DESCRIPTION
Binary Auto-Servitors are among the oldest, most basic models of recognizably humanoid droid still in production. With their origins buried somewhere in the mists of Galactic history, the type is related to the even more basic binary loadlifter, and was created primarily to perform menial tasks such as shifting heavy objects, although it can also perform some other functions that more specialized droids are not readily equipped for.

Binary Auto-Servitors are humanoid in form, usually standing about 2.5 meters tall. Though equipped with legs, Auto-Servitors generally do not have knee joints, instead telescoping their legs in order to raise or lower themselves, down to a height of about 1.5 meters; they are also jointed at the waist, able to bend forward and backward or swivel around. The droid's powerful arms are tipped with claw-like 3-fingered manipulators, making them clumsy with small tools and controls, although units not subjected to regular memory wipes can develop the fine servo skills necessary to manipulate such objects. As their legs do not bend except at the hips, Auto-Servitors locomote using a set of tracks on their feet.

Auto-Servitors have a number of features unexpected on a simple labor droid, including a retractable computer interface probe which extends on a 3 meter long cable, a reader socket for datacards, magnetic grippers in their tracks for operating in zero G, and a pair of power sockets for powering and/or recharging external equipment, driven by the droid's internal fusion generator. Auto-Servitors are also built to be extremely reliable and durable, with hulls composed of heavy duranium meant to protect them from impacts; these droids can take a great deal of punishment in any situation, and are incredibly physically strong, though of course they do not possess any integral weapons or default combat programming. Finally, while Auto-Servitors are not necessarily as dumb as they seem, they do tend to work a bit slowly. They are not generally equipped with vocabulators, and communicate in their own language related to binary.

LEGALITY
Legal. Binary Auto-Servitors are permitted in most regions of the Galaxy.
