Can Jedi have pets?

I'm making a Jedi Sentinel.
To me, having a pet would be a natural part of living and working undercover as a Jedi on a planet for a number of years, probably keeping himself fairly separate from people in general. A pet would be a bit of company. :)
But would that be an attachment?

Not only would it be an attachment, it would also be a possession. Jedi don't usually "own" anything except for their clothes and lightsabers, and perhaps whatever gear the Order lends them, such as ships and communication devices. They don't really have pets.

Would it be OK for my Jedi sentinel I am making to have been a kind of medic during the war? He couldn't bring himself to kill a Dark Jedi, but he generally protected people from explosions/blaster bolts etc. and healed people?

Just out of interest, Yoda did keep an animal. (In a big garden).

But he apparently wasn't its owner, thus not a 'pet'...

So what if my Jedi has a nexu cub in his house that he feeds and looks after, but doesn't 'own' it?
It just hangs around him and his home, but free to go?
I'll list it under 'relationships' rather than 'pets'..?

That is also a legends article. And what you're describing is a pet in all but name, playing with technicalities IMO.

I'm currently working on a back story with @jamessour , because he asked for another sentinel to work with.
