As Renfry explained her... preference, Malicia turned away immediately and pretended to pick out a dress.

"I see," the tiny councillor replied, clearing her throat. She pressed the dress against herself as if she was seeing how it look on her, feeling her cheeks warm mightily against her will. She closed her eyes, trying to focus to push back against the feelings. It was difficult to simply squash her feelings for the Nightsister, but she wanted to.

And she would find a way. She'd seek to completely eliminate them, because she didn't want her friend to feel uncomfortable.

"I'm glad. I hoped you'd like the room,"
Malicia replied after a moment. When she got a better grip of herself she turned back around. "Though if you've never spent a day trying different clothing on, I suggest it. You don't have to go out with them on."

The small woman walked up to Renfry, holding out the light blue, tighter dress as if she was seeing what it'd look like on the Nightsister. "I think darker colours might suit you," Malicia said, with a soft smile. There were few people she felt safe smiling around, and Renfry was one of them.

"But I will not press the subject if it does not interest you. Will you need anything for your protection rune?" Malicia asked, tipping her head slightly as she did. "I hope it does not require... water."

Renfry hadn't meant it quite like that, but she'd said it anyway and they both seemed to want to move on from it. And it was entirely the Nightsister's fault. Moving on, she thought to herself as Malicia held up a dress.

Renfry looked it over. Although she had never been the dress wearing type, she supposed she could see the appeal. Perhaps.

Renfry squinted at the dress for a moment before speaking. You're probably right, she agreed. The Dathomirians were quite pale by genetics, and it seemed that darker color was likely to go better with her skin. or at least, that seemed true? This was hardly her specialty.

I don't see the harm, she said. It would be a nice distraction from the heap of tension that had mounted thus far.

I... might. I'll try to make due without, she said. Water actually did play a large role in some of her rituals, though she had yet to determine if it would be required in this one.

Do you have many opportunities to wear dresses and... fancy things? she asked. @Dread

Malicia kept the dress held up for Renfry to inspect it, smiling a little more once she agreed to trying on outfits. The "try to make due" comment made the smile falter, but she trusted the other Darth to do as she said. There was no reason to doubt her... Malicia hoped.

There was a handful of seconds that Malicia didn't answer the question. She went into the walk-in closet, grabbing the only empty hanger and placing the dress carefully back on it. She put it into the correct spot it had come out of, carefully so she didn't push any other dress out of their correct spots.

"I did not before but now I have more spare time to," she replied, looking through other dresses, but not moving the hangers on the wrack. "Even with all the reports I am required to read."

Malicia spotted a highly customized black dress, pulling it out and holding it. "But even before I found out I was pregnant I gave myself twenty four hours to try on every combination of clothing possible in this closet," she admitted, walking back to Renfry and offering the dress to her to see if she wanted to try it on, "I enjoyed trying them on much more than I thought I would."

Thinking about the appeal of wearing certain outfits and how it could draw others, a thought occurred to the small councillor, "So... may I ask if you have acquired a husband for an heir with yet?" Renfry was also a queen, after all.

Renfry listened to what Malicia said, wondering if the other woman truly had that little time to herself. But then, Renfry didn't have that much time to herself either. What little time she had when she wasn't managing the Clans or expanding her power was spent studying magick and the Shadow. Yes, she understood what the other Darth said.

She looked at the dress the other woman brought out and took it, looking at it with an evaluative eye. She moved to disappear into the other room, intending to slip out of her clothing and into the dress to give it a try.

And she was glad to no longer be exactly in the same room when Malicia's final question came. Her gut jumped a bit at the question, and she felt a bit awkward about the question.

Uh... no, she said after a moment. She'd been considering asking Emryc, but... that was a bit weird now. The thought made her face turn a bit red.

I think an heir might not be... in the immediate future, she said. She hadn't given much thought to children until she conquered Dathomir. It had never been high on her priority list, and now that she might need one the idea made her... she didn't even know. Confused?

She emerged a few moments later in the dress, shifting a bit in it as she came out. It was clear she hadn't worn many dresses before, and she felt a bit constricted in it. Still, she supposed she could see why people wore them for special occasions and the like. She did enjoy looking good on occasion. @Dread

Malicia listened to her friends answer, deciding to leave the subject for now. Instead she watched the woman emerge from the dressing room, albeit somewhat awkwardly. "You could use some etiquette classes, but the dress fits your figure as I expected," Malicia said, tapping her chin with a finger for a second.

Her body turned and she went to a dresser, reaching in one of its drawers and pulling out a small box. She opened it, turning and presenting it to the other Darth. Inside the box was a collection of earrings, necklaces and some rings, all gold but with various gems.

A knock on the door caught Malicia's attention before she could say anything else to Renfry. "Enter," the small Sith said plainly. A large pureblood walked in and his red eyes went instantly to the Nightsister. They moved as he looked her up and down before returning his attention back on his queen, "Your Majesty," he said with a bow. "Jogen has been brought back from the Korriban temple, as ordered."

Malicia nodded and the pureblood knew to leave after. He looked back at the Nightsister one more time before he turned and left. The small Sith's attention returned to the Nightsister. She was still holding the jewellery box out for her, though Malicia tipped her head slightly, not explaining who Jorgen was and shifting the conversation slightly, "How long will it take you to prepare the rune once you start?"

Renfry came out and frowned. Did you just insult me? she asked, referencing the etiquette class comments, though it was clear from her expression and tone that it was a joke.

Someone knocked on the door as Renfry started looking through the jewelry, a bit wide eyed. She found a ring set with an emerald that reminded her of the glow of Dathomir's magick.

But she looked up from the jewelry to the man who had entered, eyeing her as Renfry looked back at him. Who was Jogen? It probably didn't matter to Renfry, but she kept looking at the pureblood with a vague frown as usual. She had many mixed feelings.

Uh, right, she said, shaking her mind back to the rituals. She was curious who Jogen was, but didn't ask for now.

I'm not sure, I'll need to do some investigating tonight. Probably not long, she said, setting the jewelry down and pushing her hair back a bit.

I should probably get to that, actually, she said, realizing that she actually had quite a bit of work to do before the ritual tomorrow.

Where can I find you if I need something? she asked, pausing outside the dressing room where she intended to change back into her "working clothes" again. @Dread

Malicia lowered the jewellery box, nodding at the Nightsisters comments and turning to see the woman pause outside the dressing room. "If you want to wear more airy clothing around the palace, such as that dress, you're free to do so," Malicia commented at first, before Renfry went in and took it off.

It wasn't the question Renfry asked, and it somewhat referenced the awkward conversation earlier, but Malicia didn't feel awkward about the comment. She was fine if the Nightsister wanted to be a little more comfortable.

"I planned to do a trace on my bloodline tonight," the small Darth answered, placing the box back down. "Maybe I should do that now. I never thought it was necessary before, but it might be beneficial for my children to know."

A bracelet reflected some of Korriban's fading light from the box, catching Malicia's attention. She traced around it while she thought. "I'm aware my linage comes from Serreno, and that the Cadre project targeted bloodlines that produced strong Force Users."

But that was it.

Did she have family on Serreno still, she wondered? Why was that even a thought to her? Did she want to meet them? Why would she? She was Sith, they were likely nothing. Then again, she was creating a family now. The thoughts were conflicting.

"After the trace you'll find me back on the deck," she mentioned. The palace had a few decks, but Renfry probably knew she was referring to the dining room deck.

Renfry laughed a bit awkwardly, thinking of her rather awkward comment she'd made earlier.

Thanks, but I'll probably just change back to my clothes, she said a bit awkwardly. She was fairly certain she'd be more comfortable in her own things rather than a dress, but she did appreciate the offer.

She listened to what Malicia said as she changed back into her own clothing and reemerged. Tracing lineages and bloodlines? It was somewhat odd to Renfry. While the Nightsisters had a certain amount of record keeping particularly as it tied to Clans, for the most part, they were all family. What they were was far more important than who their parents were.

Why? she asked. Even her interest in potentially having an heir was because of who she was, not her history.

You're Malicia, a Councilor of the Sith. Does it matter who your parents were if you never knew them? she asked and then paused.

Sorry, that was probably rude of me, she realized aloud and cleared her throat, quickly hoping to move on to the next topic.

Okay, I'll likely be here, she said, though perhaps she'd take a walk... in the dry... arid... blisteringly hot sun. Maybe not.

We do the ritual tomorrow, then? she confirmed.

The small council member looked at the Nightsister. Malicia was surprised and it reflected on her face, though shortly after she smiled. The smile had an unusual softness to it and that softness travelled all the way to the councillors eyes. "It wasn't rude," Malicia answered unusually softly, turning to fully face the Nightsister.

Even it wasn't the point of the comment, it meant something to have a friend, someone she respected, speak highly of her. She hadn't realized something like it would. Then again, she hadn't expected to find a friend in the first place. "Thank you. I appreciate your thoughts and wisdom."

The councillor didn't expand beyond that, though she'd taken the Nightsisters words to heart. She was more convinced that she didn't need to bother meeting with whatever family she had. Perhaps she'd still get the information, but seal it away for her children to decide later if they wanted it or not.

"Lets do it tomorrow," Malicia said with a nod. "Though, again, I do hope there wont be any... water."

Malicia turned, allowing her earlier nod to be her "good night" and walked out. She pulled her datapad out of her pocket and lowered her yellow eyes to it. The datapads black screen brightened into a list of Malicia's messages. Raze's name was on the list and her eyes lingered there for a moment. Feelings surfaced, heavy ones that she suppressed to remain outwardly strong, feelings that she tried to immediately drown again.

Bringing some relief, her cultists arrived and they took what they needed to start tracing her linage. She instructed them to put their findings on a datapad and then walked back to the deck. Standing with one hand on the railing and one on her belly, she leaned forward to take a little more weight off her body. Her yellows stared into the distance and after a long moment her mind began playing through some memories, memories she knew she shouldn't think about.

She missed Raze. It hurt to even allow the thought to surface. She left the deck and went to bed.

----In the Morning---

The dining room table was cleared of last nights feast, and cleaned. As Malicia entered it her cultists were setting up two chairs and two breakfasts. Malicia didn't actually know what was on the plates, but apparently whatever it was was traditional pureblood breakfast. It just looked like meat to her, but even though the small council member had become incredibly controlling of her environment, she still wasn't a picky eater. She sat down at one of the chairs and picked up a drink, taking a sip of the hot beverage first.

Renfry hadn't gotten a great deal of sleep during the night. She had spent a great deal of the night awake, pouring over her grimoire. There was no inherent spell or ritual that involved protecting a pair of infants from possession. In fact, it was quite the opposite. The rituals had been about binding spirits to infants. In order to do what she was hoping, she needed to combine that ritual with another ritual designed to reverse the binding.

On the bright side, she'd managed to come up with something that didn't need water. The downside was that it required something else that was far more unsavory.

The new ritual was written down in detail in her grimoire and she had gone to bed. She had promptly tossed and turned most of the night, bothered by the new revelation about Malicia and Raze. She was thankful when the morning light finally came.

She made her way out to the breakfast area and poured herself a cup of caf. Caf was one of those few off-worlder things that she was amazed by and had grown to deeply enjoy.

Morning, she said, seeing Malicia and taking a seat. She didn't know what precisely the food was, but she didn't even seem to bat an eye at it. It was meat, and therefore fair game as far as the Nightsister was concerned. She enjoyed - or at least could tolerate - virtually any game.

I think I found a way to do what you're hoping, she said. But it requires... well, maybe we should discuss that after breakfast, she said, realizing that such an unsavory topic might not go well while eating. That wasn't "socially appropriate" right?
