1) The Sith will canonically win this fight, so keep this in mind while posting.
2) No attempts at super destruction, such as the Holdo Slash, will be permitted.
3) For the purposes of this battle, characters belonging to a faction may use any class of ship possessed by that faction for the duration of this battle only. This means that a level one Sith may, for the purposes of this battle only and never outside of this thread, command a Sith frigate or corvette.
4) The limit for the above rule is that no character may control a ship beyond frigate class - all such ships shall be NPC'd if present at all.
5) Characters from factions other than the main two in this battle, will not be able to use any ship that they do not personally own.
6) If arguments start, please attempt to resolve quickly as this is meant to serve as a suitably grand final battle for this TL.
7) This battle is for ships of corvette and gunship classes only.
8) Have fun.

Vincent Deryck didn't know how it had come to this but he did know that this would likely be the end of him here and now, politically speaking at least. The Jedi Order had appeared above Coruscant with their entire battle fleet, ready to engage with their mortal enemies in the void above the capital of the Republic.

Had he a fleet large enough at his disposal, Vincent would have taken the fight to the Jedi himself for daring to show up here, of all places, and hover so menacingly above the capital he had pledged to protect. As it stood, he had the Coruscant Defence Fleet but that was, as the name implied, surrounding the planet itself to make sure that the Jedi weren't able to launch an assault.

Or at least slow down any Jedi assault.

Certainly, the Jedi claimed to be here in the name of peace and they asked and they begged for the Republic to stand beside them against the might of the Sith Empire but Vincent wasn't going to do it.

Not only did he still not fully trust the Jedi but he knew the power of the Sith Empire - he knew that theirs was a power to be feared and obeyed.

But without the forces to strike back, or make any real moves, the Republic had had to go another route entirely and call on their 'allies' in the Sith Empire. They had done exactly what the Jedi had wanted and they had called for the Sith Empire to join the Jedi in waging battle above their most important planet - albeit the Republic would not be joining them in this venture so it wasn't the result the Jedi craved in truth.

If he wasn't forced to resign after this, Vincent would retire - he couldn't take the weight of this role any longer. He stepped forward to address the people of the Republic and the fleet of the Jedi above them as the Sith approached, appearing in the system as he spoke.

"People of the Republic... friends in the Sith Empire... and the Jedi Order, floating above our heads." he spoke from his seated position behind his desk, "I speak to you now as a man who wishes he didn't have to make this address. As a man who would much rather be celebrating our victory over the Cartel with the rest of you. Much rather be welcoming our boys home from far away battlefields."

His frown became more pronounced.

"Today I sit before you as a man who must announce, again, that we are the victims of an attack by enemies of the state." he gestured upwards, "Even as I speak, the Jedi Order holds their positions above the planet of Coruscant and demands that the Sith Empire face them in battle. They claim to not wish to hold the planet to ransom - while floating above me right now is enough armaments to level most of Coruscant should we object. So I say this to our allies and friends within the Sith Empire..."

Vincent's eyes narrowed.

"Your enemies are all arrayed before you here and we beseech you to fight the fight you have courted for so long and win the war that you have been so invested in for so long. End the madness of war and death and be victorious. For the sake of freedom loving sentients Galaxy wide... Force give you speed."

And may the Force be merciful on him for the lies he had told, the deaths he was causing, to continue to hold onto the fragile peace and stability of his government.

"Alright everyone - wake up, it's show time!"

Captain of the "Agile Fleet" of Jedi Corvettes and Gunships, Luckard Duceal, paced back and forth in front of his captain's chair aboard his corvette. His crew looked nervous and, looking at the vast number of Sith corvettes and gunships, he couldn't blame them.

"They have the numbers, they have the experience." he admitted over the coms, "But we? We have the Force on our side and righteousness in our cause! So damn their numbers, damn their strengths and damn the Dark Side to any Hellscape that will take them - Agile Fleet, let's tear them apart!"

He clapped his hands and forced himself to sit down, still visibly tense.

"Once more into the breach dear friends, once more!"

"Sith Agile Fleet, form up!"

The order was barked by a severe looking captain who held his hands behind his back as he stood firmly in the middle of his deck. His back was stiff, his chest puffed out, and he was ready to engage in glorious battle. This was the entirety of the Sith Fleet and that meant that the corvettes and gunships he held overall command over were both more numerous than their Jedi counterparts but also hungrier for victory he would wager.

"The Jedi stand between us and total victory." he declared, pausing dramatically for effect before grinning, "It's past time we changed that."

He tapped his com link.

"All forces - advance and start picking targets - then hammer away."

This was a battle between the Sith Empire and the Jedi, a battle that would probably be remembered in the future as a last effort from the heroic jedi to defeat the villanous Sith Empire that had the Republic under its heel, a battle between good and evil, heroes and villains, a battle where people would be remembered for their efforts, but the Trandoshan doubted anyone would remember a Hutt Cartel trio going in and trying to take down as many of the imperial dogs as possible. Preyt Jhess and his two partners weren't here to play heroes, they weren't here to help the jedi, who the Trandoshan thought of as pansies that didn't like using the cool dark side tricks the sith did, they were here to blow shit up and make the Sith empire pay for helping the Republic take over Alderaan, for the lizard man, it was more than personal now, and after all, the enemy of my enemy, is my friend.

So, the classic Hutt duo and their mercenary partner in crime finally arrived with their signature ship, an Enforcer Gunship called "The Merciless Hunter", arriving near the jedi forces, Preyt opened comms in order to contact them "Hey, we are Preyt Jhesss and Darren Reed, dunno if you have heard about usss, but we want to help, don't blow usss up if you want to sssee thossse ssshipsss gone, all right? Cool? Cool" He simply stated without giving them much time to respond, after that, he would close comms with the jedi and open them with the Sith "Sssith ssscum, you know who we are? We did quite a number on your republic puppetsss on the battle for Alderaan, you probably remember that, right? The point isss, we don't give a crap about your little war with the jedi, but after ya backssstabbed usss like that, we are makin' KRIFFING sssure to make you guysss sssuffer during thisss battle, prepare to get blown up, ya backssstabbin´, broodinglookin', robewearin', painlovin', karking sssonsss of a gamorrean prossstitute, piecesss of ssshit!" He shouted with enough strength to probably make their ears ring before closing the communications, after that, the Trandoshan got into position, he was, once again, in charge of all the weapons, save for the missile launchers "Get ready to blow ssshit up Ved, you are going to have a blassst usssing that baby, you'll love it!" He shouted at the mercenary(@Real_Russian) with a smile on his face, looking at his best friend, Darren(@Nor'baal)shortly after "You know, if you ever make a sssequel to that bloody book of yoursss, you ssshould really talk about thisss fight, about how we came here all heroic and crap to help the poor jedi ssstand up againssst the evil sssith and all that" He added, letting out a chuckle before concentrating on the fight ahead, the ships now almost close enough to start the fight

It was showtime now.

Ved ought to admit, the adventure with Preyt and Darren would be his the greatest one for the last ten years of his mercenary life, although it was his second visit on Coruscant. The planet where he had metSkar-Lo-Rex, a really nice Tiss'shar trader. But after a dozen little and not interesting contracts before, this was a relief. Probably a challenge for his skills and wit. Moreover, Lyuban couldn't resist not accepting Trandoshan offering knowing they're quite venturesome guys who always have well-paid jobs and hence excellent in making credits. Just like Ved back in his young days. Hutt Cartel is yet another positive option for Ved to accept the offer and who knows, maybe one day the man could turn on the Hutt Cartel side because it's always good to have a roof above your head. And a company of badass and crazy guys ready to offer a crazy job.

"You have a good taste, Preyt, damn good. Will do my best for sure!" Walking in the direction of the Missile Port pronounced Ved. He was quite silent during the trip to Coruscant and usually has been asking about the upcoming mission alongside with his role in the battle. He was really excited to get such a devastating weapon, but because Ved was in his armor, his face was covered with the helm. Only his tone could say, that the mercenary is ready for the big game. At the end of the day, during his mercenary life, Sith was the reason for his some failed contracts. Of course, the Vise-Versa-Jedi's didn't give him a single credit for troubles, hence Ved was about to collect some debts. With the missiles. Holy, righteous missiles which will burn Sith washtubs to the ashes together with Sith. "On your command, captain Preyt!"

Upon the speech, Ved approached the targeting panel of the port and patiently started to wait for a signal to strike, hoped that the strike will be painful for the fleet on the opposite side of the Coruscant skies.

This is that last time I leave Preyt in charge of the fee negotiation, Darren Reed chuckled to himself, as he recalled the discussion in which his scaly friend had informed him that this would be 'Pro Bono'. Maybe they did have a good side after all?

"Sssith ssscum, you know who we are? Preyt began in his typically understated tones as he gave the Sith a damn good smack talking, Darren lowing the volumes on his own headphones just to make sure the Lizards shouting didn't affect him as well. "Hey, some of the sequal might actually be true this time round, buddy." Darren retorted, as he leaned a bit closer to Preyt and whispered "You've told this geezer we 'ain't got the coin to make this worth his while?"

Preyts silence said more than was needed.

Darren shrugged and shouted back to Ved, "You're doing great mate!" and gave the man a smile, and a big thumbs up "Let's give 'em hell!" he shouted, smashing the controls, and hammering the gunship to attack speed.

Party-time.

Dwight Antilles was in the bridge of the of a Neptune Class Corvette the Tempest. The Junior Moff was standing close to the ship's captain in dumbfoundment of that little speech on the open channels. The speech from the Trandoshan seemed reptilian, but Dwight thought the guy on the other end of the channel had some sort of speech problem. The last part before the channel was closed was annoying on the ears though. After that, Dwight, after unplugging his ears, turned to the captain with a dumbfounded and confused expression. "So, who are they?" Dwight then shrugged his shoulders. The Tempest's captain then explained them that they might be with the Hutt Cartel going by the Trandoshan's words. "Oooohh." That makes more sense. Dwight didn't really care that his homeworld Alderaan was liberated. The Sith people who helped the Republic did a number on the Cartel. Although he did get a sense of satisfaction that his distant cousin Queen Lucille is dead. Payback is a real bitch.

The ex-Senator of Alderaan did appeal to the higher ups in the Sith to be granted command of his own capital class vessel, just for this one fight. But it was denied since he really doesn't have any navy or combat experience what-so-ever. He was granted an observer position on the bridge however. The Tempest has someone in charge who is actually qualified for that.

The Tempest's turbolaser cannons are charged and ready to fire at the enemy. The auto-blasters are ready to go as well. Shields are at full strength, the enemy is in sight. Dwight would normally never be on the front lines, but with the numbers the Sith are bringing against the Jedi he is expecting this to be easy and when they win they can go home a job well done.

Dwight would almost feel bad for those Jedi. Almost. He also thinks it's funny that the former Admiral now Chancellor Vincent was voted in for being willing to have a more hard-line stance towards the Sith, but now reduced to asking them for help against... whatever the Jedi are doing. Perhaps if people of the Republic voted for Chaz Pancake none of this would be happening. #JusticeForPancake

As the heavier capital ships moved to start fighting each other, the smaller corvettes and gunships partially advanced, partially moved into position to cover the weak points of their larger companions, and partially hung back as if waiting something. Even with these forces focused on different tasks, the combat forces of the two sides were evenly matched as lasers shot through the vacuum of space at their intended targets. The first few salvos from each side had taken a good toll on the shields of their targeted craft, which on the Sith side when coordinated with the frigates caused as much damage as the full force of the Jedi on their end. It was easy to see that unless something changed, the fight could turn to a stalemate and thus a battle of attrition between the two forces.

Then the Will of the Empress arrived, the corvettes and gunships that had stayed behind the main formation falling into place to protect the vulnerable spots of the Star Destroyer. It was almost as if this series of events was part of a greater tactical ploy on the part of the Sith, like someone had foreseen the possibility of this kind of battle and had prepared a series of maneuvers just for this fight. The remaining forces were now being brought to bear on the front lines, the lattices of crossing laser fire making the space between ships perilous for anyone traversing them. The fight was now joined, though who could say what other tactics the Sith had in store for all those hovering the skies of Coruscant?

The Jedi forces were beginning to crumble.

For as much as the former Cartel men ( @Nor'baal @Versok @Real Russian ) were going a damned fine job of clearing out the Sith gunships in play with their superior piloting, the Jedi forces were not doing anywhere near as well. Gunships met gunships, corvettes met corvettes and some unlucky gunships even met up against corvettes. Damage on both sides was climbing to catastrophic levels, with it almost being equal in terms of just how many ships were being destroyed.

For every Jedi Corvette that matched a Sith Corvette, both ships would either be destroyed directly or unable to prevent their imminent destruction by another source. Indeed, the battle was becoming brutal and vicious and the corvette The Tempest was floating dead in the water ( @Faster Than Light ) due to some of the Jedi focusing fire on it. Thankfully it's systems were still operational and the crew could transfer to one of the other Sith corvettes.

And that was why the Sith were winning this part of the battle.

The Sith had reserves - it didn't matter that the Jedi and the Sith were trading a ship for a ship because the Sith had the ships to do that for far longer than the Jedi could and it was beginning to become apparent as more, fresh, Sith corvettes flanked the Jedi forces, pinning them between the forward forces and the flanking forces.

The Jedi lines were beginning to break as panic began to set in at being encircled.

There is nothing for the Jedi and their allies to do anymore, nothing they can do to snatch any kind of victory from the jaws of defeat as the Imperial war machine brings it's full might to them at attack speeds.

Already the Jedi and their allies are broken in morale and spirit and those who can calculate hasty jumps to lightspeed and attempt to flee the battle. Some of them will have started their preparations early and manage to make the jump without issue - but they are in the minority.

Most of the Jedi agile fleet are destroyed by enemy fire and those who are not jet off to lightspeed with incomplete calculation. More than a few end up inside suns or crashing into moons and asteroids. Some fly right into black holes and some seemingly fade from all existence, never to be seen or heard of ever again.

Life pods are not picked up but are instead blasted away.

The Empire will hunt those who have managed to slip away relentlessly and those who survive here are blasted into millions of pieces. At the end of the last war, The Jedi made the mistake of letting the Exiles limp away, to recover lost strength and return to threaten them once more.

The Empire does not intend to make the same mistake.
