There was much to be done for the Imperial presence in the Mid Rim. From Trancret space to Gromas 16 the Sith needed to have a reliable route. This meant charting a course with what they knew. Much of the area was still unknown and possibly full of enemies or other natural hazards. Space was a terrifying place with numerous dangers the likes of which the every day galactic citizen could not fathom.

Along with two other Sith, Cyzyn would accomplish the task of making sure Imperial logistics as well as routes of commerce could travel to and from the Blood Moon without issue or at least with as little hassle as possible with given conditions. It was not intentionally a combat oriented operation but the prospective Jenova was still coming along. It would be interesting to see how she handled herself when not engaging the enemy. She had a lot to learn but was also eager to do so. That he respected. The other Imperial operative the Tiss'shar had not worked with before but knew he would be involved in another mission for this endeavor so it would be good to see how he handled himself as well.

Gunner wasn't too fond of these diplomatic or rather non-combat missions; after all, he was bred to be a soldier but he supposed that as he wished to climb the ranks of the Imperial ladder, he would need to shape his preferences for something other than pure bloodshed. Assigned to provide protection detail, he slowly ventured onto the deck of the scout vessel the three of them were on. Clad in an ebony durasteel armor, his signature devastator rifle was slung over his back while a carbine side-arm was at his right hip. Fidgeting with his gloves, he moved towards the coordinates map and observed the surveillance footage that other scouts had delivered to them prior to their departure. A smirk came to his face, shifting his attention towards teh Tiss'shar, "So, what's your grand plan here? We going to explore each of these system paths or do you have a few selected ones in mind?"

Though technically sightless, Jenova stood stoically by the observation port, her gaze absently transfixed by the passing stars; she had been standing there for some time now, her arms folded whilst her back stayed straight. One could only imagine the abyss she was staring into. The depths of space were enticingly vast, there was no telling what wonders lurked within the wilds of its frontier. Perhaps that's what Jenova sought to find out. Every so often - as Cyzyn would no doubt sense - a ripple would resonate throughout of the force; like a wave, it washed outwards, into the darkness of the surrounding vacuum. Was she merely exercise her reach? Testing its limitations? Or perhaps she was merely readying herself for the eventual meeting that was to come. Let it never be said Jenova waited with idle hands; recent events had led to a string of developments for the green skinned Sith. Quickly, she was realising that if she wanted to further herself, further the Empire, then she had to be adaptable. Moreover, she had to be skilled. She needed to become an asset, and as such, she began investing herself thoroughly into Imperial affairs. Sadly, wars were never a constant promise; in order to be useful, Jenova had to be a Sith with multiple facets. Missions, such as this, were essential in that transformation.

Yet again, Jenova found herself in Cyzyn's company. The reptilian's scaly visage was abundantly familiar now, as was his remarkable sangfroid and aura. However, there was another familiar presence, one whom Jenova had yet to judge. Gunny, the lieutenant. Perhaps this time together would give her more insight.

So, when the human spoke, Jenova cantered her head, just enough so that she too could listen in to the conversation. Even she was curious as to their next course of action. The hybrid certainly didn't like being kept in the dark.

The group road in a Yalub STS-5 exploratory vessel for this mission. It was spacious enough but was not the same high class ship as his normal Farsight ship. However the Pale Harvest was in need of repairs and so it was not available for this mission. It would have been better but the Tiss'shar was comfortable with the present ship. It would also attract less attention as it was than the higher end Pale Harvest.

"There is already an unofficial route to the Gromas system. However it is believed to be plagued with corsairs. There is another path, one that is fraught with its own perils and natural disturbances. We will be going to that latter and map out the appropriate areas for the safe travel of our logistics." He said in response to the Lieutenant's question. "Once we map these areas another team will install buoys for ease of hyper space transition."

They could have their military might take the route that was already known. However to make it safe to traverse they would neeed to divert significant military forces to either take out the numerous warbands of brigands and privateers which is something that Cyzyn-Itza-Rus wished to avoid. There was a better path that required some risk of its own but would prove fruitful if successful.

There were more dangers in this stretch of space than many would realise and this would now become apparent to Cyzyn and his allies as the void was suddenly not as empty as it had been previously. Having been hiding their electronic signatures as best they could, a trio of R-70 Dalyrakes came flying onto the scene.

The lead ship broadcast a message to the Sith.

"Sith vessel!" came the garbled message, "You have ten seconds to heave to and prepare to be boarded!"

The weapons systems on all three Dalyrakes came alive, something that would show up on sensors, as they prepared to assault the Sith.

"Or we will blow you into the void!"

The Yalub was equiped for combat to some extent. With a simple wave of his hand he informed the others to take their battle stations. The turret was primed and ready, rotating to prepare to compensate for the fighters that were getting closer. Cyzyn on the other hand sat in the pilot's chair. He reached out into the force and tried focusing on the one that was speaking. Most likely it was the lead ship since that was how corsairs tended to operate. This helped him narrow it down a bit.

Using all of his will power in the time provided he flooded the lead pilot with thoughts of betrayal. He could have tried to make him do a simple trick like stand down, or something. But knowing pirates again, they would still want some sort of violence. No, Cyzyn wanted them to turn on one another. The idea of betrayal would likely imbed itself and the lead pilot, whether it was the leader or not, would turn on his fellow pilots. In turn this would give Cyzyn the chance to have his own crew open fire at the earliest oportunity.

The lead pilot would be susceptible to the Sith pushing thoughts of treachery into his mind but there was something of a problem with that - as the lead ship, the leader would need to pull back in order to betray his allies but the idea of a betrayal was to make sure that you survived the act itself.

So he waited until the other two ships had committed to firing on the Sith, both of the ships firing off bursts of three blasts each from their guns, before cutting his engines and opening fire on the one on his left first.

The Sith would need to deal with the attack from two of the ships first but once they had done that they would be happy to know that one of the enemies had been blown up via treachery.

Cyzyn felt the shock of several hits strike glancing blows on his ship. Thankfully he was aimed directly at the enemy attackers and had a slimer profile than if he had actually evaded and given the pirates a profile. They needed to follow him or point directly at him with their ships to get a good bead on him but his autoblaster could fire in three hundred and sixty directions giving him more options. "Divert shields forward, when I give the signal switch to our port." He commanded his droid subordinate who gave a simple bleep response.

All the while he continued the hail of autoblaster fire that were more likely the to hit the two lead wing men before the wingleader in the back. The shield optimization would buy him some time. He dipped and dove, spun the ship to try and time it with possible incoming bolts before yanking hard on the controls to send his ship to the right. "Now!" he commanded simultaneously. This would make any further strikes that landed against his ship be neutralized by the adjusted shield instead of remaining optimized on his front where no enemies were after the turn

Cyzyn and the wingleader's attacks devastated the wingmen easily enough and the leader found himself suddenly needing to fight a strong ship by his lonesome. Even as he attacked he took a blast to one of his ships wings, breaking the wing off entirely. The leader screamed as his ship slammed into the front of Cyzyn's own ship, exploding on impact, with both the fighter not actually managing to damage the ship at all due to the reinforced shielding.

Unfortunately for Cyzyn there was still one more enemy in the area.

A Triskele patrol craft came flying in from the left, blaster cannons ready for firing on Cyzyn's exposed flank, but holding off until they had the perfect targeting solutions. The fighters had been a ruse to divert his attention and now he would be facing a stronger crsft from the side while he was temporarily blinded by the explosion caused by the crash of the last remaining fighter.

Saw the two contacts blink out on his console before the wing leader did. The wing leader stayed active but had been on a crash course with his ship but his perpendicular and evasive maneuvers made the pirate's ship pass through the path his ship had been moments ago before exploding a safe distance behind him. The explosion from the starfighter would halt any line of sight between the Sith's scout vessel and triskele. Cyzyn's ship accelerated to max speed as he gave the order to set shields to maximize towards the back of the ship where the approaching patrol craft was coming from. Meanwhile he had the droid plug in the coordinates for their next jump to a safe location deeper along the trade route they were establishing. He did not want to end up in the middle of an asteroid field. The moment the Triskele would become visible the laser cannon turret would be able to fire on the tailing triskele but not before. The front of the ship had no shields for the time being but that was fine since there was nothing in front of the scout ship save for open space.

The Triskele might very well have to contend with the explosion blocking it's view but the explosion was over almost instantly and did nothing to stop the sensors aboard the ship working just fine. As the targeting solutions weren't done by eye alone, the pursuing ship was still able to keep track of it's prey without issue.

The pirates fired all weapons as they flew after Cyzyn, using the ion cannon to weaken the shielding of the ship even as the lasers would further damage both the shields and the physical element of the engines themselves.

They knew well enough that their enemy would be attempting a jump to hyperspace and the plan was to stop them from making the jump at all by damaging the engines.

The moment the Triskele had opened fired it alerted Cyzyn's ship of its location which returned fire in its own right. The distance between the two was still significant at this point since the Triskele had arrived far enough away to avoid detection. It was at both of their ranges. One of the cannons struck the maximized shields wreaking. Cyzyn would be making evasive maneuvers as shots filled the air around the ship. He focused his mind on avoiding fire and anticipating the danger grid around him going into an open pocket of space only for it to be filled with a laser shot a moment later in time for him to get out of harms way. The triskele in pursuit would be faced with taking the full force of his own craft's weapons system if it chose to not evade. Cyzyn did not have to focus on firing or navigating, only evading the shots of the enemies.

At the same time he once again reached out in the force, knowing full well he would likely be greatly tired from what he was about to do. The Tiss'shar pushed into the mind of one of the pilots of the Triskele. It was a ship his family made an he knew it took at least two people to navigate effectively even if one was a droid. He pushed into the mind with as much focus as he could muster while not being stuck by further weapon fire. In his attempt he summoned an illusion that there was a nightmarish creature and filled at least one of the organic pilot's mind with dread hoping that they would be too fearful of what they believed to be inside the hull of their own ship and stop giving chase to his own ship.

There was only one pilot in the Triskele, there being an astromech in charge of the controls for the hyperspace jumps. The pilot wasn't stupid - he had sent the fighters in first and the main reason he had sent the fighters in first was to see who was piloting the ship he was now pursuing. The sudden madness that had come over the wing-leader of the fighters had confirmed it for him - he was battling a Sith.

But unlike the fighter pilots, he knew this and he had been around long enough to have fought exiles at the tail end of the Hundred Years Darkness and he knew some of their limitations.

For example, even the best Sith needed a connection of some kind - most required line of sight but even the most powerful required there to be limited distance between the user and the target. By engaging at the very edge of the accuracy of his blasters (roughly 500m) and matching the enemy's ship, he was actually out of range for the Sith to mess with his mind.

He kept on the Sith ship, blasting away with blaster cannons and ion cannon at the same time, shredding the last of the enemy's light shielding and exposing them to the new fire. As for the autoblaster fire? The pilot didn't need to evade to the sides at all - he just starts spinning. The front-facing profile of the Triskele was already rather small so all it had to do to avoid the automated fire was to swing itself even as it continued ever onward.

He continued to fire all three of his weapons at the rear of the escaping ship - the blaster cannons would simply outright damage it but the ion cannon would play havok with the systems and make a jump to hyperspace impossible if it hit. The enemy was going to need to take a risk, most likely.

While Cyzyn's efforts were in vain he would not be able to influence the mind of the attacker. The Tiss'shar continued to dodge attacks, feeling a single laser score a hit along his hull despite his attempts at evasive manuevers before he activated the hyperdrive once his droid gave the signal. The stars stretched before The Pale Harvest and the remaining shots of the pursuing vessel would hit nothing but the inking blackness of space as the farsight scout ship avoided further damage. Cyzyn's clawed hands continued to hold the controls for a moment, the following silence was deafening. The rest of the crew did not say anything. Once again death had eluded Cyzyn-Itza-Rus.
