DESCRIPTION
The BTL-C1 Y-Wing is a light starbomber produced by Koensayr Manufacturing. The latest update to the company's venerable Y-Wing line, the first models of which having served in the Clone Wars well over a century ago. Despite its stodgy reputation, the new Y-Wing represents a significant step up in terms of performance and technology, and marks Koensayr's effort to return to the top of the heap in the light combat spacecraft arena.

Like its predecessors, the BTL-C1 is rugged and simple, meant for combat durability, reliability and ease of maintenance in the field. Retaining the same basic configuration as earlier models, the C1 is sheathed in tough alusteel hull plating, and is protected by a medium deflector screen. Top speed is 90 MGLT, 20 MGLT faster than the BTL-A4, and the ship's ordinance launcher has been doubled in capacity, capable of carrying up to 16 torpedoes or bombs. The ship is armed with the standard dual medium laser cannons, in addition to a dual light ion cannon turret.

Unlike the single-seat BTL-A4, the BTL-C1 has a crew of 2, including a pilot and a rear-facing turret gunner; in a crisis the pilot can operate the turret as well, although this can distract them from the business of flying. Bombardier duties can be assumed by either crewbeing. Of note, the BTL-C1 is the first Y-Wing design not to include a standard astromech socket; hyperspace calculations are handled by an onboard navicomputer instead.

So far, the BTL-C1 has proven a sales success for Koensayr, although the type is unlikely to develop the iconic reputation of its predecessors.

LEGALITY
Restricted. BTL-A4 Y-Wings are starbombers, and despite their obsolescence they are still subject to extra licensing requirements and increased scrutiny by authorities.
