The Unknown Regions: The Prophets of Darkness

Overview
The Unknown Regions, a part of space vastly unexplored by the known galaxy, home to hundreds of species that will chill you to your very bone, home to orginazations that would like nothing else but to bring the galaxy to ruin and they would if they had the chance. Luckily, for centuries the Chiss Ascendancy has prevailed in stopping these hostile forces from destroying the galaxy with their military might. They were so effective at their job that it has been several centuries since the last attack from the Unknown Regions, but that time of peace has led to their guard becoming lax and now, with the war to worry about, Chiss patrols are at an all time low.

This lack of security has led to the expansion of one of the Chiss' oldest enemies, the Sorcerers of Rhand, who are a group of Force Sensitve that worship the Dark instead of the Force, and believe that everything must be destroyed. In recent years there has been reports of supernatural attacks at planets surrounding the Chiss Ascendancy, creating a sort of panic and cry for aid from the planets to the Unknown Regions' super power, but with the war at full speed the Chiss Ascendancy could not divert enough ships and troops assist the independent planets. As a result, planets began going dark, slowly but surely, ceasing to communicate with the rest of the galaxy, seemingly disappearing. For years the attackers were left unchecked as they continued to attack planets, annihilating all life on the planets it attacked, but even then the Chiss Ascendancy still could not pull resources from the war in order to assist planets that were outside of its territory.

Eventually, however, the attackers became too bold for their own good, and began moving closer to Chiss Ascendancy owned space, as if preparing to attack, which they did. When they did attack, the result was the Incident of Bogo Rai, where a group of Sorcerers of Rhand were caught transporting illegal goods and dangerous weapons onto the world; Resisting arrest, the Sorcerers managed to kill off a few of the Chiss Policemen before being subdued lethally, with only one of them escaping back into the Unknown Regions. Now realizing that the threat was real, the Chiss Ascendancy decided to divert resources to bring down these terrorists before they began planning bigger and more ambitious attacks. The result was a gathering of Chiss-aligned mercenaries and Chiss Soldiers and officers in order to stop the ever growing threat, before it grew too big.

As soon as they gathered the team, the Chiss Ascendancy decided to send them to the planet that had called for their help most recently, and the one who it was deemed best to establish relations with, 244Core. What they find there is still to be determined......and if they survive is questionable.

The Sorcerers of Rhand
"Only power is real, and the only real power is the power to destroy. Existence is fleeting. Destruction is eternal."
―The core tenets of the Sorcerers of Rhand

A radical cult based in the Unknown Regions, the Sorcerers of Rhand are a rather powerful and feared sect of that Region. They are the result of the merger of three Sith Cults, and share the view that destruction is the will of the Universe. The Sorcerers are also extremely powerful Force Sensitives, even though they do not believe in the Force, instead they believe in the Way of the Dark. Still they are powerful enough in the Force that they can see into the future and summon apocalyptic Gods, in recent years however those Force Powers have waned off with only a select few able to even attempt them, much less succeed at casting them, but that does not make them weak, they are still capable of summoning powerful beings and calling upon magnificent destructive powers.

As a civilization their technology is rather modern with weaponry such as blasters and thermal detonators readily available to them, but they do not rely on such technology, instead they prefer using their force powers, or force imbued gear such as Force Swords or Force Armor for gear. This makes them extremely powerful and difficult enemies to fight, but then again they themselves are not the main component of their army. Instead they rely on summoned beings, or enslaved species from other planets, to be their grunts, with Sorcerers being the commanders, rather than fighting themselves.

Their government is a dictatorship with one person as its overall leader, named the Dark One or titled Dark Overlord, while other leaders are leaders of two specific branches rather than the group as a whole. One of the branches is the Military, the leader being titled Dark Warlord, while being called Harbinger of Darkness, and the second, is the branch that focuses on learning and practicing the Way of the Dark, the leader being called Keeper of Darkness or being titled Dark Master. Other ranks are as follows: Dark Knight (Master Level), Dark Crusader (Knight Level), Dark Acolyte (Padawan Level), and Darkling (Initiative Level and Normal Soldiers).

Dark Overlord Azme-al Horin,
The Dark One

Azme-al Horin, the leader of the Sorcerers of Rhand is perhaps the most powerful Sorcerer the cult has ever seen, he is also to blame for the cult's recent expansion in the Unknown Regions, and the massacre of millions of its inhabitants. Part of a relatively mythical species of unknown origin and centuries old, Azme-al is most likely the last of his kind, thus not much is known of his species. Due to his advanced age, however, Azme-al is unbelievably wise in his decisions, but is also relatively weak and frail when it comes to physical combat, thus is sometimes ignored by Naza-Im who considers the old Azme-al, weak. Still, woe is to be had for whomever has to face the Dark One in combat, for his powers in the Force know almost no equal, as he is able to summon beasts of great power and is able to cast magnificent spells (Force Powers) of destruction that can put some Sith Lords to shame.

Personality wise, he is ruthless in his choices, slaughtering millions of people and possibly driving some Unknown Regions' species to extinction with the blink of an eye. Azme-al also has no respect for life, instead he shows outright disdain for it; in fact the only reason he hasn't killed himself being to extinguish the galaxy of life and destroy everything, showing a religious and radical following of the Way of the Dark. Still, as mentioned before, Azme-al is wise and intelligent as well, due to his advanced age; he is not one to make decisions without contemplating the various outcomes first, in an almost Chiss-like fashion. In fact the Bogo Rai Incident was not even his doing, instead it was his subordinate, Dark Warlord Naza-im Haj, who carried out the act, defying Azme-al and causing a small rift inside the Sorcerers.

Dark Warlord Naza-im Haj
Harbinger of Darkness

Dark Warlord Naza-im Haj, leader of the Sorcerers' military, and the strongest combatant of the Sorcerers of Rhand. Originally a Human Sith Crusader who traveled to the Unknown Regions and never returned, he is now a Sorcerer of Rhand so corrupted by the Way of the Dark that his face is pale and shows signs of cracking as if he was made of stone, while his eyes are blood red, making him appear no longer human, but instead an evil statue come to life. One should not be deceived by his appearance however, for he moves with magnificent speed and is extremely strong physically, making him an excellent blades master. Still his weakness lies in his recklessness, as shown in his involvement, and orchestration, concerning the Bogo Rai Incident, and his lacking in the knowledge of spells, which were substituted with his sheer aptitude for melee combat, thus the reason he became Dark Warlord, rather than any other leadership position. In the end however, Naza-im will prove not to be easy to defeat even if faced by a Sith, or Jedi, Master.

Dark Master Saven Tuk,
Keeper of the Darkness

Old and worn, Saven Tuk, is perhaps the only one who truly knows Azme-al, since they have known each other ever since they joined the Sorcerers of Rhand, and like Azme-al, Saven Tuk is probably the last of his species since there have been no other reported sightings of beings like him. Not at all powerful, Saven Tuk is Keeper of Darkness due to his innate knowledge of the Way of the Dark and serves mainly as an adviser the Dark Warlord and Overlord. Thus he has no combat role, nor is he expected to participate in combat, instead he is expected to provide insight on what to do, since he is the only Sorcerer of Rhand able to see into the future now, even though severely limited in what he sees and still suffers the same weakness as before when using Darksight; that there are multiple alternatives of the future and only some are revealed to him, not knowing which ones are true or not. Also, unlike his counterparts, Saven is clearly power hungry and is always urging for the further expansion of the Sorcerers of Rhand, in fact he was the one who convinced Naza-im to organize an attack on Bogo Rai. Still despite seeming useless and his rashness, Saven Tuk is the heir apparent of the Sorcerers of Rhand, due to his connection with Azme-al though that may change.

Serevek Mining Corporation
"Money is progress"
-Serevek Mining Corp. Motto

Essentially the owner of 244Core, Serevek Mining Corp has managed to outbid and out buy almost every other corporation on the planet, leaving only a few companies that have managed to not spark their anger. Even though technically they don't control the whole planet, they are still as close to government you can get on the planet, since they essentially they use their money and influence to hire thug crews that 'police' the planet. They also raise and control the prices on the planet, and are cruel to the people, having absolutely no tolerance for strikes or protests, in fact any protesters or slavers are immediately imprisoned and locked away for good, to be slaved off in one of the Dump's strip mines. Indeed they are a ruthless and merciless corporation, not above sending thugs or assassins against competitors and people they deem enemies. In one instance they assassinated a competitor's entire family by feeding them to rancors, and then went on to have the competitor torn apart by speeders that were attached to his extremities. On the flip side, they treat those that are compliant and cooperative with respect and dignity, even going as far as rewarding a family of miners, who have stayed loyal to the Corporation for centuries, with high ranking positions in the corporation, making them extremely rich and powerful in the bat of an eye.

To enforce their rule they use modern technology such as blasters and durasteel armor, arming hired mercenaries and thugs to do their dirty work. Recently however things have gotten a little weird with some of their thug gangs disappearing, and slowly but surely their manpower has been dwindling around the planet, with reports of strange beasts originating from inside the Dump. These reports were first started by the slaves working there, which were relatively ignored since the slaves came up with a new story every day to try and convince the guards to abandon their posts, but eventually the stories were supported by experienced mercenary commanders who reported the same thing during their patrols inside the Dump before they disappeared.

These turn of events forced the CEO of the company, Jacen Serevek, to seek outside help, choosing the Chiss Ascendancy since they were his best bet due their proximity, strength, and not being as fully invested in the galactic war as the Sith or GA. Also as a result of the crisis, the board of directors decided to give Jacen emergency powers until the problem was resolved, since they wanted to secure their assets just in case things turned for the worse. After that the only person to retain some sort of power in the corporation other than Jacen was Alloj Akra, the leader of the mercenary forces and the main one in charge of the ground forces.

CEO Jacen Serevek

The young and enigmatic Jacen Serevek is the de facto leader of the Serevek Mining Corporation, he is well known for running the corporation as if it was a crime organization, which it might as well be with the number of crimes the CEO has committed using the Serevek Mining Corp. name. Still he does treat his friends well, pampering them with them with the riches that the Mining Corporation earns him, thus making him a charismatic individual to those that enjoy credits. Due to his ruthless business tactics he is also a rather skilled tactician, but put him in the field and he'll most likely die in the first few seconds, due to his utter lack of training and experience in the use of weapons and armor. In the end Jacen is an important name on 244Core, running the planet with the palm of his hand, still one must remain aware of his seducing smile and honeyed words that can lead one astray.

Mercenary Captain Alloj Akra

One of two on 244Core that could challenge Jacen's power on the planet, Alloj is a miner turned mercenary leader and thus leads the main military force on 244Core. He's not as cruel as many lead him out to be, instead he views the galaxy in a darker light, not really seeing the good part of the galaxy after he lost his arms in a mining accident. Still he is not one to go out slaughtering women and children, nor is one to mistreat miners without good reason. Alloj, however, is still loyal to the Serevek Corporation, since they are the sole reason he survived the loss of his arms, and then replaced his arms with cybernetic replacements. Recently, though, he has been preoccupied with crisis at The Dump that is recently resulting in the loss of his men, and is putting his loyalty for Serevek aside in order to try and save his men.

The Chiss Team
"Help, and be Helped"
- Martel's words on the mission to 244Core

As a response to the Bogo Rai Incident, the Chiss Ascendancy decided to answer 244Core's call for help and send a team of six Chiss Operatives to the planet. The operatives consist of various Chiss from differing branches ranging from CEDF to Shadow Walkers to the Immortals, but all armed armed with the best technology the Chiss has to offer, in order to ensure their safety and success on the field. Meanwhile, Martel himself will be personally overseeing the mission, making sure everything runs smoothly while he talks to the CEO of the planet's main mining corporation, since this missions success could greatly help the Chiss in their war effort, giving the Ascendancy access to an almost unlimited supply of resources if everything runs smoothly and 244Core agrees to ally with the Chiss.

Imperator Mar'tel'mar

A highly respected Chiss and previous Tactical Commander of Ascendance, Martel was recently given leadership of the Chiss Ascendancy as Imperator. It had only been weeks since he was inducted did the Bogo Rai incident occur, immedaitely he deemed it necessary to find those responsible for the order of the attack to show that the Ascendancy will not tolerate terrorists, or hostile attacks, of any sort. Tracing the trail of the terrorists back to the Unknown Regions, Martel remembered reading reports on attacks in the Unknown Regions by an unknown force during his time as Tactical Commander. Thus Martel decided to start there, this resulted in the Chiss answering 244Core's call for aid when they sent it, hoping not only to establish relations with the tactically important world, but also to find those responsible for the Bogo Rai Incident.

Cordia Dawn
Cordia is somewhat of liaison to the Chiss Ascendancy by the Mandalorian Clans, even though she does not have explicit orders to do. Still she has proven her worth by working with in the Chiss for nearly ten years thus the reason she has the rank of Legionnaire Prime within the CEDF. Which was why she was chosen personally to participate in the mission, though given a subordinate infantry position.

Prard'ora'nuruodo

Sharing much in common with Prima Legatus Arkel, Prard'ora'nuruodo, or Doran, is a Chiss Naval Officer who recently had returned from a classified assignment in the Unknown Regions and had also received a demotion due to reforms in CEDF ranks. Still he does hold some sort of command as a Centurion and was personally chosen for the mission due to his experience and skill. It is without doubt that Doran will be promoted to a higher position than before if he manages to successfully complete the mission with efficiency and competence.

Independents
(These are characters that you'll find in your travels that don't belong to any of the major factions of the planet)

Sir Isaac Clarke

A veteran from the Unknown Regions who has fought many of the dark forces hidden there, Sir Isaac Clarke was born on 244Core as a chivalrous aristocrat who was Serevek's main competitor and was very close to taking control of the Serevek Mining Corp, but was driven away from 244Core due to an ever growing threat in the Unknown Regions that was approaching his homeworld, resulting in him deciding to go and fight this unknown force in order to protect his homeworld. He returned five years later, victorious in his fight against the threat, though severely scarred, but came back to find that his Corporate Empire had been destroyed by Jacen's shady business tactics. Luckily, he had enough money to own a few mines, enough to support him and his family but certainly not enough to continue to challenge Serevek, even if he did he didn't have the will to. It's been ten years since then, and now with rumors abound of evil forces about, eerily similar to what he's seen before, Isaac is preparing to fight for his Homeworld once more, armed with his trusty blaster and his wits.

Crazy Tommy

No one knows exactly who Tommy is or where he came from, all they do know is that he has been on 244Core more than most. Due to this he is also the one with the most knowledge of The Dump, in fact choosing that as his place of living, and is known to talk to people in riddles until they manage to impress him. Recently there have been rumors of sounds of battle near where he is reported to live, and no one has seen him since. If he is still alive however, he could prove an invaluable asset to the team.

Name: Andra'rkel'nuruodo
Rank: Prima Legatus
Basic Description(simple paragraph): A veteran of previous U.R. campaigns, Arkel is a highly motivated, skilled, ambitious, and experienced military officer. His developed talents in adopting to the unorthodox and pioneering original tactics will be invaluable in this particular operation. A graduate of the CEDF's commando schools, he is capable, albeit untried in ground warfare and infantry operations.

Note: Not really sure how much of a role he can play, as he's a fleet officer and this seems more of like a commando operation...maybe he could help coordinate or be the "cavalry" as needed? Can still fight on the ground though, maybe we could play off that.

Name: Nephill Kilner
Rank: Military Adviser/Liaison
Basic Description: An extremely talented warrior, Neph is on short term "loan" from the Mandalorian Protectors to strengthen the relationship between the Clans and the Chiss Ascendancy. Hardened and skilled, he is one of the best the Mandalorians have to offer: a product of their lifelong training and of the Second Mandalorian Civil War. Able to keep up (albeit barely) even alongside the Immortal supersoldiers.

Anyways hope we can get roles for both of em. I want to be involved in this as much as possible.

I must say you really outdid yourself on this one! TOO EPIC. Really well put together and set up...The pictures are all perfect too. Anyways, super siked for this one. Lots of potential if it takes off and the right people sign on and alla that. Hopefully Arkel will have enough to do, he misses the Regions

Name: Elspet'Ecclesia
Rank: Prima Legatus
Basic Description(simple paragraph):

SMALL BIO:
Elspet, the former leader of the immortals, and survivor of the phoenix Virus before the order was re-ordered and her skills were better placed in the military. Now holding high rank and high family she mainly runs her operations out of various laboratories, though a genius when it comes to nuclear and neural science even amongst the Chiss, she is one of the Chiss' leading minds, as well as former child of war and great fighter.

PERSONA:
Elspet has a sunny disposition which is quite easily switched, her neural band allows her to maintain the operating function of her brain at perfectly equal. Meaning she can often switch between logic and creativity. Though to be noted her outward focus is known to be a façade. Sun-shiney personality is a known sign to her using the darker and more logical side of her brain, and her more logical appears outwardly when in need for craft and innovation.

Name: Nasiri Lavii
Rank: High Immortal
Basic Description: The current leader of the Immortal Legions and a former Jedi, Nasiri Lavii represents the oft-forgotten side of the Immortals - their covert special operations units. While the spectacle of their overwhelmingly devastating drop-suit assaults is well-known, the Immortals have equally elite infiltration units and counter-Force operators. Cunning, deceptive, manipulative, but ultimately honorable and a steadfast adherent to the Creed of the Immortals and resolute in her defense of the Ascendancy through methods glorious or not, Nasiri perhaps best exemplifies those lesser-known Immortals. Given her reservations against the war with the Alliance, she jumped at the chance to deal with another threat and personally headed up the Immortal response to the attacks on 244Core. Though she brought a Legion with her, she knows full well that this is likely to be a problem resolved not with overwhelming force but with cunning and guile - a delightful intellectual challenge.

Name: Mara (Slice)
Rank: Undefined (Shadow Walker)
Basic Description(simple paragraph):
She lost her parents at a young age to a pirate attack, but was saved, adopted, raised and trained by Martel. He has become something more than a father figure for her, being an example and a sort of an idol to her. Being strongly affiliated to technologies, she imminently became a great hacker. Brilliant and well-read, while she is not the best shot, or the best fighter, she believes there are few who can speak to computers and other artificials better than her.

Name: Jazal Nak

Basic Description(simple paragraph): A Nagai swordsman who follows a strict code of honor in battle. Jazal is focused mainly upon challenging those things and peoples who are stronger than him, taking their very existence as an affront and offense to his own. He will not cease until he is the strongest, or he is dead. One slight doctors note: He fatigues a bit quicker than most in battle due to bad lungs.
