Chalwaar held Doneeta in front of him, at eye level, and examined him closely.
["His eyes are beginning to flutter. He'll be joining us any minute now. What? Watch our backs?"]
Chalwaar decided that he said that louder than was neccessary, and he immediately clamped up, feeling foolish.
"Got your back, Chal," whispered Ganner.
Chalwaar nodded his appreciation as he unslung his rifle.
Movement!
No, a rat. Chalwaar almost shot at it, which would have given away their position.
"Nice catch."
["Shut up, Ganner."]

They moved low and quiet through the street. There was no motion except for the occasional shift of a gun or one foot being placed down. Abele tapped her earpiece to signal they were nearing a stop. Moments later she tapped again and they stopped. She made the gestures to tell the squad to fan out. "This is the checkpoint. Search for a point of entry."

Ahead of them stood a well fortified building. It was large enough to house a few rooms and to keep more than enough soldiers inside. It was obvious that other squads had been there already. "Chal you and someone else circumvent the building. You're looking for other squads.

["Right. C'mon, Ganner. Certh, hold Doneeta."]
Without waiting for a responce, Chalwaar dumped the twi'lek, who was beginning to fidget, at Ganner's feet. He took off, creeping in the shadows. His eyes scanned the building for movement, a sign of life.
He was just beginning to think that the place was abandoned, until about two-thirds around the complex. There he saw something. Not much, a flickering shadow.
["You see that, Ganner?"] Chalwaar spoke in a low, quiet voice.
"Yeah." He tapped his earpiece. "Possible hostiles in the complex, ten o'clock." He glanced up at Chalwaar, before continuing. "Permission to investigate?"

Chalwaar surveyed the fortified buiding one last time.
["On second thought... There's about a dozen more sets of footprints leading into the complex then away. I say we bail. Unless there's something I'm missing, here's no way we can storm this place without sustaining heavy losses. We've already hit the checkpoint, right? Can't we just move on?"]

"Our goal is to enter that check point and secure it. Apparently no one has done so yet. I'm sending two others after you to back you up. We need allies though if we're gonna take the place." She waved a hand and two others from the squad moved foreward to assist. "If you're not up to it, return here."

["Nobody's secured it?"]
Chalwaar did some quick calculations. If there were people in the complex and nobody had secured it yet, then obviously its dozen-or-so occupants were not on the same team.
["I think there's more then one team in there. If there's not a firefight now, there will be one soon. If we can get our guys inside undetected, we can let them knock each other out, and then take out the survivors."]
At that moment, Dolvan Saliban, the Arkanian, and Mara Tiego, a confident human, made their appearance.
"We're here to help," said Dolvan.
"Good, good," replied Ganner, waving nonchalantly.
Chalwaar nodded curtly before continuing. He almost asked permission to proceed, but he knew what she would say. "It's your call."
After bringing his reinforcements up to speed on his plan, Chalwaar instead said to his headpiece, ["Reinforcements confirmed. We're heading in."]
But there was one problem. The building was locked down. Reinforced windows, blast doors, it was totally impregnable to everything except...
...a keycard. A trainer's keycard.
Chalwaar crouched by the door with his other three squadmates, calling his superior over the headset.
["We're having some problems breaking in. Can I... borrow your keycard?"

"Send someone to retrieve it. I'm acting over-watch. We're covering your enterance. Also, if you can flag an allied squad command do so. When you get inside, try to stay where we can cover you." She pulled a card out of her breast pocket and waited for one squad mate to come retrieve it. She had her scope trained on the building at the moment though watching for movement. Then someone moved, the firefight had begun. "Chal, when you get inside avoid the firefight."

["Will do,"] he said, almost whispered, into Abele's ear. It was a bad habit of his, sneaking up on people like that, and one that wouldn't have worked on Abele if her concentration (and, indeed, her peripheral vision) had not been thwarted by the scope.
He accepted the keycard from his annoyed superior and fled back to his squad.
"I've got the keycard, but the firefight's too close to this door. We'll go in through the back."]
And so they did. The door softly hissed open, and the first thing that met their newly adjusted eyes was an unconscious human soldier. Evidently, this little fortress has seen its fair shair of action tonight.
["We're in,"] Chalwaar whispered into his headpiece, before he adressed his squad.
["Stay close to me. We're going to hunker down here until the noises of gunfire stops."]
A minute passed in an hour's time as they crouched on the steel floors, their rifle noses constantly training for imaginary foes. And then it happened. The gunfire stopped.
Chalwaar initially mistook it for one of the lapses in gunfire, but he counted out fifteen seconds before the gunfire began anew. But this gunfire was different, spread-out, almost rhythmic, in contrast to the frenzied collage of blaster discharges before. Chalwaar realized that they were executing.
["Time to go."]
Chalwaar took off at a hasty trot, down the darkened hallways, towards the hapless executioners. He arrived silently just as the shots stopped.
Wait! Voices just around the corner! Chalwaar pressed one wookiee "ear" to the wall as he put his beefy finger to his mouth in a human gesture for silence.
'"...I think that's all of 'em." A deep-voiced human was speaking. Male, he was fairly sure.
"Huh. Who'd we lose?" "A female.
Deep Voice recited a long list. The female grunted once or twice, but kept silent until the end.
"So who does that leave?"
"Just you, me, Feller, and that Wezz kid. They'll be back any second now."
"What the-" Gunfire.
Chalwaar's eyes bugged out and he whipped his head around. Two flat-footed enemies - presumably Feller and Wezz - had blundered into Chalwaar's squad, and had subsequently fallen prey to the stun bolts of Ganner and Dolvan, the Arkanian.
Chalwaar cursed his ignorance. He'd have to act fast or he'd lose his element of surprise.
Chalwaar roared ferociously and brought his gun about the corner, using the wall as cover. There wa Mara, rolling with him.
His rifle shuddered as he fired three times at his hapless foes, and they crumpled like napkins before a breeze.
Not a second pased before Chalwaar hit action.
["Check your corners!"] He wasn't about to get snuck on again.
A few moments later, the reports came in.
"Clear!"
"Clear!"
Chalwaar nodded in satisfaction as he keyed his earpiece. ["Clear. We are in posession."]

"We're moving into the building cover us." She signaled and the squad moved. Low and fast they moved to the back door and one by one entered. Everything was clear, but they had to be sure. "Secure this area. Block the doors and draw this symbol on the outside of the door. She too a piece of rock and scratched it on the wall. It looked like a circle but it was broken. On the right side of it a tiny section was missing and the center had one line from the center to the circle, two shorter ones on the sides and another line even shorter on the bottom. It looked like a broken cross hair. Obviously a symbol as to whom had control of the fort.

"Get to searching." Abele began to move bodies and securing personal effects and clothing. She and Dolvan secured the prisoners by bounding their hands and feet. They checked all pockets and secret weapon hiding spots.

Chalwaar went about gathering the rifles from the fallen foes, popping out their power packs, and distributing the packs amongst the crew members.
Finally, it was over. He leaned against the wall and reported into his earpiece, so that his entire team could hear. ["I'm done here. How's everyone else doing?"]
["I finished marking our squad emblem,"] came Kaibacca's voice.
"We're doing the search, there's nobody in this building who'll be bothering us anytime soon." Ganner and Doneeta, who had recently come around and had been instantly set to work.
Finally, it was done. They aligned themselves in front of Abele, rigid at attention.

"We hold out until we are relieved from our post. Friendly squads will know how to contact us. They will shoot the door once. If you hear a single round hit the door you should know they are comming. A moment later they will be at the door. Open it and let them in, but be wary and do not let the door open fully, only enough for one man to get in at a time. I will speak to them when they are inside." Abele checked her gun and glanced out a firing step. "We need to begin our defense." And she walked off to find herself a good firing step.

Chalwaar nodded curtly and staked out a window that he could fire from. He chose it because there was a long, open stretch of flat, coverless land that seperated him from the nearest rooftop. He watched his squadmates take their positions, Ganner on his left, Doneeta at his right.

And he sank into the shadows and waited. He didn't know what he was expecting, but he wasn't planning on waiting for two hours, staring at the empty rooftops. Which he was. He knew that they'd be coming, but he silently wished that they'd hurry up with the attack.

Time passed slowly for a time before it seemed to gain momentum. Then after an hour of waiting a shot fired from an unseen location hit the door. All of the base heard it and Abele yelled, "Get to that door! Let them in!" She returned to her position, they would be vulnerable wile Chalwaar and the others were at the door. They had reinforcements now. They would be able to take up any needed positions.

Then once the door opened Abele spoke into her mic, "Which group made it in? Send their CO to me."

Chalwaar keyed one of the doors open, allowing only one man in at a time.
A man strode through and offered Chalwaar, Ganner, and Doneeta a warm smile.
"Corporal Sanders, squad seven. Nice to see ya." Doneeta smiled warmly, Ganner shook his hand. Chalwaar nodded curtly.
"Set! Get in here, double time!" Sanders called through the door, and another man hustled in and saluted. "Private Set, reporting for duty, sir!"
"Yeah, yeah, you're just gonna be my bodyguard, right?" The Corporal turned to Chalwaar's squad. "The rest of my squad's outside," continued Sanders. "You just point to your CO and we'll be on our way.
"Down the hall, she's on your three," supplied Ganner helpfully.
"Thank you kindly, now I'll just be-" He took a step, but was blocked by Chalwaar's hairy arm.
["Hold up,] he growled. ["Your rifle."]
Corporal Sanders offered Chalwaar a blank look. "Sorry, son. M'afraid I don't speak Wookiee."
Chalwaar grunted in irratation, held up his rifle, and separated the weapon from its power pack.
"Oh! Right!" Sanders hastily removed his power pack. It was a good thing to do to before taking someone to the commanding officer.
["You two stay back,"] he said to his squadmates. [I'll take Sanders."] As Chalwaar lead him to Abele, he wondered if this Sanders really was the Commanding Officer. Doubtful. Out of prudency's sake, what he would have done if he were the Corporal's position would be to send someone else in, masquerading as the CO - a decoy. That way, if the squad turned out to be hostile, he wouldn't have lost the brains of the squad. More likely, this "Pvt. Set" was the reall officer.

Abele heard the men walking down the hall and checked her sleeve. There was a long cloth hidden up there in the case that she needed to defend herself. she stepped out of her firing step and into the hall. Her rifle was slung around her shoulder. She saw the young man being lead by Chalwaar and stood erect. "Sergeant Hallen. The sixty eighth. you are?" She extended a hand to shake with the slightly taller man. She glanced at Chalwaar, he would be ready in case of any 'surprises'.

Every fiber of muscle tense in his bulky form, Chalwaar's eyes bored into Sander's gloved hand as it began to withdraw from behind his back...
"-No, Sanders. I'll take care of that." It was Set, blocking Sander's hand. Chalwaar smiled inwardly. He knew it.
"Sergeant Vondar, at your service," he said with a smile and a flourish, accepting Sgt. Hallen's hand gracefully, not-at-all military-like.
"I apologise for the charade," he said. "But I had to make sure that you, well... you. Had a bit of a nasty experience last year..."
Chalwaar didn't like this guy's flirty personality. It rubbed him the wrong way.
"So anyway," he continued. "I'll just be bringing the squad in, then."

Abele didn't quite trust the man. She didn't know why, but she didn't. "You should go do that. you can begin setting your men up as you see fit." After the man left she took Chalwaar aside. "I don't trust him. Make sure everyone else knows. Place yourselves in a superior position to theirs." Abele slid back into her position, but now she watched the door and glanced outside every so often.

Chalwaar nodded. Though he had little patience for cloak-and-dagger and mutiny, he could see the value in Abele's caution. She was a human; Chalwaar was a Wookiee. He couldn't read human expressions as well, and he decided to trust her judgement.
The first thing he would have to do, he decided, was create a comm channel. The comm frequency they had used previously would have to be given to Vondar, or he'd suspect trickery. So they needed another means of communication, one that the other squad wouldn't know about.
He got to it right away. He, Ganner, and Doneeta went to everyone on the squad and whispered warnings. "The Sergeant says to watch these guys," they'd say. "Keep 'em in your sights. And keep your ears open to this frequency..."
And finally, they had finished. Ganner and Doneeta returned to their posts, and Chalwaar returned to Abele.
["Done,"] he said tersely, once there was no-one of the other squad around. ["And I made a channel we can use without them knowing."]

"Good... Now we wait." She was already prepared for a long wait. "Shift your location every hour. I don't want outsiders getting a count on us." Abele had planned her next spot. A few feet over, just next to a pillar that made for better cover if things got too hot.

((You can make whatever you want to happen in the next few posts. Throw shit out there, show me the extent of your writing capabilities.))
