DESCRIPTION
The Blackfin-class blastboat is a heavy attack ship produced by Sienar Fleet Systems. Originally developed for an Inquisitorious contract, the design was rejected in favor of an advanced TIE variant, and the project was shelved until shortly after the death of the Emperor. As the Galactic Civil War came to a close, the Blackfin was offered to New Republic law enforcement, but was again rejected, at which point Sienar placed the design on the open market.The Blackfin-class blastboat is an imposing craft, 25 meters in height with a slender, blade-like profile. The ship is heavily armed, boasting 6 medium laser cannons placed in triplex outrigger mounts. There is also a medium ion cannon, useful for disabling fleeing vessels, as well as a dual-tube torpedo launchers equipped with 8 torpedoes. For anti-personnel work, 2 dual heavy blaster turrets can be deployed from the sides. The Blackfin can be operated by a single crewbeing, although 2 are preferred; there is also space for 3 passengers, with restraint systems and isolation cells provided for up to 2 prisoners. In the event of an emergency, the ship's cockpit, which is offset from the fuselage, can be jettisoned as an escape pod with a 5-being capacity. The craft's top speed is 70 MGLT with average maneuverability, no match for a dedicated starfighter but more than adequate against light freighters and even small capital ships.
The Blackfin-class blastboat is a menacing, hard-hitting design, and has been a hit with mercenaries, bounty hunters and even legitimate law enforcement and military customers.
