Castle Serenno

House Serenno had not come out of the conflicts of the past century with their reputation intact, a lot of shame had been brought to the house by the involvement of one of their own in the machinations of Palpatine, and the house had been working ever since to try and improve their image, taking steps to slowly but steadily recover. One of the rulers had come up with the concept of the Beggar's Feast, and though many in the upper echelons of Serenno's society abhorred the concept, it was such a public relations success that it had prevailed to this day.

The concept was a simple one, and Zarine couldn't help but admit the genius behind it. Every time the castle hosted a gathering of sufficient importance, they also hosted a feast for the homeless and beggars of the city, serving them the same food and drinks that was being served to the other guests. Of course the two parties were segregated, and no noble was forced to mingle with the beggars if they did not wish to, the Count who had started the tradition had been smart enough to realize forcing his nobles to sit at the table with beggars might be expecting a little too much of them. The tradition had caught on, and now many nobles held such feasts across the planet.

Today though was special, it was the annual freedom say celebration, and the gathering at Castle Serenno was of particular splendor, with a beggar's feast to match. This one she could not send one of her little birds to. No, this one she had to attend on her own. Dressed in her patched and worn out clothes, covered by the dirty cloak that had been her loyal companion for years, Zarine walked through the beggar's feast, keeping an eye at the adjacent room where the main ball was taking place. Every now and then a few nobles would wander into this side of the ball, some out of curiosity, eager to learn about the homeless of their world, others out of genuine compassion, and some out of contempt.

She kept an eye out for one and all, her ears open, picking up every scarp of information that she could.

"Sing for me," she whispered under her breath with a smile on her face as she walked away from a young noble couple, having taken a mental note of some usefull bits of information, "sing for me my little birds."

Jacob came here to watch over the Feast and keep the peace, and to learn about the planet's culture. His day mostly consisted of going through the streets, particularly near where the nobles would come in, and watch over both parties. While he knew most nobles had guards and other forms of protection, he figured the same wasn't true for the beggars and others in positions of lower privilege. This was also a good place to learn some recipes for the next time he was asked to cook. He would often take notes whenever he heard something was "delicious" and ask what it was.

While it almost seemed like he was on vacation, he was constantly on guard. He was careful to keep his saber hidden and keep moving constantly. This wasn't his first time hiding in plain sight among a crowd, in fact he was rather accustomed to it. While he was determined not to use his saber if conflict occurred, hoping to be able to end any sort of squabble between the two classes with words rather than action, he knew he would be foolish not to keep it on hand. However conflict wasn't the only thing he was looking for as he patrolled the streets. He was not only a warrior of peace but a healer. He kept an eye out for those who were in need of medical attention, though his skills in that regard were pretty minor.

After some time of walking he found himself standing in front of one of the tables taking extensive notes on one of the roasts and a few vegetables made from local plant life. "I'll have to go shopping after I am done here." he muttered to himself. He would find himself standing there for some time as he inquired around about the recipes, and some things that could be substituted for those with a lower budget.

The story of Serenno’s noble houses had long been intertwined with that of many organizations of force users, even beyond the actions of the errant Count Duku into the mythic past if the stories were to be believed. And at the very least the nobles were know to posses quite extensive personal libraries, some even collecting artifacts of days gone by, and it was this that first interested Tsavo in coming to the planet. But sadly the title of Jedi did not guarantee a meeting with a noble house these days. And so when word had reached him of the Beggar’s Feast and the chance to ‘accidentally’ bump into a noble it was far too good of an opportunity to pass up.

So far he had not succeeded in cornering any and getting them talking about their collections.

The people of Serenno massed and swarmed about the tables covered in quality food, huddling in close around the musicians and other entertainers as they celebrated. It was loud, and not just physically. All living beings were connected to and influenced the force and their passions and emotions charged it with what they were feeling. And thousands of beings gathered at a social event and parking in the joy of the festivities made for quite a lot of energy being put out. Tsavo slowly walked through the milling crowd, leaning on his wooden staff as he felt the joy of the beings around him. He had left his vibrosword in his lodgings, trusting in the force and Serenno’s authorities to keep things from getting out of hand. Though he had his stun pistol holstered under his robes just in case.

As he walked the edges of the crowd nearest the main hall where the nobles feasted, waiting for one to step out to mingle with the common crowd, he felt a presence. A life stronger in the force and holding itself away from the crowd, watching instead of participating. His eyes followed that sensation and his gaze fell upon a young man eyeing the food on one of the tables. Though he did not know this man’s name but could recall seeing him around the Jedi temple a time or two, and considering his connection to the force Tsavo felt it safe to assume that he had bumped into another Jedi.

He raised his hand to get the man’s attention through the crowd, following physical action with the force by sending out a small amount of energy as if to say ‘hey’.

But as he waved something else caught his attention, a buzz in the force just barely noticeable above the noise of the crowd. Though not having been focused so much on his surroundings at the moment he almost missed it. Letting the force guide him his eyes were drawn to a pair of nobles. Not wanting to let this opportunity and gift from the force pass him by he turned to approach them, nearly bumping into a young woman in worn clothing and a tattered cloak in his haste.

“Pardon me, miss.” He said, placing a hand on her shoulder as he passed “I didn’t mean any insult or inconvenience.” All of his attention was still on the pair of nobles and did not sense this woman’s connection to the force, but to simply push past would be rude and being civil was more important that shmoosing up to some nobles.
