DESCRIPTION​

The Barloz-class freighter is a model of transport which was once manufactured by the Corellian Engineering Corporation. Considered archaic in the present day, the Barloz is nevertheless a milestone in CEC's history; as many of the company's models over the past century have struggled to escape the shadow of the iconic YT-1300, prior YTs had competed bitterly with the Barloz to make a name for themselves. Before the YT-1300, the Barloz was CEC's best selling light freighter model, and was in production for centuries before finally being phased out just prior to the Clone Wars.

The Barloz, compared to post-YT freighters, was nothing special. Operating with a crew of 4 and able to carry 4 additional passengers, it had a cargo capacity of 85 tons and was 41 meters in length. Performance was comparable to later YT-series models, with a top speed of 50 MGLT and a class 2 hyperdrive. Armament consisted of 3 dual light laser turrets, with a medium deflector screen generator for defense. Though not as modular as the later YTs, the Barloz was considered to be exceptionally easy to modify for its time.

Despite their by now considerable age, the durability, reliability and performance of the Barloz has kept it in service all the way to the present day in some parts of the Galaxy. Although it has mostly disappeared from main hyperlanes, the type can still be found in backrocket sectors and systems.
