The gasp that escaped her only acted as encouragement as he conveniently shifted his hips again. The gentle scrap of her fangs on his neck elicited a wave of goosebumps across his body. The line between pleasure and pain, between risk and reward.
As her hand came up to trace the line of his jaw he moved in to kiss her— then the world inverted and he was in his back, she’s was on top and his hands were pinned. She looked down on him with that seductive fanged smile and he looked right back into her eyes desire and excitement coalescing.
Then she was done. He blinked. Confusion stampeded across his face and then he locked it down. The flames of passion weren’t easily extinguished and he knew he was gonna need an ice bath to come down from this… that is until she mentioned a debriefing and he felt his excitement deflate.
He was still breathing heavy as she got off him. He didn’t respond. He just laid there for a moment trying to figure out what just happened.
Doubt started to creep in. Had this been a trick? Had she played him this whole time?
Or was this a test? He thought about her snappy response at his harmless joke. He snagged his glass from the ground and drained the rest of his whiskey. She’d sliced the camera so he took care of their evidence.
He decided he wouldn’t give her the satisfaction of seeing him as some pinning baffoon. So, he’d slip behind one of his go to masks and begin the distancing process.
Oh well, he thought, My luck had to run out sometime.
He slid into the speeder and pulled away from Apex. Seven wasn’t stand offish or brooding. He pulled a cigara out lit it up and offered her one. He was a gentleman. He’d given her a choice and he’d respect that.
As he took a drag off his vice he mentioned, “I had a good time tonight, looking forward to our next dance.”
He kept his face straight but slid her a side long glance. As the speeder passed into a tunnel.
