The Teller House

Hey truth seekers!! Just a reminder, we are getting together THIS Saturday night at 10:00 PM at the Teller House. The address is in the event calendar, so hurry up and sign up! Don't forget the good wear shoes. This is an old house, and we want a safe evening! All experience levels are welcome!

Trip showed up earlier, his truck loaded with his ghost-hunting equipment. He hoped some people would show up. The group was still pretty new, and few people had started coming to these things. He hoped eventually to get a solid group of regulars, but now he would be happy for anyone to show up.

He wore his usual cargo shorts with a nerdy shirt and flannel thrown over the top. He looked down at his chrono; there were still a few minutes for people to show up; he was sure someone would come. He hoped to get some good footage for his new Spacetube channel tonight.

Trip sat on the tailgate of his truck. The street was mostly dark; a flickering street light was nearby. Most people would be scared of the scene, the old ominous house in the backdrop. It looked like it could storm, but Trip had never been scared by any of that stuff. He had grown up watching the horror classics, and when he learned he could actually explore this stuff in real life, he hadn't looked back.

Six had been on the forum and the channels for a few years and she never attended the ghost hunting missions. She always went on them on her own, freaking herself out most of the time. At some point in between ISB gigs, she decided to participate more in the community. Everyone online knew her as ParaNorma and nothing more. The server often hosted events and, while she participated in the online games sometimes, she never came out in person.

Until now.

This was as far removed from Six as possible. She wore a hoodie and tights with some heavy duty boots to survive anything. She had an EMF reader, various recording devices, a headband with an LED light because who carried flashlights these days? Six felt a little embarrassed about all this, ghost hunting an entire side of her that she didn’t talk about with anyone. Being in her line of work meant she didn’t have a consistent circle of friends to begin with.

She was the second person to show up and already regretted coming early. As someone that made an entire career out of smoothtalking, confidence and manipulation, she was hilariously unprepared for this scenario. Somehow the meeting in person part was more terrifying than the very spooky house in the backdrop. She spotted the server host sitting on his truck.

“Uh-hey,” She said a little awkwardly, giving a smile without revealing her fangs, “I’m ParaNorma….from the server,” Six gave a little wave, “You’re Trip, right?”

He was flipping through his phone, watching some vids on spacetube, when he looked up and saw the woman approaching."Hey!" he said excitedly, hopping down from his truck.

"No shit?!" he said as she introduced herself. "We see you around the server all the time, its great to have you finally come out!" he said, extending a fist for a fist bump. "Yeah, I'm Trip." he responded. "We'll give the others a couple of minutes to show up. They are constantly late, so unprofessional.." he stated seriously.

"So you been hunting long?" he asked as he pulled his backpack from the truck bed and slung it over his shoulder.

A few minutes later, two others showed up. A woman they called Spook and a younger guy they called Bolt. "What's up dudes?" he greeted the others who he was familiar with. "This is ParaNorma from the server." he introduced the newcomer. "This is Spook and Bolt." he said, pointing each out. He nudged Norma. "You stick around; you'll get a nickname too soon enough." he said.

"Alright, yall ready to go? I can review the bio if you want?" he asked. Trip carried the usual ghost hunting equipment but also a camera and tripod. He carried a flashlight and wore a head-mounted camera strapped to his head.

Six felt at ease with how friendly Trip was, though she was a tad awkward with her stiff fist bump. She had to remind herself that she actually knew these people. They had all been on the server speculating about different haunts. They had all laughed when Trip’s cat ran across his keyboard while he was in a heated debate. No one here was actually a stranger. It felt odd and comfortable at the same time. Six nodded at his question, "I uh...mostly do solo gigs," She admitted. It almost sounded cool.

“Hey Spook! Bolt!” She called with a smile at the others. She recognized them as active users on game nights.

Six had a backpack on her, and it had crucial things like her supply of snacks. She started walking with the group, glancing at the house, “So do you think he did it?” She asked Trip as they walked, “Van Teller? Think he took out the whole family?” The murder had never been solved and there was a long debate about Van Teller being actually dead vs. him being the killer.

"Oh hell no..." spook spoke up when she said she hunted alone. After a chair had fallen over, he had earned his nickname and screamed, only to find out it had been a squirrel. He was by far one of the more skittish of the group, but he came out and was generally a good dude.

"I think so!" Bolt said, nodding her head. "I am not so sure; they never found the bodies here. They found some bone fragments but never tied them to one of the missing family members." Trip admitted. He had done some "digging" on this place. They had never actually found any bodies. Nothing tied him to the family's deaths, yet many people had reported really spooky shit in the house. There were reports of screaming in the attic, crying in the basement, and figures roaming the halls at night. Trip had seen it before; rumors start, and these things take on their own life. It fascinated him. Hunting wasn't just about seeing scary stuff; it was about finding the truth for him. "Maybe we will find out tonight!" he said.

He kept his suspicions to himself; there was always the possibility the rumors were, in fact, true. He didn't want to influence them either way. "Alright, we are going to split up. Two of us will take the attic, and the others can take the basement. You're the new kid," he said, looking to Six. "You get to pick which one you want, its tradition," he said as he waited for her response.
