Jaikus had to bite back the urge to gag - both from the smell, and from the sight of the.. Thing, that blocked the hallway up ahead. The Axxilan was utterly disgusted - and it reminded him far too much of his trip to Keldooine with Emryc. His jaw set into a firm line, fingers twitching down towards the blaster pistol and blade on his hip.

Which is about when Tiamat barfed on the back of his boots.

“THE HELL?!” He shrieked, which combined with Tiamat’s own shrieking, very much alerted the monster of their presence. The Axxilan flailed and shook his boot - until he was forced to actually address the thing shambling towards them.

Drawing both pistol and vibroblade, Jaikus loosed two bolts directly into the monster’s center mass - followed by the throw of his dagger. With the Force billowing behind the weapon, it spun like a buzzsaw through the air - finding purchase through the monster’s drooling maw. It punched deep into the flesh and elicited a screech from the monster, causing it to halt in place and writhe in agony. It wasn’t dead yet, but it gave them both an opportunity to finish the job.

“TIAMAT BE HELPFUL!”

Tiamat was on her own time as Jaikus seemed to take charge of assaulting the creature that was an abomination to what one could consider living in the first place. She wiped her lip with the back of her hand, trying to keep herself from throwing up more as Jaikus used his pistol to shoot the blob, which didn't seem do much damage until he released the dagger, using the Force to give the weapon greater potency when it hit the creature.

The screech it let out made Tiamat flinch, certain she was going to be hearing that sound in her sleep and felt really annoyed she was here dealing with this. Her attention drew back to the problem that still seemed to be flailing in agony and Jai yelling for her to be helpful. She snapped Jai a look, as though she was entirely insulted by him assuming she was not helping. The Force vibrated with her power, the chill of the dark side was greater than the cold of the ocean that surrounded this ancient lab. The vats that had carried the decayed creatures of once the greatest cloning experiences cracked and shattered further. Fluid flooded around their ankles, but the glass shards remained in Tiamat's grasp as she jutted her palm, directing where she wanted them to go and into the abomination.

It screeched again, blood and other forms of bile oozed and gushed from it, and Tiamat ignited her blade. The Force screamed as she continued to cut into the creature, looking for moment when the shards would dig deep enough to cause the creature to bleed uncontrollably.

Jaikus had to resist the urge to vomit right then and there - watching as the flood of clone juices spread across the floor. He felt it soak into his boots and squelch with every step he took, made worse by the congealed, jello-like bodies that tumbled out of the broken cloning technology. A variety of different races, half-melted and twisted by variety experiments, were all that remained from the ancient Kaminoan testing.

Curiously, the the unique liquid they had been floating in - black and almost oil-like in appearance - was smeared around the lips of the abomination they fought, oozing from its maw and stringing with saliva between its teeth. A few of the tanks were, additionally, only partially full.

Without a whole lot of guessing, Jaikus and Tiamat would quickly decipher that the abomination had been drinking from the vats and consuming the dead experiments. Perhaps that was what had twisted and misshapen it to begin with.. Or maybe it was just hungry after so many years.

“Taaaunnnn VIIIIIIIII!!” The creature flailed and hissed, feeling as Tiamat’s blade and the shards of glass tore through its body. It’s hissing became screaming, and screaming became shrieks of pain - its voice high pitched and almost animal-like as it was ripped to pieces, almost canine-like. What constituted the final blow was difficult to say, but when it was finally struck, the creature seized in place. The inner lining of its stomach was cut open enough to burst like a balloon - releasing a flood of cloning juices, blood, and its half-digested kin onto the floor. And then it went completely still, dead and still blocking the hallway for the both of them.

Jaikus was silent as a crypt for a few seconds, utterly taken aback by what he was seeing. It couldn’t have gotten worse and yet, somehow, it did. For all the ways that he wanted this piece of tech and had worked for it, the Axxilan utterly despised the underwater lab and immediately regretted the decision to come in the first place. His fist balled together, jaw setting into a firm line.

Out of nowhere, the Axxilan threw his vibroblade once more - lodging it deep into the skull of the abomination. Out of nothing but pure spite. “I fucking hate this place.” He hissed, proceeding to walk towards the abomination. Without a word, he stopping in front of it and put his hands together, as if prepared to boost someone over the creature.

“Come on,” He grumbled, entirely serious.

Even if Tiamat protested, the redhead would find their options limited. The abomination had collapsed in the middle of the hallway and blocked their exit - and the room was simply too narrow for them to move it out of the way with the Force. If they wanted to proceed forward, physically climbing over was their best bet.

The woman winced to the screams and cries of the creature but was more appauld by the sudden swelling and bursting of blood, bile, and other unknown bio-liquids that flowed from the creature. The smell, which she thought couldn't be any worse, was in fact, worse and the woman turned her head again, hauling up whatever stomach contents remained. It didn't help, but at least there was nothing left for her to eject from her body also. She saw how it blocked their path and Jaikus threw his vibroblade into the skull of the creature, expressing his opinion of this place.

He walked closer to the creature and reluctantly, Tiamat followed. He looked like he was ready to boost her over and Force moved around Jai as she raised her palm, lifting him over the creature. She would follow, propelling herself with grace over the creature and landing with a sloppy splash in the fluids that covered the floor.

"I am burning all of these clothes when we leave." she growled, "I'm glad we took your ship and not mine for this." she told him thinking about the smell and wonder how long it would take to get out of his ship with them on board.

Jaikus let out a small gasp as he was lifted through the air - effectively thrown over the top of the creature. While normally a well-known klutz, the Axxilan managed to gracefully land on his feet on the other side, splashing in a puddle of ooze from the dead clone experiments. When Tiamat joined him, the Axxilan only scowled. “You’re the worst,” He grumbled.

“I’m making you take a swim before you set foot on my carpets.” Jaikus said extremely matter-of-factly. There was no chance in hell that the Axxilan was going to ruin the interior of his Coronet-Class transport by getting clone juices into it. How was he even supposed to get that smell out?

Maybe burning the clothes was the right option after all.

Luckily for the pair, their destination wasn’t much farther. Reaching the end of the hallway, a set of doors opened to reveal a much more pristine laboratory inside. It was clear that nothing had breached this section of the facility yet, or had been programmed specifically to stay away from it. Stark white walls and equipment lined their field of vision, with a few tanks of light blue liquid suspended above a terminal. It was clearly one of the few Cloning tanks that was still functional - employing the very same technology that Jaikus was looking for.

“Jackpot..” He muttered quietly, walking up to the terminal itself. He blinked a few times, and then promptly looked back to Tiamat. “Think you’d be able to slice into it?”

Tiamat grinned widely as he mumble about her being the worst, "At least I still got my good looks." she hummed and flipped her hair over her shoulders. She would be more than happy to burn her clothes if it meant it rid the smell. She was certain months from now it was still going to linger and was relieved she didn't have to worry about cleaning it out of her ship. Though, she was even more relieved to see they were reaching the databases. She hoped they were intact, with basic life support systems and being so many meters under the ocean, she would be surprised if it held up and was still functioning. Internally, she grimaced at the numerous bugs in the system that she'd have to file through.

Inside was completely different, that grimace now becoming externalized as Jai headed over to the terminal seeming enthused to have found something. When he looked at her, he would see she looked concerned, "This place is ancient...in computer terms." she said pulling her pack off her shoulder, "It should be easy getting inside, but pulling data, I will just have to see how salvageable it would be." she said hooking several cords into the terminal side as she watched it load on her holopad. She glanced at Jai, "Don't worry, I'll get the data." she reassured as she got to work slicing through the firewalls.

"So what is your interest in cloning? I didn't take you to be a biology guy."

Jaikus couldn’t help some bit of concern that manifested across his expression. He knew the treasure trove that they had walked in on, but also knew the risks that the data would simply be unattainable by conventional methods. It was almost worse than if they hadn’t found the facility at all - seeing the prize and being unable to grasp it fully.

When Tiamat offered her reassurance, Jaikus only smiled. “If anyone can do it, you will be able to.” He said genuinely.

“My treat afterwards?” He offered. A good lunch seemed like decent compensation for.. Well. Everything that had happened. Jaikus leaned his body weight against an adjacent wall, watching as Tiamat silently went to work on the terminal. Her question didn’t surprise him, and he pondered it for a moment before answering.

“It certainly isn’t my first love,” He said, offering a shrug. “But I doubt I’ll need to be involved with the nitty-gritty of the science.” Jaikus could easily hire people for that. He only needed to run things from the top.

“There is a void in the market for it. Recreation cloning for parents, medical replacement therapies..” He paused, “Security forces.”

“I have the funding and means to fill that void, and this tech will put me far ahead of the curve of any competition.”

After several minutes of slicing, Tiamat would find purchase in her endeavors - cutting past the firewall and other advances security features. Almost instantaneously, a holographic figure appeared - bearing the visage of a Kaminoan scientist.

“Welcome, to Labratory B569, authorized by central authority of Kamino. I am Doctor Taun Vi - programmed to provide assistance to all designated facility users.” The Holographic Kaminoan glanced between the two of them, clearly waiting for Directive. If they were paying attention, they might just recognize the name of the AI.

Tia listened carefully to Jaikus as he explained his interests. She occasionally gave him a quickly glance while he spoke, watching the coding come through on her holopad. He mentioned several facets of cloning technology and it seemed like it could be used in many industries, though his mention of security forces made her internally frown to the idea. The galaxy had once seen similar and it brought about many ethical questions historians had debated on for decades following.

Regardless, she kept working, shaking the metaphorical dust from the terminal as well as digging through her own mind to find what she knew on kaminoan technology. It wasn't necessarily considered a lost technology, but she was managing until she was able to break through the firewall and initiating the program.

The woman looked up as the holoimage of the Kaminoan looked between her and Jaikus. She had to resist inhaling in surprise when it mentioned its name, the same moans heard from the now dead creature: Taun Vi.

Tiamat plugged in another wire and begun download of the system.

"Thank you Taun Vi, we are transferring to a new facility, this one is no longer viable." she said looking at the holographic figure and back to the loading screen of the download, "We would be happy to have your assistance as we resume projects." she told it as she waited.
