Galactic Alliance
Society and Culture

The Galactic Alliance has a very diverse culture, though Humans remain the most dominant species in the Alliance and the galaxy, as well as the most numerous. Member worlds are able to maintain their own culture in accordance with local beliefs, customs, and traditions.

There is a wide variety of different cultures within the Alliance, from religious communities like the New Jedi Order to hive-like communities. The Alliance also has a liberal policy towards arts. The dominant aesthetic style is opulence and ornamentation.

Although Humanocentrism is outlawed by the Rights of Sentience clause of the Galactic Alliance Common Charter, it still exists throughout the life of the Alliance. Human-led companies, most on the fringes of the Alliance, will sometimes enslave entire nonhuman races, while other planets reserved the best sections of the world for Humans while forcing non-Humans to live in ghettos. The majority of the slaves in the galaxy are non0Human.

The Alliance's influence on the galactic economy is linked to its regulatory powers, production of Galactic Credits, and authorization of relevant bodies. At the heart of the economy is planetary trade. Intraplanetary trade can support a local economy, but the high levels of government spending required for an advanced society can only be funded by interplanetary exports. While some planets maintain their own shipping fleets, most rely on large freight firms or independent freight haulers to carry their goods along major hyperlanes. All working beings are required to pay income taxes, which are collected by the Galactic Alliance Tax Collection Agency.
