The galaxy had been moving rapidly towards war, Oren could see it, it felt as if the Jedi Order itself was wishing to avenge their fallen brothers. The emotions within the Order and the larger galactic powers was heating up and war seemed inevitable. The Jedi Master was conflicted on the idea as a whole, their order had barely recovered from the conflicts of the Old Empire and the Great Jedi Purge. Things had been building up, but so had the Sith. The Jedi by their nature were not made for conflicts such as this, they were peacekeepers and not soldiers.

The actions of many Jedi during these small conflicts had shown that the Order was exactly that, there were only a few in the Order that had properly been trained to fight in real wars and battles and almost none had ever trained to fight the Sith. Going to war meant they were playing into the hands of the Sith and the Dark Side, through the mass scale of lost life would be ripples of pain and loss. Even if the Jedi succeeded in their mission and peace would be achieved, it was likely the seeds of the next enemies of the galaxy would be birthed in this conflict -- or so Oren felt.

Even with this knowledge of possible doom for himself and the order, Oren still felt he had an obligation for life itself. The Order needed to define their allies and their terms. For far too long had the Order been in hiding, perhaps it was time to answer to the questions that galaxy had for them. Thankfully he was not here alone, both Master Tallis and Master Tionson were beside him as they entered the great chambers and that brought the council member some comfort.

Oren was unsure of what to expect or if anything would be made of the proceeding, all he could hope for was the best and to stay true to himself. That's all a Jedi could do, and so the three of them awaited the meeting of the Free World to begin.

To keep the peace, war must be prepared for.

It was a lesson his homeworld had taken from the Mandalorians from their time with them long ago and it was so one he could understand even as a Jedi. There was a reason why Jedi carried lightsabers after all and it wasn't just because they looked good. They had recognized from a very long time ago that just going out into the Galaxy with their good intentions did not work very well.

Politics, thankfully, was a battleground that did not require weapons of the more physical nature.

As they waited, Max straightened his robes slightly as he thought about what they were going to say. He had some ideas on what to say but he would be following Oren's lead.

But one thing that had to be addressed...

"So did we have to pick the most scarred members of the Order?"

Why did I choose to come to the Alliance with Master Zapan instead of going to Kessel with Knight Ryn? Multiple reasons. Even if I wanted to go to Kessel, I had urgent business on Coruscant. Something I absolutely had to do before throwing myself on the real and metaphorical frontlines for the Jedi Order. Chandrila was a shorter trip from there, and I wouldn't have made it to Kessel in time. But there was more to my decision than just practicality.

By that time, I also realized that the Jedi Order alone couldn't oppose whatever Empire the Sith were building. Few of us had the background of soldiers. Even with my cop training, I almost lost my life during the Sith attack on Sector Ranger Coruscant HQ. All of that because I couldn't tell a frag grenade from a thermal detonator. Other Jedi could be even less prepared. It wasn't up to us to fight wars. But it was up to us to spur the Free Worlds Alliance towards preparing themselves against the Sith.

Besides, I kind of thought that my name could have at least a little weight in the FWA at that point. On Coruscant, I helped save the Sector Ranger Chief and get a lead or two for tracking down the attackers. There was also a little side project: training local police cadets to handle Force-sensitives. On Fondor, I helped investigate the kidnapping of a corporate executive's son. There was also that case on Corsin, where I helped to uncover a small Sith-led cell. Not much, but it was enough to get recognized by a Corellian senator in a bar.

Of course, Masters Zapan and Tionson had been out there longer than me, and had a lot more achievements under their belt. They would probably be doing most of the talking. The biggest thing I could bring to the table was my first-hand experience in the Battle of Ryloth. Ryloth was far enough from the Alliance space, but it showed what the Sith were willing to do. Surely the Senators would see that and at least consider a deterrent of sorts?

...

A witty remark by Max distracted Nykoria through her train of thought. She had used make-up to cover the burns on her face almost perfectly, hoping to look more presentable with her dark-blue robe matching her indigo hair. But both of Kori's older colleagues probably knew the extent of her injuries. Again, they were nothing compared to what Max and Oren had gone through.

"Scars are proof of experience," the Zeltron shrugged, her reply half-serious. "Surely that would add points in our favor." Max seemed to share Kori's certainty about this move to FWA, whereas Oren was... conflicted? Then again, he always seemed to have a good grasp on the bigger picture, so maybe there were rumors for concerns.

Regardless, Kori did what she'd always do when nervous: straighten her back and put up a slight confident smile. Manage to hold it long enough, and you might feel better about the whole upcoming ordeal. She just wished she could share her confidence with Max and Oren wordlessly through the Force, like she could hope to do with Nara and Izel. But the Ontotho trio shared a special bond.

However, unbeknownst to Nykoria, her own slight anxiety had already increased her output of pheromones. Eluding conscious detection, they would soothe the worries of those who would stand nearby. Perhaps even make the points raised by the Zeltron Jedi more valid to those who would be close enough.

Nicolas was new to the senate, this had been his first time inside the great Senate chambers. he was there, representing the relatively young yet thriving New Alderaan. He had some aids as well, namely his protocal droid.

Truth be told, Nicolas Clément would be a supporter of the Jedi. He heard the tales about them being force users fighting for the good of all, having done so from the before the Clone Wars and during, and then reading about Rey helping the Resistance against the First Order. And even now they are opposing the Sith, even helping the Sector Rangers responding to their attacks. The Sith that have no good intensions and have been terrorists. In a short amount of time the Sith have conqueror territory and have assembled a military of their own. That's why the Jedi are here most likely, to try and gain support for down the road.

Nicolas would be glad to give support, both other members of senate more than likely won't be so inclined, at least not without proper convincing. Although FWA agents/officals have interacted with Jedi before, he understand that this is the first time Jedi came into the senate chambers in over one-hundred years.

Nicolas would see the Jedi, three of them, that's Oren Zapan leading them. Nicolas never did expect to see a living breathing Jedi in person, at least this soon. especially not such high ranking Jedi. The was another with with an odd white eye, maybe damaged? Curious.

Nicolas would be silent for now, not familiar with procedure or rather who is supposed to speak first. Maybe the Jedi are going to start off with an speech. Maybe a higher ranked FWA official will receive them.

The new senator for Kattada stood behind his chair and looked at his working space in the senate chamber. It was full of the old senator's personal belongings, but he recognized it all. All of it belonged to his father. Soygun couldn't help but let a small smirk leave his lips. In the grand scheme of things, his father's legal troubles may be bad for business. The silver lining for Soygun, however, was that it threw him headlong into the world of politics. He didn't even have to start at the bottom rung of the political ladder. His father was still immensely popular as the outgoing senator for the planet, and appointing his son was a political safe and savvy move for planetary leadership.

There were whispers that the fabled Jedi might address the Senate today. York couldn't help but think it was nothing short of destiny for his first Senate session to be of one filled with such...dramatics. Soygun had never met a Jedi before. At least, he wasn't aware if he had. He wasn't even sure if they existed. As far as he knew, they were tall tales, myths told by elders as a preventive measure for any would-be galactic dictators out there. Don't even try it, there are magical light-sword wielding wizards out there that will win the day.

He wondered what the Jedi might want. Surely they hadn't come to the Senate, the first time in ages, to ask for permission, resources, or some sort of aid for their little quibble against the Sith. Have the Sith really been that much trouble? Some rather impressive terrorist attacks, but it could be argued that it was more of a law enforcement issue, more suited for the Sector Rangers to figure out.

One thing was certain; war wouldn't be good for Kattada. He didn't see any benefit to widespread war for Kattada no matter what. A Sith had already been in control of the Galactic Empire, and Kattada had, more or less, just continued on roughly the same as it had. But, war? Well, wars often have unexpected battlefields, and if the beautiful resorts on the Kattada beaches got blown to bits, the entire economy of the planet would collapse. All of the York family's financial assets were on Kattada. War was risking financial ruin unnecessarily.

Senator York took the personal belongings of his father and unceremoniously tossed them in the trash receptacle under his desk and sat down. He leaned back and put a single finger over his lips in thought. He was new. He had no political capital. The senators here would be less forgiving to the entire York family than his own home planet. He was sure of that. He had to be careful, but getting some political capital was priority number one. Let the Good and Evil electric sword wizards play their war games. That was but a secondary concern.

"I want those drafts on my desk tonight. Hopefully this meeting with the Jedi goes well and we can push them to the Senate by the end of next week." One of Tycho's aids nodded and walked out of his office, leaving him alone while he grabbed a datapad and a thick packet of paper. Some traditions just seemed to never die, he wasn't even sure if he had ever seen paper documents before he had joined the Senate. Paperwork in hand he stepped out of his office, heading towards the senate chambers. He looked down at his chrono, he was already late for the meeting.

As he stepped into the Senate Chamber and made his way to his seat Tycho looked over the Jedi, he recognized one of them from Sullust and smiled internally, while putting on a frown to give off the appearance he was incredibly angry. He was hoping one of the Jedi from there would be here, hopefully it would help some of his points. The senator took his seat, apparently next to the senator he had met before (@The Good Doctor ) He looked around noticing no one was speaking so he took charge. "Good morning, Master Jedi. Welcome to Chandrila, to the senate. Its an honor to finally see the Jedi grace the Free World's with their presence once more." He would appear calm, formal, until he reached the part where he mentioned the Jedi gracing the Free World with their presence, allowing a small tone of sarcasm to break through. He dropped the facade as he started his next sentence. "What I want to know is what the kriffing hell do you all think you're doing? Invading Sullust? Involving the Sector Rangers? Are you all mad!? If the Jedi want to remain independent of the Free World's so be it, but refrain from involving us in your disputes. Sullust could have taken that as a declaration of war. I can't speak for all my fellow senator's but I do not want to start a war. At the very least not one we aren't prepared to start."

Tycho forced himself to take a deep breath before grabbing the datapad he brought and plugging it in. A picture of one of the Jedi starships losing control and crashing would be visible, along with the Jedi formation, taken from above. "At the very least if you are going to begin from what I hear, a "Stealth" mission" Tycho did air quotes as he said the word stealth. "Make sure you attempt to use stealth instead of attempting to directly assault the walls of a fortress with a handful of Jedi and one Sector Ranger. I'm not even sure why Senator Snowell was there. I'm not going to even ask. What I want is an answer from the Jedi for this. Because as of this moment, I can't even see why we should let the Jedi wander Free World space with lightsabers and other weapons, let alone call upon the Sector Rangers for their half assed plans. Why should the Senate here even associate with the Jedi after they just invaded an independent world."

Max wasn't of the kind who believed in luck and good luck most of all. Good luck was something that, quite often, came from hard work and preparation so it could hardly be considered fortune at all in his mind but rather the results of doing due diligence and keeping a mind open to changes. Senators around the room looked down at them from their seats and thought.

They had their agendas but so did the Jedi; it was Max's duty here today to make sure that a compromise could be met. That the Jedi could walk away with their heads held high, their principles intact and, hopefully, some firmer bonds of friendship and alliance. Failing that, not being labelled as terrorists and enemies of the Free Worlds would be a nice outcome as well.

When they were addressed by one of the senators, from his research he recalled the man's name was Tycho Berand. He had done reading on publically available senate meetings prior to arriving and he knew that Tycho was rather brash and firm in his opinions. Where he fell on the issue of the Jedi was a mystery for all of approximately half a minute; he wasted no time in getting to the heart of the meeting and Max could respect such strength of conviction.

He stepped forward slightly, moving ahead of both Oren and Kori as he did so.

"And a good morning to you as well, Senator Berand. I am Master Maxims Tionson and I must say it is a pleasure to be called to such a meeting with the senate."
he replied, turning the sarcastic remark about their presence aside gracefully with a reminder that they were here because the senate wanted them to be, "And we are more than happy to account for ourselves and our actions."

Max watched the footage without a change to the peaceful expression on his face. He remembered Sullust very well... he hardly needed a reminder of the events of the day but he understood that it was for the benefit of those who were not there that day. The point about their lightsaber was somewhat amusing considering Max currently had no such tool since he had yet to construct a new one.

But that was hardly what needed to be discussed here today.

"Madness is not a malady that the Jedi suffer from, I assure you Senator. What you have called to the attention of the senate was a move against the Sith currently occupying Sullust. The same Sith..."
Max made sure to use the datapad given to him by the senatorial aids to pull up two holonet announcements and news footage of the attack on the Ranger HQ, along with footage of the attempted Sith invasion of Ryloth to display to the senate as a whole, "... that have committed acts of terrorism against your union... launched invasions of independent worlds that resisted their rule... and named yourselves and the Rangers you currently employ as their enemies. On Sullust we engaged not in an invasion but in a rescue operation of an ally held against their will within the bowels of a Sith base on a planet openly supporting the said Sith terrorists. Openly supporting the group that would see your citizens dead or under their thumb. Now senators..."

Max raised his right hand, both to pre-empt any immediate questioning and to draw attention to the repairs that his right hand had required. Obviously partially cybernetic as it was now, it was better to address it before anyone else could bring it up.

"I will not stand here and lie to you and say that the operation was as successful as it could have been. But our objective was met and a key ally was rescued from the stronghold of a shared enemy in spite of hardships."
he argued, lowering his hand as he did so, "I cannot speak to the actions of Rangers or Senators. Senators the attack on Sullust is an example that must not be repeated. We must strengthen the bonds between ourselves to better co-ordinate against those who would, and have, kill our peoples and destroy our homes. The Jedi Order wishes co-operation and alliance with the Free Worlds of this union against our shared foes."

Max would bow his head slightly in respect to the senator who had spoken and take a small step back, having answered the questions and made clear the Jedi Order's position in the senate.

For someone who strongly indentified as an ally of the Jedi Order, Morndell was surprisingly quiet as the proceedings unfolded before him. From a certain point of view, he understood where the good Senator of Ord Tindell was coming from. War was something none of them could afford to face, not when they were all unprepared and still floundering after what had transpired on Sullust. But inaction was something the newly-elected Senator of Chalacta could not forgive.

The rescue of Trys Aran on Sullust had been half-assed at best, but Morndell silently commended the combined forces of a handful of Jedi and one (the Senator suppressed a chuckle) Sector Ranger for meeting the primary goal of the little stunt they pulled on an independent planet.

He cleared his throat as quietly as he could, disguising the snort that escaped him at the very mention of the word.

"The Galaxy is obviously a dangerous place," mused the Senator. "The foolish will die should they choose to venture out so unarmed these days. Why–" here, Morndell let out a condescending chuckle to punctuate his words "–would you deprive those who call themselves the keepers of the peace their weapons, their means to combat those who sow nothing but discord? If you want the Jedi unarmed then make sure the rest of every existing law enforcement follow in that same path!"

Probably not the point of the conversation, but Morndell was feeling particularly peeved – from what he had heard, Senator Berand himself was present on Sullust during the so-called attack.

Behind him, Ramone facepalmed while Edmund snickered.

Morndell's hatred for the Sith was only strengthened as he watched the holos presenting the Dark Order's declaration of war against both the Sector Rangers and the Jedi, the announcement of their return, the crises the galaxy faced, and the invasion attempt on Ryloth. The massacre of his troops on Morak was still fresh both in his heart and mind, and the senator knew that it was a nightmare he would never forget.

Standing up from his seat, Morndell would offer the representatives of the Jedi Order a respectful half-bow before speaking.

"I believe that no one in this congregation would want to start a war, prepared or otherwise, let alone suffer from the ravages it will cause. But is it wise to let these marauding savages to run rampant across the galaxy, spreading chaos as they pleased and leaving the broken and the dead behind their wake? Is it wise to turn away the offer of alliance and cooperation by those who would want to see the fall of the Sith? We say we do not want war, but are we to ignore it as it stares and spits at us on the face?"

The senator's gaze would sweep from one nearby face to another, expression hard and resolute.

"Facing the threats of the Sith alone will only end in suffering and pain... and death. We call ourselves the Free Worlds Alliance and yet here we are, divided and torn on the issue at hand, floundering like helpless children, while the enemy is out there and plotting their next nefarious steps into tearing us apart even further. I, for one, cannot sit idly by while these accursed Sith further their plans.

"I have already said this once, and I will say it again: None of us would want to start a war. Not willingly. But it is something that we must prepare for, if only to protect the galaxy and those we hold dear from the threat that now plagues us all. The Sith is a sickness that's gleefully eating at us, and would leave nothing untouched. They are hungry and greedy, picking us one by one and leaving behind what? Not even bones.

"We must fight for peace, for our liberation from the dark hand of our shared enemy."

Morndell's steely gaze would meet the Jedi's, offering them and, by extension the Sector Rangers, the alliance they sought.

"In behalf of Chalacta, I, Morndell Avon, give the Jedi Order and it's allies our support on your campaigns against the Sith."

I just read darkrei9n's signature on Tycho's sub-account. I was using my phone when I made this post and thus hadn't seen that note about Tycho's involvement on Sullust. ?
Sorry for that oversight, bud! ??

The Jedi Council member listened to the proceedings which had slowly begun to transpire across the great halls of the Senate floor. This hall represented the free peoples of the core and mid rim, but many in the galaxy were not free, Oren knew that as much. He had been many places far beyond the interest of the Alliance or the Republic, he had seen what corruption and war had done to their planets.

It seemed the fate of the galaxy had been pushed towards this moment as if the Force had willed it to be. There was no balance in the force and with each passing day it only grew more cloudy in judgement. The Darkness was growing, but the war had begun years ago.

Max had done a great job at explaining the past, and Oren would let his fellow master do just that. He would listen to Senator Avon's heart felt speech with great interest, his passion burned bright and the force seemed to ooze through this room. Oren could feel it, the idea of power and the subtle whispers within this hall -- the seduction of power was strong here. Always present it is, seductive. The Ancient Grand Masters' teachings rang through his mind. Perhaps this is why the Jedi had fallen so many times before, politics and the force should have never mingled.

Clearing his mind, Oren would stand with a gentle sigh. "A Jedi does define himself by his lightsaber nor his ability to fight," his words were sharp and pointed towards the brash Senator that had spoken earlier. "There is no glory in war, this fight today will only lead to the enemies of the future. I've considered this for some time, I've traveled to planets long forgotten by the galaxy in search of the mistakes of the past. Perhaps, they were not mistakes, but the axioms of life itself."

Oren would look to the Jedi and then the Senate as a whole, "The Force is in all of us, it binds us and feeds energy to this galaxy through co-existence. What we face today is a perversion of this very truth, an attempt to rebel against the truths we have sworn ourselves to. The Sith by their nature will not stop until the galaxy is their own, whether through force or destabilization of democratic means. Ultimately those who do not conform with their ideals will be destroyed, and you will be forced to live by their laws and not your own."

The Jedi Master would close his eyes for a moment, centering his thoughts before continuing on, "I don't say these words to scare you, nor to force you to act irrational. I am a mythical prophet that can provide you some sort of insight into the future, nor can I promise you that I or any of my Jedi will succeed in destroying the Sith."

Oren's eyes would open, "But, what I can promise you is that we will defend your way of life, your people, your planets, and your democracy. Because this is the right thing to do, the real Jedi way. Our people do not seek a position of power within your alliance because we are allies of life, not of some government or ourselves. We come before you today, because we wish to inform you that this is what we shall do. We cannot force you to fight, nor do we wish to lead your armies. But, you must consider your own paths and the future that lay ahead for your planets."

"The Jedi have made many mistakes in the past, we are mortal men and women. There are things we wish we could have done differently, but we can make these changes for the future. Together through our alliance, we can protect your people and your way of life, as the Jedi of the past had done for thousands of years."

And so it began. Accusations were thrown, speeches were made. Some speeches longer and less down-to-earth than others. A senator already expressed support, but there were others who needed convincing. But the Councillor's speech, as correct as it was, might have distracted everyone from the problem at hand to the more philosophical aspects. Only after hearing and processing everything said so far, did Nykoria have something to say.

"There is a reason why Jedi carry lightsabers," it seemed like an appropriate time to step forward. "Because one sword can keep another in the sheath. Ryloth might not be part of this Alliance, but it showed one thing. The Jedi alone don't have a sword against what the Sith have turned into." Kori let the others process that. Surely everyone understood what she was talking about. The Sith wielded the power of the worlds they conquered. They had brought a Star Destroyer and a small military to Ryloth, and it was common knowledge that Jedi lacked something like that. It was only thanks to the planetary defense force why the Twi'leks still had their world to themselves. But what if the Sith had bided their time and brought a proper fleet?

After a few moments, Nykoria would continue: "If history taught us anything, is that the Sith would stop at nothing until they rule the galaxy. Even if they have to start a war for it." The term "war" had been brought up multiple times already. It was looming over the thoughts of many people who were in the gathering. But still, it seemed like something distant to Kori. Something avoidable.

Finally in the zone, Nykoria continued with more confidence than ever: "They'd be bringing that war to us: to the Jedi and to the Free Worlds Alliance. And it won't come down to the Jedi, but to the people of the galaxy to stand for their freedom. To be that sword that keeps the Sith oppression and a new Empire away from your worlds." After the fiery delivery, the Zeltron lowered her gaze briefly, thinking over what she had just said. She had intended to appeal to the rationality and common sense. But in the end, it did appeal to emotions as well. To the promise of freedom that the Alliance had been built upon. To each and every individual who'd hear that speech.

After taking a few moments to quell her emotions, Kori raised her gaze again, this time speaking in a quieter and calmer manner: "You can tell us to relinquish our lightsabers while here, or leave the Free Worlds, and we would comply." Somehow, Nykoria doubted that it was the case; but hopefully, throwing this unlikely idea in would draw other Jedi supporters in the senate to speak against it. And maybe even support Kori's next point and return the conversation back on track: "All we ask is not to dismiss the Sith threat. And perhaps—if you so choose—to let the Jedi help you somehow."

With that, Nykoria nodded and stepped back. Hopefully, the conversation was back on its track. It was the "how" that the Jedi had come here to discuss, after all. Assuming the Alliance would have the Jedi by their side, of course.

There were quite a few voices speaking out today, as could be expected. The Jedi had been on Coruscant before, of course, fighting and dying alongside Rangers at the prison. Even when Ranger headquarters was hit, some small few were reported as rushing into the fray help the survivors, with one in particular even saving the life of Sector Chief Hudson. But the Jedi had not before asked to speak directly before the senate, a historic moment that the Prime Minister had hoped would be remembered fondly.

So far it was something of a mess, all told. They'd sent an ex-con, an academy dropout, and a grizzled old man. At least one of them seemed to know how to speak to political officials and she quietly wondered if the man with the half-mechanical arm had some experience in that regard.

Naeva Rue, Prime Minister of the Free Worlds, leaned slightly forward on her desk. Her hands were interlaced with each other atop its surface, amber eyes peering out over them to quietly regard each speaker, in turn. Chief Hudson sat just behind her to the left in his own seat, arms crossed across his chest, frowning irritably and glaring daggers toward Senator Berand. The man had no sense nor patience for these sorts of proceedings. He was a Ranger, not a senator, but she had called him in for his take on things.

After
@Nykoria Tallis finished speaking the Prime Minister raised her hand for silence, the Speaker to her right loudly clanging his staff twice on the ground to enforce order and draw the people's attention. Her hand slowly came back down to the desk to interlace again with the other, her eyes fixing their gaze firmly on the Zeltron Jedi for a moment before turning to @Maxims Tionson.

"Master Jedi, if your- Padawan, is that right?- is unable to control her pheromonal production, she will need to wait outside. She's exciting security," she said coolly through the quiet, quite tired of hearing the alert in her ear of foreign biological contaminants in the senate chamber. She turned next to @Oren Zapan, pausing a moment before speaking again.

"Your Jedi spiritualism is wonderful, it truly is, but it has little place in the senate. I had expected your Order to send a diplomat of some kind to speak on their behalf, not a priest or philosopher. We do not deal in empty rhetoric or heroic speeches," She looked again at Nykoria, stern eyes staring her down, before turning them back on Oren. "Nor vague promises and half baked ideas. This Senate prefers to vote on information, fact, and the needs of our collective people. We deal in evidence, Master Jedi, to make our decisions. Not mysticism. What we care about is: Why you are here, what is it you want to accomplish, and what this alliance of yours entails. I'll give you all a moment to collect your thoughts."

She turned her gaze then to the man Chief Hudson had been glaring at the entire time, @Tycho Berand, the Senator of Ord Tindell. "Senator Berand. I'm afraid I'm not as up to date on Ord Tindell traditions as perhaps I should be. Aides are a bit behind on such things, I'm afraid, with everything going on, but I must ask."

Prime Minister Rue leaned forward again across her desk, fixing the Senator with a steely-eyed look. "Is living under a rock typical of your people?" She waved her hand across a control surface on her desk, the videos that Maxims had brought forward- provided by the Prime Ministers own office for authenticity, no less- projected and blown up in the center of the chamber. It only showed specific and notable snippets.

The execution of a Ranger captain on Corellia in retaliation for Ranger investigations into slaughters by the Red Blades. News reports and footage from the attack on the Coruscant ranger station, the building burning, Chief Hudson caught by a bodycam falling through the air and being caught mid-air by a Jedi. A bevy of reports filed by Lieutenant Trys Aran across her career, detailing her investigations and opinions on the matter, and the direct retaliation by Ender Halcyon in response to these reports.

Last to be displayed was the mask of the Eternal itself, a section of his grand speech on the holonet booming over the chamber speakers
.

"I am the Dark Lord of the Sith and I am the Eternal. I will not be stopped or intimidated by the likes of an inept government or a deceptive cult of Jedi. Summon your fleets and your armies, but you will never hit what you cannot see. The revolution of order is coming. All those who stand in our way will be destroyed. Submission will bring you salvation, but resistance will bring you only loss. The Sith Order remains, and we will not be stopped. This is your warning."

The sound switched off, and in the silence that followed the Prime Minister looked only at the large form of the projected mask. She stared it down, as if she could stop him with a look alone. If only that were enough.

"The Red Blades, or the Sith as the Jedi call them, were declared a terrorist organization by my office years ago in response to their attacks on Free Worlds peoples. They declared members of the Sector Rangers personal targets, and all but declared war on the Free Worlds Alliance itself. Jedi and Rangers both have fought and died defending innocent lives from these terrorists. The justification for Sullust is not in question, nor is the lack of planning that went into it."

The Prime Minister leaned back in her chair and swept a hand over her control panel, bringing back the footage Tycho Berand had brought up previously. She paused the video and held up a hand to indicate it as she spoke.

"Where did you get this footage? You assert Senator Snowell was on Sullust. How do you know this? You assert Rangers were dragged into the fighting, but Chief Hudson assures me only a single droid operative was reported as being present. You seem to have a greater degree of knowledge on this subject than the rest of us, Senator Berand."

Her eyes fixed themselves back on Tycho, hands placed neatly in her lap. Her words were polite, but her tone didn't leave much room for interpretation as to whether what she asked next was really a request.

"Please, elaborate."

This was a turning point for more than just the Free Worlds Alliance and the Republic. This was a time where everything was going to change. It was not the time to just do nothing. But Siria found herself silent, watching the presenting Jedi Masters. "Is everything-" "Yes, Tee-cee" She answered the concerned droid before it could finish the question. The woman was keen on listening, or at the very least, not wasting her breath adding to the irrelevant subjects that started things.

We wouldn't be here if everything was fine She thought to herself. The pale complexion of the woman often had her mistaken for Echani or Arkanian. But the Senator of Tirahnn was dressed in a tailor made outfit. The silks and trade that came through Triahnn was the pride of the planet moreso than the products themselves. It was their livelyhood and important for Siria to also try and introduce the beautiful cultures the rest of the galaxy brought. In terms of the Galaxy's past, Tirahnn was trade world that changed hands and survived the ages thanks to their mercantile culture. In a way it was similar to Coruscant and other Core Worlds but had been fortunate to not be target by terrorist cells like the Sector Rangers had.

Each person spoke and finally the Prime Minister gave voice to some of the concerns shared by the woman. Siria's blue eyes blinked and looked towards the Tycho, expecting an answer that would at least be interesting. The Senator of Ord Tidell was a bold one, if nothing else. Thankfully the Speaker and the Prime Minister wasn't the type to lose sight of why they were here. People don't hear well with their mouths open

Senator Berand was about to give a reply to what he was now mentally referring as the Jedi Defense League when a voice rang out through out the room. He had been expecting someone in the room to ask where he got the images, he hadn't expected that person to be the Prime Minister of the Free Worlds. Nonetheless he was prepared, it may end up with him getting yelled at but even the anger of the Prime Minister would hopefully not compare to encountering the Eternal in person. "Unfortunately, I am not at liberty to disclose my source. As a Senator I have the privilege of receiving information from concerned citizens throughout the galaxy, not just Ord Tindell. Revealing my source would destroy their trust in me. I am afraid I will be maintaining the confidentiality of my informant." Tycho took a breath, that should hopefully suffice on staving off inquiries. Technically it was all true, even if he was himself the informant. Crisis hopefully averted.

Tycho went on the offensive next.
"As for whether the attack was in question or not. It is in question. Independent worlds throughout the galaxy have the right to associate with who they wish. These Free Worlds, nor anyone in this galaxy have the right to tell them how to run their worlds. That is for them to decide. We are not the Galactic Empire, nor are we the First Order. We do not traipse across the galaxy killing whoever disagrees with us. When we have disagreements we do not resort to sending in the military. We send in the diplomats. We debate. We find common ground. When we have exhausted every option, is when we finally consider the use of the force. Tell me Prime Minister, how many diplomats did you send to Sullust to negotiate for the release of Sector Ranger Trys Aran?" He stopped, letting the words linger. Before addressing the senate once more.

"Here are the facts of the matter. The Jedi invaded the world of Sullust in nothing but the name of friendship. The world of Sullust is an independent world that can associate with whomever they so choose. As can any world in the galaxy. We do not invade Kessel because they sell spice. We do not invade Nar Shaddaa because of the criminal syndicates that rule there. We do not invade worlds that practice slavery despite how despicable it is. If this Senate so desires to express its displeasure with these worlds then I have a proposal."

Tycho grabbed the paper packet he was holding and stood now, bringing up onto displays a digital copy for his fellow senators to read. "This proposal I am putting forth will introduce the following. It will formally denounce the Sith and their allies. Those worlds that harbor the Sith or provide them with supplies I propose that we grant the Prime Minister the power to impose economic sanctions for as long as they continue to do so. In the event that we encounter extreme situations I propose we also grant the Prime Minister the power to impose blockades. These are the major changes I put forth." Tycho took a deep breath. This next part would likely give the rest of the chamber whiplash with the direction he was going.

"In addition. Although I disagree with the Jedi's ways I recognize these facts. For thousands of generations, the Jedi were an ally to the Republic until they were betrayed, and even after that. They were guardians of peace and justice across the galaxy long before we born, and hopefully for long after we die. I propose that we grant a voice to the Jedi in these chambers. I recognize that the Jedi have long denied power, but they have served the galaxy for millennia, and they have long since deserved a voice. Besides, we have long since needed a voice of reason in these chambers." He paused slightly, a horrible joke, but his speechwriter told him he needed to break up the seriousness somewhere.

"Furthermore I propose we provide funding to the Jedi in the form of ships, equipment, training, credits, etc. As we have seen from the past events in the galaxy, the Sith are returning and they have threatened our way of life. The Jedi since their inception have been enemies with the Sith, and if the Sith mean to fight us we should become allies with the experts in their destruction. I will introduce this formally tomorrow. I hope by the end of the week we can vote on it." Speech done, Tycho gave a bow before sitting down to gauge the response of the chambers. Not the intent for this session, but asking the Jedi their intentions was a formality. History told them all they needed to know.

Max had noticed the pheromones and had been considering how best to give Kori the signal to tone it down, to control herself, when it was taken out of his hands. The Prime Minister of the FWA stared down at him from her position and he met her gaze levelly, trying to not make it seem like a challenge as he bowed his head slightly to her.

"Apologies Prime Minister Rue, Nykoria can sometimes become quite nervous when it comes to large groups."
he bowed his head once more, "Should the chamber wish it, I am sure that she would not object to removing herself from the room for the time being."

She had better not.

He wasn't going to get into an intergalactic incident because Kori had let slip some pheromones slip out. Honestly? He really hoped that it had been nerves. Because if she had honestly thought consciously releasing a mind-altering biological agent into a room full of senators was a good idea, he was going to have words with Oren about her competency.

The gaze of both the Prime Minister and Senator Berand lifted from the Jedi to focus on each other - though he would privately admit that this seemed like a discussion that the senate should have already had. Trade sanctions and blockades were something that didn't even slightly involve the Jedi, though he appreciated them being present during such important talks.

Senator Berand's proposal was... odd.

Funding, support and backing were all very much appreciated and the ties that those would create between the Order and the FWA would be excellent but only to a point. The Jedi Order, in no uncertain terms, would become a division of the FWA government or military force and that was not an option that they could entertain. But it was an unfinished proposal he believed.

But he didn't verbally respond to the proposal by the senator at first, instead turning slightly to address Oren and Kori.

"We should let the senators discuss these... proposals amongst themselves."
he reasoned first, before speaking aloud to the senate, "The Jedi delegation is happy to step outside should the senate wish to discuss these proposals by the Senator Berand amongst themselves first."

Caliban had been happy to listed and observe, he was the new kid on the block here, better to not step on any toes till he got a grip on how things worked in the Senate. That was till one of the senators started spewing crap about sources and being discrete. THis wasn't the first time he was facing such a situation, and the lawyer in him could not let things pass. So once he got the opportunity, he finally spoke up.

"Thank you for the offer Master Jedi," he started, nodding to the Jedi with the scar over his eye as he offered to step out to let the Senators discuss amongst themselves, "but please stay a moment at least, there is something I would have the Jedi be here for. As first hand witnesses." He turned his attention to the talkative senator from Ord Tindell. "I am sure you will appreciate the need for verification of information, you are not a reporter, rather a Senator. We act on facts, not assurances. A quick look at the history books will tell you that the Sith are masters at manipulating the flow of information, so forgive me if we don't take what you say at face value. I second the Prime Minister's request that you share any and all information you have on the events that occurred on Sullust. You see, it is my understanding that not many knew of Senator Snowell's involvement, the fact that you know this and about the presence of a Sector Ranger that even Chief Hudson was unaware off might be indicative of a rather vital security breach within our ranks." He was in his element now, no longer the rookie Senator, but the seasoned litigator who was dealing with an uncooperative witness.

"Prime Minister, I request that this information be shared with at least those with appropriate clearance to look into it. If we are to take any side in this conflict, and this is very much a conflict, then we must not go in with a handicap that could hurt us some day."

The Prime Minister called the meeting to order. It was probably for the best. Without someone to moderate the talks, the discussion could spiral out of control. Alas, it meant that most of the vocal delegates and senators were chastised. Some more than once, Nykoria included. This didn't bode well—first impressions were important.

But that worked both ways, and so far Kori wasn't impressed. Perhaps due to the years away from civilization on Ajan Kloss, she had expected something else from the Senate and its leader. But what she saw was arrogance, ignorance, and condescending attitude. It wasn't just the emotions that the Zeltron sensed, but the behavior. The Prime Minister either didn't know who Nykoria was—though she must've been informed about the delegates and their ranks—or simply went for a quip there. In Kori's eyes, either of the options were equally unbecoming.

The Togruta did have a point about the phermones though. Nodding after Max's remark, Nykoria stepped back and called upon the Jedi teachings to calm herself. Both from the pre-meeting anxiety and from the Prime Minister's rather rude remark, intentional or not. Although Zeltrons could produce pheromones at will, some of the reactions were unconscious. Kori didn't know the details, but they most likely depended on how the surrounding people treated them, and whether the Zeltron could withdraw from that. The particular Zeltron could. Hopefully, the pheromones would no longer be a problem.

Kori would then remain silent, arms crossed. Apparently, it was Oren's turn to get chastised. Sure, the Councillor could get carried away with Force-related matters sometimes. But it still gnawed at the Zeltron that the Minister talked down to Oren like that. So much arrogance in Prime Minister's words... Yet for all that, the Sith were expanding and building up their power, as evidenced by Ryloth, Sullust, and Malastare. In the meantime, the Free Worlds... had their Sector Ranger HQs attacked and didn't seem to bother with the bigger picture. Perhaps because they thought all those worlds were too far away to pose an issue just yet.

It wasn't all bad though. At least the Prime Minister disregarded Sullust and focused on the Jedi-bashing senator. Who... seemed to have made a U-turn afterwards and suggested to support the Jedi. The Zeltron wasn't sure what to make of it just yet. So for now, unless addressed, she'd let Max—the only one who had somehow eluded the Prime Minister's sass—to do the talking. Especially after the FWA's own dirty linen was brought into public by the senators.

What in the blue hell was going on here? Soygun York was beginning to think this whole thing was a cluster. He flipped his microphone on and cut in.

"Members of the Senate, representatives of the Jedi Order, this is an odd way and an unfortunate time to introduce myself to most of you. I am Soygun York, Senator of Kattada, a peaceful planet. It has been throughout most of its history, and the people of my planet would like to keep it that way."

He turned to Senator Berand and made a show of looking perplexed. "Did the senator from Ord Tindell not take history class? The Senate has raised an army before. The Senate has provided the leaders of this body great wartime and economic powers before without the need for approval from the Senate. How did that turn out, Senator? Let me remind you: We gave an army to a Sith Lord. Clone troopers turned into stormtroopers overnight."

He turned his attention to the Jedi. "And if memory serves me correctly, it was a Jedi, a member of the Jedi Council, that was the Sith Lord turned emperor's primary weapon of treason against the Republic." This was a direct reference to Anakin Skywalker who would be known to most in the galaxy as Darth Vader.

York turned back to the Senate and pushed his hands outward in question. "Why is our first response to go to war? We have not spoken once of diplomacy. We have not tried to bring anyone to the table to see if war if can be prevented, or at the very least delayed. We call ourselves the Free Worlds Alliance, but if we are at war, we are not free! We become slaves to conflict and war is our master!"

The senator would lean forward and place his hands on his desk and shake his head in disbelief, as if wondering how they got to this point so quickly. "Perhaps war is inevitable. But this body, the FWA...we are not prepared for it. We owe it to the people we represent to try to prevent the death and destruction that accompanies war, or at least delay it while we, the FWA, create a military alliance amongst ourselves. We need central organization, but to prevent the mistakes that created the Empire of fear and oppression, all systems and planets in the FWA must pledge their allegiances to their own planets, to their own people, to their own systems. We sure don't need to raise taxes on our citizens, create weapons of war and then not have control of them because we gave them to the Jedi! If we take the same steps as we did in the Clone Wars, we damn well deserve what we get!"

He would let that resonate before turning back to the Jedi. "To be clear, I do not mean to insult you or the current Order. History has a way of magnifying mistakes and minimizing the good in everyone and every organization. I have no doubt to your sincerity to doing what is right and just." He softened a bit more and opened his hand to them. "Am I wrong to say that fighting the Sith in a traditional war is a war we would be bound to lose? It may not even be warships and blockades you are looking for. What we have not heard from you is what do you want from us? That would help our discussions greatly." He stepped back away from his desk and said, "I yield."

The hand that pressed down gently but with enough strength on his right shoulder to prevent him from rising to his feet kept Morndell seated, teeth gnashing in anger at Senator Berand's cunning yet appropriate use of his informant's rights to remain anonymous. He knew well enough that the confidentiality was for the benefit of the informant, but the newly-elected Chalactan senator had an irrational inkling that it served Senator Berand's as well.

"Puñeta!" he muttered in disdain, knowing full well that he could not refute the claim. Years of working in the Marines had Mordnell employed the same thing, and to call the senator of Ord Tindell out for it was the height of hypocrisy.

Morndell listened as the man continued. Economic sanctions? Imposing blockades? Funding the Jedi's campaigns against the Sith?

"That's soft-speak for 'hey, let's militarize the Jedi!'" Edmund muttered with faux cheer, the young aide's face dark with anger. "Didn't this guy attend history class? Has he been missing updates on the Holonet lately? At least this Cali-dude gets the Sith's game."

Morndell turned to look at his companions just in time to witness Ramone smacked Edmund on the head. The younger between the two aides winced, rubbing a hand where it hurt.

"It's Senator Caliban Drast of Coruscant, pendejo," Ramone corrected him sternly, frowning disapprovingly at his fellow aide. He shifted his focus on Morndell before sweeping a hand at the discussion before them. "And besides, Senator Berand had a point on one thing: Sullust is an independent world. It can ally itself with whoever it wanted, even if it's with the Sith. And the other independent realms, for that matter. The fact that those not allied with the FWA nor habe a representative on the New Republic are liable to see the Jedi's rescue of Trys Aran as an attack."

Morndell rolled his eyes in irritation at Ramone's sound reasoning. Trust this one to find the logic in things. The senator would have hated it if he didn't appreciate the kind of thinking Ramone always offered.

"But I have to agree with Rusty. Militarizing the Jedi would be repeating the mistakes of the past. The Jedi needs alliance and support, but not the kind that they would–"

"–become a military or government division of the FWA," Morndell supplied, tipping his hat in approval of Ramone's words. His attention then shifted on the involvement of one particular senator on Sullust. "Perhaps Senator Snowell should speak for herself with regards to Sullust. Her words will either corroborate with the Jedi or disprove the latter's claim. And maybe she can shed light on the issue of a Sector Ranger's involvement–"

A dreamy sigh cut off the senator's words. Both Morndell and Ramone turned to look at Edmund who sat straighter on his seat at the very mention of the Corellian senator, craning his neck this way and that as if in search for someone.

"–and if said Ranger can... Rusty, Ramone and I knew that you admire good Senator Snowell, but please focus on the important matters at hand," Morndell continued, sending his youngest aide spluttering both in indigantion and embarrassment. Ramone hid a chuckle with an ill-disguised cough.

Morndell turned to face the congregation once more, finding sense in Senator York's words and mulling over it. Chalacta had never been a power player in the galaxy, and while he did not wish harm upon his homeworld, he found his people prepared to give everything they had to offer to ensure the galaxy's peace.

He would remain quiet and let anyone answer or share whatever they needed sharing, for now. He had had his turn earlier, even if it sounded as if he would gladly march to war without a care for anything. Morndell despised war, but if it was war the FWA would get from the Sith, then he would hit just as hard – hopefully with an alliance beside his people.

Oren and the Jedi would step out of the room, at the suggestion of Max's request. It made the most sense for them to step away and let the senators discuss among themselves. This was a world far different from the one Oren had ever handled in his life. It was clear to him now, on why the Jedi of old had fallen at the hands of the Republic. This was not the Jedi Way, but the Council Member kept those thoughts to himself as the door closed from the outside.

"I am out of my depths in this position, I will give Max the floor to speak further on this subject with them, he represents the Order in this moment." Oren would say as he looked to his aging Jedi friend, "I trust in you both in this mission." The Jedi Master would say as he placed a hand on both of their shoulders before stepping away from them both and heading down the hall.

Perhaps the Order had grown past what Oren could provide them, it seemed things in the galaxy had become that way. Gone were the days of simply traveling the galaxy and helping people, the council instead had spent their time mixed in politics that none of them truly understood.

Perhaps, they were not meant to be in the greater public, for it had not worked well for the Orders of the past. Different ideas and philosophies sprinkled through fragments of thoughts and memories, as he walked down the halls and towards the exit from the Senate Chamber. Though only a few prevailing thoughts came to mind as he walked down the steps -- The Council had failed the Order and the people they had sworn to protect. Perhaps, it is time that it be addressed, and the Jedi can become something beyond us and our hubris.

There were no answers that Oren could give the Senators outside of mysticism or philosophy, there was no plan in his eyes, only the force and helping those who needed it because that was the only thing he knew, because it was the right thing to do.
