ALL THE GALAXY'S

FIGHTING SHIPS

L isted here are the various military-rated spacecraft which are available to characters, groups of characters or factions. They are split up into the following categories. To see additional information about each craft, hover your pointer over the name for a brief description, or click to be taken to its full information page!

STARFIGHTERS
Starfighters are light combat spacecraft which have been used by heroes and villains alike since Galactic prehistory. They are common just about everywhere, and even civilians use them.

INTERCEPTORS
Interceptors are essentially a sub-category of starfighters. They tend to be smaller, lighter and less sturdy, but extremely fast and maneuverable.

STARBOMBERS
Starbombers are combat spacecraft dedicated to carrying munitions such as bombs, missiles and torpedoes. They are typically used against capital ships, space stations and ground targets, really anything that's large and can't fly away quickly. They tend to be slower and less nimble than starfighters and interceptors, but have a much higher destructive potential; they typically need some form of escort in combat to survive long, however. They generally come in light, medium and heavy varieties.

PINNACES
Pinnaces are an ancient classification of combat spacecraft, effectively the descendants of armed shuttles. They are not typically as fast or heavily armed as starfighters, but have largely equal maneuverability, and usually have the ability to carry passengers and a useful amount of cargo. They are often used by mercenaries, law enforcement and pirates in the present day.

DROPSHIPS
Dropships have a singular purpose: transport personnel, vehicles and cargo to the surface of a planet, moon or other body, typically from orbit, typically from a large capital ship in orbit as part of an invasion or raid. They are not common, the role usually being filled by shuttles of various kinds, but there are a few.

GUNSHIPS
Gunships are similar to bombers in that they are typically slower and less maneuverable than starfighters, but are more heavily armed and armored. Like pinnaces, they can usually carry passengers and cargo, but are largely intended to use their guns and missiles against ground targets, or against other spacecraft their own size or larger. They are often used by pirates, mercenaries and bounty hunters.

CORVETTES
Corvettes are among the smallest combat-rated spacecraft to be categorized as capital ships. Not all corvettes are expressly built for fighting, but most are potent warships in their own right. They are often used to run blockades, transport VIPs, perform reconnaissance duty or act as pickets for large fleets. They are favored by small combat teams as bases of operation. According to the Anaxes War College classification system, corvettes are defined as being between 100 and 200 meters in length.

FRIGATES
Frigates are the next step up in capital ship scale from a corvette, and various classes exist throughout the Galaxy. Frigates tend to be equipped for and used in roles that a lightly armed corvette would not be suited for. Like corvettes, however, they can operate independently, although they tend to be part of fleet formations. According to the Anaxes War College classification system, frigates are defined as being between 200 and 400 meters in length.

CRUISERS
Cruisers are heavy warships, generally the largest thing a system government, mercenary group or pirate clan could be reasonably expected to operate. They exist in all sorts of different configurations and roles, but according to the Anaxes War College classification system, cruisers are defined as being between 400 and 1,000 meters in length. This classification is further split up into light and heavy, with light cruisers being between 400 and 600 meters, and heavy cruisers being between 600 and 1,000 meters.

DESTROYERS
Destroyers, often called star destroyers, are super-heavy warships which tend only to be operated by sector governments or large factions. As with cruisers, many variations exist, but they are almost universally imposing and heavily armed. According to the Anaxes War College classification system, destroyers are defined as being between 1,000 and 2,000 meters - 1 to 2 kilometers - in length.

BATTLECRUISERS
Battlecruisers are enormous ultra-heavy warships, typically used as the centerpieces of fleet formations. Considered excessive by many, they are nevertheless extremely powerful, able to savage lesser warships in most cases, although some older designs with lesser armament nevertheless fall into this class by virtue of their scale. According to the Anaxes War College classification system, battlecruisers are defined as being between 2,000 and 5,000 meters - 2 to 5 kilometers - in length.

DREADNOUGHTS
Dreadnoughts are the largest classification of capital warship, and are typically the ultimate battle-wagon of any fleet formation, or indeed, of any entire navy. Due to their scale, not to mention the expense of building and maintaining them, dreadnoughts are relatively scarce among the Galaxy's warships, but are rightly feared. According to the Anaxes War College classification system, dreadnoughts are defined as being anything over 5,000 meters - 5 kilometers - in length.

CARRIERS
Carriers are starships dedicated to transporting smaller craft, typically starfighters and/or starbombers. Although most large warships can be considered carriers to some degree, dedicated carriers are generally specialized to the exclusion of all else, being generally poorly armed and slow, relying on the fighters they carry as offense and defense. Carriers often support vessels which do not have the ability to carry fighters of their own, or which are substandard in this area.

OTHER
Other classes of combat spacecraft which do not fall into the previous categories.

ALL THE GALAXY'S

MERCHANT SHIPS

L isted here are the various civilian and law enforcement-rated spacecraft which are available to characters, groups of characters or factions. They are split up into the following categories. To see additional information about each craft, hover your pointer over the name for a brief description, or click to be taken to its full information page!

STARHOPPERS
Starhoppers are small, usually single-seat and sometimes lightly armed civilian spacecraft. Easier to purchase, license and maintain than a fully equipped starfighter, starhoppers are considered more practical for everyday use. Although their performance is not typically amazing, some can be as fast and nimble as a good starfighter, especially those optimized for sport flying.

SKIFFS
"Skiff" is a catch-all term for small, simple spacecraft, usually larger than a starhopper but smaller than a shuttle. Some are armed and rated for combat, especially those commonly used by law enforcement. They are usually capable of carrying passengers and cargo.

SHUTTLES
Shuttles, along with light freighters, are some of the most common and widely used spacecraft by type in the Galaxy. Covering a wide range of shapes and sizes, shuttles are traditionally used to transport personnel and material from space to a planetary surface, and vice versa. They are also used as short-haul interstellar transports, although some have longer range than might be expected. In military service, they are often used to land troops and equipment during invasions and raids alongside dedicated dropships.

SCOUT SHIPS
Scout ships spacecraft optimized for range and often hyperspace performance. They are used primarily for planetary survey work, charting unknown areas of space, but are also used for military reconnaissance. They range in size from tiny single-seaters to large, elaborately equipped quasi-freighters.

LIGHT FREIGHTERS
Light freighters are some of the most common and widely used spacecraft in the Galaxy. Used by all stripes of Galactic society, they are the lifeblood of interstellar commerce, typically transporting small, high-value loads. They can be found nearly everywhere. Many are part of large corporate fleets, although plenty are independently owned, and are used for every type of transportation imaginable, from passenger service to spice smuggling.

MEDIUM FREIGHTERS
Medium freighters are a step up from light freighters, typically larger with higher load capacity, but with larger crew requirements and upkeep costs. They are not as common as light or bulk freighters, but still fill an important niche in the Galaxy's logistical ecosystem.

BULK FREIGHTERS
Bulk freighters are extremely large cargo vessels whose capacity can usually be measured in kilotons. Primarily plying the major hyperlanes between mining, agricultural and manufacturing worlds, and delivering finished goods to major markets and distribution hubs, these slow, lumbering craft perform a vital function in Galactic logistics.

BULK CRUISERS
Bulk cruisers, like bulk freighters, are an important part of Galactic commerce, although they are not strictly limited to that sphere. These ships are large, armed spacecraft, often converted from bulk freighter designs, although some are purpose built and sometimes specialized for specific roles. They function in all sorts of roles, but are most typically used as secure transports for large, high-value cargoes, being able to carry a significant volume themselves. They are also sometimes used to escort more vulnerable ships as part of a convoy.

STARLINERS
Starliners, often simply called liners, are specialized passenger transports, typically large and optimized for capacity and speed, although they might sacrifice one for the other. Most civilized planets will have regular passenger service to and from them, served by various liners. These ships can range in size from intra-system shuttles with only a handful of seats to massive, luxuriously appointed interstellar cruisers.

YACHTS
Yachts are luxury transportation and playthings for the rich, ranging in size from tiny shuttles to massive private star cruisers. They are universally expensive and lavishly appointed, taste and good sense optional.

SPACE STATIONS
Space stations are immobile or semi-immobile constructs which are typically positioned in orbit above a planet or in deep space. They serve all manner of functions, from planetary defense to manufacturing to tourist destinations.

OTHER
Other classes of broadly civilian spacecraft which do not fall into the previous categories.

ALL THE GALAXY'S

VEHICLES

L isted here are the various ground and atmospheric vehicles available to characters in our Galaxy. They are sorted into the following categories.

LANDSPEEDERS
Landspeeders are repulsorlift vehicles which are capable of hovering up to a few meters above the ground, but not true flight. They are among the most common forms of transportation in the Galaxy, used by all walks of life and coming in many varieties.

SPEEDER BIKES
Speeder bikes, also called jumpspeeders, are small, single-seat repulsorcraft which - like landspeeders - are capable of hovering off the ground but not true flight. They are more maneuverable and occasionally faster than a landspeeder, but can typically only carry their single driver, or occasionally a single passenger willing to hold on tight.

AIRSPEEDERS
Fully flight capable repulsorcraft which are used for everything from normal passenger transport to motorsports to military applications.

SWOOP BIKES
Swoop bikes - commonly just called "swoops" - are similar to speeder bikes in form, but are capable of true flight and very high speed. Considered dangerous to ride, they require a degree of skill to control effectively. Notably, outlaw "swoop gangs" are a staple of criminal activity on many worlds, although not all "swoopers" are criminals, of course.

REPULSORTANKS
Repulsortanks are large, armored repulsorcraft, designed to resist most infantry-portable weapons and usually equipped with one or more heavy weapons of their own. They can be defeated by specialized anti-vehicle weapons and heavy artillery.

WALKERS
Walkers are ground vehicles which use legs rather than wheels or repulsorlifts for propulsion. Generally used in terrain or conditions where other vehicles cannot operate easily, walkers have many military applications, although some civilian models exist.

OTHER
Other vehicles which do not fit into the above categories.

ALL THE GALAXY'S

WEAPONS

L isted here are all the various types of weaponry available in this setting, sorted into the following categories. To see additional information about each item, hover your pointer over the name for a brief description, or click to be taken to its full information page!

LIGHT PISTOLS
Pistols are ranged weapons which can typically be wielded one-handed by most sentients, although two-handed styles are popular as well, and can be better for accuracy. Light pistols, in particular, are small and have limited stopping power, but are some of the most common due to the fact that they are easier to acquire and carry for civilians seeking personal protection.

MEDIUM PISTOLS
Pistols are ranged weapons which can typically be wielded one-handed by most sentients, although two-handed styles are popular as well, and can be better for accuracy. Pistols generally have the shortest range among ranged weapons.

Medium pistols, in particular, are the sweet spot between portability and stopping power; most standard-issue military and police pistols are of medium power, and they are the weapon of choice for many individuals in other lines of work that may depend on their weapon regularly. They are fairly easy to get.

HEAVY PISTOLS
Pistols are ranged weapons which can typically be wielded one-handed by most sentients, although two-handed styles are popular as well, and can be better for accuracy. Pistols generally have the shortest range among ranged weapons.

Heavy pistols are hand-cannons meant to deal with things like body armor; typically used by sentients who need extra stopping power, they are seen as excessive by most, and are banned on most civilized worlds. Nevertheless, sometimes you just need to ask a peedunkey if they feel lucky.

LIGHT RIFLES/CARBINES
Rifles are ranged weapons which can range widely in size and power, but which are typically wielded two-handed. Shorter rifles are typically referred to as carbines. Rifles generally have a longer effective range than pistols, and can be more accurate.

Light rifles are the least among the rifles, meant mainly for civilian applications such as target shooting and varmint hunting. They don't typically have much stopping power, but a good marksman can do a lot with one.

MEDIUM RIFLES/CARBINES
Rifles are ranged weapons which can range widely in size and power, but which are typically wielded two-handed. Shorter rifles are typically referred to as carbines. Rifles generally have a longer effective range than pistols, and can be more accurate.

Medium rifles are the sweet spot between stopping power and portability. Most standard military rifles are of the medium grade, and they are frequently used by all manner of individuals who rely on their weapon for safety or for their profession.

HEAVY RIFLES
Rifles are ranged weapons which can range widely in size and power, but which are typically wielded two-handed. Shorter rifles are typically referred to as carbines. Rifles generally have a longer effective range than pistols, and can be more accurate.

Heavy rifles are a step down from the light cannons which usually require a rest to fire from or which are mounted in some sort of vehicle. They are extremely powerful, meant to deal with body armor, or to bring down especially fearsome beasts. Carrying one in public is the sort of thing to get one stared at.

SNIPER/ANTI-VEHICLE WEAPONS
Sniper weapons are typically scaled-up rifle type weapons optimized for long range. Some are substantially more powerful than normal sentient-portable energy weapons, and meant for engaging vehicles and other hard targets.

REPEATERS
Repeaters are ranged weapons which can range widely in size and power, but which are all capable of delivering an extremely high rate of fire. They are forbidden from PvP engagements.

DISRUPTORS/DISINTEGRATORS
Disintegrators are weapons which are capable of disrupting the molecular integrity of a target, at best disfiguring and at worst reducing almost any creature or object to a pile of ash. Such weapons are considered highly illegal in most civilized systems, however they are favored by certain criminal elements due to the economy of evidence they produce. They have seen renewed interest from certain legitimate authorities since the outbreak of the AMS virus, as well.

PROJECTILE WEAPONS
Projectile weapons are devices which use projectiles of some kind to inflict damage. These range from tiny inert pellets to explosive guided munitions.

STUN WEAPONS
Stun weapons are weapons which exclusively inflict stun damage.

MELEE WEAPONS
Melee weapons are implements which cut, pierce, bash, shock, generally kill, injure or otherwise incapacitate a target at close range.

OTHER WEAPONS
These are weapons which do not properly fit the above categories.

They are considered highly illegal in most systems, and often are disguised as other types of droids. Assassin droids may also be programmed to take their captives back alive.

SEEKER DROIDS/REMOTES
Seeker droids, sometimes called "remotes", are simple autonomous machines which generally use repulsorlifts for locomotion. They are usually equipped with photoreceptors and/or holocameras, and may have weapons of some kind. As the name suggests, they can be assigned a target and will seek it relentlessly, either monitoring it or engaging it in combat. Remotes are often used as combat training aids, particularly for teaching weapons avoidance and marksmanship.

PROBE DROIDS
Probe droids are autonomous mechanicals which are optimized for scouting and survey work, both in military and civilian contexts.

DROID SHIPS
Droid ships are droid-controlled spacecraft, ranging from titanic cargo haulers to light starfighters.
