DESCRIPTION​

The BT-X42 is a model of flamethrower which was first developed by BlasTech Industries for use by Republic troops during the Clone Wars. Designed for clearing and/or suppressing enemy fortifications, it was rightly feared by organic Separatist forces, and by rebel groups during the early years of the Galactic Empire. The weapon works by igniting a stream of conflagrine-14 fuel mixed with an oxidizer, creating a gout of flame up to 20 meters long and 1 meter wide. The weapon can produce up to 10 bursts of flame - which can reach temperatures up to 1,000 degrees centigrade - on a single canister of pre-mixed fuel and oxidizer, which attaches to the weapon underneath the barrel.

Like all flamethrowers, the BT-X42 is a brutal weapon, capable of stopping most organics in their tracks and even giving droids pause. The intense heat can't melt durasteel beams, but it can sure as the 7 hells roast flesh and scorch circuitry. Though it is used by bounty hunters, mercenaries and military personnel, those beings who choose to wield it are given a wide berth by most others.

LEGALITY​

Restricted. On most civilized planets, ownership of flame projectors such as the BT-X42 is highly regulated, requiring extensive licensing. Toting one around in public is not advised except on exceptionally lawless worlds, where being seen to carry one may intimidate beings who would otherwise give you trouble.
