Raith had been called once more to teach someone. He had gotten out of the class business and decided it was best to simply seek people out themselves. He was better at this anyway. Less stupid questions and more results, probably because the student had more one on one time and didn't lose their train of thought. Either way. He had a special plan for tonight's lesson. A special plan indeed. It seemed one of the newer recruits lacked any power. So he thought he'd give them a nice lesson in sneaking around. Force Cloak was a basic application of the Force. Hiding one's signature in the Force to avoid being sensed. Around the room there were crystals that would glow when in contact with the Force in a specific radius. They overlapped in the center of the room, but otherwise they covered all the quads.

It wasn't an entirely useless skill. Especially in these trying times. Raith was a very, very, careful man. He never tipped his hand, and he never spoke out of turn. He analyzed every step he took, literally and metaphorically, with the sternest of eyes and the most critical of thoughts. So for him, an ability like this was critical, he needed it. He stressed protection to all Acolytes, but held his Apprentice to a higher standard.

He would teach this Acolyte a skill, but only after they proved worth his time. If they failed this test, there was no reason for him to waste time here. He was an Arcanist, just a breath away from Lord status. Unlike Crusaders, he didn't have an infinite amount of time to toss to the wind. He had plans in motion even now, things on hold for this single sentient being.

So for their sake, he hoped the Acolyte passed.

He leaned against the wall at the far side of the room, levitating a book in front of him. They were hard to find, but books were a rarity that he enjoyed, and he paid handsomely for recreations as well.

Qattat still wasn't used to being an acolyte, she felt wrong, but she didn't feel as if she had anything else to do, she didn't have any purpose, and she hated that she knew that someone had taken an interest in her, and it terrified her, she didn’t want to be a slave, and as she saw it, if someone was interested in a Cathar, sooner or later, they would enslave that Cathar.
It’s not the time for all of that, now it’s time for training, she didn’t care much for the sith, but training, she loved that, anything that would make her stronger, that, she loved, strength.
She was asked to go to the Korriban academy, and she got there, when it came to orders, she would never defy one; she lacked the willpower for it. Once there she had to go to a room, she didn’t knew much about it, only that the room was going to be the place where Qattat was going to get stronger, as soon as she entered the room, the air felt like it was pressurized, kind of heavy, she saw a guy, at the other side of the room, leaning against a wall with a book in his hand, but he wasn’t truly grabbing it, it was more like if it were levitating, reading it. He didn’t seemed bother by the presence of Qattat, and he probably felt her when she entered the room, Qattat smelled him from afar, he didn’t smelled like a prey, yet he didn’t seemed like a predator at plain sight, Qattat knew that walking to the center of the room, would show this man, trust, and she didn’t trust him, not now and probably not soon, so she tried to flank him, she wasn’t concealed, or hiding, but she felt like she was flanking him, as soon as she reached for the closest corner of the room, a sudden light surprised Qattat, could it be an explosion? She fell right to the trap, and quickly she jumped away from the sudden burst of light, only to find herself in the middle of the room, when she looked back to the light source, she saw it was a crystal, now every corner was emitting light, she still didn’t understood it, , so she did something she rarely does, she asked for help and said “Hey, guy reading, what is that? Who are you? I’m Qattat Wyrdscar, What is that?” and she remained sitting in the middle of the room, waiting for an answer

As the feline entered, Raith didn't flinch. If he even knew she had entered he didn't show any signs.

Of course he knew she had entered the room. He wouldn't be much of a Sith Master if he didn't sense her. He observed her through the book looking beyond it with his Sight. Her surprise at the crystal was amusing to say the least. She reeked of caution and distrust. Her mind was screaming it and she stood out like a beacon in his mind. How cute. He wondered if this was how the late Assassin Nox felt when they went on their first assignment together. The thought brought the briefest of smiles to his lips for a moment before it was gone.

Her words pulled him back to reality and he lowered the book just slightly. If he were human then his eyes would be showing, but he wasn't human and Miraluka didn't have eyes. His krayt bone eye mask was a symbol around these halls, as one of the few Miraluka he was easily identifiable as is. This trait was furthered by his eyegear. All Miraluka covered their missing eyes, not out of shame, but out of respect for others. They didn't wish to disturb others with their appearance. As a result, Miraluka, when in small numbers such as this, were easily identifiable. Whether this girl knew him by whispers or not was irrelevant to him however. Her speach made him chuckle. It was refreshing to hear. She didn't honey him with stupid words meant to earn her favor. She simply spoke her mind.

"Acolyte Wyrdscar, when you can get the crystals to stop glowing, your questions will be answered. Until then, your questions had better be more aligned with how to do your assigned task."

This led to Raith's second most identifiable trait. His voice. Inside him he had imprisoned the spirit Erchitu. So as a result when he spoke, her voice spilled out as well echoing his words. Her feminine and clear voice was heavy with a Dathomir accent. His own gentle and even voice e complimented her's almost perfectly. He smiled behind his book and tilted his head slightly. "Tell me, do you know how to silence your vibrations in the Force? "

Qattat looks puzzled, and thinks "Am I going to have to wait until the crystals run out of power to get an answer? that could take some time" completely unaware that the crystal's power source was her own power source, the force within her was fueling it, she felt it, yet she didn't knew what she was feeling. Qattat was waiting, and she noticed that the crystals were not getting dimmer, they were exactly the same as the first time she got to the center of the room, exactly the same, so she started looking back to the reading guy leaning against the wall, only now she realized that he had no eyes, to her it didn’t matter, a lot of hunters she knew didn’t used their eyes, she knew it was just a luxury, and that mostly eyes, tend to give fake information, the quickest assumption would always be made by one’s eyes, and it’s usually wrong, if you rely only in them, you are going to get killed exceptionally easily anywhere, that’s when the other thing that he said made sense, “to silence one’s vibration in the force” Qattat knew how to hide, her stealth was something she was proud of, but it never occurred to her, that the force had a presence, she would need to learn how to do that, it’s a trait that any hunter needs to know, and maybe even a trait that any prey would need to know, Qattat knew that you are neither a hunter or a prey, but both, so she says “I probably don’t but I’ll try, It’s the only way to hide against someone who doesn’t “see”, right?” and as she said that, she did what she does to stalk a prey, this time, the crystal was her prey, It was kind of a disappointment to know that she wouldn’t get a bite of the crystal, but hey, there’s always tomorrow, this could prove to be the most useful thing for her, she felt as her weight became heavier, a sign that she was one with the ground, she got as close to the floor as possible, thus making her harder to see, and she focused on one crystal, the one that startled her, she wanted to beat that crystal more than any other, and she tensed every muscle in her body, then relaxed them, then she focused her mind on hiding her body, and she did this for several minutes, but nothing, the crystal kept lighting the room, it was even stronger because she was closer to it, but getting away from the crystal for it to turn off, not only would be cheating, but it would probably trigger another crystal, Qattat was getting angry, she exposed her claws, a clear sign that she was about to explode and let her instincts flow, she just couldn’t do it.

The woman was amusing. He wondered if her file was correct. Was she truly Cathar or was she simply a human spliced with too much feline DNA?

He grinned at her attempt to hide herself and let her continue trying until her claws came out. She was frustrated. "By letting yourself get so worked up, you've already failed. Controlling the Force is not so different from fighting. If you lose your cool, you're more likely to fail. A calm hand is required to guide the raging tides of the Force, and when it comes to your own u ique thread in the tapestry you must know how to pluck it and reinsert it."

He closed the book and folded his arms loosely across vus chest tilting his head with a smirk. "So, my little feline, clearly you are an adept huntress. Having fallen immediately into a position where you feel you'll win this challenge through strength. But that will not help you when hiding. Also, if you mean to imply that it's the way to hide against someone who doesn't see with physical eyes you're wrong. My kind will always see you. No matter how well you hide. That is a different skill entirely, however. You must learn to silence your mind first. Sit there. Meditate until you can hear to call of the Force. You're in the Academy, so obviously you have some skill. And I see the potential within you. We just have to drag it out. So feel it, Qattat. Feel the Force around you and within you."

The book floated again and opened to his page and he began to read once more.

Qattat didn't spent much time training, at all, and yet, she learned so much in so little time, this guy knew so much, it seemed impossible, he spoke with knowledge, it was inspiring.
Qattat then said “okay, I’ll try” hiding her claws, yet obviously still quite mad, she had to calm down, and she did what she always does when doing that, she started feeling her fur, it was an amusing activity, she counted every little piece of fur over her body, it even started tickling her, she didn’t showed it in her face, but she was having fun now, she felt like a cub, a defenseless cub, and then she started feeling something weird, all around her, it was the heavy air, or that’s what she thought, but it actually was the force, surrounding her, it made so much sense, she could feel it run besides and through her body, but feeling and stopping others from feeling her presence in the force it was a whole different story. Qattat never took the time to just stop and feel the force, until now, it was beautiful, it filled her with joy, Qattat thinks that when she did that the light even got a little brighter, she couldn’t truly tell, but she would like to think that, how could she stop the crystal from giving its light? How could she hide from the crystal, to hide from an object, seemed absurd, she couldn’t do it, but it seemed absurd. The next thing she did was trying to absorb, everything that she was feeling, the force flowing through her, she would try to make a stop to that flowing, in theory it should work, but in practice, well, she was about to see that.
She closed her eyes, sat on her knees and stopped the force to flow through her, and from her, she would now be an obstacle to the force, containing it in her insides, it would no longer flow, and like that she expected to turn off the crystal, without opening her eyes, so she didn’t undo her work, she asked “Like that? Did it work? Is it off?

"Do you know what they tell you when you're at sea and a wave comes barreling towards you? They tell you don't fight it. You're certain to drown that way. Challenging a massive force like that is foolish, but when one panics they do foolish things. Which is why your senses must always be about you."

He didn't put down the book. He didn't even adjust his Sight to take her in more fully. He didn't have to. Her presence was still tugging at his mind, the echo's of the Force alerting him that another Sensitive was around him. Of course such warnings were easily toned out, but he was very much aware they were there. After a moment, and a flip of the page, he continued. "The way to conceal yourself in the Force is no different. What you are doing will only make you a beacon to people. You act as a dam, and thus the energies have nowhere to go but circle inside of you until you burst. Instead be a pebble in the river. Allow yourself to sink to the bottom of the Force. Let it wash over you in it's entirety. Hide yourself in the vast power that is Ashla and Bogan; The Force."

He flipped another page and peered over the book at her.

Qattat was a little embarrassed, she felt weak, but she already knew she was weak in the force, her intellect didn’t surpass almost no one else, that’s why she wanted to learn, she could be as great as she wanted in combat, hunting, or whatever, but that didn’t truly matter now, now it’s the force, the force was the ultimate mean for fighting, any kind of fight, and Qattat knew that, so she said “Sorry, I’ll try harder, I will do it” She totally meant it, she wouldn’t give up now, not at all. She already understood the basics, it was only a matter of doing what she was doing now, but in reverse, she was already feeling the force, she only needed to get the right combination of actions for it to work rightly. She felt the force that was inside of her, that she was containing, and just let it go, but first it was too much, it was like a sudden burst of force, it was hard to make it right, it felt as if there was something that needed to be filled, and that she was filling, she wouldn’t fight it, she had this guy’s words in her mind, be a pebble in the river she whispered “A pebble in the river” it was scary, terrifying even, hard, but that was the point, not to fight, for a fighter is something weird not to fight, but finally it felt good, she didn’t feel to be in a room, she felt everywhere, and nowhere, she even forgot that this was training, it was more like relaxing, if only every day in her life were like that. Peace, that’s how Qattat would describe it, only peace, a sudden wave of awareness came to her, she remembered, the reading guy is still here, and said “What about now? Am I closer? I feel closer, and better” with a peaceful tone, she started to purr while waiting for an answer, it was weird, yet she felt great this way, she hadn’t feel like this in a long time.

The crystals dimmed as she took the words to heart. They didn't stop, but their glow lessened by a noticeable amount. He didn't feel her as heavily in the Force, she was on the right path. She learned quickly, that was good. He was pleased to see her progressing this well, but he would be severely disappointed if she didn't move forward with such a basic skill.

"Better. Keep going. Bury yourself beneath the Force, find your thread and entangle it within the quilt, embrace the Force and exist between the heartbeat of the galaxy." He put the book down, feeling this would be over soon and thus she would pass her test. Or at least the preliminary testing...He needed to see if she could maintain this. It was not unlike meditation. One had to hold this train of thought, this power.

His lips curled slightly into a smile as he anticipated the glow of the crystals dying.
