The bolt struck true. Bast’s shoulder seared with pain and she stumbled, dropping her rifle to clutch it. If it were not for her armor, part of the ranger’s exo-spine could have also been damage, leaving her paralyzed. Thankfully, the Sith didn’t seem to prey on or even notice the weakness. Still, tears slid down her face and she fought back nausea from the smell of burning flesh. The wound was deep and smoking. Her arm had gone limp, useless. The pain was dizzying. The evil force user simply had walked past her, clearly no longer viewing her as a threat.

A rare, cold, quiet rage boiled up within Bast. So many had died. So many had taken the opportunity to flee. The opportunity she had helped buy. But she knew there were still more. She could not and would not flee now, insulted by the Sith legionnaire. It was her duty to stay and fight. Too many rangers had been injured and she was still alive. Bast was going to make herself useful.

She took one of the three small frag grenades on her belt and threw it with her uninjured dominant arm down the hall (@Versok) At worst, it would buy the others a few seconds without the Sith. At best, it would injure him or collapse a wall, forming a barrier. Then, she dove behind the nearest wall, taking cover before the blast.

The Kel Dor had expected Ender to dart past, but he had overlooked another Jedi coming in. He was too focused on Talak to note the flames being redirected, watching for the sweeping attack that came in. Malice and hatred fueling him, the Sith leapt over the saber as it passed underneath him. Talak’s movements were sluggish with exhaustion and a weak arm combined.

The Kel Dor swept his blade downwards as he landed back on his feet, intended to slice directly through the injured arm in one fluid motion. However, committing to this attack also made it so he couldn’t have prepared for the incoming saber extension from the Jedi that appeared to be too far away. The Kel Dor cried out in agony as the point of the blade pierced into his shoulder, and he responded by reflexively blasting the Jedi back with the Force hard enough to slam him into the wall behind him.

Pain and agony coursed through him as smoke rose from the hole in his shoulder. The grasp on his saber was weak, and he quickly called Talak’s saber into his left hand to ignite it. The labored breathing and the forceful cries caused a small chunk of the mask to pop out. There was an active leak and he had to work hard to breathe.

However, Sol wouldn’t go down without fighting till his last breath. He coiled the Force around Talak and attempted to toss him back directly towards the Jedi. This was to ensure that Jedi couldn’t do anything without Talak getting in the way. At the same time, Sol burst forth and crossed the blades in his hands into an X. As he came in within range, he slashed them out laterally in an attempt to bisect through Talak and potentially the Jedi both.

Sol’s movements were far more sluggish than before, and he was getting desperate with his attacks. However, that didn’t make the approach any lethal. The Jedi and Talak would have to think and adapt quick to the situation.

It seemed that Riz had saved his life at that moment, and he would forever be grateful for her act of courage--I remember meeting you on Ruul (@Rizkacha), I was pretty drunk that day. I said I needed a break to get away from the kids and you came walking in looking for the long dead smuggler of my master's own ship. You didn't know the Force then, but now look at you kid, you've got stones of a Rancor...

He could feel his vision slowly blurring as he stumbled past the door and the firing ranger, he wasn't sure why he was thinking these things. Maybe I'm dying, or maybe I'm senile... He thought back to the situation on Yavin-4, with the Homicidal Droids that sought the destruction of the Jedi, and how @Saul Devan had jumped in with little thought, ready to save him and Mila that day, and here he was saving him now. I still feel bad about Ifrane, I'm sorry pal.

He saw @Kal Zyn Dross run past him armed with his blaster, he knew the man from their time on Corellia, as they attempted to track down the criminals who had butchered their men. Sorry I didn't know how to use that datapad, I should probably have learned..But, I always made excuses.

His insides burned with chunks of metal as his mechanical hand had slowly became stained with his blood. He could feel her life force fighting and attempting to stay alive. He needed to turn back, he wanted to at that moment, but knew she would have hated him for it--he could hear her sharp sarcastic voice coming back to him. This is what she would have wanted, what they always wanted--he only regretted that he didn't say the words back to her before the battle began, It's another thing you'll have to live with you sorry son of a kriff. He shuffled into the hallway when he felt her connection cut through the force, and the snap of a saber hummed through his ears.

A shiver ran down his spine, and he knew she was dead, his hand trembled slightly as he walked, and he heard the sound come crashing forward and he heard the remains of her flesh and bone roll in front of his feet. He peered towards the ceiling as he walked for a moment, afraid to look, and all he saw was his master--the man he had refused to see on his death bed. She died a warrior's death..you owe her that much. He coughed, blood dripping from his mouth as he forced himself to peer down as he slowly walked away. taking in the flesh and the draining blood from her once sweet face. Death, yet the Force. He tried to remind himself, as he took the image in.

The smell of Naboo Cider filled his nostrils, and the gentle words of her "Hey". He felt the shiver of the Ice and the flashing of lights all those years before his arrest. He turned away as he stepped out of sight and down the hallway, each step limping as he tried his best to get away from it all.

He could feel the gentle ocean breeze of Rishi against his face, the one day he cherished more than anything. He took a heavy breath, as he slowly made his way towards the exit, feeling a few passing rangers slowly take him around his arms as they ran towards the exit stations. Rejoice for those around you who transform into the force..these words are hard, but I know you're in a better place, and I'll remember the words you gave me, always. Goodbye Nashyr.. He couldn't remember much, as he slowly blacked out, as he was lead away and onto one of the emergency Ranger ships.

Talak could feel waves of emotion flowing over him even in his fight. Ender's rage and betrayal hit him almost like a blow, but it wouldn't last long. Soon Talak would be dead, and it would be finished. They had been through so much together, but their paths... they had diverged long ago. He regretted so much. He regretted bringing Ender into the Sith from the outside and turning him into the monster he had become.

His slash found nothing but air and it took him a moment to register that the burning sensation in his arm... changed. For a moment, he felt nothing and then an overwhelming, horrid pain. Worse perhaps than anything else he'd felt before in his life.

He looked down at what was left of his arm, and half of it wasn't there. It was laying on the ground and he felt shock. This was the end. He hadn't even noticed Hannibal arrive, and for a moment he thought it was his imagination.

He took a deep, gasping breath. He could feel the Force gripping him again, but now the agony turned to rage. That same feeling of weakness and helplessness that he'd always hated poured through him. The darkness was supposed to prevent that, but it couldn't even deliver on a single, measly promise.

The Force stretched from his fingers, digging into the ground and turning the hurl backwards into a slide across the ground. He knew he only had seconds left. He knew that soon he would be completely spent, but he couldn't quit now.

He pushed himself up, barely able to keep his feet under him as the Kel Dor charged forward once again. He had no weapon. He had nothing to block the attack with, so he did the Frodo in order to drop under the attack. He fell to the ground, onto his butt instead of his side, and reached out with the Force. The final bit of his energy wrapped around the Kel Dor's uninjured saber arm. It would slow any attack or defense from the Champion. One arm. That was all he had to keep at bay. Not even stop, but even just slowing it could be lethal when split second duel timing was critical.

The hissing from the mask would give away to Hannibal that it was weak, and hopefully he knew enough about Kel Dor to hit it.

These foes we’re beyond them, certainly as they were now. As allies fell beside him or were injured in their turn, Saul knew they needed to run, run for the lives that Force willing they’d be able to keep longer than another moment. Though at this moment it felt scarcely like he’d keep his own at all.

With his attempt to save Nash failing, he steeled himself a moment longer, the shame and disappointment could come after they were free. He needed to move now, as the darkness encroached and threatened to engulf those who were left.

But feeling the tug of the Force on his arms, he turned back to the apprentices back at his left now. He could feel the power wrapping round his arms as the other unleashed a burst of lightning that screamed toward him. While on his right front one of Calix’s apprentices shot toward him in a flash, their glowing lightsaber though was what let him keep track.

As Saul began to flee to the exit he pushed back with the Force against the stasis around his hand, freeing his lightsaber, which he used to deflect the bolt of lightning that shot toward him, swatting it instead over at the rapidly approaching apprentice who threatened to bisect him. They’d need to deal with that before they could strike at him at all, and all Saul needed to do was buy time, for he wasted none in dashing for the exit.

If Roan’s apprentices, or anyone else, tried anything as he fled, his free hand would blast a wave of Force energy at them to stagger them and let him Run away unmolested through same gate as Thalia and the others. From the calls of the Champions it seemed that perhaps he’d be allowed to flee, and truly he prayed they weren’t lying. Either way he kept his lightsaber high and at the ready for any more attacks coming his way or at his allies. He was one of the few uninjured now it seemed, it fell to him to get them out.

Many had been spared that day, even if they’d lost some of their own. It didn’t feel like a victory, but he had to remember that now it else fall into despair at once again failing in the face of the Dark Side.

Hannibal gritted his teeth, his momentary triumph interrupted by the retaliatory push back. But he was determined and far less tired than the other two. He grounded himself in the Force to resist being tossed, his feet leaving the ground for a moment before touching back down with his boots skidding across the floor, ending up fairly behind and to the left of the Arcanist but avoided hitting the wall. Good enough. His lightsaber returned to its normal length as he went, right foot stepping back to cancel the leftover momentum at the end and regain his guard stance.

The Force flowed through his body, enhancing and strengthening it as he prepared for his next move, energy gathering in his right hand. Hannibal wasn't as strong in the Force as his opponent, but that mask wasn't looking so good and they had an injured shoulder. He was too far to keep grounded and still engage safely, so he decided on something else.
"Kark my goddamn life" he thought to himself as the kel'dor started forward in his attack, Hannibal's legs bending and saber drawing back in preparation to do something he absolutely hated doing.

To meet the kel'dor's dashing attack he launched himself forward and through the air down the hall, flying over the Arcanist's left shoulder and dropping downwards to intercept their opponent. Hannibal's saber slashed down vertically to meet the horizontal swing of the kel'dor's injured right arm in a classic force-enhanced Falling Avalanche. The Knight's strike was meant to drive the kel'dor's lightsaber down and away from Talak and Hannibal both, more likely to overpower the attack because of the shoulder wound. A moment later Hannibal's right hand shot forward to unleash a telekinetic blast aimed at the kel'dor's unguarded face and leaking mask with as much power as he could muster, trying to break or at least remove it.

He would tire quicker doing all this, but he had started in better shape than these two to begin with. Hopefully he didn't need to fight long and his maneuver would get them closer to ending this.

Sol felt the Force push his arm to the side, but he was relentless in his approach. The other saber stayed on trajectory and he kept pushing in. His eyes widened when Talak abruptly dropped to the ground, and he couldn’t have anticipated the Jedi to spring up from behind him. It was a perfectly synced, concerted combination he had no way of seeing. The surprise was clear in his eyes as the Jedi’s blade slammed his own down.

Within a flash, the Jedi also landed a blow directly on the mask that was already weakened. This sent the Kel Dor reeling back away from them both, the last bits of the mask shattering to bits. He could no longer breathe, and he was wheezing as he stumbled back. However, he mustered up all his rage and last bits of strength to glare at the two and unleash a final attack.

Dropping the weapons, he collected the last reserves of the Force and unleashed a powerful blast of fire towards them both. It was intended to engulf them in flames. He yelled as he did so, feeling the constricting weight of being a fish out of water.

He didn’t have the energy to see the impacts of his attack, dropping to his knees and hunching over. The Kel Dor wheezed and rattled in his labored breathing, his vision growing rapidly blurry, “...The Force….. Shall…..free...me…” He whispered, the life rapidly escaping him. He had done the Eternal’s work, he had done the Sith’s work. The mission was complete. He had done his duty, serving till his last breath. His comrades would feel his Force presence fade.

Calix heard the message from Sol and quickly responded, stopping his advance and enhancing his voice with the Force. "We are heading out! NOW!" he demanded both verbally and through telepathy to any Sith in the area below Champion rank(@Versok), his harsh and commanding tone leaving no impression this was a suggestion. Ender's escape was much of the reason they were here, and they didn't need to stick around until the local defense force showed up with a small army and air support.

Besides, they were going to blow the place to hell on their way out.

Most of the opposition had left by this point, so Calix didn't bother chucking his charged fireball into the doorway. Instead he turned and pointed it behind him, shaping it further and launching it at an exterior wall away from any planted explosives. The concentrated, brightly glowing orb impacted the wall and blew it outwards in a rush of flame, acting as a shaped breaching charge. He walked towards the new exit and prepared to leave the prison behind, quite irritated with how much effort it had taken to get Ender out. At least the Eternal rewarded loyalty and hard work.

Meanwhile, one of the Jedi(@Nightfall ) was in the midst of a combined attack. While he seemed prepared to defend, he'd missed the burst of lightning from Jerex coming in from behind. The lightning struck home, burning through his body and causing searing pain and muscle spasms, breaking his concentration and movement. As a result, the assault of the three apprentices went on unmolested.

The Jedi's saber arm was held in stasis by one, he was struck with another burst of flesh-scorching lightning by a second, and Calix's fast-striking apprentice dashed into the resulting opening. Her crimson blade struck home, burning through his torso at the waist as she passed by and bisecting him into top and bottom halves that flopped to the ground, destined to die where he fell.

Calix's apprentice then tossed her satchel of explosives down against a nearby wall and moved to quickly follow her master, knowing well the punishment for failing to follow instructions. If he said it was time to leave, it was time to leave or else.

Riz'kacha could feel danger mounting as the Champion gathered the energy for the attack, and she had to question whether or not she could survive trying to block to protect the others in the hallway or if she was better off running. But then, all at once, the danger was gone. She wasn't going to question it. The force had provided a means for her escape, though she could feel other Jedi weren't so lucky.

Truth be told, she hadn't known Nash for long, but she was looking forward to her teachings. She would have to go on and carry on the Cathar's memory with her, and keep what little she had been taught as well. A mentor's legacy lives on in its students. Normally she would have more to reflect on, but her body was protesting against her movements. A crawling heat continued to ravage the woman as she continued to move, stumble-running as best she could to safety. The reflection would come later. For now, it was all she could do to keep moving to safety. BD was going to have his nonexistent hands full.

It seemed too good to be true. The fact that his arm being cut off and half his body being burned could still qualify as a "good" outcome told you a lot about his day.

But Hannibal had done it. The hit had landed, and the Champion was choking on the oxygen of this world. As he was sent back, luckily Talak hadn't had much resistance to overcome in holding Sol's arm, so whatever tiny amount of energy he had left, he poured out to stop the attack he saw from the Champion.

The barrier was weak. It allowed a great deal of the flame through, but it would at least lessen the effect of what Hannibal had to deal with. Oh kriff, he hoped Hannibal was still going to be there... if not, he was a dead man. And a fried one at that.

Kriffer took my lightsaber, he muttered deliriously as blackness pulled at his vision. He wanted his lightsaber back. Kriff, am I going to be arrested? Typical... The last of his effort was spent and the inky blackness swallowed his vision. Time and consequences would have to wait.

When Roan heard the command to leave from @Sol Puara, she frowned. She was having a lot of fun and wasn't happy that it was already over. What a waste, there was so much more they could reap from here but she was loyal to The Eternal and did as she was commanded.

She started to turn towards the new exit, though noticed her three apprentices round the corner and look at her. They weren't dumb enough to defy Calix, but they ultimately looked to their master for her confirmation of the order. Roan grunted and nodded towards them before fully turning and walking out. She kept her saber out just in case, but she doubted there'd be anymore fun to be had today.

Once she got outside she keep walking, but held out her hand. One of her apprentices placed the trigger for the dets in it, and Roan started to mentally countdown in her head. "One...two...three...four..." Once she got to twenty, she'd blow the prison to high hell. Anyone near the bombs would likely die. Anyone close to the side of the building where the bombs were would likely be caught in rubble or skewered by it, as that side would totally collapse from the destruction of it's lower structure.

Success! Hannibal's combination of a legitimate attack and dirty tricks had come to fruition, striking the mask to splinters off the kel'dor's face. Once again, his triumph was short lived. The Dark Side was gathering in the kel'dor Champion, a roiling mass of hate and anger heating the air. That wasn't good. That much power would be a problem to deal with. This could be the end of him after all.

The Jedi Knight didn't hesitate, dropping his lightsaber and darting right in front of the fallen Arcanist. Both hands shot out, one at face level and the other in front of his chest. He could feel Talak's attempt at making a barrier with what he had left in him, and Hannibal could use all the help he could get at this moment. Face set in an expression of utmost determination he let the Force surge through him, putting everything he had into a shining barrier wedge that diverted the slightly weakened flame around himself and Talak, leaning forward into it to keep balance. Of course, this did little about the heat.

Hannibal could feel skin on his shoulders, arms, and thighs burning at the heat as the flames seemed to pass by in slow motion, though Talak would probably be at least mostly unaffected. He grit his teeth, leaning into them with more fervor. Every cell in his body felt like it was on fire and going numb at the same time, coming up on Force exhaustion very quickly in the face of the burning assault.

Then it was over as quick as it came. Hannibal stumbled forward from the sudden lack of resistance and found his legs wouldn't support his weight, falling towards the breathless body of the kel'dor. He barely caught himself on his burned and shaking arms, panting with the effort before they gave out too. They'd done it, and they weren't dead. Not dead was good.

Somewhere behind him he dimly heard the Arcanist mention a lightsaber, and Hannibal's eyes focused on the hilt that had been in the kel'dor's left hand. Almost automatically his shaking arm reached out to take hold of the unfamiliar weapon, bare fingers closing around the hilt and pulling it closer. He'd finally gotten a hold of the damn thing, after all this time.

Almost unbidden but not unwanted, echoes of the past rushed through his fingers, a chaotic torrent of memory and emotion from the Arcanist's history. Hannibal could make no sense of it in his state, something for later, and he could rapidly feel the exhaustion taking hold. Darkness closed in at the edges of his vision and his eyes closed, the living world replaced by dreams brought to him through the Living Force.

"I know who you are." he whispered mindlessly, and then the blackness swept him away.

At least they were on the opposite side of the building from the explosives.

Thalia never felt herself push so hard. Her vision was narrow, her mind was flooded with the sheer will of her to get out and get to safety. The guilt and regret chasing her with every labored step as she reached the docking bay and board transport. In her state of shock, she almost misinterpreted those feelings as though the apprentices had followed her. Onward she would push though. It wasn't even her own emotions that seemed to swirl in her mind, there were things she could feel that once more she couldn't explain and she wished so much that Max was present to help her sort it.

There were still others evacuating, mostly the injured, her among them as she felt someone pick her up and help her on the ramp. She tried to resist, insisting she could do it on her own. The ringing in her ears silenced her world, time was no longer consistent, images blurred, but she would make it, she had to.

With so many blows coming in against him, it was inevitable he'd be unable to act against them all. He was only human after all.

As the lightning shocked through his system and the blade of the lightsaber closed in, Saul did not blink. His thoughts turned to those that ran now, hopefully with enough time to see themselves clear of the building, of these Sith who had returned from nowhere, the explosions that were to follow. If he had at least bought some of that time for them, that they'd see this galaxy redeemed even as his vision clouded to darkness, well...

It would be the comfort he'd take to the grave. And the only thing that didn't leave this as another failure for him in the face of Darkness.

No, such was what he'd accepted when he'd accepted the teachings of the Jedi, what he knew he'd had to do ever since his body had burned in the fires of Ifrane. He'd been a new person after that, one dedicated to at least doing something.

Fitting then that persons last moments would be in fire once more, as explosions would engulf the prison, fiery bookends to his short life in the galaxy.

It seemed like Jerex either underestimated the ranger (@Kestrel) or overestimated her will to live, but either way, his overconfidence would make it so he wouldn't leave unscathed, the only reason the old legionnaire wouldn't be gravely injured was thanks to the fact that he started turning around as soon as one of the champions announced that the mission was over and it was time to retreat, being able to notice the grenade landing near him. His hand extended as he called the force with a concentration and hurry unprecedented before in this battle, moving as far away from the grenade as he could while creating a barrier in order to protect him, and then...the grenade would go boom.

Jerex would still be standing, although in worse condition, the barrier wasn't powerful enough to fully protect him, shrapnel in some parts of his body, burns in the arm that he used to create the barrier, his mask now partially broken, one of his sickly yellow eyes now unhidden, a few strands of long grey hair blowing in the wind. "Splending, truly commendable!" He exclamated, praising the ranger for her actions before letting out a maniacal chuckle followed by a bloody cough, the deep voice that came from the mask now slightly distortioned and mixing with his jovial old tone. Jerex would go back with his people, moving as fast as he could with his current injuries wishing not to be there when things started to explode, even with his injuries, he should be able to make it in time, he was ahead, but not that far ahead. The ranger would have to do the same if she wanted to survive.

As he did, even if he was still wary because he didn't want the ranger to catch him by surprise once more, Jerex couldn't help but admire the chaos around him, the corpses of rangers and jedi that died valiantly defending the prison, one of them dead because of him. Those fallen enemies were truly great, their heroic deaths made the galaxy, and the dark side, stronger, they didn't die for nothing, not from his deranged point of view, at least.

The prison shook with an explosion as Bast ran. She felt the wave of heat but had fortunately escaped the blast of her grenade. Although she desperately wanted to know whether the Sith had gotten his justice, she knew she needed to retreat. Clutching her shoulder to staunch the flow of blood from the vessels not cauterized by the shot, Bast ran down the endless maze of halls until, by some miracle, she was in the light of day. She had made it out, so the ranger would simply have to bite back at her sense of failure for losing ground. It was not fair others had died. Skilled Jedi, devoted rangers, even misguided Sith, had simply fallen on the wrong side of fortune.

Very little could move the woman. She spent her days analyzing tragedy and murder. Still, the adrenaline in her system and the sound of quiet weeping stirred a sorrow in her. Bast bowed her head in grief.
