DESCRIPTION
The Battle Hydra-class Cruiser is a state of the art design that stands at 600 meters long and boasts a minimum crew of 800 gunners, engineers, and helmsmen. It's design allows for 12 starfighters and 6 shuttles to be stored in a hangar behind the bridge and between the triple medium turbolaser turrets. This design is an important backbone in the first wave of brand new vessels for the Free World's Alliance, as, along with the Nexu-class Corvette and the Cooha-class Frigate, the three formally introduce the galaxy to the quality of Rattatak's shipyards. These three designs are primarily used as a great all rounder type vessel, able to fill many roles in the navy while not truly being exceptional at any but how flexible it is. The diversity of uses of the craft is very similar to the diversity of the FWA, so many higher ranking admirals and even some higher ranking shipyard workers encourage the captains to make the craft their own so each looks unique. Many of these captain already have unique paint jobs on their vessels already, with many others modifying the base coloration, though the stock coloration is a primary of a deep blue, a secondary of dark grey, and a tertiary of orange.
Their hulls are built strong, able to withstand not an inconsiderable amount of damage before going down. And with their deflector shielding they see rather tough customers for any opponent. They are somewhat expensive for their size, as they still are in the early stage of their product life cycle where R&D costs, prototyping, and other beginning of the line costs are still felt. But all of that has resulted in a rather solid frigate, which comes prepackaged with a decent amount of automation and can be turned into a rather effective weapon depending on who is at the helm.
Several design aspects have been implemented in order to make the craft quite reliable, easy to repair, and maneuverable. The armor of the ship is designed in panels so it can be repaired faster than the average starship. The outer hull armor can be removed and replaced with another hull piece, so the craft can go on while the piece itself is repaired. Six stabilizer fins on each side of the rear rear the craft as well as small, internally mounted stabilizer thrusters have been installed into the craft so it can be agile in combat while also quick to come to a firing vector when required. All of this, combined with the compartmentalized life support systems, ensure a modular ship that can easily have parts swapped out and repaired.
LEGALITY
Restricted. Battle Hydra-class cruisers are classified as capital ships under Galactic law, and possess heavy weapons. As such, civilian owners will require extra licensing to operate one legally, and will receive increased scrutiny by authorities. Even then, they are ridiculously expensive to operate; only a relatively large faction or particularly wealthy government would be able to afford it without swiftly bankrupting themselves. An individual would stand no chance. Even then, the only legal owners are the FWA defensive fleets.INTENT
To create a state of the art cruiser for the FWA defensive fleets.RESTRICTIONS
Battle Hydra-class cruisers are large capital ships with heavy weapons, and capital ships cannot be owned or operated by individual characters. A faction would be required to obtain and crew a ship of this size. Even then, the FWA is the only faction able to legally acquire them.
