If nothing else, at least the Rangers and the Jedi were talking now, though he wished it was under better circumstances.

He knew why their Order was under investigation, it was the same reason he and Ky had approached the Council to start their own. But things were different for those outside the Order, they were a strange group still to much of the outside world. He could understand, there were a thousand strange things in the galaxy and most people didn't have time or need to know them.

But right now the Sector Rangers wanted to know everything. And Saul was ready to share as much as he could.

Word had reached back to him that Rangers had been looking into Mimban, and so he put in the call. Travelling now to the Sector Ranger headquarters on Coruscant for a meeting with one of the led investigators, Saul rehearsed Mimban once more in his mind. This was not the first time he'd had to tell it, and likely not the last.

Entering the station, he was breathing deep, centering himself before the talk. He wanted to be clear, and clear in his intent. The Jedi and the Sector Rangers needed to be on the same page through all of this, and every Jedi who came through these walls had the job to make sure that was happening.

Jedi showing up to the Ranger station was becoming far more common than Trys was comfortable with. However, she was curiously surprised to hear about the man from Mimban show up. Trys hadn’t expected anyone she suspected to actually come forth like this. Then again, Oren was yet another Jedi that appeared to love punishing himself.

She stood in the back as the Jedi got processed and went through security. Once he came through, he would find her waiting. Her expression was difficult to read - she had gotten very good at maintaining a poker face. Trys said nothing, gesturing him over to one of the interview rooms.

She closed the door behind them and sat down, motioning for him to sit across from her. Trys looked him in the eye, mulling over her thoughts, “Do you consent to having me record this exchange?” He had come here voluntarily, and she couldn’t exactly force him to do anything.

The interview room wasn't exactly friendly, but he could have hardly expected it to be otherwise, this was a police station after all. And after their bump in funding they were like to take things particularly seriously if they wanted to keep it. Though from all he had heard, this investigation so far was nothing but serious.

Looking over at the Lieutenant that he was to speak to, he tried to take her in. But a well practiced stone face was all that was there to greet him. And he had no intent of using the Force in any way to sense her feelings, that wasn't likely to go down well. The Force was hardly something that wasn't suspicious itself in all of this.

Skkk-bhrk, his rebreather lurched as he took his seat and responded,

"I do" he answered simply, he wasn't certain of the decorum to be held in here, but for now he wasn't going to over complicate things,

"And I am prepared to answer any questions you might have" he continued after a pause,

"Where would you like to begin?"

Trys pulled out a recording device and clicked the button.

“Lieutenant Trys Aran present here with Jedi…” She would pause for him to state his name, “We are here to discuss the events that took place in Sulfanar Village on Mimban.”

Trys pulled out a datapad and slid it over to him. There was a video on it, “I am playing, for Jedi Knight Devan, the footage captured by a witness at Mimban,” She hit play and he would be able to see footage of himself up against the other Force user. The entire thing was on display, though the video was shaky and obviously taken in trembling and fearful hands.

“You know what happened there, so I assume you don’t need to see the whole thing,” Trys let it continue playing in the background regardless, her focus back on him, “The million credit question here is...why did you simply ask him to leave the planet? Why did you not capture or pursue such a monster?”

Skkk-bhrk,

"Saul Devan" he answered when prompted, ready to begin. Though what he did not expect was the footage Lieutenant Aryn provided of the scene. It was a strange feeling, seeing his body again before his injuries on Ifrane, without the cybernetic that had been attached to him now, without the scratching from his rebreather that began his every sentence. He may as well have been a different person. That he was here today meant that he wasn't.

Skkk-bhrk, he breathed in deep as he reflected, the words did not come so easily now he was faced with giving them once more,

"There were... a number of reasons"
he began slowly, trying to form the sentence properly before he spoke, his eyes meeting hers "Our duel was short, and I admit I doubted my ability to subdue him, given what he had done to the villagers there" it was a shame, and Jedi were not taught to doubt. But perhaps he had been afraid, it had been so long trying to remember what it was exactly took a moment,

"And with the hostage seemingly dead I had hope instead that I might be able to save her, or others of the village if I worked fast enough. That was what I had come to do before I had any inkling of a Dark Side force user being there" the words fell from his mouth, though he realised it didn't necessarily answer her question,

"I felt I could guarantee safety for some if I did that much" perhaps it had been a poor decision, he understood that. Perhaps the shock of dealing with something that vile blinded him at the time, trying to interpret what to do. He hoped Trys could see the trouble in his mind.

Trys listened to his explanation, and she was disappointed. He would be able to tell as much, and she crossed her arms over her chest. She stared at him for a moment, “And there is no trail of where he went? He could be out there in the galaxy committing mass murder elsewhere,” There was no hiding the tone of anger in her tone.

The man across from her was a Jedi, and he possessed powers similar to the culprit that killed the villagers. If he couldn’t stop them, then who could? Trys sighed and shook her head, switching off the recorder. There was not much they could do to punish Saul, really. He had ultimately stopped the murders from escalating, though it still allowed a killer to go free.

“Other Jedi are coming here asking to work with us,” Trys explained as she looked at him, recalling the multiple people that wanted to offer up their help, “How am I supposed to trust in that when Jedi freeze up when facing the very thing we need help with? When push comes to shove, are you going to simply politely ask them to walk away and let the Rangers do the work?”

She realized she was chastising him, and it wouldn’t be productive. Trys sighed and drummed her fingers on the table for a moment, “Why did you come here? There’s not much I can do with a ‘oops, sorry’ and no leads on this killer.”

It was true her frustration was plain as day, and in all honesty his own feelings on the matter by this point did echo hers somewhat. If he knew then what he did now, perhaps he would have pursued, or fought longer, harder, something. But at the time he hadn't. He had frozen up. Part of him thought he had good reason for it, but he knew that to anyone beyond the Order it certainly wouldn't seem like it,

Skkk-bhrk,

"That specific one, we haven't been able to find him, like he's gone off the map. But, myself but I followed a trail to Ukio, the same group attacked there" perhaps Ky had already mentioned that to the Rangers, but Saul had been the one who followed the trail there,

"I can confirm there's at least three more from the same group. And from the Ukian's we got the ships black box recordings" he said, hoping that there follow ups would at least demonstrate they hadn't been sitting on their asses since then. He and Ky had been working their asses off to follow this, and until now it had seem like now one else in the galaxy was on the same trail. Now that they knew there were, he wanted as many with them as he could,

"That's given us names. And, we're working through the data now, hopefully locations we can follow them back to. They've got to report to somewhere, that should hopefully tell us where one of those places is" he looked up from the table and locked eyes with her, steeling himself "I understand why you wouldn't trust us, or me, more particularly after what you've seen. I can give you all the data I'm getting" Saul took from his robes a data slate that contained a copy of the black box data and slid it across the table to them "and my word that, when we find them, I won't be backing down" by 'we' he meant the Jedi and the Rangers together. If she was any good at reading faces she'd see the determination in him clear as day. He'd had enough time since Mimban to know what he was going to do if he ran into them again.

Skkk-bhrk, his rebreather heaved a deep breath as he finished,

"Hopefully that goes some way to explaining why I came"

“Names?” Trys perked up, “Have you uncovered any of these names yet?” She was still not recording. She wanted him to feel comfortable enough to share information. Trys could tell he was remorseful of his actions, and she sighed upon realizing she had been a bit tough on him. In the end, the red sabers were clearly terrorists that had no restraint.

“You did stop a complete genocide,” Trys said after a moment, “There is something to be said for that,” She looked down at the table, “I can’t say I trust the Jedi or...whatever the other guys are, but I am beginning to see there is a difference between the two,” Trys looked up and met his gaze, “I only hope that your people are genuine and can give us the hope we need to combat these red sabers.”

Trys knew that Rangers could collect countless bits of intel, but they would never be prepared enough to take them on. She had seen how the Arcanist sliced through people like a hot knife through butter. They moved with unmatched precision and speed, and none of her people could ever match that.

“As much as I hate to admit it…” She lowered her gaze once more, “We need your help.”

Skkk-bhrk, his rebreather huffed as he replied to her inquiry,

"Adenn Ren is the name of one of the pilots, another one of those Knights of Ren, they often take a name once they join. Think of Kylo Ren back under the First Order. Buried in that data will be his real name, no doubt, and hopefully many more. We'll have the other pilot soon too, locations... well their still coming" Saul admitted to Trys as he tried to answer her questions "though with your resources alongside I'm sure we'll find everything on there" that things were being shared freely, and the doubt seeming to drop made him feel positive about this whole collaboration. He had to, even if it weren't working, there were few other allies that would be more valuable than the Rangers and the Alliance in the coming days. Saul had to believe that it would happen,

Skkk-bhrk,

"And the Jedi need the Rangers just as much" he said positively as he saw Trys look away "in many times in this galaxies history have the Jedi and the Republic stood alongside eachother. In many different forms, in many different fights" he spoke to try and smooth the emotions of both of them, no one could shoulder the weight of all this alone,

"Perhaps now will be no different"
