DESCRIPTION
The B2 battle droid, better known as the super battle droid, is a model of heavy infantry droid originally manufactured by the now long-defunct Baktoid Combat Automata corporation. Entering production just prior to the outbreak of the Clone Wars, the B2 was developed primarily to serve in the army of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, the largest droid fighting force ever assembled.

Unlike its predecessor, the low-cost and relatively flimsy B1, the B2 is a sturdy, armored juggernaut, meant primarily to create breakthroughs in enemy lines for other droids to exploit. It has a humanoid pattern, standing a hair shorter than the B1 at 1.91 meters, but is much bulkier than the B1 and lacks its ability to fold into a compact configuration for storage. The B2 is thickly armored, with a heavy duranium casing able to deflect light blaster fire; B2s can be disabled by shots to the joints, however, and unlike B1s they are generally too heavy to drag themselves around the battlefield once damaged. Unlike the B1, the B2 does possess an integrated armament, consisting of 2 double-barrel wrist blasters capable of inflicting medium damage. Unlike most hand blasters, these weapons possess no stun setting.

The B2, like the later models of the B1, is capable of independent operation, but can be remotely coordinated by a central control computer. In general, B2s possess the same cognitive sophistication as the earlier B1, that is to say they are fairly dim-witted. They are generally more aggressive than the B1, however, and have been known to casually destroy their fellow droids if they get in the B2's way.

At the outbreak of the Clone Wars, B2 super battle droids were widely used by the CIS army, forming heavy assault squads which were used to attack dug-in enemy positions. Being much more sophisticated and powerful than the standard B1, the B2 was accordingly more expensive to produce, and was never as numerous as its predecessor; official statistics published after the war placed the ratio of B1s to B2s at something like 100 to 1. At the end of the war, a shutdown command was issued to all elements of the Separatist military, with most B2s being deactivated and subsequently seized by the newly formed Galactic Empire. Large numbers of captured B2s were scrapped, with the remainder being expended as aggressor units in military training exercises, or simply languishing in storage. Many of those not seized by the Empire ended up on the black market, or remained active in the hands of Separatist holdouts which had for whatever reason not heeded the shutdown command.

Although they were a major component of the CIS droid army, B2s in working condition are exceptionally rare in the present day. With heavy infantry droids having been firmly banned under the Empire, and highly regulated under the New Republic, droid armies like those used during the Clone Wars essentially no longer exist. B2s, although highly desirable on the black market, are extremely difficult to get hold of. They can still be found, however, generally in the hands of small planetary militias, mercenary groups and criminals.

LEGALITY
Illegal. Heavy infantry droids such as the B2 are highly restricted under interstellar law, with personal ownership being banned. Many beings get around this restriction by reprogramming their B2s as personal attendants and bodyguards, or at least claiming to have done so.

INTENT
To create a standard archaic heavy battle droid model.

RESTRICTIONS
A B2 super battle droid is an exceptionally rare and expensive piece of equipment, with individual ownership being difficult in the present day, although not impossible. Characters based on the B2 may be created, but will be subject to increased scrutiny by members of staff.
