BIOGRAPHY

The only child of a wealthy family on Dorin, A'ro Saa spent his formative years enjoying the prestige and privilege that came from the innovations in starship components his mother created for Nubia Star Drives. With access to the best teachers and facilities on Dorin, A'ro was quite used to a life of comfort and ease. That all changed when his mothers' designs were bought from NSD by Kuati Drive Yards. The family was forced to move to Kuat so Sha could oversee the modification and installation of the new hyperdrive coupling into KDY's catalog of ships. The family was forced into the Alien Quarter on the outskirts of Kuat City and A'ro was enrolled into a segregated academy, where his inferior status to his human peers was hammered home.

One afternoon after class A'ro stumbled upon a pair of human teenagers throwing stones at an elderly Ithorian, and took it upon himself to defend a fellow alien. The boys ran away with a few new bruises, he helped Mr. Aamaw home, and A'ro considered the matter closed, but what he didn't know was that one of the boys he had beaten was the son of a diplomat from Coruscant. That night, security forces swarmed his apartment block and arrested him on every charge from Assaulting a Human to Disturbing the Peace and Loitering. By the next sunrise he was enroute to a spice mine on Ylesia.

A'ro spent nearly two years in that hellish pit, enduring the worst abuses his jailers could think of without having to "sully their hands with his alien filth." The non-humans in the camp had quickly rallied amongst each other, struggling to find what comfort they could in the apalling conditions. Life continued on this way for some time until a group of ships came sailing over the horizon with laser cannons blazing. Willing to take a chance on being safer with pirates than the Imperial jailers, A'ro stowed away aboard the ship and a few days later - after being discovered sleeping in a ventilation duct - discovered that he was not in the presence of pirates but a group dedicated to seeing the Sith Empire fall; and that he was not the only stowaway.

The years spent fighting alongside Hugo Ion under the command of Captain Rainer aboard The Starbird were some of the best years of his life, but they were not to last. Another cell desperately needed a good pilot, and so it was with enormous regret that A'ro said goodbye to his truest friend, and the ship that had saved them, in service of the Rebellion. A'ro spent the following years moving between cells, offering his abilities as a pilot where it was needed and building up a repertoire of skills including demolitions, sabotage, and occasionally assassination. Any chance to strike at the Sith was a chance worth taking, and he had become quite good at it.

PERSONALITY AND TRAITS
Bold, cocky, and reckless are some of the words most would use to describe a fighter jockey, and A'ro fits them to a t. A whole-hearted believer in the righteousness of the Alliance's cause, A'ro has seen and done many terrible things for the Cause. Some of those discoveries and decisions haunt his dreams to this very day, but he consoles himself with the knowledge that the actions he has taken He still prefers to be in the company of non-humans due to the treatment he received while living in Republica space, but he's come to terms with the fact that there are poodoo people in every species.

Despite the camaraderie and friends he has made in the Rebellion, A'ro still finds himself fitting into the role of the aloof loner more often than not; the limitations of his biology creating a barrier that cannot easily be navigated. In the privacy of his climate-controlled cabin, he is able to remove his rebreather and pursue one of his few passions outside of defeating the Sith - music.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

A'ro, like many of the ragtag members of a fledgling Rebellion, has an eclectic mix of skills; partially due to a confluence of different skills to draw from, but more often than not because there were not enough hands to dedicate to one task. A gifted pilot, the Kel Dor was quickly forced to begin learning the ins and outs of repairing, maintaining, and upgrading the parts and systems of the ship if he wanted to be able to fly it. As one of the few cell members with formal martial arts training, A'ro found himself in the position of training other rebels in the fighting arts as he himself continued his education, resulting in a strange hybrid of Kel Dor blade fighting, Teras Kasi, and a handful of other disciplines - including, oddly enough, Wookiee wrestling.

His work as a saboteur for the Rebellion has given him a more than passing familiarity with explosives and demolitions and, while he's never been a good shot at long ranges, the Kel Dor is deadly to all Imperials within range of his twin blaster pistols.

Equipment:

  • The Starsong - A 35-Series Light Freighter, the Starsong was an aging, though lovingly maintained relic, and was A'ro's pride and joy. It was destroyed by Imperial authorities after A'ro was forced to leave it behind in the aftermath of the Strike on Corellia.
