DESCRIPTION​

LEGALITY​

Legal? Illegal? Restricted? Describe any nuances on the legality of your weapon to own and carry in different places around the galaxy. Pulse Wave and most Slugthrower weapons are banned in many places, just like disruptors would be in the future, whereas simple stun pistols would be legal on all but the most extremely pacifistic worlds. Portable missile launchers and such are likely illegal in much of the Core, but whipcord launchers and other non lethal devices would be considered humane and legal. Basically, what happens if you get caught by the authorities with this?

INTENT​

Why? Why did you create this? No, seriously. Weapons are judged with greater scrutiny than other tech. Guns in Star Wars go "pew pew" and burn your opponent, that's pretty much all you need to know. If you're submitting a weapon for approval, it needs to be pretty exotic or special. This will influence any ruling made on your technology, so please explain at length what your intentions are.

DESCRIPTION​

The Shriek-hawk Personal Sonic Blaster, like the larger Genosian Sonic Blaster, uses oscillators to produce a powerful blast of sonic energy, which is enveloped in the weapon's plasma-containment sphere, Upon rupture of the containment field the sphere will explode in a contained omnidirectional blast. In this case, the blast is pistol-sized, affecting a smaller area on the target.

On impact, the SPSB-01a is known for its screeching sound, similar to the Mandalorian Shirek Hawk. Something TSS Senior Weapons Tech Nalon Vas marketed for Mandalorians to remember a part of their history. The cylindrical shape has been designed like the Genosian Sonic Blaster, with a long central chamber capable of producing the blast, and a 35-shot reloadable powerpack at the rear. Reloading the weapon takes a moment, you have to pop open the gun, eject the current pack, and then slide in another.

Sonic weapons affect a larger area than a blaster bolt, with less pinpoint lethality, cause a debilitating effect over the area, and although blockable by shield, thick armor or beam, they can daze or cause a small knockback effect relative to their size. These impacts add up in a fight, causing a debilitating effect on their target, perhaps hearing, mental clarity, or other sensory loss like touch. Upon contact with armor, the weapon is likely to rupture rather than pierce the surface, the same for any soft tissue or organic matter it comes into contact with. Although the weapon can damage droids, many of the effects of the weapon are wasted, and you are better off with a blaster.

The SPSB-01a has a fixed TSS Type-1 attachment slot for things like sights or a light on the top of its barrel but comes with none as standard. We recommend a TSS-approved chemical preservative for the best weapon maintenance, sold separately.

LEGALITY​

Sonic Blasters are typically legal on most worlds. They tend to be less directly lethal than comparative regular blasters, but still harmful enough for personal defense. More pacifistic or stricter worlds will still ban carrying them or at least open carrying them on display. Races with sensitive hearing or sharper senses are more likely to consider these weapons bannable on their homeworlds.

INTENT​

There are no sonic blasters at all on the open market that can be used as a pistol-sized sidearm. They provide an alternative to a blaster, being slightly less lethal but more debilitating over time, especially to hearing and senses. This slow build-up adds tension to a long fight. Lowered range and ammo, means you can be outshot, outranged, and out damaged, while being much less effective to droids also. The trade-off is, like the Genoshan rifles, these have a small pistol-sized concussive effect and can non-lethally daze a biological opponent even when blocked.

RESTRICTIONS​

Those on the Paradigm Industries Facial Recognition Blacklist can only obtain these from a non-authorized source.

Summary​

Paradigm Industries is a multifaceted industrial corporation, owned by a diverse group of shareholders, the largest of which make up the board of twelve directors. They specialize in communications, infrastructure, logistics, and shipping, with smaller subsidiary companies that cover other interests. The current majority shareholders are the Kitras family.

The current headquarters of Paradigm is on Cantonica, with other holdings on Coruscant, Onderon, Mimban, Etti IV, Farana, and Eriadu. Paradigm is a member of the Corporate Sector Authority or CSA, with the Kitras family being substantial landowners and investors in CSA projects.

OOC Intent: A plot generator, with different interests competing within it which generates stories and threads or involves other players. It's a way to grow the Kitras and other characters' backstories. It's also a way for me to add further substance to any Senate proposals or relevant votes, and CSA dealings. Finally, it gives an umbrella to submit technology, lore, and NPCs in an organized form.

Founding History​

Twelve generations of Kitras have enjoyed success as traders and industrialists. Starting as a small freighter captain, Vulven Kitras made his legacy with patience and a trading instinct, he was also a gambler but a clever one. Vulven and eventually his son Pethror would go weeks or months and do no trades at all, plotting, planning, and martialing their resources. Then when it was time, they would use them all without hesitation on the right trade. Not everything was a perfect success, but they mitigated their risks with preparation and patience well, focusing on studying a few lucrative trade routes, rather than many smaller ones.

It wasn't until a generation later, Alra Kitras decided she would start to invest in Land, which is often a good investment, especially good land nobody wants, littered with scrap metal or leftover parts from a more turbulent era. These planets before wars scarred the galaxy had trade routes, infrastructure, and supply chains, the population and plans to rebuild were all there, it just needed people to do it. So the Kitras used their generational wealth to start rebuilding the connections between worlds, they became the glue for some worlds. Paradigm meaning a framework was born, the name intended to define a new era of industrial cooperation.

Fast forward more generations, and the galaxy is not whole but it is functioning. The later generations of Kitras have become shareholders, land owners, and investors, leaving the day-to-day operations to the younger members of the family, and the many shareholders in Paradigm Industries. Selling shares in the company has led to different parties, with different opinions making their way into decision-making roles. There is now more internal friction within the company, but it still largely maintains its mandate to link industries together and foster greater universal connection, maintaining a tidy profit of course. That said, not all is as it appears below the surface, greed is a powerful motivator for the noblest of ideals.
