his mask.

Well, that'd do the trick then, wouldn't it?

Marissa could hear Dale's call, she would be surprised if there was anyone hadn't heard really. But the sudden rally of footsteps and blaster shots she heard nearby meant that they'd taken the threat seriously, which was exactly what she needed.

Poking her head out from behind, she kept her blaster up and set to stun as she looked for any remaining guards across her intended path. So far, it seemed, so good,

"Follow whoever that is, we don't need any trouble" she could hear as another pair of guards split off from the area to give Dale chase, she herself using such things as her cue to get moving, weaving between shipping containers and behind walls as she attempted to stay out of sight, moving closer and closer to the transformer as the pack of explosives swung against her side. That little beat was a good reminder to make sure she didn't get caught, because it might not just be the plan that foes up in smoke,

"And, doesn't that look like just the spot?" she muttered to herself as she rounded a corner and laid on the transformer. Too bad then it seemed she wasn't alone.

A single guard still stood watch, apparently they weren't foolish enough to leave a place wholly undefended even in these circumstances. Still, how hard could one guard be?

So, was it smart for Preef to go out for noodles and then low-key do a stake-out of the casino? Probably not. Was it smart then that when he spotted Marissa to follow her to see if she really was capable of leading a heist of this caliber? Depends.. is it good when you're sort off close by when someone suddenly yells that they have a bomb and an entire security division goes nuts? Alright, kriff it, so Preef was karking up the "lay low until I say so" part of this damned heist.

But when the bomb threat was made he did only have one thing on his mind and that was warning Marissa. The young rodian therefore snuck after her towards the generator and in remarkable time managed to catch up to her and.. the guard. No, in fact, he should've been more careful. He bumped into a trashcan and the ruckus alerted the guard. "Hey, show yourself!" the guard said with such an authoritative voice that Preef almost did come out of hiding, stopping himself at the last second. The guard clearly thought it was all taking too long and took a step in his direction, which was the opposite direction as to where Marissa stood, thus he revealed his back to her.

The rodian quickly mulled his options. He knew he couldn't do two things: shoot a guard this close to the generation (for they'd surely investigate the surroundings and would find the bomb) and reveal himself and blow the cover identities they stole earlier. "They said there's a bomb! We should check it out!" he finally answered, but the guard wasn't having it and took another two steps in his direction. "I said come out and show yourself! Servants aren't allowed down here." It seemed like an odd conclusion to jump to at first, but then Preef realized that while he was still in cover, the trashcan had dropped and rolled into the guard's view.

Hopefully Marissa was close enough to have heard him and already done planting her own bomb so they could get out of there.

Now that was a voice she had not expected to hear in all of this. While it seemed her first ally had fled to the hills in order to get guards away, that Preef was skulking nearby wasn't all too surprising to her. She'd gotten a handle on his vibe at this point, and he was certainly one that was slipperier than one might have picked a Rodian to be, though reliable, and that was something they'd need.

With the final guard stepping away, Marissa held her breath and slipped behind the generators fencing. The machine hummed with energy, and yet still was only a piece of the machine that powered the whole Canto-wonderland. And the piece that would throw it all into chaos.

Placing the bomb was easy enough, sticking it to the underside to keep the flashing light out of sight. It'd be damn hard for anyone to find it at this point. With relief Marissa wiped the sweat from her brow, and moved back out. From behind the guards back she gave Preef the most thankful wave she had ever given, before slipping back into the shadows.

The preparation was finally done.

What came next would be the real test.

Preef caught a glimpse of a waving Marissa before she snuck away. Good job, Preef, he praised himself on saving her life from that weird bomber. The guard, however, wasn't so content with the current situation and continued his slow advance, now even taking his blaster out of the holster. "I said come out!"

Having no reason to stick around, Preef literally ran. "Can't! Gotta run for shelter! There's someone out here with a bomb!" the guard quickly advanced to where the rodian had been hiding and only heard the faint noise of falling footsteps disappearing between trash containers and loading dock cargo. "Kriff, this was so weird-" he said as he turned back towards the generator, "-at least no one got close to the generator. They'd fire me fore sure if someone had slipped through." Canto Bight wasn't known for providing fair working condition for their personnel and even if they'd managed to determine how the generator was disabled during the heist and lead that back to this specific moment, no way the guard was going to risk his livelihood by admitting he hadn't exactly been standing on his exact spot the entire time. He had to feed his family, after all.

It didn't take long for Preef to slip away entirely. The rodian was short and being a poor rodian he blended in well with the poor rodians that worked the grounds. No one suspected him or paid him extra mind.

His own mind was also preoccupied with other things. It was finally time to pull of what would undoubtedly be the greatest heist in his life.
