Site lore

The Beskad be Mand’alor, translated to Basic as the Sword of Mandalore, is the name of the weapon carried by Mand’alor the First and has been passed down the generations between every Mand’alor since its creation. For the past several millennia, however, it has been deemed lost, nothing more than the rumor among the remaining tribes of a relic that once held great prestige among the Mandalorian people.

Description

The Beskad be Mand’alor was forged by the finest weaponsmiths of the original Mandalorians for the first sole ruler of the Mandalorian people – Mand’alor the First. Since that day, it has seen scores of planets razed, conquered, and brutalized in the worship of the Mandalorian pantheon during the numerous crusades. Soaked in the blood of thousands slain personally by every Mand’alor that has wielded it, it is a weapon of symbolic and religious importance to the Mandalorian people.

However, much like Mand’alor’s mask, it is thought to be lost to time forever. Rumors abound as to where it may be hidden, from anywhere to the vastly ancient tomb of Darth Leviticus once he claimed control of the Mandalorian people himself, to the highest mountains of Mandalore. There is no shortage of rumors and myths regarding where this ancient relic may be hidden, and many have gone on lifelong pilgrimages just to find it. One thing is for certain, though: whoever bears the Sword of Mandalore will instantly be afforded a certain degree of respect from both superiors and subordinates alike when around Mandalorians. Should a non-Mandalorian somehow possess it, Mandalorians are honor-bound to reclaim it for their people, violently or otherwise.

The weapon itself is nothing inherently special; it is a finely-wrought beskad with ceremonial filigree in the blade and hilt, giving it a distinct appearance. When one wields it, a certain power and authority seems to fill their bodies as the realization that the only people who have held the weapon were the sole rulers of the Mandalorian clans. The sword itself, of course, has no special inherent qualities.
