NPC player is Xyrael. objectives are here

As he entered the new virtual reality, his stomach was thrown for a loop a bit, for this was the first time in such a machine. He found outside of a small building with Republic insignias on it, as well as a soldier on guard outside. It was a robust building with only a few ports for windows, and they were heavily reinforced. He had been read-in on his 'mission' and knew what to do. First his eyes darted around, and it was not long before he saw a transport shuttle land some distance away, about a kilometer, Northwest of their current position.

He looked at the surroundings for a few moments. They were surrounded by dense coniferous trees in a circle around the base. The entrance of the base faced west and there was a single road going north. Their escape would be more difficult than he had hoped. They would have do dispatch all of the enemy soldiers in order to get out alive, and he would have to be the one to face the Sith.

"Soldier, take cover and keep an eye out." He ordered while swiftly walking passed him. Inside the lobby there were 2 soldiers conversing idly with each other. "We have company. Go and take cover outside; don't go far. Keep them from getting in until we're ready to leave." He said this while walking passed them, expecting them to follow orders. When they hesitated for a moment, no doubt due to his young age, he followed up with, "Now! Unless you want the fall of the Alliance on your head!" His authority clearly shocked them, but they went outside, though not nearly as quickly as he would have liked.

Inside the mess hall there were 8 more soldiers sitting about chatting amongst themselves. All but one were in similar uniform to the 3 he had already encountered. This last one didn't have a rife, but instead 2 enhanced and upgraded pistols as well as an array of grenades and a vibroknife. He was also dressed differently in that his armor allowed for greater range of motion than the others that were more for taking shots. "Commander, a Sith with a small band of stormtroops has landed for the communications we've been working on." He paused for a moment, pushing his senses out with the force to feel the number. The sith, for this was his first 'real/fake' encounter with one, was intensely dark and clouding his 'vision'. He realized that in reality, it would be exponentially increased from what he felt now. However, he could make out the Sith as well as 8 stormtroopers. He was glad that the simulation hadn't decided to through a few more in there.

The Commander rose quickly, "What are your orders Sir?" He knew his position and was glad that there wasn't going to be any insurrection from the soldiers. At this point, the remaining 4 soldiers were exiting the armory, getting their equipment ready. The base wasn't large and they overheard what Akacen had said.

"Get your men ready. I want 2 of you to join the other 3 outside, bring extra grenades and detonators. Stay under cover and be ready to retreat back inside the compound. Take out as many as you can. I want 4 in the lobby; your job is to cover the retreat of the others that come back inside. I want 2 in the barracks, 2 in the armory and the rest of you in the communications room. Commander, go and keep me informed on what's happening outside." And with that, they started to disperse as ordered. There were 2 short, small metal walls placed for cover outside on either side of the entrance. After 2 soldiers ran left, into the armory, along with the other 2 that would stay there, and got extra supplies, they and the Commander proceeded outside. The Commander and a soldier took the one on the left (farther from the path), while 2 others took the one on the right. One was inside the entrance looking around the outside. They were all looking around, ready for them to come from any direction.

4 of the soldiers were in the lobby, behind tipped tables and chairs behind makeshift walls. They were relaxed but ready for the attack. 2 soldiers went left into the barracks with their rifles poking out towards the entrance to the mess hall. The remaining 2 went straight back into the communications room with Akacen. "Erase all the files and get ready to leave." He told the man and woman in the room tersely before going back out into the mess hall. The 2 soldiers remained there guarding the door.

He went to the Armory and noticed the emptiness of the room. They would be pressed. This couldn't turn into a siege, or they would surely lose. He looked around and noticed there was only one high window that was relatively small. "Keep an eye on that window." He wasn't going to leave anything to chance. Though he wasn't much of a soldier. Or a soldier at all, he had his smarts, and he would use them to his advantage. There was no secret hatch or anything in the room; it was completely sealed.

With that he left and entered the barracks. It was a decent size for the contingent assigned here. The lofts were all against the walls with dressers in between for the men and women. There were 2 larger windows in here, but like the armory, they were a good 20 feet off the ground. "Keep watch of the windows." He repeated this to these 2, but would keep an eye on them as it would be a bit more difficult for them. Looking around a bit more, he noticed that this room was also sealed. He was a bit unnerved at the lack of an emergency exit.

With that, he walked out to the lobby, his cloak swirling behind him, and noticed that there were no windows here. He was pleased, looking at the soldiers ready for their task. With this, he turned on his heel, and looked around the main room. It had higher ceilings than the other rooms, and there were windows, and though quite large, they were about 50 feet off the ground. He had no doubt that the walls could be scaled, but the reinforced glass(whatever material they're made out of) would be a bit difficult to get through. Though, a simple detonator could blast through them. These windows would be his charge.

He walked back to the communications room, and looked around. It was a small room with low ceilings and no windows. It was bright only for the screens that the specialists were now frantically flicking through deleting file after file. He looked around, trying to find something, anything that would be a secret exit. "Is there another way out of here?" He asked, almost frantically but keeping his cool for the most part. It was mostly a rhetorical question as he kept looking around. "Sir, there's a hatch in that corner." a soldier said pointing to the back left corner of the room.

He quickly moved over there and lifted it. He couldn't at first; it was too heavy. However, with the force he augmented his strength but still struggled to lift it off. He 'tossed' it aside and looked down. A ladder led straight down for 10 feet before going northeast. "Where does it lead?" He asked, turning around to face the man that had answered him the first time. "It stays underground for 20 meters before coming up about 40 meters from the road, Sir." he replied quickly. "Good," He said to himself as he started to leave.

He went to the mess hall directly in front of the door and knelt to meditate for however much time he would be allowed. However, after but a few moments, he heard the first blaster shots signaling that the had arrived. His eyes wanted to shoot open, however he clamped them shut and focused on the battle outside. He pushed his senses out and tried to use a basic form of battle meditation to help in anyway he could from where he was; trying to heighten the senses of his soldiers while trying to trip up the enemy. Though, it mostly ended up being the prior as the Sith was suppressing his attempts. He would rather face the Sith outside, however, most of the troopers would have to be downed before he would do that. He drew the force to him and readied himself for the coming confrontation.

Where many of the troopers in the simulation were Galactic Alliance privates eager to prove themselves worthy of the military, the Empire had no such deficiencies. The programming of the AI that operated the Sith forces was meticulous and without morale. The troops fired from advantageous ground upon the defensively minded enemy, the enemy being in a static firing base could not pursue the Sith Empire's stormtroopers as they fired from behind cover. Every bit the equal of their Alliance counterparts in the communications relay, they would give them a good showing. Thermal detonators were tossed towards the duracrete barricades that provided cover for the soldiers, the trajectory of the bombs made ever more accurate by the power of the Force that the Sith wielded. Dressed in black and lurking in the shadows, the Galactic Alliance forces had not yet seen him. In their zeal, the Galactic Alliance privates would no doubt be preoccupied with the Stormtroopers to comprehend the real threat.

Because of their err, he was free to launch a telekinetic assault on them one at a time, each rising up, grasping at their neck as he choked them, only to be killed by a healthy application of blaster fire from stormtroopers who coordinated with the foe. These Alliance peons would be no match for the Sith, only inside where the Jedi stood did a real test face him. Of course, his arrogance was his own weakness.

The turmoil occurring outside made fear pang though his body. He had a hard time remembering that this was all a simulation; none of it was real.

Not soon after first contact did the Sith start going to work; raising one of his soldiers in the air as the other shot at him. He died practically instantly. As the Sith started to work on another, he shot out his mind with the force. He 'presence' was obvious to him, a void of light. A black hole almost. He tried to attack his consciousness to distract him, but the job had already been done.

He quickly retreated to the commander, who had thankfully moved back inside the facility at this time, and told him the location of the Sith, and 'motioned' through the force for him to throw some detonators and grenades in that direction.

The reply was quick as he yelled for the other 2 to cover him as he bolted out and threw 2 detonators along with a frag with amazing accuracy before firing upon the troopers he could see. After his display, he motioned for the others to go back inside. However, only one remained as one was taken out with a detonator and mortally wounded. The pain Akacen felt was immense and distracted him. He quickly retreated back into himself to defend against a mental attack that would no doubt come from the Sith. In the back of his mind he was impressed at the sophistication of the programming. However, his ignorance about such things didn't make that surprising.

However, before doing that, he imprinted on the commander's mind that he wanted him to destroy the entrance; cave it in. The door wouldn't hold anyone or anything out, so that was useless. He wanted him to bring it down with explosives. Akacen didn't give any time for reaction as he retreated within himself to brace for something. Anything.

As directed the Commander went straight to work. They had but one mine that they attached to the ceiling of the small hallway. Around it they attached detonators and frag grenades around it, making sure they would be timed to go off at the same time.

However, this was failed. The mine went off, and half of the 6 grenades did as well. The ceiling collapsed, but the walls did not. The structure was well built to withstand such explosions, and he hadn't taken that into account. As such, there was simply a rather small hole in the ceiling, large enough for someone to get through, and a small pile of rubble on the floor.

After the first explosion, one of the soldier went to look at the result, but the other 3 went off, impaling him several times and killing him. Not only had they wasted more of their precious small supply of explosives but friendly fire killed one more soldier.

Devastation filled his chest, and guilt flooded his mind. He knew that this was a simulation but what if this was real? What if that had really happened and his order ended up killing people?

He tried to rationalize, knowing that's what this was for; to learn. And there is nothing to learn from if you don't make mistakes. It still worried him though. He knew his grade was automatically lower now, and he would be lucky if he passed. He wasn't going to fail though. He would see it through or 'die'.

By now blaster fire and thermal detonators from the defenders had killed three stormtroopers. They were advancing through cover, and when the defenders moved back, they cautiously advanced. Caution was the better part of valor, and the explosion that rocked the entrance caused the Empire to hesitate. Had the entrance been destroyed, it would have become much more difficult to assault the structure.

Instead, the facility itself still stood. The Sith and Stormtroopers now advanced, the Sith throwing his saber at the heart of the dying Galactic Alliance to lay the coup-de-grâce. The saber returned to the Sith's hand as the stormtroopers took cover outside the door. A thermal detonator was tossed inside the entrance, and the stormtroopers waited until it detonated to begin firing into the lobby. The rubble that had been strewn from the ceiling would make advancing into the lobby difficult for the stormtroopers, but the Sith Marauder was growing tired of waiting. He was eager to get in there and tear the Jedi apart limb by limb.

"What's the status?" He asked through the comm he had on his belt, raising from his seated position a few moments after the explosion.

"5 of ours down, 3 of theirs. They're at the entrance and we're under heavy fire. I can see the Sith, they're going to move in soon." His answer was fast and loud, how a response normally would be under such conditions.

While he received the answer he walked quickly towards the comm room to check how it was going. "We'll be ready in 5 minutes." The woman said, rushing through the motions of deleting numerous files.

On the comm, he relayed back, "Start moving back; bring them into the lobby but keep them from getting to the mess. Take out as many as you can. I'll deal with the Sith." He ran towards the lobby, looking around the corner to see what was happening. It was indeed a tense battle.

Another soldier had fallen, and he saw one of the troopers had been shot as well. He went back behind the wall, covering himself from random shots, and closed his eyes, reaching out to the entrance. When the time was right, he pulled one of the troopers out as hard as he could (which happened to be about 2 feet) so he was out of cover allowing for him to be easily downed.

He could sense the impatience of the Sith, and would not try that again, for fear of his wrath. He wasn't sure how powerful the simulation would make him, but wasn't yet ready to find out.

He knew his job now was to stall for time to allow the analysts time to escape.

((OOC: Anyone who's wondering, filling in as NPCer at Mav's request))

Five Stormtroopers downed... Five allies dead, yet the remaining three fought. That was what had always made the Stormtroopers feared by the galaxy, ever since the first Empire rose under Palpatine. It's what gave them their reputation, that 'do-or-die' aspect. In these regards, the Alliance programmers had indeed excelled. The three Stormtroopers that remained continued fighting. But their methods changed, just a bit. A hidden program quirk, maybe, unintentional or not. Or maybe someone monitoring the sim decided to make things harder, to truly test the Padawan's mettle, his resolve and nerve. To make sure he understood that if these sorts of things ever came to be reality, it would be real people, with their own quirks and personalities and lives, that he'd have to kill, all in order to depend his beliefs.

Whatever the case, however it happened, things took a turn for the worst....

The Sith, arrogant and prideful, full of hate for the Jedi he would fight and kill, decided a true show of power was in store. He laughed, a dark and malevolent sound as he strode into the conflict to intervene, impatience and annoyance fueling his actions. He was darkness personified now, overwhelming, a demon in the eyes of the Alliance soldiers. The Stormtroopers were emboldened as the Sith began batting away shots with the Force, approaching the Alliance defenses. The three Stormtroopers moved from cover, advancing as they poured fire at the defenders. One Stormtrooper threw a thermal detonator over the defenses, landing amidst the defenders. That Stormtrooper got gunned down seconds afterwards, but the damage was done. The detonator went off, temporarily disorienting the defenders.

And the Sith took advantage, rushing forward and bolting over the obstacles, to land amongst the last of them. The crimson blade of his lightsaber flashed, the air burning with each stroke as one soldier was beheaded and the other was impaled as they turned to fire on the enemy now near him. That left the rest of those defenders holding the position, but the Sith was no longer willing to wait. He knocked the remaining defenders into the walls, stroding towards the mess-hall as the remaining two Stormtroopers began to fire on the disoriented Alliance soldiers, as well as the corpses to be sure there were no survivors.

It was time.

The Sith wasn't playing anymore, and now Akacen would have to do some real work.

While fear started to rise, he tried as hard as he could to think of this as a game. However, it was all too realistic and it would do no one good to think of it as such. This was to get him ready for real combat, so treating this as a real-world scenario was vital.

He felt around the room, and through telepathy told the commander to get back. Though he would have to pass the Sith, Akacen would have to distract him.

He moved around the corner of the door, filling it like a toothpick would a glass. ((sorry, I know that's really lame but I'm sticking to it.)) Immediately he went to work, raising both of his arms up and pushing the 2 stormtroopers back as hard as he could. He surprised himself in that they slammed rather hard against the back wall. They certainly weren't killed, not even wounded per se. More just temporarily removed from the situation.

Without skipping a beat, he took hold of a moderately sized piece of furniture and threw it at the Sith. He wasn't expecting it to land, necessarily. He was merely trying to distract him so the Commander could get out. Unfortunately, he was the only one still left alive. His heart sank at this realization.

He moved quickly back around the corner, not about to watch to see if the object hit its mark. He Commander ran our and across the mess hall, taking cover behind the other side of the door. They looked at each other and he told the commander, again through telepathy, to go into the armory. It would be the last line of defense, albeit indirect, before the comm room.

He kept to the side, as he would have to cross the doorway in order to get over there, and hid behind the counter that was the cafeteria line, keeping wary of the enemy.

With a deep breath Akacen moved with purpose and confidence. Whether it was just a facade, he didn't even know. He moved away from the door a few steps before turning around, taking a few steps backwards away from the doorway before stepping into the line of sight of the Sith. He was truly an imposing figure, obivously quite skilled with a blade. He would be hard pressed to last another 4 minutes, never mind defeat him.

The Sith didn't interfere as the base's commander ran, his defense shattered. The Stormtroopers were about to fire at the commander when Akacen popped into view, slamming both back against the walls. They staggered, disoriented as they tried to steady themselves, one firing a shot that went wide. The Sith was about to respond in kind to the Jedi when his attention diverted, a table suddenly flying at him. His eyes widened a bit, before slitting as a delighted smile crossed his features. He jumped, grabbing the table with his own telekinetic powers while he was in the air and bringing it to a halt, landing atop it. By then, the Jedi was in cover and hiding again. So, the Sith waited, stalking atop his platform as the two Stormtroopers aimed, waiting for a chance to get a shot off. The Sith noticed, though.

"No, the Jedi is mine. You'll finish what you were ordered to do after I've engaged him." The Stormtroopers froze, silently conversing before standing down. None interfered as the base's commander moved behind cover, even as they saw the shape moving. No, it was when Akacen revealed himself, putting up a brave front, that started motion again. The Sith smiled that cruelly delightful smile again as he gave in to the emotions that empowered him, stepping back so that he moved off the table Akacen had tried to use against him. Then he kicked it, the motion enhanced by telekinetic energy as it flew at Akacen. The Sith followed behind it, ignited blade in hand, ready to cut through and meet the Jedi in combat.

The anxiety was gone. At least from his consciousness. He stared down the Sith atop his pedestal. He would use such arrogance against the Sith as he had against some of his peers at the Temples.

He readied himself mentally and physically, but without moving or betraying his thoughts. His face was emotionless, as was his mind. He was in complete control and the Sith's presence no longer filled him with fear and anger. This went unnoticed to himself, as he wasn't thinking about that at the moment. He was watching as the table flew towards him.

Though he isn't one for acrobatics, he jumped up and diagonally to his left as he manipulated the trajectory of the table so it would fly harmlessly by. His eyes never leaving the sith, he drew his training saber. In mid-air, he used the force in order to power the saber to its full strength. Though it still could not compete with a real lightsaber, he had no desire to beat this opponent in combat.

Right as he landed the Sith was upon him. He landed with his feet in such a way as to allow him to spin (his) clockwise, slicing at the Sith's midsection in order to keep him away before moving back, ready to defend against his opponent.

The Sith reacted fast to Akacen's defense, as it occured. His crimson lightsaber changed angles, meeting with the Jedi's training saber. The Jedi moved away, though, putting distance between them - but the Sith only smiled that cruel smile. Electicity danced on his fingertips as he began to unleash a small barrage of it at Akacen, though he stopped short while his hands still crackled. He closed the distance, slashing diagonally at his opponent, all the while laughing, seemingly unaware that this wasn't a game, yet was. But if Akacen tried to defend against both attacks and succeeded on the former, he'd find that the slash wasn't the Sith's true assault. No, the blade seemed to vanish as it was de-activated, the Sith using the proximity to unleash another barrage of lightning at the Jedi while tilting his body opposite of his momentum, enough to avoid the training saber if it had been heading at him before.

Amidst this opening combat, the Stormtroopers used the distraction to move through the doorway, into the mess hall, and then into the next corridor connecting the rest of the base. They had their own orders - the Sith had his own game to play.

The movements seemed unnatural. For good reason.

Other than the fact it was but a simulation, his 'opponent' effectively being an advanced type of hologram, the Sith was pure evil. Something Akacen had never encountered before.

Even though he kept his eyes on the Sith, he was not expecting the lightning to flow so readily from his fingertips. Because of this, he almost didn't bring his saber up in time in order to absorb the dark side energy. He was awkward about it, as he had never had to do such a thing before, but it was nonetheless effective.

Temporarily frozen in shock, it was not until the Sith was upon him that he saw him. Out of pure reaction, he went to spin with his blade protecting him all the way around. Out of pure fear, he pushed with the force as hard as he could at the Sith. This was purely reactionary, and immediately after he could feel the drain, physically and mentally, starting seep through his body.

He was not blessed with endurance, and his time had already started to run out, before they had even really started.

As the Stormtoopers stalked in, the Alliance soldiers were ready for them. 2 of them were in the barracks, were the troopers were headed, and now 3 were in the armory, farther down that same wall. The 2 in the barracks peaked their rifles and an eye around the corner and started to shoot, making sure not to shoot towards their Jedi. This wasn't too difficult as they had started to move passed that doorway anyway, as Akacen kept moving backwards.

As the troopers were slowed in their progress, taking cover behind the tables, the 3 soldiers in the armory poked their heads out as well. With a better angle, and the advantage of numbers on their side, they filled the mess hall with blaster fire. Some of the shots were poorly aimed, completely missing the troopers, some were to keep their heads down, while others were aimed for kill shots.

The Sith seemed caught off-guard as the Jedi simply reacted, telekinetic energy hitting him like a wall. He stumbled back, then the majority of it hit him and slammed him back into a wall. He staggered, a low, primal growl filling his throat. He pushed away from the wall, but instead of attacking directly, he started to gather tables and chairs in a Force grip, one by one sending them as Akacen. He was no longer holding back, no longer taking joy in this fight... No, he would take joy in slaying his opponent. He was no longer interested in a challenge, or a simple contest of wills, or anything of the sort. This Sith wanted to simply kill, without any games.

The Stormtroopers, pinned down, made due with their impromptu cover, taking short shots when they could. They couldn't advance and couldn't retreat, in their current position. So they did something else. One of them pulled out the last of his thermal detonators, three in total. Switching them to impact detonation, not timed, he jumped up long enough to toss the triad into the armory before a shot hit his shoulder. He ducked back down, checking the damage and deeming it only cosmetic. The two Stormtroopers continued firing back from cover.

At this point, his breath was getting harder to find. Though he wasn't sweating, he was more tired than he knew he should be, but he couldn't let his speed be diminished.

He was probably more shocked than the Sith at his sudden explosive energy. As the Sith gathered the furniture around him, Akacen made a dash for cover. He kept moving, dodging and ducking to avoid them. Sometimes his speed would fail him, or he would be tricked in the wrong direction and have to use more of his force energy in order to divert the direction of the flying objects.

He kept moving back, allowing the Sith to advance straight forward, using up more and more energy. Before he got too close to the wall, he needed to break his patterm and concentration. As he threw a chair at him, Akacen dodged it, but as it passed him, he grabbed a hold of it with the force, and using the momentum already created by the Sith, moved it into an arc around him and into the small table that was being thrown at him. This caused that table to stop short from hitting him directly, but he still had to strife in order to get out of the way as it skidded across the floor.

Keeping a flow of his own movements, he picked up broken pieces and started to throw them back as he continued to dodge and roll the oncoming barrage. He threw them so the sharper, more dangerous ends would hopefully cut, or even impale the Sith.

At this point he was merely distracting the Sith.

An explosion distracted Akacen for a fraction of a moment, but he was in mid-throw and just followed through, seeing what happened out of the corner of his eye.

The Commander had seen the incoming detonators and pushed the other 2 soldiers out of the way and shot at the trooper. Because of this he was unable to move quick enough and was blown back by the explosion. He was knocked unconscious, and his armor was tattered around his feet and shins, along with a portion of his mid-section.

There was a momentary lapse of fire, and the troopers took advantage of this. One of the soldiers in the barracks was shot twice, in the chest and leg, and he was down. The 2 soldiers in the armory tried to dress their Commander's wounds. Upon hearing the yell from one of their own, one got up and threw the last frag they had in their armory. It landed just in front of the makeshift barrier the troopers had made before going off. Immediately after throwing the grenade, before it even went off, that particular soldier shot at them almost wildly, trying to keep their heads down more than trying to kill them.

The troopers reacted despite the fire on them, as the frag landed. They started to move away from that part of the cover, even as the frag blew. One of them was knocked aside from the concussion, debris of the destroyed table falling around them. The other trooper had gotten the distance, firing on the trooper who'd thrown the frag and tossing his own last detonator towards the armory, timed for three seconds, so it blew as soon as it went in. After the toss, that trooper aimed towards the barracks, firing to make sure the soldier there didn't interfere. The other trooper was down, a large piece of debris stabbed into one leg at the knee and another into his left arm. He was firing his sidearm, inaccurate shots flying a bit wide but still a threat.

The Sith didn't watch any of it, his attention on defending and attacking. He used the tables and chairs to block the debris turned against him by the Jedi, though some got through, tearing skin and clothing. He didn't notice the shard jabbed into his chest until he felt the warmth of his blood beneath the tear. His attention wavered, the furniture settling around him in a blockade as he examined the wound, silent for a few moments. Then he roared, a pure, unadulterated sound of rage. The tables and chairs were blown aside, skidding over the mess-hall's floor as he ran at Akacen, lightsaber lifted high for an overhead strike. He wasn't in control, now, instead just motivated by that rage, that pure hate. He'd been wounded and would end this now, with the Jedi's death.

He was moving as fast as he could, but he was still hit a few times by the flying debris. Mostly just bruises, with a few shallow cuts. Especially when the explosion happened, he was distracted and was hit by a chair on the left half of his body. He still kept throwing small, sharp objects at him. However, now he was more exclusively dodging rather than using up more of his force energy to manipulate the direction of the objects thrown at him.

A few moments after the explosion, the Sith stopped. A welcome respite, but Akacen didn't stop. The soldier in the armory was dead from the explosion, the other trying to resuscitate the Commander while the remaining one in the barracks was pinned down by the trooper. Akacen sat behind an upturned table for a moment, catching his breath before finding a broken piece of metal, triangular in shape, and threw it at the trooper on the ground, right at his throat. The target hit its mark and the trooper went limp.

The other trooper was not phased by this and kept shooting inside the barracks. At this time, the Sith roared out, and he rolled out from behind the table just in time for it to explode under the crash of the crimson saber.

He barely had time to raise his saber in time to deflect an overpowered blow that ripped his arms down. He was not physically strong and his strength was starting to fail him. All he could do was to keep moving around his opponent and practically dodge the attacks, as his attempts at redirect the blade were being foiled by the pure strength of the strikes.

He noticed his body was riddled with cuts and some objects still stuck out of him. The blows were getting faster and more powerful, and Akacen was at the Sith's mercy. He spun away, throwing objects at him, but he might as well have thrown them against a wall. He was tired and could get far enough away to get out of the onslaught.

His mind, miraculously working for a split second, got an idea. He twirled, more moving out of the way than blocking it. As he turned to face the Sith, he pushed upon a piece of metal that was stuck in his chest as hard as he could. If the Sith did nothing, it would have ripped straight through his body, creating a hole clear through. That was his last hope as he collapsed, unable to stand after.

The last trooper vaulted over his cover after a few moments, sure that the Alliance soldier in the barracks was too preoccupied to prevent the movement. The soldier in the armory, given they were busy with reviving the downed base commander, wouldn't have much chance as the trooper rushed into the armory, opening fire as soon as he passed the threshold. Two more deaths, the soldier and commander. Two more deductions, given it was a sim, but the realism of it was more than enough to keep the Padawan thinking once it was all over. A hard lesson, but one that would stick, hopefully.

The Sith's attacks became more erratic as more blood spilled from his wounds, the rage keeping him going as he attacked. The Jedi was forced back, again and again, and that only added more fuel to the darkness keeping the Sith going. Or it was, for a time. It all came to an end as the Sith froze, coughing up blood as the metal slid through, tearing out of his body. The lightsaber fell, blade still ignited, to the side. The Sith collapsed in a heap beside Akacen, cold, dead eyes staring accusingly from an expression of hate.

The Stormtrooper had, by then, barged into the barracks and ended another soldier's life. As that trooper came back into the mess, they saw the dead Sith, the weakened Jedi. They lifted that blade of crimson light, helmet pulled off in the other hand. The face that looked down at the Jedi wasn't a soldier's face. It was a young man's face, unlined and simply young looking. The eyes were hard, though, no emotion or maybe a mixture of them. One could tell that this wasn't a normal part of the simulation, this trooper standing over a downed opponent. It was a glitch or a hidden algorithim, a program that wasn't supposed to be here yet was. That young trooper brought the crimson blade down, stabbing into Akacen's simulated chest, into his simulated heart. The blade went out, the hilt fell and bounced off his corpse.

The simulation was over, test completed, score tallied and deducted appropriately. Programmers were called, asked to explain what had happened, why these unexplained events had occured. They didn't know, yet they suspected. A Jedi hadn't done this sim before, the sims were based on the user's psyche, made to adapt. They could only assume it was a product of that, of it adapting to Akacen's mind, his perceptions. 'A product of the Jedi's perceptions, how he might be affected in such a situation,' the programmers said. They went back to work, changing the simulation, fixing it yet not fixing it.

After all, how can you fix what someone's seen, experienced, dreamed, feared, and perceived?
