DESCRIPTION​

The B-1A2 Bolo is a large, armed starship produced by the venerable Domel-Berger Yards, falling roughly into the corvette category. Marketed primarily to small system defense forces and law enforcement agencies, the Bolo has been a steady seller for DBY over the past few decades, and is among the heavier warships such a force is likely to possess. For its size, it is quite powerful, boasting a respectable armament and a good degree of versatility.

The Bolo measures about 115 meters in length, and has a minimum crew of 5, although 20 are required to run the ship at full capacity. 100 passengers can also be carried, as well as up to 1,000 tons of cargo, with consumables sufficient for a standard month in space. Armament consists of 2 quad light turbolaser turrets, as well as 4 dual medium turrets, 2 quad light ion cannon turrets and a pair of tractor beam projectors for snaring escaping vessels. Top speed is about 70 MGLT, with a class 4 hyperdrive; Bolos are more suited to local in-system operations than long-range patrol. Often used in the customs patrol and enforcement role, Bolos are well equipped to take on most smugglers and pirates, and carry personnel and equipment for carrying out both hostile boarding actions and general blastboat duty.

Bolo-class corvettes are generally seen in the hands of local military and paramilitary forces, and are more common than larger classes of warship. They are also used by mercenaries and occasionally even pirates.
