NAME: Amos McCord
FACTION: Sector Rangers
RANK: Ranger
SPECIES: Human
AGE: 39
GENDER: Male
HEIGHT: 5’9”
WEIGHT: 157lbs
FORCE SENSITIVE: Nope

APPEARANCE:

At first glance, one could mistake Amos McCord for a low-level business executive who has just gotten off from a long day at the office. A second glance, taking in the streaks of grey in his short brown hair/moustache and his world-weary expression, would seemingly indicate that he is an unsuccessful businessman at that. In fact, Amos W. McCord’s appearance can be best described as “washed-out professional”; his ironed, button-down white shirts are neither completely wrinkle free nor exactly white, his ties have abandoned all pretext of being tightly cinched around his neck, and a seemingly permanent 5-o’clock shadow covers his jawline. His suits, often an unnoteworthy shade of grey, are slightly ill-fitting, and the loopholes on his belt show that he has recently admitted defeat and loosened it a notch. His eyes mimic his hair; brown and tired, and his posture is such that he rarely reaches his full height. As a consequence of the copious amounts of reading he does, he has developed nearsightedness and wears glasses to correct it. All in all, Amos is easy to overlook; you might walk right by him on the street and never even know he’s there.

ATTRIBUTES:

Amos would prefer that you forget he is even in the room; it makes his job as a psychologist for the Sector Rangers that much easier, for behind his disarming appearance is a shrewd mind that efficiently sorts and analyzes new information. Amos certainly doesn’t look the part of a Ranger, having neglected the physical training regimen for several years now, but he’s not getting paid a humble wage to chase bad guys. Amos is incredibly perceptive, particularly when it comes to creatures’ emotional states, and applies his insights to both criminal profiles and shell-shocked Rangers. In addition, Amos has always had a talent for reading human body language, and almost 15 years on the job have expanded his repertoire to include many alien species as well; he is one of only a few Rangers capable of understanding Lekkuli, the Twi’lek species’ lekku sign language. His talents have made him a valuable resource for the Rangers, but while his door is always open his existence is a lonely one; his fellow Rangers rarely seek him out unless they need something from him.

Amos’ skillset has largely kept him out of the field and behind a desk where he prepares psych profiles on criminals, provides counseling and fitness evaluations for both active-duty and retired Rangers, and occasionally assists in crisis negotiation. The sedentary requirements of his job, however, leave him lacking the conditioning and combat skills of his peers; although he has previously received training in the areas of field training and marksmanship, his skills in these areas are far below Sector Ranger standards.

PERSONALITY:

Amos tends to be reserved and observant, choosing not to dominate a conversation- unless it is necessary to obtain more insight into someone. He is willing to stretch the rules a little to get results, because he knows that his clients-Rangers or otherwise- rarely fall into neat categories. He is a careful steward of people's privacy, however, and his refusal to be satisfied with an "open and shut case" has saved more than one innocent from jail time . Amos prides himself on seeing the big picture and despite his tendency to be disorganized, he is thorough in his work. Amos is a bit of a workaholic and is often found at his desk late in the evening, nursing a mug of tea, alongside a stack of papers.

BIOGRAPHY:
Amos graduated from Coronet City College where he double majored in Psychology and Counseling. After completing an internship and obtaining his license he briefly opened up a private practice aimed at underserved communities, but was forced to close when the Pyke Syndicate expanded their influence into his neighborhood. Encouraged by a tattered recruiting poster to “Join the Sector Rangers- See the Galaxy!”, Amos enlisted for the opportunity to do good on a larger scale. He served for 5 years as an analyst on Coruscant before being transferred to Outpost Blue, where he has spent the last 10 years. Despite the opportunity for advancement, Amos has turned down higher positions in favor of staying in his current one, noting that the higher up the command chain he went the more recognizable and less approachable he would be. Amos is now entering his 16th year in the service.
